Description
A very old game where each player attempts to place three of their markers (usually an X or an O) in a line on a 3x3 grid.
The Romans called this game Terni Lapilli (this does not appear to be true, Terni Lapilli seems to be a distinct and separate game). It shares the board but the players only have 3 pieces each. The same game may be played not on the grid spaces but on lines where it is aka Three Men's Morris.

Mechanics (from transcript analysis)
- Area Control — if you deploy your architects efficiently in a row, horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, you'll earn favor of the king.
- Set Collection — If the color of the building you place allows you to complete a project, you'll collect even more points.
- Tile Placement — On your turn, you'll choose a tile from the central board by placing one of your architects on an available stack. You'll then place a tile in your city to score points based on the type of building you choose.
- Variable player powers — Each of the buildings that you play in the game have special abilities. The garden allows you to gain one point for each stack with the same number of tiles including the stack that you placed. The market allows you to gain two points for each tile that matches the same color. The wall scores on the edge of your board, and the residence scores for different types of buildings.

Quotes (from this video)
- So, it's Dr. Finn's book of two-player strategy and word games.
- And the best part about this, I cannot wait to show you all the cool features here, but the best part about this is you have eight different strategy and word games in here.
- And each of those games offers eight variations on the map or the board that you play on to make every single iteration of that game different.
- And that's what makes this so replayable and so portable.
- So, every single one is going to tell you how to play the game. Really, really great instructions.
- Players are going to tear or cut a lot of these pages.
- So, every single one of these is going to have a different iteration of the same game.
- I liked all of them. I liked all of them a ton and I think they're all worth playing all the way through and then just playing again and again whenever you feel like, oh, I feel like wanting to do a market game. I want to do a word game. I want to do a tic-tac-toe strategy like abstract strategy game. Do that.
- Just an absolute joy. I'm so excited.
- I love what uh Steve Finn's been doing with his games lately.
- All the games in here are so thoughtfully designed and a ton of fun.
- So they're really fast.
