Description
Magic Number is a Rummy style card game with a twist!
Played in 13 rounds, each round has an increasing number of cards with a different Magic Number as a wild card.
The aim is to collect the right combinations to be the first to come out and then enjoy watching opponents squirm to minimise their losses. The player with the lowest score wins.
What makes this game so much fun for all ages is that every round is a new opportunity to turn the game around. It’s anyone’s game until the very last round. Oh yes, and don’t mind the laughter when a player accidentally discards the Magic Number!

Mechanics (from transcript analysis)
- area/field positioning — Players place cards to position strikers, midfielders, and defenders on a grid-like field via half-icon cues
- Card Drafting — At the start, players draft three star players who grant asymmetric powers or effects
- control marker mechanics — The control marker advances toward the opponent, which constrains the amount of attack and accuracy
- icon-matching synergy — Matching field icons creates synergies that affect shots, defense, and card draw
- penalty kicks and special outcomes — One-star cards trigger penalties; special outcomes can reshape the turn or score
- special goal rule (11 stars) — If a player reaches exactly 11 stars, an automatic wonder goal is awarded
- synergy card economy — Collecting and spending synergy cards to improve shots or distortion of opponent's actions
- token-based shooting and defense — Shoot tokens are used to attempt shots; defense tokens mitigate goals depending on the control marker
