0:02 And today we are playing through Steam and Cheese by Skully Games. Steam and Cheese is a Euro game where you're going to be making cheese. That's the general idea. It's got Steam because it's like a steampunk universe where mel mice are the ruling class. Uh they are interested in cheese as you might imagine. And so it's our job to sit here and try to make as much cheese as possible. This is a prototype. All rules and components subject to change. This is actually a good time to note they are aware of a lot of small little quality of life things like symbology, the action track, even the the colors of the various tokens. There's a lot of small things that definitely go under the this is a prototype rules and components of change label, which we always have in prototypes, but especially when a publisher is already making changes, I like to additionally broadcast that they are aware of those things. With that said, I'm going to give you a very general overview and then we'll dive into it. Our first few turns will go a little slower so that you can see how things play out because there's a lot going on. But the general overview is this is going to be a six round game. Across six rounds, we're going to be rolling these dice in here. We'll reroll them when we start. You're going to be drafting dice, placing them down to take actions, uh getting resources based on the top value of the dice, and then getting bonuses based on the size of the dice and the various actions they point to. There's 12 key actions in the game. We're going to be activating a lot of them. They're mostly going to involve different ways of of manipulating our milk into cheese, as well as getting uh as well as getting spices and upgrading our cheeses and then crafting orders and buying new tokens. There's an absolute ton of things you could be doing as you go through this, but it cost six months of play. Draft dice, three dice per turn.

1:41 Use those to basically build up your engine. Again, we'll go into it a lot more as we start doing things. That's kind of a very high level starting point. Again, we'll we'll take it slower the first few turns. You can see our thought process before we speed up. You want to roll the dice?

2:04 Okay. We got a bunch of sixes, which you might think is a good thing, but they're not always a good thing because the sixes are going to give you a lot more resources of certain values. In fact, do I want a six? Maybe I do. Or maybe I'm going to take this five. I'm not going to overthink it. I'm just going to start off. I'm going to draft this five over here. Now, when you take a die, what you're going to do is you're going to get the the value of the top of the face equal to that resource, which is either money, milk, or reinette. I already have milk because I have this starting tile, which gave me four milk along with five money. So, I have my five money. I have my four milk and I'm taking this one. Uh, and that's going to give me five of this which I'm going to put in here. That's important because this renet over here is going to be how we actually turn our milk into cheese. From there, I'm going to take this one over here. I need to think where I'm going to put it because if I ultimately want to turn my milk into cheese, I need to think for that. Uh, I am going to put this h I'm trying to put it in a different direction. Where's my cheesem? My cheesem value is going to be this one, which is going to be over here. So, I think I'm going to point that there and that that there. That could be that's spicy. That's terrible. That's terrible.

3:04 I don't want to do that at all. I want to kind of go that way, I guess. So, I guess I'll go this way over here. So, I'm going to place the five down here. So, this is the five over here. It's placing here. Uh, the side of the face over here. This six is pointing towards this action. So, I can take this action at a value of six. And then the four is pointing this way. So, I can take this action at a value of four. So, right now, I'm going to use that action, which again is on my board over here. And I'm going to, even though it's a value of six, I don't have six milk to benefit from. So I'm going to take the four milk I have and I'm going to immediately make it into that cheese paying four renet which means my cheese is not going to be spoiling which is an important part of the game. Milk is going to spoil cheese does not. So that was action one. So again the first thing I did is I took five reet based on the top value of the die. The second thing I did is I took the action at a value of six which I only had four cheese to convert. The third thing I'm going to do is I'm going to take one of my uh my guys over here and put them is on the bottom track. Did I not plan for the amount of money I need over here? I guess it is what it is. I'm going to take my guy over here.

4:00 I'm going to pay $5 to take this assistant over here. I have $5. I'm going to pay it and I'm going to put him on the board and he's going to go on the bottom track. So, he's going to go one, two, and then he's going to stop because I don't have enough money to pay that additional spot.

Uh, the cards can go into the cards are going to be the orders you're fulfilling. And these uh machine tiles are going to go in the top section of your board, replacing those and allowing you to benefit when others go there.

Uh, one thing about these cards that I should note is whenever there are two rows to a card, you only have to do the top part. So to fulfill this order, you have to do the top part. The bottom part is optional, but it will give you the additional rewards. So just so you know, as far as card rows go.

So, that's going to allow me to do is I'm going to pay $10 now that I have $10 and I'm going to put my assistant on the top half of the blimp doing the top action at a value of two. Now, so what's going to happen is it's going to move one two. So, I'm both going to get a spice which is going to be helpful later. I'm also going to get a victory point, but because my top and bottom assistants are teed up because they match each other on that blimp, I'm going to get the value in between, which means I'm going to get a bonus three victory points as well. So, I'm going to go up one, two, three. Wish money, but hey, I'll take it. Uh that is that action which means I am done. The last thing I need to do is this action here for a value of four. I'm going to move these four into their slightly more advanced format over here. But it will generate a trash unfortunately. Whenever you take that action it generates one trash automatically which is worth negative three points then the game unless I deal with it.

So, for example, if you have eight different cheeses in play, you get 15 points. If you have 16 Reette in play, you're going to get those points. Uh it's going to be true for money. It's going to be true for for um what's the top one? The top one is upgrades over there, orders. Uh it's going to be true for having all four of your mouse assistants on the blimp at once, which is a ambitious feat. I'm halfway there, but your assistants get more expensive as you go, so it's not quite halfway there. And then the last thing we're going to do is the last thing we have to do is we get to go ahead and choose a bonus from the remaining dice. So we get three dice placement. And now we get to choose one of these. Uh I can choose to move two which would bump me which would actually give her an extra bonus. So I'm not going to do that. I'm instead going to choose to use this value die. And these actually stay here so multiple people can use them. Uh but I'm going to move one over here and simply get $5.

16:35 Yes. When you pasteurize milk, so the way it works is you have two tracks for milk. You have your top track which turns into various forms of unpasteurized cheese. And then you have your bottom track which is pasteurized milk and it turns into pasteurized cheese. Cheese comes in various forms. Cream cheese, soft cheese, hard cheese, and then spiced cheese. And you have all those for both pasteurized and unpasteurized. When you pasteurize milk, however close it is to spoiling, it then resets uh now that you've cooked it. This is just standard science. We all know this.
