Surplus of Sloths

hello so today I want to tell you about the really fun and adorable game surplus of sloths and this is from weird Giraffe games they have made several excellent games this is crowdfunding now on backer kit so you can go check this out and make it become a reality if it sounds interesting to you so this game plays two to four players and it is really interesting because you're going to be building this hand so that at the end of the game you can collect pile or piles from the Surplus so you want to build up a really great hand but that hand is not what's going to score you point so you're having to make these tricky decisions there are five different colors of sloths and each color is a different type of sloth So based on the number of players that you have in your game you will play with one more color of sloth than you have players so if this was a three-player game we would play with four colors the sloths and you are going to go ahead and just Shuffle those up and every player is going to get three sloths to start so you are going to look at your starting hand and these X's they at the end of the game become a multiplier and they can kind of serve as a wild in your hand towards that color so you to start the game are going to keep two of the cards and you're going to discard one which begins your Surplus so this was a three player game I would discard and so would my fellow players

anything that's the same color is going to go in a pile together because the way that it's going to work is at the end Whoever has the most blue cards in their hand is going to get the blue Surplus Whoever has the most sequential red cards in their hand is going to get the red Surplus and same thing with tan and with green in this case then there's also a yellow suit which I left out because this is not a four player game so in your hand you're collecting sloth cards in sequence again you can use those X's at the end of the game whatever you collect the X's become a multiplier so if there's no x's in the Surplus you collected then you don't multiply by anything if there's one you get to multiply by two if there's two you get a multiply by three and if there's three you get a multiply by four so more multipliers is good but you also may not want want to put multipliers in there if you know your opponent is likely going to collect a certain color so how are we going to get more cards in our hand if we only have two well there are going to be two rows which are called the river these are essentially the sloths are falling from the trees and they're ending up in the river so we are playing a thre player game so in a three-player game each River Line would have four cards and so if you are the first player you are going to look at the cards in your hand and look at the riverline and

you are going to decide what you want to take so let's say I chose to take this this now means the next two players must take from this row as well so let's say they took that and that into their hands the card that's left moves to the Surplus and normally the Surplus would be right down below but I don't have room on camera to show that so then New River row comes out more sloths have fallen from the trees and the next player would go and whatever row they take from everyone does the same and you keep going building up the surplus building up the Surplus until you cannot fill the river and then that will trigger the end of the game so once that happens you're going to have like I said all of these cards down in the Surplus let's say we had something like this and then you are going to all reveal one color at a time so everyone would reveal their blue cards whoever did the best gets this for scoring reveal your red whoever did the best gets this for scoring green and then Brown so all the cards you had in your hand all they were doing is helping you get these slots they now count for nothing and these are the cards that count so I really like that it's that interesting push and pull of do I want to take this card from the river because it's going to help my hand or would it be better in the Surplus and I can potentially get it as a scoring card at the end of the game but I don't want to make the surplus of anyone color

too good because what if my opponent beats me to it then all I've done is sweeten the deal for them so there's fun decision making to be made it plays quickly it's like a 15 20 minute game I would say once you know what you're doing it's definitely closer to that 15 and again based on player count there are some baby sloths that are worth zero but that are multi colored that you can play with if you want to add a little bit more complexity like I said this game is funding now on backer kit so you can check it out there this was a prototype version of the game so everything is subject to change a little bit um but this is essentially what it is I love sloths I love card games I'm excited for surplus of sloths so consider checking it out on backer kit give me a like and a follow and I'll keep bringing you more board game content content thanks bye
