TAG TEAM: ARTHUR'S LEGACY | New Characters! New Decks!
Transcript
Hey everybody, Kimberly here with my overview and review of Tag Team Arthur's Legacy. There are six brand new characters in this deck that function very differently and within this lovely lovely fantasy universe that I really really appreciate and I really enjoy. Now, if you haven't seen my Tag Team of the base game my my video for that, go and check it out. I kind of lay out what the game does. This is an auto battler duel that also includes deck building. And I will talk about the basics of that in this video, but there were 12 in this box. There are six in this one and coming up soon, you are going to see I believe it's six in the next upcoming Tag Team. It is arcade themed. So, it's arcade legends. So, maybe like the Mortal Kombat 2 isn't doing it for you.
Not for me. Well, with one exception. This also can be really fun thematically. So, if the arcade legends sounds really cool and you really want that theme, wait for that to come out in 2027. But, if you want some King Arthur with the dragon, Percival, the Green Knight, Morgan, Excalibur, and Merlin, this one's going to be for you. And these characters feel so different. They function so differently from everybody that's over here. And again, I think my biggest kudos to this game is that they make every single one of these characters operate in a way that's fitting to their character, their style, their approach, and just like who you kind of sense they are. So, let me show you who's in here. Again, I've got these ordered from complexity and you'll see down at the very bottom there's a complexity.
So, this guy power surge and tank is the dragon, the fiery beast. These are going to be the cards that you can shuffle up and just deal out two to each player, so it's random and the combinations are going to be random. Or you can just simply select two and there is a recommended starting for this particular game. Um uh for the very first game that the uh the the rules say start here, that would probably be a really good move. Um so the dragon is complexity one, Percival the Grail Knight is aggressive card counts complexity two, and then you're going to go up from there. I've got two threes, the Green Knight which is the Champion's Bane. He's got regeneration and risk/reward. Morgan the Enchantress control and foresight. She's got this raven figure.
Complexity three. Then we get into some of the harder ones. Excalibur the Sword of Destiny is a support and immortal um item and its complexity is four, and then Merlin the Child of the Ancients has an entire um tree chart that is definitely part of that complexity five. It's a skill tree and there's an action build with it. So these are going to be the cards, but really what you do is you grab these big old chunky ones. Look at these. These are so cool. And you'll lay out the two that you pick and they're going to be essentially side by side. So my tag team duel is going to be, for example, Percival and the Dragon versus let's do Green Knight and uh Excalibur. Those are going to be the two or you might, you know, pair different things. But this is it. This is Merlin. I told you Merlin has just Merlin this own like four-way tree track that is really, really interesting and can definitely in the hands of a skilled player be almost undefeatable in my opinion. Once a player puts a marker down here and there is automatic damage that cannot be blocked because that's the style of damage it is. It's direct damage. You will tank your opponent, one of their boards pretty, pretty fast cuz there's not too much you can do. There are some players that have a stop. The hand sign means that you are going to stop before you go into KO. If one of your two tag team players ever KOs, you lose. And so,
you want to keep both of your characters up and running. Where's the hand? There's another hand for Merlin. Merlin can't go from eight to seven. Past that, they have to stop at seven with hits. So, it kind of has these thresholds that prevents you from really losing everything. But, you also have this cube symbol up in the top corner and that's these purple cubes right here. And the purple cubes you start with, but then you can accumulate and in some cases you can pass them to your fellow tag team player. And that's going to be your hit threshold essentially or sometimes your defense threshold depending on what you've got. And these are going to be ways that you can add even more damage to your damage. If you're really, really low on health, you could sit there at the bottom of the hand before you die and do eight plus a regular attack damage. If it gets through, that could be enough to swing the the favor in your direction and KO your opponent right before they think that you are going to be KO'd yourself.
Excalibur has a really, really cool feature of flipping over. Once you get it down to this level right here, you don't lose. It just flips over and becomes the broken blade. So, if this is one of your two characters, the only character who can KO is the other character. The broken blade will definitely hurt your other character, but it's not going to end your game. And the reason it does is because when you take a look at the sort of destiny cards, these are all going to be the swords. Each one of these heroes is going to have their own deck of which of course you take two different piles. You always take this top star card right here. You're going to see a star on it. Those are your star cards. You pick the order of which one you want to play first, and from that point on, every card you add to your deck goes on the top, in the middle, on the bottom, and you just keep sliding your new card into any order of your entire stack, but never reorganizing your stack of cards.
And that's the really cool feature of this uh builder. This is going to be your deck builder part of it, but it also is information for your fellow player. I will say, too, I found in this game, particularly with these characters, once you get off with your cards and your opponent has like the upper hand of sliding the right card into the right space, meaning to defend against your attacks or to attack you when you're undefended, or to do something really cool that changes the cards you fight with at the same time, it's really hard to get the upper hand again. It's really, really hard. And I have a knack for always playing my card into the wrong space of my stack, but I still find this game really satisfying and so fun and really easy to just keep playing and getting different combinations and to play another game.
This is a 15- to 20-minute game. Sometimes it takes us 20 to 25 minutes to play. Uh but now that we know all the characters and we've played them, those game that that time goes straight down because every single turn you are essentially playing your deck. So, the original deck for me is just two cards. We play, flip over, they're two. So, let's say they're this guy and this guy, right? So, they've got these cards. They've got um their two top cards, and we simply will just put our cards like this, and we'll say, "Okay, our decks are ready to go. These are going to be the cards that we have in our decks. We have shuffled both of them together, so you're going to have these two and they're going to shuffle it together." And then we are simply just going to go, "Okay, let's fight." He's going to get a scale as the dragon and then I'm going to transfer a power to my partner. If I can't, I gain a power. But if my sword is broken, it's going to essentially give direct damage to my partner. So, the sword hurts you once you have it on the bad side, which is what I was kind of talking about. Once that's done, we just go, "Okay, new card." We flip it over and then we fight here.
Attack and block your opponent's attack versus the wood sap. Ignore all hit points this turn. Move the green wood mask down one space. Then move your health marker to your new max hit points. And that's it. That's round one. Then we take our cards. We'll draw three from our deck that's been all shuffled. Pick one and then you put the other two at the bottom and then you slide your wand anywhere inside and then you just go, "All right, let's duel." Right? You just battle. This auto battler with your card sliding in has just enough choice to make the game so, so, so quick. And I do feel like these these characters are just really, really dynamic. So, Raven in this case, this is what Morgan has. And it allows you to look at your fellow opponent's card before they slide it into their deck.
And so, you always know what they're up to. Now, you can always read. Just really nice, they've got the fighter's guide and they explain everything in here. So, it's the crow's eye. It says you see what your opponent's adding to your deck and that is her whole thing. You put this on top of your deck and before you choose yours, you can see what they're doing. Now, you don't know where they're going to slide it, but that's really, really cool. The green wood mask token is going to go here and I kind of talked about that with the green knight about the the track itself and how it functions getting you more and more hit points the lower hit points you have. So, the green knight gets stronger and stronger the more bloodied he gets. That's the the special health track. Excalibur, I talked about that with the sword flipping over. Excalibur breaks, you don't lose the game. Um Percival has uh attacks based on previously played symbols that give you that symbol. It's this one right here. So, every card that you have of this, it says right here, this is your attack plus each card. So, you want to play your card that triggers at the end. You want to put that at the bottom of your deck. So, then you play this and you're like, "Oh, my attack is this plus 1 2 3 4 5." Because I've played five of these cards that has this symbol on it. That's really really really cool. Um love it so much. Merlin is wild. So, this is the tree board.
There is a heal branch. There is a block branch, an attack branch, and a direct damage branch. And when I played my opponent, my husband, went down the direct damage branch hard and fast, and that's how I lost with direct damage. So, this one, if you just go down that track, and then don't take too much damage in the meantime, maybe do a block branch at the same time, you could just absolutely crush. You could just crush. And then the dragon. There's the scale tokens. The scales are going to build up, and then the scales are going to trigger and they'll go away, and then the scales will build up again. Um so, it says here that each scale on the dragon's fighter board at the beginning of the turn reduces hit points sustained in an attack by one. So, it's a really great block. And the dragon has a ton of hit points, 20. 20 hit points.
Um yeah, really really cool. They all have different hit point levels, but they also have different triggers. So, I liked the theme here. I liked the cards a lot. We played all of these characters in a variety of combinations. We tried the easier ones first, the recommended ones, then we went on to the more complex ones. Um and just had a ton of fun. So, if you are a fan of tech team, Arthur's Legacy is really good. Just be aware for a couple of those character opportunities that could give you a runaway, but because each game is 15 or 20 minutes, just flip, grab grab the character you thought was overpowered, play them, see how you fare against other other opponents. And of course, don't play like me. Always put your cards in the right order. All right, I'll see you later.
Bye everybody.
