Transcript 7:10

Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the Discriminating Gamer. You know, I'm terrified of elevators. I'm going to start taking steps to avoid them. Today, we're taking a look at Rattlesnake from Osprey Games. Now, this is from Michael Hardaker and what this is this is a two-player head-to-head kind of a shoot-'em-up uh gun-totin' type of a game. But, you know what? I like these little two-player games. There's not a lot of cards in this game, so it looks like it's going to be very simple, very fast, so it's going to be more maybe of a filler game. So, I'll tell you what, let's go down to the table, let's open this one up, and let's see what's on the inside.

All right, folks, here we go. This is Rattlesnake by Michael Hardaker and the art is done by Roland McDonald and Osprey Games is publishing this game. So, here we go. This is just going to be a two-player game. It's going to take about 15 minutes to play it and you're looking at ages 14 and up. This box only has 65 cards in it, all right? And your active token, which is probably going to be that little gun, and you're basically just kind of doing a shootout. You're putting cards together and you're just trying to be the victor in this particular game. Now, these little 15-minute filler games like this, I do like having these games cuz you never know when you just want to play that one more game, you're not ready to go home, you got a little bit of time left. So, is this going to be a good two-player game or not? Uh well, you know, I really trust Osprey Games and their little small games like this, so I'm excited about that. And look at that, man, orange. It's not brown, it's not just regular.

So, what are we going to get inside of this box? Okay, we're going to get Let's see, we got our player decks here. So, this is your actions, you're going to be able to reload, looks like scout, and then you're going to be able to dodge and shoot. And then you got uh what is it? Distract and disarm. So, you got two little player cards you're going to get. Um you got your events. Here's your bleeding out, different events you can have. And what's on the backside? And we've got your There you go. Saloon, focus, quick draw, double tap. Okay. So, we do have your player aids. Very nice. And there you go. That is going to be your active side. You got side one and side two. I've never seen them write that. Not unusual to write that, but there you go. Side one and side two of your active player card or token. Now, let's get this rulebook out. And oh man, see how they look there with orange and then yellow. Boy, they're just all over the place on the colors. So, we're going to have a small little rulebook.

Looks like it's only going to be about 14 pages long, 13 pages long. All right. And text hopefully is not going to be too awfully small, but let's take a look at it. So, there you go. So, you're going to have your 34 action cards in two different decks. So, looks like each person's probably going to have their own deck, okay? And what you're going to have in it, you're going to have some hit cards, your 15 saloon action cards. All right, and your saloon event cards. All right, let's see what we have. So, we have our setup, choose your first player. All right, this is what your board is going to look like when you're ready to go. And then how to play. Buying a card. Attacking and defending. Got some good combos. Ah, you know what, man? What card games like this give you little combos. I love it. Winning combos, interesting. Different card abilities.

Example turn. Mhm, excuse me.

[clears throat]

I love allergy season. And then your credits. And there you go. And that is it. Now, very back of the rulebook, take a look at that, get that glare out of there for you. There is going to be a little quick reference for you. Very nice. Now, what do we have here? So, we're going to have two different decks cards. And let's just flip them over like that. And each one of these decks are definitely a different size. So, one's probably going to One side's probably going to have like your uh saloon cards and stuff on them, you know? Like for example, there's you know, your ones, your twos, your your Let me show you these. Your Okay, got your one. Then you're going to have your two. Your dodge and shoot 'em. You've you've got your three and then your four. Plus or minus one in any card. Oh, and your five. Okay. So, we're going to get all of those.

All right. Now, what do we got here? We have our hit cards, okay, which basically that's your front and back side of those. All right. Now, you have some other ones. Change one value. Okay. You got those twos, those threes, that four, and that five. All right. And that is going to be everything for this side. Okay. Now, if we come over here, we're going to have those same ones discarded your hand down to three. Okay. Draw two, return one to your deck. Got your dodge and shoot. Got your four, and you got your five. So, those all look like the same as the other side, but in this case you're going to have your hits, okay?

So, here. Let's take those cards. Let's put them in there. You got your hits, which is your two side for those. All right. Put those off to the side. And we're going to have what are these? Our saloon cards. Okay. High noon, knives out, bleeding out. Spray, create, locked and loaded, and then running low. And the back side of those is going to look like the same as on your hit cards as well. Okay. So, there you go. That is all the cards in the game. Now, these are a little bit bigger, which is nice, but I can take that first player token, put it in there, and they're going to be about the same now. All right. So, these cards we're just going to put them right there. Rule book's going to go right there. And there you go, folks. That is everything that you're going to get inside of this little box. A rattlesnake. Hmm. All right. It's a little two-player shoot 'em out game. It looks really fun.

Looks like we're going to get a bunch of laughs out of this one. I can't wait to give this one a try. All right. Let's hit up top and close this out. Well, there you go, folks. That is Rattlesnake from Osprey Games. And I'll tell you what, look at the artwork on that. Oh, I love it. Oh, yeah, the artwork on that cover looks absolutely fantastic. Now, the cool thing about this game, it is a tiny little game, okay? Small little box. It's two player. It's like what, a 15-minute game? Is that what I said it was? 15-minute game. This is one of those games you're going to put down on the table as you're waiting for people to show up for game night or at the end of game night or something like that. You I just a really fast little filler game. I've played some of their other games before and they're just a lot of fun. I mean, there's a lot of stuff going on. And I can't wait to give this one a try, okay? Looks unique, looks fun, looks simple enough. Need to get this one to the table.
