some viewers may find the following video disturbing viewer discretion is advised hey everyone welcome back to board games unlocked and Deon I are doing the discussion over Drop Drive Drop Drive the deeper Space Edition drrive which disclaimer uh face shift did reach out to me to do a review over that um but they aren't paying me so hope good of a company it really be no uh they just reached out and they was like hey we'll send you a copy if you want to do a review I'm like sure um and I was like completely honest I was like I have no idea who you guys are but I was like Drop Drive that sounds familiar to Dungeon Drop or whatever which I played the demo of at Gen Con and you bought everything for for most of yeah I believe I don't know little I don't know I got every single little micro expansion that they had but I got a good number I got everyone that was available right the time so oh freaked me out um so yeah they had they basically sent this copy and it was like here's the core game and then a bunch of like little mini micro expansions um like just little like hey this little expansion adds two tokens like the whale of Deep Thoughts yeah that adds a couple cards and a token here's something that adds a few more tokens but essentially this is very much a family game like like very just trying to have a good time like with with your kids and although you're going to know this a lot more cuz you've played Dungeon Drop way more than I have
mhm but from what I remember this feels a little bit more complex oh definitely um I mean Dungeon Drop is you draw rooms yeah you know okay you scatter everything uh they made it a little more complex with their latest one so now you have like different monsters that you fight um but yeah this one just from out of the gate is a little more mhm um where's it but yeah but the Dungeon Drop it was you draw a triangle of pillar um items pillar cubes uh and then everything within that room you collect including the monsters and if it's monsters you take however much damage their damage value is that's right um and uh yeah you you try to collect yeah your endgame goals is dependent on your little Mission and that's us how you score your gems so like your little asteroid looking things gotcha um so yeah a little more simplistic um unique abilities based on your race in your class yeah this one kind of yeah right out the gate is is like okay choose your captain they have a special ability uh then you draw like the front of your ship and the back of your ship and then this big deck of explore tokens which could be passengers could be specimens um and could be ship upgrades so like by the end of this game I was the venomous Majestic expansive Queen but I started out as the venomous Majestic Queen which basically kind of gave me a higher Drop Drive value and a lengthier ship um as well as the Majestic gave me more credits for delivering passengers uh and then the expansion just gave me an extra cargo spot
but I always thought that that was cool like there's another game that kind of does the dropping thing rattle battle grab the loot where you kind of build out your ship with wacky upgrades yeah uh I think this is neat and I like how the name can grow so if you're playing which you can play a longer game the base game of this is very quick um definitely behooves to have kind of more people um when you're playing just because that's more people we Blitz right through it in no time yeah exactly so but it's not I mean if this game was if this game was like long if it was like an hour oh it'd be a little obnoxious like okay this is not like okay we're doing the same thing cuz really like a lot of space games funny enough you're trying to get money and by the end of the game Whoever has the most money wins um and you can do that by hey your specimen cards are endgame points M uh your ship upgrades could give you a lot of credits yeah more space or more additional uh money for asteroids yeah like my Majestic was plus three credits for each passenger delivered so I can go find passengers go to the planet that they're at and and then hey here you go and then get money for that plus their special ability uh mind you this is all just the base game not even including any of the the mini EXP expansions but they even mention at the back of the rule book they're like hey Drop Drive is a Sandbox game sandbox ultimately Drop Drive is a Sandbox Style game meaning that is your experience to control be as
creative with these game modes and modifiers As You Wish uh because there's a bunch of different game modes you can they give you an extra wall so you can really make a bigger bigger planet yeah I feel like it' benefit from being a little bigger yes cuz the original one made it very tight but also that gives you your sense of exploration if you're like this is too tight uh we for I mean imagine if you have like Dungeon Drop is like I would say usually twice maybe three times right the area um and yeah and so you have your little like connected ship that you can potentially add or remove ships but it's like hey here it's your nav tool that way yeah you just like float over oh this is my path how far you can go which I think is very neat it is cool uh especially if you kind of just do it where the the rules aren't amazing it's just text but with like the way to explain the game on the side but yeah you can kind of just like okay here's my flight path boom boom boom boom boom I can get those two asteroids and that Salvage and land on the anomaly and the anomaly is oh faint signal refer to your custom rules for faint signal Chi if you do not have custom rules I draw another anomaly card oh okay well now this one is all other players take two damage okay hey space mines cuz you can also battle MH one another which that is again very simplistic you can trade go up to somebody like hey hailing frequencies Let's uh let's you know trade get some stuff around one another
or your abilities are pretty good I think I think we'll fight and roll a die and it's like oh [ __ ] n and so you just kind of lose parts of your ship uh not lose they get flipped over and if you don't have any of those you lose cargo and then you have to go to a planet to repair uh again it's not that aggressive of a game like you're not losing pieces permanently people aren't like it's more of a race see how much stuff you can connect right and and sell to a place um honestly like I I don't have much I figured like like with like with this kind of game would you would you say you should own this as well as Dungeon Drop as well as Dungeon Drop I mean I mean you if I me if you enjoy one you probably enjoy the other yeah um same mechanic um I mean if you like one you like the other uh sure I I would own I'd say it could stand alone pretty well yeah um especially this badass deeper Space Edition that was sent to me with all those all those mini like here hand me a few of those hand me a few of those bad boys which are in these little holographic sleeves that they gave Wormhole you place a wormhole token at
your location and place the other anywhere you wish in the system you may immediately enter the Wormhole placing your ship on the other planet or alternate setup before the Big Bang drop the Wormhole tokens anywhere in the system we recommend dropping them on roughly opposite sides of the Sun so that's just something you can have if you're playing with like a big uh big board and you just dro the wormholes over there and over there now you can cross you can Traverse space mines um drop two space mine tokens for each player in the game during the Big Bang uh and these things deal damage um like and they're all just kind of they're weirdly connect like the way I mean I'm not a fan of the way that they stored these mhm the holographic stuff is kind of cute but it's like when you have a bunch of tokens it just feels a little weird but they have like ways to incorporate them in the game and then also uh for an alternative setup which all of them all of them have like and some of them just include more planets like different different ways to like Edge Edge worlds which increase like how how many that you can sell and also gives it a special ability so cargo Liquidator on a toll uh you can redrop one cargo to gain two credits okay so yeah I mean ton of little variety for a game that I mean whether
the ages eight up yep yeah definitely feels like it's kind of either a filler game or a 45 minutes we went way faster than that uh yeah I mean that totally makes sense based off of just how quickly you want to sell and you I mean you just oh yep that's I'm just going to circle around there grab that and sell it and then just boom because it's number of those tokens four of those tokens per player M granted you can there's rules in there for an extended game you can increase that by per player oh okay the the game just does give you the freedom to really add add what you want um I'm personally not particularly wowed by it m uh but I know you playing Dungeon Drop you get yeah my girls yeah they enjoy it so that's um I mean there's that you need games like that you like every game doesn't need to be this 45 you know 50 cign game of Epic Proportions exactly exactly you can just add in a bunch of little mini expansions that take no time at all to just throw in you play a quick base game of drop driver and you're like okay that was that let's throw in these mini expansions there's 80 of them mhm especially with how many exploration cards there are and just kind of unique I think I think the uh I Jo the expanding ship that's fun that is that
is a lot of fun um even just from the get-go from your setup of where what your starting ship is to the back of your ship you're just like neat like I'm the venomous Queen and they also have ways for you to like oh okay well I have a fuel thing I'm going to spend that and that lets me drop drive my ship near in this case another ship or another planet hey I'm going to spend this fuel cuz I really need to get to the graen planet and I'm all the way on the other side of the thing so spend this Fuel and drop it now I can make it there um yeah so I think this is a game that if you have kids um and you just want a fun relaxing uh game day think this is definitely a game too definitely check out pick one uh yeah any I mean you you said it was basic it was different enough from drop Dungeon Drop oh yeah for sure little more uh how do I put it um purpose oh okay I guess um you know Direction yeah uh cuz before it's like okay I a triangle it's a room I loot this room yeah um you get all the contents and then you know sometimes the way it drops you get get a pretty [ __ ] loaded room and of course like obviously I'm going to go for that one yeah um and they can set you up pretty good cuz was there anything in Dungeon Drop That kind of helped spread out the stuff cuz in here they actually put the sun in the middle and the Sun is kind of a deterrent because you can't fly over
it you can't fly near it you can't touch it yeah no it's a really just a drop in the middle um and it goes from there got it no no like Center thing to aim for yeah and a lot of stuff when you're dropping or redro the sun is where you're dropping and it's rounded off um to kind of hopefully help disperse it but it it is like a modifier so it's not just kind of like oh sorry I was stuck to my hand and it all shoots to one side uh or in this case it does still shoot to one side but they even have the rules where it's like hey if all players agree that it didn't fall favorably redrop mhm so maybe that's they just kind of took this and modified Dungeon Drop a little bit Yeah I think the drop mechanic what can we do with this drop we' developed yeah we could do space that's true yeah well we have fantasy let's do sci-fi uh can wait for uh drop Western yeah or it's the Western theme drop cthulu like Drop Pirates yeah drop Pirates which yeah back in the day rattle battle grab the loot did that dice kind of battle drop system that was unique at the time and then it just went nowhere MH uh this is definitely a lot better than that that because of just the sheer variety that you can throw in it's cute it's cute I'd play it again and be like oh yeah sure let's let's let's uh let's let's let's toss some [ __ ] around uh other than that on the scale
of 1 to 10 what are you giving Drop Drive oh 9.9 amazing 9.9 amazing guys just sheer just perfection almost perfect the perfect game no um like cute I mean you'd get more out of this than I ever would yeah I'll give it I feel like I've been giving everything a seven lately but I'll give it a seven seven I'll give it a seven yeah that's that's where I'm at it's safe it's a good game it is a safe number I mean it's not like it's not blowing any record books but it's fun it's like yeah above average I I have a good time with it and I'm not going to feel bad and yeah good game yeah I mean setting it up I mean set up and set and tear down is like going to be fine I mean honestly what you could just do is all the stuff that is always going to be generated just throw it in a bag like and then just just drop it in there yeah um and other than that other than the the mini expansions which you just I mean are organized at least somewhat in those things it's relatively quick so it's a it it'd be a solid filler like you play a game of root and then you're like okay we need a breather and then you play this and you're like ah pallet cleanser and it's not going to be Cutthroat it's not going to be weird this is definitely like a beer and pretzels game just where am I going to go uh yeah yeah seven out of 10 so that's our thoughts on Drop Drive less than you think of the game in the comments below other than that like
