Hi everybody and welcome to another solo play through video. Today we have a very exciting game. It is bookshelf which is the new tin tin game from Alleycat Games. We all know Tinder Blocks, we all know Barbecubes, very very famous like more like dexterity games where you try to like balance stuff. There's nothing different with bookshelf. We need to balance some stuff, but the big difference is that for the first time in Alleycat game tin history is that it is also a solo. It has a solo mode. So today we're going to be playing bookshelf solo and it's perfect. I mean look at this.

If this does not scream my name, I don't know what does. Huge thank you to Alleycat Games for sending this my way. I'm so excited and yeah, let's play. All right, here we go. Bookshelf is all set up and ready to go for us. Obviously very easy set up. We have one like base card and then we have a bunch of cards that we're going to use during the game. So I have that here and we have a bunch of books obviously cuz we're building a bookshelf. We have Moby Dick. We have I'm assuming Alice in Wonderland. You know, I'm just guessing here.

We have I think Pinocchio. We have a little frog dude. Don't know what that could be. Let me know. Would love to know. Then we have I'm either like a Christmas story or it's it's Shrek. But there's not really a book on Shrek so not sure. And then we have Lord of the Rings. That's just my guesses

or what I'm thinking they are. Um And on our starting card we're going to place three of the red books and they're going to be upright like so. And our little cat is going to be in the middle. There she is. All right, so the game works as follows. We're going to draw two cards from the deck. And we're going to choose which one that we want to use. So we can either place this one where we need to place two Lord of the Rings books and a little frog book and two of those books need to be on the markings. We could also choose this one where we place two books two of the the yellow books, but they need to be upright like this.

And that's scary. So let's go for this one. This is scary. So this just will just go on the bottom of the deck and you win the game when you have eight shelves including the bottom shelf and that's when you win. Believe me, not easy. So we will be placing these ones and we need to move the cat to each shelf as well. So let's just put the two Lord of the Rings books here. And then this is going to go here. And then we're going to take out the cat and put it. I think it should be fine right here. Yeah. And the cat can overhang so it will be easier to pull her out. So that's why I'm placing her like that.

All right, two new cards. So we have a similar cards book situation here. That placement could be quite nice and I could put one there. That's not too bad. Or we have this one where two go here and then I need to balance it out really well. But I do like the stability of the red books. Let's just try that one. See what happens. Okay, so placing it here. Oh, we don't have much stability on this side though. You are allowed to to to change the orientation. So let's put it here like so. And then we're going to do a red book and three purple ones.

Okay, so let me the height's going to be the same as you can see. So that's important of course. Okay, let's just see what happens if I put two here. Okay, that's good. And then maybe just two here to balance it out or is that going to All right, taking out the cat. Placing the cat just right here I think. Okay. It's scary. It's scary business to be in the book business.

All right, okay. Interesting. I'm liking this actually. Let's do that. Let's put that right here to to bring more balance into the world. I think this is going to be good. We're just going to put them at the same time. Taking out the cat. And the cat is going to be just you know, right here. There we go. Let's put her tail out a little bit. Okay, two new cards. So we're now at four stories high. It needs to be eight. So four more cards. That's wild. That's so wild to me. Like if anybody ever does that and succeeds like applause to you. It's a difficult. We're going to see how we fare today. All right, we're going to do Let's actually do this one.

That's crazy. That's crazy choice. I think, but that's fine. I'm not sure if you're allowed to place two at the same time, but I think sometimes there's no other way that that could work. So I'm counting it as a legal move. Sorry Alleycat Games if it's not. Okay, it's really starting to get wonky now though. We need to do one with smaller books, but we're I guess that one then. That one gives us a bit more balance.

Okay. Two red, two pink. Okay. Let's go red red here. Oh gosh. Well, yep. There it goes. Kitty. Well, we tried. We did our best I think here. But yeah, that's bookshelf. I think it's so cute. Absolutely adorable. I love that we now have an Alleycat tin game that we can play solo. This is such a nice little like on the road game you can bring with you. Very easy to play obviously. The rules are very simple. You can obviously play this cooperatively where you just take turns to draw cards and place the books kind of like how you would play Tinder Blocks, but not with a winner and a loser, but with trying to build this bookshelf together and getting it to the required height.

And that is basically it. You can make it easier and play to six cards or make it harder and play to 10 cards. Wild if you succeed in that. But yeah, cute little game. I love the little movement of the cat which definitely makes it a bit more challenging as well. And I really like the design of the books. I just love the feel of like the components. It's so nice. Same with like a Barbecubes. I love Barbecubes. The components in that are so adorable. And I love like my favorite Alleycat game tin is definitely Tic Tac Trek. I think that one is just so clever and amazing.

But I have Tinder Blocks and Barbecubes as well cuz they're just so great. They're just fun to have, you know. I love it. Also, you can also choose a different side. So this is the easier side where you have more balance. You can also swap the or flip the starting card to this side where you put two books. This will be more difficult. Less stability basically. So yeah, that is bookshelf. I hope you guys enjoyed and I'll see you guys soon with a new video. Bye.
