Hey everybody, it's your old Power Hour. Today, we are going to take uh a look at a game from Amber Wells. Uh it is a noir dice game for up to one to four players. It is called Stakeout. I was looking forward to this. So, let's go down, take a look. I'll show you, you know, I'm not going to tell you everything, but I'm going to give you a good idea how this is played. And then we will come back and I will give you my thoughts on this one. All right, let's go down check it out.
So, the way this works, you know, this is just one player set up here. Um and just to show you, uh there's a couple of ways that you are going to uh play this. And what you're going to do is you're going to have a pool of dice. Like, for instance, this person will have all the yellow dice, okay? And the opponent will have white dice. Well, these gray dice, we'll just say. What's going to happen is on your turn, you are going to roll two dice. Uh and then you're going to try to match the numbers on the investigations, okay? Uh like this this is three, okay? I could put that there, but I think the three and the five here really works here for me. And that means I would just need a five and a six and I'd be able to claim that. Uh if you claim three of these, uh uh you will uh start the end of the game. And uh it's going to be a matter of who has the most victory points for the win. Your opponent, though, uh also gets to roll two dice.
Um and they may find something They if they roll a five and six here, they could steal this investigation from you. But here we rolled a one and a two, and well, there's nothing I could really do with with that, but I'll put the one there, uh and if if if I didn't want to use that particular dice, uh I can I can take what they have is a stakeout car, and uh I can apply it here. Okay? And as this moves up, you can use any dice that you're on with your car and lower to maybe complete one of these uh adoring your turn. Uh once you are able to complete, okay, and you would you would discard that dice. Uh like for instance, I got a two, which isn't going to help me.
And let's just say this was off board here and a four, and I didn't want to use that. Well, I I I kind of want to use maybe one of the fours here. Okay? And I would take and discard this and move this here. So, if I wanted to, I can cash that in for a one on my next turn. There are hot tips that you're going to have, and they're going to add certain dice, they're going to adjust uh dice and things like that, give you special abilities that are going to help you complete these. Uh once you complete and claim one of these, you are going to pull another one, and then your other friend well might be able to roll and go, "Okay, maybe I can get a one, a five, and a six and be able to claim claim that complete that."
Uh you're going to have bonuses, and and there's going to be wiretaps, which uh discard two of your active dice. You can discard them, uh draw five investigations, and then you can choose one to keep and just use for yourself, uh which is a nice little ability. Um Your client card is going to help you and give you some uh some abilities as well, and and things that you're going to want to match up uh cuz you're going to want to do the things on the card to complete that. And you're going to do this until you complete three of these, and then you are going to win the game. Uh you know, depending if you have you know, the highest amount of uh victory points. It's an interesting little game.
I I I really kind of it does have a nice little thematic feel to it. Uh investigation bonuses, there's leads, fingerprints, roll a die and place it in your saved dice. So, you can roll a die and you can save a die. So, say there's a number I could probably use that later. I don't want to use that right now. I need a five, but I need a couple of other things, but I want to save that five cuz I can use it later. There are ways that you can do that. Um and another way you can draw another hot tip after you after you use one and be able to implement that ability to try to help you to complete your investigations. And there you have it. That in a nutshell in a quick overview is how you play Stakeout. Let's go up top and get my final thoughts.
Um there you have it. It's you know, a nice little game that that you know, you could play you know, at the end of the night or if you want to play something quick. Um I haven't tried the solo rules yet, so I'm not too sure on that. Uh but um uh honestly, uh I played it with my son. We you know, we went through it. It's easy to learn, easy to play. Uh I I think a lot of people will find this enjoyable and a lot of fun. So, uh definitely check it out. Uh Stakeout. Uh it is a dice chucker and I love to chuck dice. Ask your dog gone sure. Uh be sure to check it out. I do like it you know, I do like how you can steal investigations too. That's kind of cool, too. So, uh there you go. Um uh until next time. It's your old pal Rob. We'll see you soon, everybody.
