Edo's Top Tier Review
Transcript
Hey everybody, Edeto here and the good folks at Indie Board and Cards have sent me along top tier. This is a four to 10 player party game and it's perfectly fun. In this game, players are going to start by effectively writing out a bunch of character names. They can be historical characters, fictional characters. You can even chuck in random things if you want, but basically players are going to be listing out a bunch of character names and then one player is a judge or the tier captain or whatever they call it and uh they are going to reveal what the category is. The names get set first. Uh so in this case, h how good would they be at selling uh vacuums doortodoor? Uh and so the tier ranking is if I'm that that person, I then look at all the names that people provided.
So, somebody here could have said Batman. Um, and these are all numbered from 1 to eight. Batman. Somebody could have said, I don't know, let's go like super basic. Homer Simpson, you know, you could put Ang, you know, like ang have two A's. I a is not three letters or what, however you spell that. Anyway, everyone goes around and so there's no real um order to uh how these get done, right? Like you can distribute out the cards to each player, but it's basically like a group activity to come up with the names. And then so the person who's the uh who read the category then has this sheet and on here they are going to effectively stack rank them or order them from Sab D uh on the category. So, selling vacuums door to door and maybe I'd say I actually think Ang could move dust around and use his wind powers and so he'd be super, but Homer Simpson would be terrible. And I sort of use the numbers to be like 1 3 5, you know, and I I rank them. So, I keep this information hidden. But then what I'm going to do is I'm going to tell players where I've put them in their ranks by number. So, like I've picked one S, I've picked two two characters for A, there was only one B, there was only one C, and then there was three D's. There's no real rules in terms of how many you could put in any C category. It's however uh the player thought. I think I guess if you put them all in one category, it would be a little bit silly. You're supposed to rank them. But anyway, so I do that and then the other players sort of
collectively talk about and discuss where they would think I I put them. Oh, he definitely put Ang up here. I think he put this here. You know, sort of you have a little bit more table space. And then after everyone's revealed, I reveal my my my my list. A big part of this game is rationalizing and explaining why you chose this versus that. No, I thought that was totally, you know, the higher rank, why that person would be great. Like, it's meant to be that sort of social party game. Um, and then basically we see how many total were right and how many total were wrong. And right isn't getting in the correct rank. Uh, and then the team, everyone gets points for the how many were right, just sort of for the group and then you keep playing. Like I don't even know points matter all that much and you know the rules are like it's you know it's a big thing here but like it's like one panel is the rules on how to play and then one panel is an example. So super straightforward. Um, you know, I I I actually felt like I was at a party recently or gathering where we played a game that was very similar to this, but not this one, and I can't remember what it was called. Um, but you know, this is the ranking game. So, uh, it's fun. It's entertaining if you're with a group of player folks who know each other and like will enjoy trying to guess like really good with extended family and people who like know each other but, you know, don't see each other every day or whatever. Like, I don't know. I It's exactly what I just said and it works like you'd imagine. So anyway, this is
top tier. Thanks. Bye. Hey everybody, Edeto here and thanks for watching Gaming with Edeto reviews over here on this playlist, League and Insider videos over here on this one. Subscribe, share, all that good stuff. But most importantly, play some great games. Thanks. Bye.
