Hey there gamers. Welcome back to the Board Game Co. channel. And today we have a preview of God's Will. Hey there gamers, it's Professor Meg here and welcome back to the Board Game Co. channel. Today we have a preview of God's Will by Breezy Games. Now this is a current crowdfunding campaign, so you can check out the link down below for everything that they have planned. This is a sponsored preview and this is a prototype copy in front of me. So all rules, components, things like that are subject to change. Now, in God'sville, this is going to be a game for five to 14 players where you are all playing as the different gods of Greek myth. So, you're going to take on the role of a god, and then you are going to have a secret role where you are either for the team of the light, the darkness, or perhaps just a loner for yourself. But either way, you're going to have certain conditions that you're trying to meet.

And round over round, players are going to be going off on these different ventures. So, you're first going to be selecting the leader for the venture. And then the leader is going to select other players to go on this venture with them. And then players are going to play different destiny cards that are going to either come out in the favor of the team of the light, the darkness, or perhaps just a little bit for the darkness, which isn't too bad. But that's going to be all with these cards here, which I'll show you in just a moment. But players are going to be trying to accomplish the winning condition for their team. So if you are the team of the light, you're trying to bring the leader of the darkness closer to your marker. what banishing them from Mount Olympus and also advancing your marker forward. But all of this is going to be accomplished through these different ventures. Now here we have the game set up for six players. So you can see the six different gods here. And regularly when players are playing, you're going to have your card on a standy like this where you're going to start off with the light face facing out towards everyone because you are going to have certain things that will cause your cards to flip over and perhaps show that you had something happen to you that was involved with the darkness. So, this is how all players are going to start off.

And just note that everyone would have all of their cards up on a standy like this, but I have them laying down just so that you're able to see them. And then these are going to be your different markers to show if you've used your ability or not. So all of these different gods are open knowledge and you know which players are which gods and you know whether or not they have used their special ability or not. So for example, Athena here, our goddess of wisdom, can once per game skip the leader vote phase and appoint the ventures leader. So, I'll get into what that means in just a moment, but just know that Athena's power is to take over that particular vote and instead appoint the leader for herself. So, you can see that Zeus over here once per game during the venture resolution phase can cancel the outcome. So, again, I'm going to go over what all that is going to mean in a moment, but you can see where all these abilities sound pretty powerful, but you can only do them once per game. So, once they are done, you spend your token. And there are some abilities that either have zero or two tokens. Uh but everyone that's currently here has one. And that's because we are set up for the mythic ad ventures phase. And depending on the number of players, it tells you which gods to play with. And you'll see that we have certain ventures for our player count that are going to involve those gods. But there is another mode that players are able to use where it just has a specific set number of how the first player marker will move. and the team members that will go on the ventures each round. So, this is a

different way to play, but the main way to play is going to be through these mythic ventures where players are going to be having the specific gods chosen, shuffled up, divvied out to the different players. And then before starting, players are all going to receive these different roles. So, the roles are going to show you what team that you are on. For example, this one is marked of light. So, this is going to be someone who is on the light team but not the leader. But it's in their best interest for the light team to win, which is going to be advancing the light marker and also bringing the darkness leader which their token is going to be up here and reducing it down here so that the two meet because that is going to be the win condition for the light team. Whereas the opposite is going to be the win condition for the darkness team where the darkness is also going to have their own leader and they are trying to bring the leader of the light to the darkness token instead. So again, I'll get into exactly how all of these tokens are going to move in just a moment, but these are the roles that are going to be given out to players. And then you can see here we also have the usurper and they are a loner. So standing between light and darkness, you recognize the leader of the darkness.

You win alone if the leader of the light meets or surpasses the light marker. Alternatively, you win if light prevails. And the leader of the light is among the three farthest from Olympus, even if tied. So you can see how the rules are all very different depending on what side you are going to be on. So these would all be shuffled up and divvied out at the beginning of the game. So, we'll do that and we will pass these out and not know what these other roles are. So, we'll pass all of those out and we would know what we are and we are actually the leader of the darkness. So, we are trying to take down the light and bring them down. Um, but if we happen to meet this marker here, then we would lose. So, us as Athena are going to be this token here. And we are trying at most to avoid this token here. But we are also trying to bring the leader of the light to our darkness token. Now before the game play actually begins, there's going to be a night on Olympus.

So once all players have received their roles, you're going to see what you are and then everyone is going to close their eyes. So you're going to go through a whole sequence where certain players are going to know what other players are. I'm not going to go through all of it, but an example where we are playing with the usurper, we would have our eyes closed at the end of this phase as the leader of the darkness. We would raise our hand. The usurper would open their eyes, see us, and then close their eyes before everyone then opens their eyes together because then no one would know who that person was either. So, that's a part of the sequence that you will go through, but just know that there are a couple of steps in this part that you will go through so that certain roles that need to know who each other are will know. Now, next is going to be the venture phase, and this is when players are going to go through the venture to determine which of these markers is going to advance at the resolution of the venture. So, here we have the mythic ones, which are all going to relate to a certain player count, as well as specific gods that are currently in play. So, here you can see it references a few symbols, and we do have Zeus as well as Athena in play. So both of those players would be able to be the leader for this particular venture. So players would then vote to determine who would be the leader among the different eligible players. And then after that, you're going to have that leader select two additional people because of this plus two here. So that number can change depending on the venture that players are going through,

but you're going to have the leader being the one to select those additional players. So that is going to be the current venture. But for example, for a different one, this you can see requires different gods. And we only have two options, but they do still have us adding plus two players. Whereas, if we continue looking here, you can see there's one that's only having another player go on this venture. So, when this one comes up, the leader would have to be either Athena or Apollo, and they're only selecting one other player. And that's going to be very important because during the resolution phase, you're going to see the destiny cards that they selected. And in a case like this where it's only two players, you're going to know that between one of those two players, they were the ones that played that card. So let's go on to that part now just so that you can see what that is going to look like. But for this one here we will say for the sake of this that as Athena we were selected as leader and we selected two other players to go with us. So we will choose Poseidon and Hara over there to go on this particular venture. Now as we are a leader of darkness we do want darkness to prevail. So, when we are now in this next step, we are going to be choosing from these destiny cards. We're going to have three to choose from. And we either have the light, which is going to allow this to move forward three steps if all of the cards are this light card, and we

obviously don't want that. There is the darkness one. In this case, darkness will prevail and move forward three steps. if there's even just one darkness card in the destiny pile unless there is one of these fate cards. So if there is a fate card, it will change that. And with the fate cards, it will have the darkness only move forward once. And for us where we do want to advance the darkness but not necessarily show that we are the leader of the darkness, choosing this fate card is a pretty good option for us because that is going to mean regardless the darkness mover is going to move up one and it's not going to show that we really want it to move forward three. So we could kind of hide in plain sight for now. So that is going to be the one that we choose to play.

And when doing so, players are going to secretly choose which cards to play. We're going to have this be the one that we are submitting here for the destiny. And your other cards are going to be put into a shared discard pile, which will also be shuffled before anything is revealed. So, we are going to have the other players cards here added over to the destiny area, and then we are going to shuffle them all together. So, once we do that, we will reveal them. And again, this is where Zeus's uh ability would come into play that before revealing these, he would be able to once per game spend this token and negate this so that no tokens move forward. Now, first round, that would maybe be a little bit ambitious, but this is the phase when that would be happening. So, here we have our fate card, which we knew would happen. We also have a darkness card. So you can see that someone on the darkness team is also here with us and or perhaps the uh loner. And then we also have one for the light. So we have someone from the light team trying as hard as they can or perhaps someone else on the darkness team that is trying to again hide in plain sight. So with those results, we would move this forward one. And again, if this card had been either of these instead, the darkness would move forward three. And it would require all of the cards to be this particular light one in order for the light marker to move forward three. But you're going to see

that pretty quickly when these dark cards come out for the darkness, that's going to tip off the light players as to which cards are playing on the side of the darkness. So, we were trying to kind of have a decoy here, but this darkness card here is going to tell everyone at the table that at least one person between Athena, Poseidon, and Hera really wants the darkness to win. So, this is also when their player cards would flip because this is now going to show that we went on a venture that then came out in a result for the darkness team. So, we would flip Athena over to her dark side as well as Poseidon and Hera. So, now you can see visually at the table, the players are going to start to have a sense of which characters have been tainted by these darkness ventures. Now, in the future, these players are able to flip their cards back over to the light side, but it would require them to be going on a venture that then results in a win for the light team, which would then flip all of those players to the light side if you're not on it already. Now, that is how players are going to be selecting leaders for the different ventures and then resolving them with their destiny cards. But this is going to be a very interactive part of the game, especially when choosing leaders because in this example, as I said, there's clearly someone who's in the team for the darkness and perhaps someone else as well because the choice that we made was in favor of the darkness. Perhaps we

could say that it was to stop the darkness from advancing too much. But either way, that was a pretty sketchy reveal for the Destiny cards. So, you can see where players are going to start deducing which players might be on which teams. And then when it comes to appointing a leader, you're going to be a lot more discerning once you fi find that you can't trust someone. So perhaps you do have some secret knowledge from opening your eyes at the beginning of the game and there are certain players that you want to help support. But if you're in the team of the light and you want the light to win, you're going to start putting these puzzle pieces together and then start deciding which players you're able to trust to be the leaders and select other members of the light team. because if you're not and if you make a wrong guess, that could mean the end of the game. Now, at higher player counts, there are other gods for players to choose from as well. So, there are a whole bunch of gods with different unique abilities that will be added as you increase your player count.

And similarly, there will be different roles that are added as well. So, you are going to have roles that are added, for example, the avenger of light here. You're going to have the faceless of darkness, and you're going to have different loners as well, such as the hermit, the anarchist, the narcissist, things like that. So, you're going to have different unique roles added as you add on more players, meaning that the deduction element is going to get more and more complicated, but you're also going to have other team members on your side that are going to be helping you with making these decisions. Now, after the venture phase is going to be the expulsion phase, and this is how the player tokens are going to be moving closer to the tokens that are down here. So, starting with the first player, each player is going to vote to expel one of the gods further away from Olympus. So, for example, we as Athena could choose to expel one of these characters, thinking they surely must be one of the light ones. So, for example, if we choose Aphrodite, we can choose to expel her, moving her one space further away from Olympus. Now, Poseidon may choose to do the same thing, meaning that their token would move down. But then, Hara may have been the player that played that one light card, and they're starting to suspect us. So, Harrow may choose to move us as Athena down. And players are going to go around for the round, each of them getting one vote to move a player's token down closer to

these tokens here. Now, once a god or goddess token reaches one of these markers, that player is going to have to say whether the game ends or not. So, for example, us as the leader of the darkness, if our token were to meet or pass this one here, then we would have to then let everyone know that we have unfortunately lost the game. So, it is up to the different gods as they pass these tokens to let players know whether the game continues or not. But assuming it does, those players are still in the game. They are just not able to be chosen during this phase in the future. Now, one huge thing to passing players past these tokens besides winning or losing the game is that once they are passed, when they play their Destiny cards, they have to be played face up.

So, where the destiny cards were played face down in the example I showed you, a reason to also pass players past these different markers is going to show that they have to then play their destiny cards face up when they are going on the different ventures. Now, with a player count of 5 to 14, Godsville is able to support a lot of players. So, you are able to have a lot of players in this game. And as I showed you, there are added gods and roles that will meet the player count. So, everyone has a unique god. They're going to have these different roles. And where it is more complicated because you have a whole lot more to figure out, you have more members on your team that are helping you as well. So, where it is a lot more difficult as you increase with the player count, it's also easier in a different sense because you have different ways of thinking and things that players are doing to help you. But also keep in mind that other players are trying to fool you. And this is a game all about the table talk and what you're able to convince other players of. So there may be someone that is not on your team that has convinced you that they are on your team and then at the end of the game you may have been made a fool because you are able to figure out the game that they were secretly playing.

So, this is going to be one of those social deduction games where you're trying to figure out not only what is happening in the game and the roles that are on the board, but what players are saying and what they are keeping in their mind and if they might be lying to you or not. So, this has been a preview of God's Will. You can check out the campaign link down below. I've been Professor Meg. Thank you all for watching the Board Game Co channel and I'll see you next time. Bye.
