Sunday Painting night Wild Assent!

0:02 going live greetings welcome to meet me at the table painting table we are going to meet at the painting table i try to do this at least once a week so that we can all have some fun seeing what people are painting talk about the week and enjoy each other's company that's my goal every time we do one of these today i've you looked at the sheet or the what do you call the little thing that tells you what's going on uh the i guess would be the name of the video it's we are going to be painting up some wild scent figures that's my plan i've got someone working on my goal is to get through that entire campaign i really want to do that so we're going to paint up a few more of these we have just a couple left in that book it's kind of nice because at least i can kind of see what things were fighting i don't really know how it's all gonna come to fruition as we play through it but it's pretty cool that way so let's take a look at the thing we are planning to paint at least the first thing we've got a few things here we've got some and i'm not exact sure we're gonna do it all we're just gonna kind of go with it as we go and we'll see what happens a lot of fun so from the paint cam that i have here we are going to be working on this lava fiend this is the deal here he is mainly orange and black so i'll see what i can do about this he's got some yellow coming out of him i've already started painting him up a little bit i put some orange on him which was which one was it i think it was my uh griffin hound orange is what we already put on him which is pretty cool looks really neat so that's the first thing we've done already i'm going to try to figure out

1:33 what we're going to do about this guy after that and i've noticed i hit some of the bass down here and i'm not too worried about that let's take a look at it from here hopefully this works i've hit some of the base with some of that orange but again not too worried about it this is what he looks like right now this is really just primer and contrast paint that's how awesome the contrast paint is and how much i really like contrast paint it's fantastic so that's what we've done so far let's i think what we're going to do is we're going to start i want to put a heavy dry brush of black on him and just kind of see what happens and then maybe follow it up with a little bit of yellow and see if that works that's going to be our plan we'll see what we can do so i'm going to grab some black from here as you can see i have my whole set of paints here this is all contrast and then i have some army painter a full set of old army painter paints and honestly these army painter paints i've had for a long long time they have lasted way longer than anything i've ever gotten from citadel i have some old citadel paints let's see if i can find some of them here's a few of them i got some old citadel paints sitting over here and well really they're they're they're they're dead they're dead here totally dead inside dead inside kind of like that so i got nothing nothing about these citadel paints anymore sadly there was a lot of paint left in these that's how it goes i haven't had any issues with contrast paints drying out of me yet which is good but i haven't had them as long as i had some of these other paints so we're gonna grab black let's see if we can see here i'm gonna grab some black shake it up a little bit now i shake them up if you need to you don't always have to not the end of the world we're gonna go back down here i'm gonna put a little bit of black onto this entire ring of paint thing here and that i

3:04 never clean off because i don't need to i've got so many of these it's ridiculous and after i do get this to the point where i don't like anymore i can just come out here with anything just this stuff all just scrapes right off super easy to just get rid of this stuff all right off so i'm not too worried about it i get that off when i need to but let's see we are going to throw some i'll just put some black right here there we go a couple drips totally fine i'm going to try dry brushing this black on here but i want to do it pretty heavily i don't want it like a short we're gonna we're gonna start kind of unheavy and see what happens here so i'm gonna i'm using the citadel dry brush is what they call it i don't know i've they're they're so i have so many dry brushes i get this other dry brush here that i use sometimes but i think this is really my best one i guess i don't know do i have a best one not really take this you if you've ever seen anybody dry brush they usually take the paint and they wipe it off like this so we'll see how that goes got it all mostly off here dan it's good to see you thank you for joining me at the painting table today you're still waiting on your copy of this game with with wave one all in for le'veon rising kickstarter thanks for making me crazy with anticipation you are so welcome yes this i got yeah this was the original kickstarter stuff so i also backed all the new stuff coming out too so i'm pretty excited for it but we're going to try to do like a heavy driver so we look at the picture here a lot of it is very black i know i got a lot of glare on this because mainly this is set up for painting not for like showing off things but there's a lot of black but um there's also this orange so i want to kind of keep the orange and the recesses so we're going to try to just paint this over the top a little bit black here and see how it goes we're going to get this really dark in here but i don't want to

4:36 get it too much onto the orange recesses so we're going to really dig right into this thing and see if we can get some black on this guy here i think it's working okay i'm actually pretty okay with this so far see how it goes and if we do get a little bit too far in the orange you know i'm not the it's not the end of the world but it's kind of a lava fiend so he's got a lot of love on it oh my gosh it's turning out way better than i thought it would oh look at that it's glorious super glorious right now we've got his head done you can still see some of the orange and the cracks which is what i was really going for there we got some of that orange in the cracks this really is just a heavy dry brush i'm not using a lot of ink on it or i'm using a lot of ink i should say more than i normally would with a dry brush but it's working out pretty good again it's hopefully just hitting the upper parts of the model that's my plan to hit a lot of these upper parts here and see how it goes wow it's looking okay now my driver's starting to become a little too dry so we're gonna get a little more paint on it here you got more paint we're going to give it wipe off that paint you do go you actually use a little more paint than you normally would if you're painting normally doing dry brush but i think i'll be okay here we go okay now this one alright we're going to start over here again see how this goes i'm starting off lightly hitting it because i know this the paint's a little more thick on there at the beginning but then as we go i'm going to probably start hitting a little bit harder because it it's the paint will be less on there but now this is turning out pretty good it's turning a lot better than i thought it would that's for sure

6:07 so i'm not sure how many have played wild ascent yet from the original kickstarter but i have really enjoyed this game this game is a lot of fun it's really enjoying i've been playing that prologue campaign on my channel if you're interested in seeing it please go check it out i have videos up on it um i really enjoy the game so far it's quick it's light it's really really fun and the story is really well done i was actually impressed by how like how good the story was actually had some i like again it has that concept where um it's i got a lot of character development and the character development is all like named i'm really starting to like those games where they have more names than they have actual uh they just call out the people's adventurers so these characters all have names which is really cool and i like that a lot i think that's really neat so we're going to continue on doing dry brush here let's see on the sky and see how it's in his mouth i got some in his mouth not a big deal i'm actually going to paint that with real paint in a little bit and hopefully get that out of there i'm gonna paint it with yellow maybe or something because there is some yellow on this i don't know how we're gonna do the yellow i think we're gonna keep him as black and orange and we might just do his mouth now now at this point i've gotten a lot of the paint off of this brush so now i'm just really going at it i'm just really hitting like really digging into that model it's way in there and that's just kind of how i do it is that the right way who knows whatever is the right way is the way that works for you that's the right way to paint that's the deal a little more on this brush i think we're gonna be almost done with this guy wow that could tell you right now that worked a lot better than i thought it would i'm just going to scrape some of it off there we go that should be pretty good move that let's hear all i gotta do is get through his tail here

7:38 and again i'm going to start out kind of light i'm going to hit my i already know i'm going to hit my thumb here it's gonna be awesome i'm gonna paint my thumb that'll be fantastic some of my favorite things to do if you don't paint yourself you're not painting the model right let's see dig in there if i can i can try to squeak in here and get all around inside there now i can't see what i'm doing over here and you know sometimes you just gotta navigate by feel i'm just rubbing the brush i'm really just grinding that brush in there because i can't really even see what's going on down there i hope i think i got a little bit too black on that but you know what that's okay like i said this is an organic looking creature so it's not the end of the world if it doesn't get if it gets too black in certain places here and just grinding in there and again on the tabletop it's gonna look just fine doesn't have to be perfect see painted my health awesome painted myself with the black paint and that is actually turning out pretty good so that looks a lot more crumbly and crust like of like a lava like hitting oxygen and just kind of really darkening itself that looks pretty good let's get a little more underneath this foot here see if i can now i have to figure out what we're gonna do about that base and that base i'm gonna have to redo a little bit here because of course i'm hitting it not only with the black but i hit it with the orange and all that too not the end of the world all right i think that looks pretty good wow all right what do you think i think it looks okay let's see here's what it is with all that dry brush on now there's a really thick black driver just see if i

9:10 can adjust my hand to make the camera work because that's half the battle here these cameras do what i want to do i should actually i think i'm going to set this one to auto focus close next time but you can still kind of see a little bit of the orange in it if i get in there which is just fine so from the table top this might look a lot more black than i think i probably should have made it but that's okay we got some cool things we're going to do there because we do have some of this yellow now i want to work on next we're going to get some of this yellow in his mouth and maybe i can maybe maybe i can put a little yellow in there not to mention this guy look at this guy spitting fireballs i'm not going to fireballs but i'm still going to paint up his mouth a little yellow there so this brush is super full of black paint i'm just going to dunk it in the water here sort of and since the dry brush i don't mind if you can hear me clicking around in there because i'm just digging it into the bottom of that thing to try to get all this black paint off it i really want to get this dry brush on black now because i'm probably going to use it later and i don't want it full of black paint that's me the plant that's pretty good i'm just going to kind of dry and you also kind of want to dry off your dry brush i know it sounds kind of dry off your dry brush there you go that's the quote of the day dry off your dry brush there you go boom that should be pretty good all right i'll put that guy away let's see we need some yellow and i'm going to go back to my army painters and this because i've already used the contrast it's really tough to paint brighter contrast on top of darker contrast so with the orange being a darker color i'm gonna go with the yellow here and see what i can do about that and that's gonna be the plan let's see here just put a little dab of yellow

13:03 super detailed way more detailed than some of the other models i've painted in the past um they wow they they're really detailed and i just remembered i was supposed to bring out the models that i've painted before in the past and i totally forgot again wow i am i'm just terrible i'm going to put a binder on myself i'm going to put that in my i'm going to put it actually in the description of the next painting video so you guys can see you all can see some of the stuff that i painted in the past like so my first stuff so you really can see kind of over time just painting is things have gotten better and like i've said before a lot of the stuff i learned from painting really was just checking up things on the internet um i used i've watched a lot of uh rob's tabletop world he uh is a fantastic painter when it comes to painting up miniatures so i've watched a lot of his stuff now again we're just going to try to get inside this mouth here and see if we can get some yellow in there and then we've got one more guy over here i think he's i think his mouth is closed though so he doesn't get any yellow in the mouth his mouth's closed we're just going to keep going here put a little more yellow in there boom all around him there i think that's gonna be pretty good again not too worried about i don't like the way that mouth looks let's see like this see if we get this right and there we go just like that you know it's kind of hard to see but there's a little bit of yellow in there there we go that's the best oh that's awesome my wife is upstairs putting on putting one of my kids to bed and they're going to see if watching paint dry i'll put them to bed that's that's that's hilarious

14:36 that's good work all the best i hope that works for you watching paint dry sometimes puts me to sleep but good thing painting doesn't put me to sleep just watching paint dry i think we're done with this guy okay so that was the episode i hope you enjoyed it no i'm totally kidding totally kidding there's a lot of other stuff i'm planning to paint tonight uh yeah but i think this is it i'm okay i'm digging this guy the way he is totally finding him he's gonna be on the table he's gonna get destroyed by our guys i hope maybe if i can focus on him there we go boom there he is he's all done i did that dark draw a real thick dry brush on him maybe i should put something on his back i don't really know what no i'm going to keep him just like this we're done we're done with this guy i do have to fix his base though so we're going to use this gray sear gray as the plan here i'm going to shake it up a little bit my grease here is getting a little dry because i've had it for a while here and again i don't know what it is but some of this gw paint starts drying a little bit but i want to put it in my little paint holder here so don't go all over the place anymore uh i will tell you ryan from eepledation actually sent this to me this is pretty awesome it holds my paint so i don't fall on the floor i'm not a fan of paint on the floor um i've only dropped paint on the floor once good news we've replaced that carpet since then so i don't have to worry about it which is pretty good i'm just going to touch up the base here i should be using a bigger brush and this is ridiculous my detail brush this brush isn't going to do anything i guess brush need a bigger brush i've got three different size brushes i like we're gonna use the bigger one here

16:08 there you go got it let's put some paint on the brush i'm gonna be if for those of you wondering what we're recording recording next it actually is gonna be wild scent my goal is to get this to the table i'm planning to work on trying to finish that campaign because i really like it i really really like it i think it's great and i'm hoping to have a special guest for the final episode of it we'll see if it works out um i have played a little bit of this with colin he enjoyed it so i'm hoping that maybe he can join us on the final battle in the campaign i think that'll be a lot of fun that'll be the plan at least see how it all transpires if we get the timing to work and everything i think every i think everyone has filled their null and oil at least once or twice this is true actually it's funny my melon oil if it isn't if i can find it yeah is one of the ones i've had to redo this paint i've had to have this my second one compared to all the other ones yes because that's the one actually spilled on the carpet that luckily we have replaced since then oh my gosh totally have spilled known oil oh fatal paper cut you know what you're talking about that's awesome let's get some more gray on here oh my gosh that's fantastic let's see a little bit more in there i'm just trying to touch these up with gray because i'm really just going to do a null and oil wash over this base i'm not

17:38 going to do anything special with it there's no reason to um i think it'll be just fine the way it is because that's it does have some one thing i do notice about this is that they have a lot of really cool textures dan did you just make that pot holder not like using the spray can cap technique funny you should mention that yes i know dan you mentioned this last time you said hey just use the spray top can oh yeah that's a good idea uh actually uh one of the uh ryan from meeple nation sent this to me over since the last time i did a painting video he goes i got something for you i'm gonna send it to you and he sent me this look at this thing this thing's cool i think this is great it's made up that's really neat all right i think our guy i think we got this done so that's that's why i'm not using that little technique i've got this awesome paint holder now i would have no i don't know why i would never thought of meeting one of these but this is awesome i really appreciate it ryan did this for me over meeple nation if you haven't seen his channel please go check it out he does some painting stuff he does some unboxing stuff he does some play throughs he does a fantastic job he's a really nice guy cool cool guy he does a great job go check him out i strongly support him he's good stuff let's see what else we got a little bit in there i'm going to hit the tail here we go i'm going to see if i can get that in there all right so i have managed to make this base completely gray again and i am going to keep it that way and we're going to null and oil this thing at the end of the video that's going to be our plan because i'm going to let that gray dry now so the gray on the base is painted over i painted all the stuff where i hit with orange and black and things like that that's the plan all right that's our first one today our

19:11 second one is going to be this guy we are going to paint the rock guy we'll see we can do about this guy now there we go zoom on it i think next time we do this i'm going to make this the area where this camera zooms into that's me the plan so i have to sit there and you don't have to waste your time for me to get this thing to zoom in so he's got a lot going on here but most of it is going to be uh gray and brownish i mean it's right here let's take a look at it let's see what we got so we got this guy look at him hmm i could just keep from the gray and i might do that and just null and oil him and then use some blue in the area where the blue is and how my dry brush will blew around it just to make it look like it's more organic and glowing off of this thing if i had my airbrush it'd be really cool to paint blue in here because if those of you haven't seen an airbrush paint sometimes sometimes when you hit a spot it'll actually spray out a little bit it's kind of almost like it's like a sun pattern where it kind of sprays out kind of like a tie dye so it's sometimes you can actually get some really cool effects like that because that way it looks like it's hitting this this main spot but it kind of spread like slowly around it it actually does doesn't hit as much so it looks really cool but i'm not gonna do that that's gonna be the plan yeah your holder is better than you have connections oh that's true your holders are better you have connections this is true all right so let's see here but he's kind of brown but i think we're going to keep him gray what do you think i think we should keep it gray just go with the null and oil that makes me want to do something with the rocks down there to

20:41 see oh i got a plan i think i got a plan see we can do i'm going to do yeah yeah we're gonna do an ellen oil wash over the top of this thing and then we're gonna do some dry brushing on top of that i think that'll look really cool oh maybe i should do what if i do this let's see what this was okay we might try this i got some egg rex earth shade this is more of a brownish shade maybe i can put that over the top of it and then dry brush it a little bit white on top of that or should i just go with the nullen oil oh that's a hard call hard call i know i want to keep these blue that's what we're going to paint those at the end these things right in here we're going to paint these at the end i think we're going to go with i'm going to try our grass earth shade this would be a bad call bad idea we'll see where it goes but it does look kind of brownish so i thought why don't we do this it's a horned it's a horned guy on the floor a horned golem so that might not even be really rock but it does look very rocky oh we're going to go ahead so we're going to take some of this egg racks our shade here we go let me give this a shot here and it fits right in there perfectly snug as a bug in a rug as they say you haven't heard that and i'm because i'm too old all right we get a little bit on our brush here actually get a lot on our brush we need a lot of this on our brush that's the deal see just dripping off of this brush and that's totally fine we're going to just run it all over this model and that's just fine run it in there all down this thing just like that get it everywhere just all over this thing but the hard one thing you want to watch out for when it comes to washes is they have a

22:14 tendency to pool and so as they're drying i kind of keep on painting around it to kind of keep moving the stuff around because i don't want it to pool in a certain area because then it gets really dark in that area now i do have another paint which is kind of cool and i bought it by accident i didn't mean to and i'll show it to you in just a second after we get working on this guy so we're getting that paint in there and trying to prevent it from pooling as i'm painting around him i'm gonna go like this all right dan says i did a good choice so if we don't like it we can blame dan of course i'm kidding of course i'm kidding all right get it in there get in there just like that okay so so far it's looking pretty good see as you can see i'm not really i'm making sure this stuff isn't pooling all over the place inside this model because sometimes it can and then it gets really bad so we'll get in the camera so it is you can't really it's got this camera isn't showing the pure brown of it maybe i gotta work on a different camera for that but that's okay this camera at least shows you a little bit of how brown this is there you go keep on going here grab some earth shade earth shade is a good choice as i said dan this dan has agreed is agreeing with me so they said dan will uh take the blame take the fall if this doesn't turn out good but i think it'll be just fine i'm gonna come down this arm i was really hoping to miss these circles but i got them in the circle so we're going to use a different i was hoping to use contrast on those but i think i'll just use a different paint on those so here we go keep on going in

23:44 here let's see how we do now i don't want to get it on the base because the base i am going to use null and oil all over over because i've done that with all the other bases i think it just works unless there's some feature on it i need to pull out like some of the features they have are grass on them and things like that so then i'd have to watch out for that oh oh i think we've screwed up but that's okay that's what that gray is for i'm going to get down here this pooling one thing not only will it pool it'll start dripping randomly as you start painting if you get too close to an edge it'll catch onto that edge and start just pooling into that edge which i think it's starting to do here okay so we got kind of lucky i didn't realize his hand was reaching out like that so much all right we're just gonna come down this and i'm not i think it'll be fine i did pull a little bit on this side over here but that's okay i can soak that up see once you kind of get a lot of the stuff off your brush you can go back with the brush with the less amount of wash and kind of touch where you think it's pooling and you just pull it right back onto your brush and move it to a new place like we're going to move it over there we're going to kind of get this stuff going all right there we go let's see if we've got any pooling anywhere also be careful not to touch it because it's going to be this is going to be the wettest one because whenever you're using washes it really might watch fighting the screen sorry it really makes it wet it's going to make it a really wet model and it takes a while for the stuff to dry so we might be coming back to this one near the very end here because i got a couple more i'm going to try to add some other stuff this is actually going to be pretty quick too i'm kind of moving down the technique of this is this i got lucky these two

25:14 actually have a technique where it's uh they've got a lot of they're all like one color i'm gonna actually take some of that off my brush i don't like that much on my brush because i've only got his leg left here we're gonna go around this thing i'm not glad we're going right over it we're going right over here we go keep on going here let's see i gotta just look real close see where that foot is because i don't want to get it on the base i'm sorry i'm not on camera right now all right so yeah the foot of it is right there and i've already gotten my managed to paint myself yet again there we go i'm getting right down inside these feet here best i can without hitting that other stone but like we said if we hit that stone it's not the end of the world because it's going to get null and oiled and that'll be fine to be a little brown around the null and oil area it's totally fine i think that leg looks pretty good except for right where that thing connects there we go boom all right not too bad we have a back leg now we got to work on that back leg not backlash back leg you know probably get a little backlash for how bad this model is but that's okay there you go like i said we're never going for golden like brush here we're going for tabletop on the table play the game that's the plan never want i'm never going for anything more than that okay so our back leg is right here so it actually is sticking it actually is pretty easy to get to which i'm pretty excited about again we're going to kind of go over it and as you can see i'm studying myself by putting my finger on my thumb that's

26:45 where i'm studying myself i always steady myself when i paint because of all the coffee i drink no i'm kidding it's because it's just because i like to make sure i have i've that's how i developed this a lot of people use those paint holders i just can't do that because i need to get my i want to be right down on this thing it's just how i learned and everybody learns a little bit differently and it works all right i think he's done with the egg rockstar shade i'm going to go back up on top here and just hit the very top because i was holding it up on the top here now if you wanted to you could go back with another set of the shade and it'll make it even darker of that shade if you want to but i'm not going to i think we're okay oh i see a little spot i missed right here i'm gonna go over that with a little bit there and let's see here i think we did okay i think we got almost everything let's take a quick look at it up close a little bit here overall sorry i'm not on camera i just gotta my old eyes here need to see what we're doing all right there i think that's pretty good we're good i think we're good are we good we're good there okay boom it's not going to show up too much in this camera i've noticed i don't really know why it doesn't like this color but it is null and oiled you can kind of tell the difference between the base of the monster and this guy i might need to get a little bit farther it's that back foot you can kind of see that it needs a little more let's see if we get a little more on that i'm going to actually take a lot of this off my paint brush because i just want to get in the way back there

28:18 oh hey it does have a feature that's pretty cool okay so the designers of this game have made my life a little bit harder because they have decided to put a tuff of grass you want to be able to see it right in between his legs seriously that's where you put the tip of grass you couldn't put it like closer to the edge well i guess there's one on the edge too right here my finger is but seriously right in the middle there that's that's amazing all right we'll see if we can get to that i'm sure we can i'm sure we can i don't think we have too much trouble getting to it i think we're gonna do that right now let's do that real quick right now before we move on we're gonna use let's use goblin green because goblin green is kind of fun goblin green is a contrast paint it's a bright green it's going to be a bright green color it's oh sorry orc flesh what i call it green well contrast gray i've got three different greens this one's the the brightest of the greens open that guy up we're just going to use our little detail brush on this one again if we go a little bit off the model on this i'm not too worried about it because it means it when i do the null and oil on it'd be kind of cool and i've actually done a few where i forgot to have this dry enough and i've gone over with melon oil and it's okay the green just kind of spread around a little bit so it's going to paint up that little green area here where this is there we go get it a little greeny right there i think that looks pretty good just get that guy okay on the back here some of the back at the back there you go okay i think we're good that looks good that's a green plant now

29:50 the one in the middle seriously all right let me hit that one in the middle if anybody else is painting right now i wonder what you're painting you have to tell me i mean did you hear what people are painting right now if they are but i don't know how it's like right inside here i have to kind of turn the model away from the camera i apologize because i can't see otherwise and sometimes i can navigate by feel but you know sometimes it takes a little bit let's see oh i can get from the back and i noticed they put another one back here too and that's fine that one's a little bit easier to get to oh wow there's actually more of these and the more i look at this model the more i'm finding them that's pretty awesome let's get some more green there's some more of this stuff all over the place it's pretty cool look i found one right here we're gonna get that one right back in here a little green on each one of these little petals here

35:20 burnsville my sister lives in burnsville for those of you that don't know i'm from minnesota and so is jason as you can tell of minnesota frost and finally the frost is gone the frost is gone uh we are finally warming up here in minnesota for those who don't know at night living in minnesota it's always cold like i'd say fifty percent of the year no if that's too much but it gets quite cold quite cold during the winter but awesome to have filaments out in here always good to see you jason thank you so much for joining oh let's see what are we oh yeah i was picking out a paint so i got barbarian flesh one of my favorite go-to fleshes that i have but i could also use the contrast which i have giliman flesh as well so these are my two options that i could use guillory flash of course will also be the wash as well but this is a brighter color than this one this one still even though it's their lightest color for flesh i've also noticed it's still a little dark for me i'm going to use this barbarian flesh on her because she her the skin tone itself is such a white color it's such a very bright peach so we're gonna do that we're gonna do that i'm gonna put this right on all paint station here i'm gonna turn a little bit put it right here there you go that's plenty the tendency to always squirt out too much more than i need i'm gonna use my smaller detail brush on this because i want to make sure because there's so many little details well that's not i'm not going to use that brush just do it on the ground there's so much detail on this thing that i don't want to accidentally hit some of it so we're going to go in now i could wet down my paints a lot of people

38:22 primer stuff here surface primer boom that's the deal i do have some grace here up over here somewhere in back here there's a lot of my paint paints and everything i even got some of this stuff this is stuff i used to use a long time ago back when i did warhammer i had these quick shades these were something else all you did is you took your mini and you painted what you wanted to and then you want to give it like an airgrass grass or shade you just went then you pulled it out and you shook it off and then boom you had it ready to go the interesting thing though is it's got a gloss to it so it made them kind of a gloss thing then you'd have to paint an anti-shine over the top of it or spray it with a matte clear enamel thing like i got here i think this is the other thing you could spray with this and then it would then it would become less glossy speaking of glossy that was i'm supposed i was going to tell you that and i got i got sidetracked i have this this is when i first bought my egg rex earth shade i accidentally bought egg rex or shade gloss which was which was a big mistake that was my fault on that it's right here this is so i started using it and i was like why are my minions turning all like shiny because what the gloss does it really brings out the shine that's the deal so it was it was just kind of funny i was like why is this and i look like oh i didn't even know there was a gloss and it's kind of cool they actually have this gloss but i didn't like it anyway so microcontrollers in stock and talks of them maybe getting it oh that'd be sweet that'd be sweet fantastic off a nicollet avenue okay i'm gonna have to go check it out jason i'm gonna have to see that and check it out next time i go

50:30 cool system with cube mechanics and you do have to play all four characters but they have like a sidekick program so you don't actually have to play the character but you get the ability to use some of their powers as you're playing the game so instead of having like you're saying a full character four full characters you have to play you only have your main characters you're playing if you're playing one or two players let's say and then the other ones are all sidekicks and yes you can play it fully solo and rolling solo i think actually has a great video out there right now i think i just noticed he did a playthrough of fire and light um showing off the game and mine's coming on tuesday so if you're interested in seeing that game that'd be that it's both pretty cool i'm pretty excited for this one it's a neat little adventure game um that takes place it's got some pretty cool mecha i like the the cube mechanics where you're placing cubes to decide what actions you're going to do and you're kind of moving around the world and you're in encountering different enemies and things where and then the battles are easy there's not like uh like dials and ships you got to fly out everywhere no you just you hit them you kill them or you don't kill them it's pretty cool um new ones were awesome played lockdown at local convention salt khan i was the lab rat i'd love to see the new action cards with the new characters they all feel so different that's a great idea that's what i should do i should play with the i think it's the pilot and the is it the like that the guy with the dog um the bounty hunter i think they have new cards for lockdown maybe that's what i should do i'll have to figure it out i'll figure out you gave me a good idea gave me a good idea i like it all right

1:06:51 that she has right here she's got a little armband so we're gonna paint that gold that'll be the plan let's see how it goes the white isn't white it's a pot scary white what's the difference this is made from fresh apothecaries uh howdy you generally how do you generally get started in painting i'm new to the hobby myself low on time though but envious of the skills and end product thank you very much for the yes um how did i get into painting i started painting when i painted warhammer i got into warhammer fantasy and i had to learn how to speed paint because you had to paint up a million and a half people in a short amount of time to get on the table so that's when i invented my slop and drop technique where i slop paint onto a miniature and i drop it onto the table i used to play orc goblin armies a lot uh so that was where i started to paint i learned a lot of things from the internet mainly uh like i said i've said that rob's tabletop world did a really good job he helped me learn some techniques the only techniques i honestly really use are the are basically straight up just paint wash potential dry brush i really rarely do highlights or anything like that and it gets on the table fast and it looks decent enough to enjoy the game that's the deal

1:08:22 that's um i don't know if it helps too much but i think having a good brush is also another thing that helps i've been using the series 7 sable brush since the dawn of time i used to buy like brushes by the boat loads from like local hobby store i have called michael's or joanne fabrics here in minnesota and i'd go back and look for one that i think would be pretty good and i'd use it for a while and then it would just slowly just deteriorate pretty quickly actually i didn't like how to how deteriorated so fast so i looked in the series seven and i happened to be listening to a podcast about warhammer painting um it was called oh my gosh what was it called i don't even remember anymore so long ago i feel so bad i don't think they're still doing it anymore i don't they still could be i could be totally wrong um they they were talking about what they used to paint one was talking about these series seven brushes and i was like oh i better get some of those so i looked it up and they're they're pretty they're for a paintbrush it's pretty pricey it's pretty pricey for a paintbrush but i'm also thinking about the fact that i've had this brush for ever so i haven't had to go back and buy any like you have a whole like if you look up here now let's see if i can see them um this whole thing is all old like there's an old paintbrush i bought this one lauren comfort spotter brush supposed to be spotter brush i used it i don't know how long i used it for but i i don't anymore it if you can see the bristles have kind of become all yeah and all that not good i mean once

1:15:58 honestly if you look at the intruders they do a sun drop on the sun drop pledges they look really much like you're using a what do you call it uh contrast meat of some kind because really what we're doing here with this guy is i did two washes that is it that is all i've done on this guy i've done a brown wash on him and i did a black wash on him that is it and this is what we get so we already have him looking pretty cool just with those two washes there's nothing else even done to this guy i primed him put two washes on aggregate shade and null and oil on the base that's it it's all i've done and it looks pretty good i'm pretty excited about it so when it comes to base colors i've got a whole set of army painters that i use um and you can like the gold i put a base component on um the the flesh i've done the base coat on on her let's i'm gonna grab the egg rexer shades or the gun what do you call it i've got it here well here it is reiklen's flesh this is the earth shade would be what i'm going to use on the skin when i get to it but i'm not going to do it yet i want to get the purple on i've got a lot of the other stuff here violet burp volipus pink nope that's not purple we don't want pink we want purple royal purple here you go i got magus purple now this is a lighter purple i do have a darker purple uh where is that one it's here somewhere let's try to find it it's up in here

1:43:22 i guess you could say i like that bass right isn't that a song to you have you ever put contrast over silver bass it looks neat huh i will have to try that it gives color a metallic look i will have to give that maybe i should oh maybe i should have the cup i could make like a metallic green i don't know if that'd look good but that'd be really cool i'll have to do that neat need to complete the painting of this game only painted four heroes and a couple of the monsters yes that's kind of what i'm doing i've i've been doing a playthrough of this and as i'm playing it i'm actually painting up the models as we go so that's why it's been a sporadic playthrough i i wanted to really get to that game and then i realized i could do this cool campaign because they have a campaign the prologue campaign but the problem was i had i don't like to put things out that aren't painted but sometimes it has to happen i've talked about this before i don't know if i've talked about it here there are games that i consider paintable games and paint games that are unpaintable they're unpaintable games out there uh what do i mean by this i mean that for example madara is a very paintable game because you can kind of get a sense for what's coming and you can paint them as you go instead of having to paint every miniature really to make it look good before you play it you know what i mean um now on the flip side i've got a few games back here that i haven't had a chance like for example uh um was assassin's creed

1:44:53 assassin's creed is a very hard game to paint because in order you never know what monsters are coming very similar to uh uh any other games basically any game that you never know really what could come like there's a deck of cards that could be your monsters you have to put them all together those are so hard to paint because you never know what's going to be coming out and so in order for it to look cool on the table you're like oh these guys are awesome when i have all this come on oh wait now i've got to deal with i have this random monster i didn't expect to pop out well i don't have him painted so he's going to look great on the table and i know normally it's just fine but you know me i need to make sure it's kind of painted so there's it's it's hard and in those type of games i know i should just paint the heroes uh but i i just don't it's just so hard for me like i've got um what's the other game back here deep madness that's another one that's super hard you can kind of pick out what monsters are going to fight but still there's a lot of different monsters you got to put in that deck so that's that's the deal i thought i thought it was sporadic because you weren't doing it frequently that was a good one uh it's like progressive painting very yeah very very similar progressive painting it keeps me going and actually this one thing i'm really excited about doing these live things too is it really gets me to make sure i get painting at least once a week without any problems here so we've got her we're working on her still we've got my whip whip's done we're going to move into her boots her boots have this really cool thing but i don't know i think i might just

2:04:54 there we go that's a great question t clark you caught that okay so didn't you put the blood on the butcher on kdm i did not it looks like it i used a trick for that um because i really want that butcher to look like he was like he had and if you look at my butcher miniature it actually looks like blood is dripping off of his two hatchets just because it fit his character so well like i said i normally don't put a bunch of gore on my things but this was actually i painted it before they put out that paint so what i did is i did some research online aka youtube videos uh looking for a way to make it look like you had dripping blood coming off of something and i found a video that taught me how to do it the way i did it is i took hair strands i think i took a piece of my wife's hair i glued that to the like little tips of it to the um to the butcher's cleaver in different places i wanted to drip down after i did that i took super glue and i dipped the whole thing in super glue so it looked like the super glue would then pool at the bottom of the where the hair is and so then after that i painted that with just red so that blood dripping off of there is actually my wife's hair with a lot of

2:06:24 super glue on it and then painted red that's how i did it i thought it was a super cool technique and i had to try it it actually worked out super good now of course they have this blood for the blood god so you don't really need to do that anymore that's how i did that particular model i used strain of hair super glue and then i want to say that was still back before i had that i might not even have these paints yet and if i did i think i would have used something like chaotic red that i just threw on the floor yeah that's the deal chaotic red um so that there you go that's how i did that one that's that of course i will never take credit for anything that i do with my miniatures everything i ever find to do on a miniatures or paint on the miniature or do anything about a miniature is all something i found from somewhere else i'm never really that clever to figure out myself as you think i'm kind of clever you inspired me to sit at my painting station working on kingsman facing him in two more lantern years that's awesome kaseman was one of my favorite ones to paint he had such an interesting like face thing going on that was a really fun one to paint i liked it i'm glad i'm in getting people to paint that's what this is all about this is one of the things i'm doing this channel that they're one of the things i'm doing this the live painting stuff for i like to hear how people are painting because if you can paint you can get these things on the table it looks super cool i'm going to redo her hair really quick just like this i don't think i even need it on there

2:18:50 here almost done with this guy there we go it didn't go far never got out of beta testing oh that's too bad betamax was sony's format and vhs dominated it for various reasons but the betamax format died yeah it did that's too bad beta died out i actually had two beta vcrs i had a beta video camera that looked like something out of like it was like those like channel five news cameras from back then it was pretty awesome you'd stick the whole cassette into this thing and you carried around and it looked like you were like had this channel five news camera wherever you're going that was like the beta camera i had oh my gosh she was out of control i used to make stupid movies with that when i was young it was pretty awesome it's it basically the same as the 80s version quick simple and fun okay good so they didn't really change they didn't want to they didn't try to revolutionize the wheel that's good to hear um good to hear i think that might be all these you always got one more real one right here one little one right

2:27:21 i'm gonna put that on top of it and then it's lit for that to dry a little bit then i can put my snakebite leather over the top of that again and somehow i managed to get the whip up here with my silver i don't know how i managed that one but we'll put a little gray on that too then we'll come back over the top of that i need to hit this i hit this again with i hit that with the white i'm going to hit that with black

2:27:47 maybe that was probably on my thumb there you go that's done okay good see a lot of it is when you're painting a lot of is getting stuff on there and then getting stuff where you don't want it and then having to touch it up my some of the problem might be the fact that some of this wet paint is on my hands that's probably some of the problem there who knows but now i gotta wait for that to dry before i can do anything cause we're gonna hit all this with null and oil i think then we're going to call it a day on that oh see someone i managed to hit this silver how do i hit that silver it must be on my hand i need to gray again

2:28:33 and if you i don't you probably can't notice this but the gray that comes out of gracier is a little bit lighter of a gray color than the actual color of the gray of the gray i use as primer when somebody's asked me about the primary use it's super close in color but not exactly here's the deal but it's close enough that if i have to paint over stuff like i'm doing it's it is you won't even notice is the deal i'm going to grab some of my snake bite leather it's still in the thing not that wild wood snake bite leather right here that's the deal all right so i'm learning a little bit as we go here i need to i want to get a better camera here i'm not a big fan of this camera let's work on that and as always i have a plan

2:29:27 there you go that was the mordor production of south park that's pretty good oh my gosh that's awesome now i wonder if this is dry enough it's part of the problem because i'm running up because i got these miniatures done and i could start another one and wait for this part to dry but i don't have anything else to paint right now i do have these when you face her she fights with these weird things let's do interior if she fights like with these things are out on the battlefield and i'm not exactly sure they haven't really gone into the fight yet even i just know that these are part of it because i looked at the character um list of what you're fighting or what is out on the board i should say so this is one of the characters that's out there plus i still have another like main character i have to paint for the game because there's four we've only seen three in the play through so far and our next battle doesn't involve the fourth one yet so that's why i've been painted so in one of the next painting tutorials i'll probably paint that one up because i have that one and then like i said her we're almost done with which is good then i have i should do these these are part of the colosseum that we've been fighting and i have to paint these up and paint though i haven't primed them yet though and she also has these that i think come out as well that i've got that i've already painted up i painted before we decided to do this thing so i've already got these painted up these are other things that she has that come out

2:31:25 i really appreciate everybody hanging out this has been an absolute blast thank you all for coming this is super good i love doing these i'm glad you guys are having a good time i hope you are um it's really fun i'm hoping people are getting some of their hobby done while they're listening to me ramble on um it's really great to meet all of you as we play do our painting here so again we're just going to come in with our null and oil and come all around this thing hopefully yep i think we're okay it looks like it's not moving silver anywhere so yes we are good i can paint this up with my nylon oil and not worry about silver going everywhere in silver sometimes can be a little tricky especially it's not dry then you start spreading silver all over your miniature it looks terrible now this nolan oil on a pool actually don't mind it pooling in the eyes i think it'll be kind of cool to have that dark black in the eyes like that um as i take it off of there i'm going to come in here and get this i don't want to hit the whip because i already got the whip done the whip is done what we're really doing is just the base on the outside here and we're going to get inside here where the whip is and i think that's it i think we'll be done make sure i got everything here

2:33:02 i did notice one thing i missed here and that was the fact that i did hit sorry i'm not on camera right now just making sure i get everything okay we got her all right she's done um from what i can gather here this is this is going to be the final product there's one little thing i hit and that's that whip again i hit it with some silver i can deal with that later but here we go she's done i like the purple i like how that purple turned out oh i don't like her face we got to fix her face i don't like her face i mean rakelyn or shade here that's the deal i'm going to get that on her face again because i oh man this is so bad another thing i don't do that some people do there's no reason you can't i don't paint eyes on people i let my rakelanders shade just kind of go right inside the crevice of the eyes and call today because honestly i would just screw that up every time i used to try to paint the eyes oh my gosh they're terrible it never worked right there's like multiple like if you really want to know to paint eyes there are like hundreds of almost i shouldn't say hundreds but there are a lot of videos on youtube on just how to paint eyes and how to do it right it's just out of control and like most of them were like so delicate of painting i was just like not gonna happen nobody's gonna see that one's on the table so i never paint eyes i gave up on eyes so there we go now we're done i think i think i like your face a little bit more with that rakeland earth shade in there there you go let's see how it looks okay here we go spinner a little bit i do like the purple i think the purple
