So hopefully it's making its way through the radio waves to you. And we're going to play some distilled cocktails. If I can push everything out here. I'm zoomed out quite a bit, so probably text and stuff might not be that clear zoomed out, but we can zoom in on things. Not the sh not as sharp as I'd like it, but there's a lot to this. You might have seen like it's about a year and a week ago that the playthrough went up for the Kickstarter for this uh which was with you know the the base game but a prototype of the expansion which was like pretty final looking but one thing it didn't have was solo compatibility yet which it now has the same you know David Digby designed a great solo mode for the original that if you're new to distilled and you'd like to see it with less parts Then I have definitely done at least maybe there's another one as well, but there's at least a stream of me doing the solo mode. Maybe there's more than that. And there's definitely a two-player playthrough from last year of Cocktails the expansion, which is a great big expansion of things. Amy, good. Thank you very much. Ever since it stopped telling me people's names just in the the chat used to be the names people wanted to be called rather than everyone's username. So cocktails is a huge expansion that has several new big bits. Like it's got a second washback so you can potentially make two drinks around if you can afford to. It has got this world map and cocktails. When you make drinks, you can later, if you get the right additive stuff, uh you can make cocktails out them if you've got the right recipes and stuff, and that will earn you renown, which lets you place discs out onto the world map if you were the first into a space.

7:07 There are bonuses to be had there. Uh being in multiple regions at once will enable you to get special bonuses, and you'll get points for being out here later as well. What else? Oh, yeah. The cocktails will earn you different kinds of cocktail glasses. And the number of different glasses you've got at the end will be multiplied by the points showing on your renown board. So, up to five times your glasses. And there are also these collectors out here when you sell something they care about. So, bronze, silver, or signature recipe. There are also on some cards gold recipes as well. The recipes are divided into bronze, silver, and gold. This particular setup we've got doesn't have any gold ones. Uh but if if you sell one of the type that they care about that's worth at least the points that they care about, then you can choose to, you know, when you make a drink, you get the spirit token. You can choose to put it on one of your four new spaces that don't have very big bonuses on them, but they let you either take a thing from the map board in regions that you qualify for, or if the thing you're selling qualifies for one of these people, uh you can and the token's still there. So, if I sold something from Aquavit, which is a bronze recipe, and it was worth seven points or more, I could decide to put it up here for a kind of smallalish bonus now, but I would take this token, and that get me a point for every uh every spirit token I'd made that involved uh fruit sugars. And you can see the

8:39 recipes that care about fruit sugars on your your tasting flight. What it's called? Testing flight. Tasting flight, isn't it? So, they're the three big new things. You can just turn on the tasting flight on it. The not the tasting flight, the second washback on its own comes in on this side and your bonus board comes in on this side. So, you've just got four new slots there, just four points each. Uh, you pay to use your second wash back. It gets you the unlock and an alcohol card, but it gets more and more expensive. the more times that you do it. Uh, and it gives you an extra distillery space for an upgrade stroke staff member and an extra warehouse space to be aging things.

9:29 But if you want to turn on the full stuff and play with cocktails and everything, it all flips over to this side where instead of those two extra spaces, you have got these distillery bar spaces which can contain your cocktail tokens. Yeah, the solo mode as well, by the way, is just the there are more cards for the B and C decks all mixed in and all of the A cards. So, the the hardest goals when you're playing the expansion, you use the A cards that came with the expansion. They don't get mixed together, they get replaced. Uh, but it's the same. If you haven't seen the solo working before, we've got this barrel here of goals, and we start at the bottom, and we need to satisfy one of these goals. So, either collect a cocktail glass token, you'll do that by making a cocktail, or distill two nonvodka spirits in a round. That's a lot trickier. Uh, but doing that will activate a token above it, which gets the bot something. It It basically increases your target score in different ways. They'll either take tokens away from the collectors, take cocktail recipes away, put renown out on the map, uh, and then just like the original solo game, if I was to do this left one, for example, I would then reveal these two and I have to do one of these now. And then whichever one I do, if I was to do this one, then I would only qualify for these two. And you've got to work your

11:00 way up to do some something on every level. You can't go back down. and you have to you have to do one of the A's. The B and the A are going to give you a target score. And in the expansion, the bot is say potentially going to get some more points from these tokens giving them things. So, looking at the skills that are out there, the goals that are out there right now, collect a cocktail glass token. Seems easy. You've just got to make a cocktail. And then all the way at the top is collect five cocktail glass tokens, one of each type. trickier because we've got to get the right cards and be able to make those cocktails to get one of each. But if we're starting with cocktails, maybe we could really lean into that. The other one is collect non eight non-agged spirit labels. That's a lot easier actually because it doesn't say not moonshine and vodka. You can always make moonshine unless all of the tokens have gone.

11:57 That's a non-agged spirit. So, eight of those seems a lot easier. It's more points you need. So, I was thinking like we'd be restricted if I need to cross over potentially, but if both of them are nice options, that wouldn't be too bad, would it? Throw you out onto a canoe. I've been on a canoe. His favorite cocktail? I don't know. I've probably The cocktails are things that I'd prefer. I don't really drink, but when when I have drunk things that are like things that taste the least like alcohol or my favorite things.

12:44 So, lots of fruity flavors, lots of sugar. I should have just said this was a cocktail. I should have just flicked through the rule book at um it has for cocktails actually got a nice They have got someone Dr. drink well a mixologist or is that some different uh to you list all of these cocktails and the I don't know if it's like a special um Kickstartery thing. Uh but there's a there's a few cards in the box that have got the actual recipes for some of these things in there. I should have said it was a seab breeze. That's the right color, isn't it? I haven't got any slices of lime though, right?

13:29 An RPG game came with cocktail recipes. I think if I was spend any time anywhere, then I would be I'd be smuggling in as many games as I possibly could. I could stay sane, right? So, let's go. What do we do in a round? Start of round stuff. Anything with this like power button symbol on it is a start of round effect. I am Aldrich. I know I was Aldrich in the playthrough last year, but I wanted to be the vampire again. The person that you choose and the four new people that come with the expansion are compatible with any tasting flight. The people from the base game, bring this down a little bit here. It's not just not all going to fit in the angle, is it? Um, yeah, the people from the base game were only compatible with certain ones. Like this is the G tasting flight, so only some of the people would be compatible.

14:25 All the people from the expansion are compatible with everything. You just have to be playing the cocktail stuff. Uh, so I start off with two money. Got to get the Marty Bucks out. I start off with a yeast and a water. And these are two of the three minimum things you need to make a spirit. You need a yeast, you need a water, and you need a sugar of some sort. whether that is grain sugar, plant sugar, or fruit sugar. So, I need to get one of them if I want to make some uh booze this round. I can get my signature recipe through doing a goal. Uh I can get my signature sugar from putting it on one of these spaces. It's somewhere. Um there you are. Signature ingredients. And I have a signature recipe that I can make only once for which I'm going to need two fruit sugars. One of them must be apples.

15:16 Could be my special apples. Could be apples that you buy from the market. But the point is my start of roundability. There are seven rounds in the game. I get any one of the cocktail uh enhancements ingredients. And I am looking at this screwdriver over here. I mean, I could get that made fairly quickly, I think. So, I am going to choose the shot glass, I think. So, I'm going to get that into my inventory. Yeah, that's what I'm going to game. Then, we have the market phase. So, in player order, the solo game in this, there is kind of someone now competing with you on the map, but generally there is nothing. They aren't taking turns.

16:04 They aren't getting in your way in the market phase and stuff. you are largely playing the game yourself, but you're trying to bend to the will of these gold and the target score that you need to keep. [snorts] Uh, so usually you would take turns to buy stuff. You can buy things. Oh, that's not the right button, is it? Is that the right button? Nope. Is that right? Oh, no. This is the right button for that. I haven't got enough. Uh, I need three on one side, and that's not how my buttons are laid out. Uh, so you can buy stuff from the basic market. only two of these per round. Uh, you can buy the basic stuff you need, yeast and water. You can buy the basic fruit sugars, grains free, one cost for the plants. It's in this tag down here how much it costs. I only start with two money. So, barrels that you need for aged spirits. Can't afford any of that.

16:54 You can buy cocktails. Now, the price is underneath where the card is, and the price you pay is how many mixers you can gain from the fridge over there. We have these lovely dice to fill it back up with. And this is a thing that's I don't think in everything. Uh but this beautiful cocktail shaker dice roller that I can't wait to use again that's got like thought it was a cool idea anyway. But it's all like covered in foam on the inside. It's what you want from a dice cup in it. Uh you can also buy stuff from the main market out here. Upgrades have either equipment or specialists. They give you stuff. They might give you stuff once per market phase. You can discount a barrel by two at start of every round gain of money.

17:43 Things like that. Premium ingredients. So work just like the others may be worth make your drinks worth more money. Give you different effects and things be worth some points whereas the basic ones aren't worth any points in themselves. uh and items which can be better versions of we we've got basic bar we've got basic bottles and barrels that just get you like a money each. Nothing particularly special about them and that's all you need. But if you would like more effects and to get more points and things then you can get uh premium versions of them in the item market. I think that's all of the bits that we can buy. So, what I'm thinking of is I want to buy this screwdriver recipe that'll go into my distillery bar. It's going to cost me one of my starting two and I can take something. So, I'm going to take this juice. If after you've taken something, at the end of your turn, if there are three or fewer tokens here, you put everything out that's on these dice and reroll the dice.

18:52 Obviously, that hasn't happened yet. Oh, and then you get an extra one for being the person that had to refill it. That hasn't happened right now. So, we slide along and restock. And we've got uh a daquiri out there. So, on the cocktails, we have got the ingredients we need. You can either do the basic one. So, I just I've got the ingredients for that now, a juice and a shot glass. Or I could do two of each to get two renown. That's two discs out on the board, two bonuses. Uh I've got 16 of these. There's four in each stack. Uh and number of shot glasses you've got at the end, number of different uh glasses you've got from these cocktails is multiplied by the number of points showing here. So, could be a good way of getting points if you're going to go for a lot of cocktails.

19:39 So, you might want to go for the better thing. You can only go for one of them. Uh, if you use vodka to make your cocktails, minus one renown. So, there'll be absolutely no point. You'd get the cocktail glass and stuff, but I would get no renown for making the basic thing and using vodka, which is all I can hope to make right now. So, I can't afford cost two to get a better recipe. Um, so yeah, and it needs to be done with something that use wheat sugars. Some require aged things as well, but not this particular one. So, I've got myself a recipe there. My two basic things. I think I'm just going to take grain sugar and hope that I can make But making a moonshine wouldn't be terrible because I would get more money out of it.

20:36 And it's a non-agged spirit, so maybe I don't want to take the grains. I do want free things as well. And I want to have like one of these goals is sell a spirit containing five sugars or more. So loading up on them might be worth it. Yeah, I'm going to I'm going to get two grain sugar, which cost me nothing each. That's my limit from the basic market. I don't think I want any more cocktails. Cocktails do restock straight away like everything else, don't they? Haven't got confused with everything else. Yeah, that's the setup of it.

21:19 Yeah, then slide them with refill. Refill all of the things when you take them. One of the things is have upgrades. Collect three equipment upgrades is a potential goal. They're so expensive. There's only one out at the moment. It costs five. So, no chance of that happening right now. I've got one money. Nothing out here costs them money. I could get another cocktail recipe gimlet. Oh, the other thing you can buy is just three mixers out of here cost you two. So, I think I'm probably done in the market phase. I can't buy any new recipes. I can't buy anything else. So, we're going to go for making stuff, I think. So, in the distill phase, you need to place cards in your washback.

22:06 So, I have to put in at least one water and at least one yeast and at least one sugar. I could put both of them in. I might want to hold on so I can get loads of sugars later, but the reason that I'm going to put them both in is that's what I'm making. For every sugar that's in your washback, you take an alcohol card. And then you distill it by shuffling all of these things together. On the back, it's just all says ingredients. So, you're going to shuffle all of these together. And it gets distilled by removing the top and bottom cards of the deck. I'm kind of hoping the sugars get removed so I can use them again.

22:55 The alcohol is worth money. So, I wouldn't mind that being in there. But alcohol can be used as a wild card instead of yeast or water. So, we're removing the top, which is an alcohol, and the bottom, which is a yeast. So, I've lost both of my sugars. They go back into me pantry to be used in the future. And we look now at what's in here and see what it counts as. So if there were no sugars left in it, if these had both got removed, it has to be a moonshine. That's the only thing you can make with no sugar. But as it is, it can be a vodka that can have any sugars in it. It would have qualified like there's two grain sugar in this. It could have been a soju if I'd had that recipe unlocked, but I would have had to pay two to get that unlocked. And I wanted the cocktail before it got discarded. So I'm not too sad about that. So this is going to be a vodka because it's got sugar in it.

23:52 So, I grabbed this. I put I have to put it in a barrel. Everyone's got their basic barrels that just get reused again and again, their metal barrel. And that is a vodka in this barrel. Then we come to the cell phase. Vodka is a spirit that can't be aged, so you have to sell it. So, you can sell one spirit per turn. Can you sell more when you make more? I have this spirit token. You look at how much your thing is worth. There'll be money in this corner. One, two, three money. And down here, there might be points. So, I get myself three more multi book. It's not a lot, but it's something.

24:41 And then I can place my spirit token somewhere. So, would I like three basic ingredients, a free upgrade? I could grab that orchard, a free item, a free recipe, a free ingredient, probably not a free recipe. Discard a card from your pantry to take any card from the truck. They're the discard piles. Move your signature ingredient to the pantry. Not yet. Five money or two points. I'm leaning towards the five money. But if I took an ingredient, I could have this coupon here. Now, when you go to make stuff, you can discard one thing from your pantry to swap it for something from the basic market.

25:31 You can't do that with yeast or water. But, you know, you can you can discard like premium things to get a basic thing. If it's turned out that like it hasn't worked out for you anymore, this turns into two basic ingredients. So, might be good for getting, you know, the multiple sugars. But I think the most flexible thing for me to do is to just go out and grab five money. Get me five Marty bucks, please. So, what have I got now? Nine to work with next round. That should be a little bit more freeing. A little bit. Uh, so I have sold my vodka. It's gone on there. I get my barrel back. All of this goes away. So, it's all basic stuff. So, it just goes back onto the piles.

26:20 So, phase age fa Oh, then we have the Oh, the age phase still goes next. Then it's the new cocktails phase. Uh, anything that you distilled that's an aged one must be aged at least once. It goes down here. It gets a flavor chord added to it. Uh, and everything already aging in there gets another flavor chord. And then we have the new cocktails phase. So in turn order, serve a cocktail per round. I don't have to and I'm not going to because I could do this. I would get a cocktail done and you can only do one a round. You have to have a spirit that doesn't have a cocktail glass on it. I would pay these two. I would get one renown minus one for it being a vodka. But I would get this cocktail glass. So something would be getting done. But I'd like to save it and try to have a better thing made this round or spend this stuff so I could get two renown minus one. So I'd still be putting something out. Ideally though, make something different and be able to put two things out would be lovely. So I'm not going to do anything in the cocktails phase. Then we have the end of round.

27:24 We don't have any spirit awards. Uh we did sell otherwise you can hold a tasting lose up to four points to get uh four money. There was no points for that one. Oh, I'm forgetting on this. I get another money and two points. I have two points, everybody. Uh, move the round marker forward. Run round two. Then first place doesn't matter. We won't be discarding down to two goals. Okay. Oh, we need to discard stuff. we reveal the next B card for the AI and these cards get discarded. Usually in a two-player game, it's all of these the the first two I think that are left get discarded. And that's still true for cocktails.

28:16 But in the main market, this grid gets discarded. And if they discard something with a forklift on it, uh, then they get for every one they discard, they get one of these pile of tokens. Uh, so there we go. That's one. They get this token and I resolve it. So at the end of my turn, I resolve them all

I think we haven't got any sugar right now, have we? It's tempting to stay with the cheapest sugar. Aquavit can also be grain or the plant min. Oh, we need to slide these along now and see new things. So, maybe you want to work on upgrades. Everything's useful to have. Some more bottles. Oh, you've all got forklifts on. You're going to get the loads of tokens. Got some grapes. Got some premium wheat there.

I'd prefer to get that for free. Free upgrade. Cool. Let's just go on barrels. Gain two money if you have at least one spirit in your warehouse. I'm at the moment not aging stuff. And if I'm going for this, eight non-agged spirit labels. Maybe I'm not going to do that. Okay. Started round. I get something, don't I? So, I think we'll go for another juice. So, I only need the shot glass. If I buy this recipe, that's going to get me two things. I think I'm going to do it. Is that Oh, that's the same cocktail glass though. What about this one or this one?

I wouldn't normally do it but I'm thinking of buying one of these coupons. It's also a forklift thing that they wouldn't be discarding. Um, you can discord a token when you really need to

Cuz if you've got three grain sugar, only two are getting removed. So, you would definitely end up making the thing you want. It wouldn't be the worst thing if we ended up with vodka, would it? Oh, the only aging thing in this flight is whiskey that does want grain sugar, which is what I'm getting. It's a silver recipe that cost four to be able to do these recipes that want you to have An agent thing like that be quite nice. Thinking I can get a free item. That wood barrel is something that I could grab and leave that agent for a while. It's just hard if you don't sell anything. You can lose points to get some money, but you might think make things tough for yourself, but it could be worth loads by the time you come to sell it and loads of extra points if you've aged it a bit.

It could be nice to save the coupon to do five things in a row, but I don't think that's going to happen because that's a while away on the goals. You can only do it once, which is quite a nice tempting thing to have. Having upgrade, having equipment upgrades might be a nice thing. Could be a bit more reckless with recipes if I know I can put one thing back in. Yeah, let's go for a free upgrade. There it is. Three basic ingredients to help you get that sugar as well. Next time we'll get that. I'm going to have an upgrade. It's worth a point at the end of the game as well. So, that's the cell phase. Now, we have the cocktails phase. One cocktail per round. unused spirit label of a specific type.

So here, maybe a cocktail umbrella. And the way you So I can choose to put any spirit labels up here. And when you do, you can either take one of the tiles from the collector if you qualified for it by the right recipe at the right points, or if you're in the two regions described next to one of these tokens, you can take that token. So if I went for say a mixed grains and a cocktail umbrella, I would be in these two regions. you have to spread out from where you already are in the future. Uh, I would be in these two regions and I could claim that as a bonus, buy a card from the premium market at four discounts, which might get me something for free.

42:50 Or what if we were in Europe and Africa? That would be two alcohol cards and a renown, helping me spread out more. Uh, for every time you're in all the regions, you get three points. If you placed six out into the board, you get three points. Yeah, every region you have six renown in you're in every space of it. Some are blocked off in a two-player game, which is how it's set up.
