Hello everybody and welcome back to What's Happening. My name is Z Garcia. Today we're going to be bamping. We're going to be snicking and certainly a little flip flipping because we're jumping back into Marvel Snap, everybody. After having been away for I don't know when was the last time I played this live. Two years ago. At least a year ago. At least a year ago. I fired it up about 30 minutes ago uh and cleared about, you know, a dozen notifications. It did an update this and that. So, I've got it kind of sort of back to playable, though. I haven't I haven't played at all yet. It's been ages since I've played. If you do not know what Marvel Snap is, it's a card game you play with folks online. It's very quick and snappy. Hh. Get it? Um, with a few little cards, you know, it's a very small, it's like a sort of like a a micro game in a way.
All right, you can see me, you can hear me. We are good. I hope you're all having a fantastic Tuesday, folks. I hope you're having a fantastic day. Let me know in the comments, by the way. All right, let's see. What do we got? X4N says, "Oh, no. Good luck, Z." I think that means good luck. Imagine this would be rough to come back to. Never has been F2P friendly. I don't know what that means. I'm old. Talk to me like I'm old. What device, iPad, PC, other are you using to play? I am playing on an iPad.
X4N says, "I quit Snap over a year ago. Played for two straight years." Mike Heler says, "Pled Snap back in the beginning. I fell off after the first season or two." Oh, you you barely scratched the surface, baby. Can I say yes, snap, but not as much. Playing Magic the Gathering. Free to play is what that means. Okay, got it.
Okie dos. Let's do it. Um, all right. First of all, I saw that there's there was this thing called a thing called Team Clash. I don't know anything about it. Um, I'll figure it out. Before we do any of that nonsense, I'm going to jump into the main way to play. I'm going to see about any of my old decks, what they look like. I've recently returned to Snap. The login bonuses have been good and it's a lot friendlier, I'm guessing, than it used to be. Evan says, "Started since day one, but quit one year ago. Came back recently. Draft mode is awesome. Draft mode coming back again next year. Draft mode. I don't think I ever played draft mode."
All right, let's check out my deck of cards here. what I've got. Uh I know one I used to love playing was Patriot. Is Patriot the guy who Yeah, your cards with no abilities have plus two power. So, I used to like this deck right here. I'm probably going to jump into it with this deck right here, but I need to remind myself what all these cards do. I just do. So, a whole deck of cards in this game, if you don't know it, is only 12 cards. and you'll see what a game looks like quickly enough. It'll take less time for me to just show you than to explain, but I do want to go through these cards. So, basically at the very bottom here for free, I've got Wasp with no abilities at all. I've got squirrel girl. When she reveals, she adds a squirrel with a one power to each other location. There's three locations. Misty Knight has no abilities.
Uh Mr. Sinister here adds a Sinister clone with the same ability to the same location. So, the clone won't have any abilities. Shocker has no abilities. Mystique, if it's the last card you play, I'm sorry, if the last card you played has an ongoing ability, she copies it. Uh, add broodlings. They have no abilities. And then this guy's ongoing. Here's what I'm hoping to copy. No abilities on him. No abilities on the thing. No abilities on Abomination. And Dr. Doom adds Doombots to each other location and they have no abilities. So, as you can tell, there's a very simple game plan here. Let's try it.
All right. So, this ability says, "End of turn, add a three power rock to hand if you have none there." Fine. I'm going to play a squirrel girl, and I'm going to play her right here.
West View turns into a location, a new location on turn four. Okay, so now I have two energy and uh I'm so Wait a second. Oh man, my screen froze. Huh? All right, hold on, guys. I got you. Unplug this and plug it back in. Yeah, sorry. I see that that I'm frozen. Um, give me one second.
I'm in the middle of a fight, unfortunately. And they are timed. buddy. Oh no,

Okay, apparently, for some reason, it's not happy that I have an iPad and a camera plugged in. So, I'm having to use the builtin and but the camera is working because you're getting audio from that camera. But you're seeing me from right here, my built-in
Let's do it. Uh crap. I have nothing. After you play a card here, swap it with a card in your deck. That's fantastic. I will do that 1,000%. The only one I don't want is uh Mystique.

All right, I am going to play Cyclops here and hope I get a better card than that. I don't know if there is a better card to be fair. No, let's do this instead.

I agree with you, uh, Green Laser, that Squirrel Girl is, uh, not a character that I have ever been able to take very seriously myself. I do think she fits this deck fairly well. So, that there's that. I'm thinking this guy's trying to get me to have a large hand of cards. Is that the deal? Sunspot. I like Sunspot. I know what it does. Yeah. Um, okay.
Maybe not. Um, what do I want? I guess Dr. Doom gets me a Doombot in both of these.
Or I could play the thing. That's four. Yeah, I could just do that, I guess.

There's a lot going on. But I won barely. No, not barely. I won those both of those handily. But that was probably a probably a pot I just played against to be fair. Here we go. We did that. Now we do this. We upgrade the thing. Uh, I forgot how this works. This used to be a lot simpler.

You got a thing that they'll that's that's what it's about. No, I know it's nothing for gameplay, but I still level up the get the little thingies, right? What's this?

I Yeah, I'm probably playing bots. I know. Especially when you come back to it, you know, after being away for a while, they're going to hit you with the bots. Make sure you're winning a few, all of that stuff.
Doom rules. Well, Doom's about to kick my butt.
They did a draft mode a few weeks ago. That was a lot of fun. Yeah, I I saw that in the chat here. I guess I missed it. Um, but somebody said that they were bringing that back next year. Maybe I'll have to check that out. Hopefully, I won't miss it again. Plus, if it's really popular, they might just keep it around, right? Union to me.

There we go. Okay. Okay. Okay. All right. So, let's see what the deal is. If I go over here to game modes and I go into whatever Team Clash is, I go into the shop.
Earn emblems by winning games. Um, I have no deck of cards. Do I need a deck? I guess I have to pick a a deck of cards here. Who do I want?
Okay. H I will try an Avengers deck and I will try just a pre-built deck. Let's try it. See what happens.
That is definitely a bot name. First to fill this gets a copy of their opening hand. Why is this card specifically a team clash Hawkeye? Is it just the way it looks?

I am Iron Man. So, I guess I just wanted a way to have different abilities to shake it up and just give you new abilities. And the teams, I guess they're based on the same characters, but they have little addendums to the rules. Like Iron Man has always done that, double the team, like double the ability when he arrives. Um, oh, and Hawkeye, same thing, but I guess Team Clash Hawkeye does something slightly different.

All right, let's see. Vision movable while you have another Avenger here. Well, buddy, I don't move one of your Avengers with unreveal to this location and repeat its ability. I like that. So, I'm going to do this here.
And then I'm going to do this here. And then I'm going to be able to move Iron Man over there, I think.

so many things. All right, that's interesting. But I don't know if I love it. It's fine. I would I could see myself doing Team Clash as a lark, like because it's the mode I guess they're featuring right now. I know back when I was uh last time I played, they already had Conquest. That was like a permanent staple was Conquest. Um, but and friendly battle was already around too. But I guess the team clash thing is a limited engagement deal. I guess it goes away in one day it looks like. And then do they always bring a new thing out? Is that how that works? Is that how you guys had the drafting thing?
Yeah, it's fine. Um, I'll try it again. I I'll stick with the Avengers just in case. I do wonder if I can modify this a little bit though.
How do I Do I not have any of these? Do I have to have the spec I have to specifically own the team clash version of these things? That's crazy. I guess they are their own cards.
All right. So, Avengers. Uh, who are they counting as an Avenger here? Bucky Barnes. Is that an Avenger? I'm guessing not. I'm guessing it has to have the Avenger symbol.
After you play an Avenger, give one of your Avengers there plus one power. That's the ability, right? They only last a week or so. The special things, that's that's very short.
Yeah, these people are all Avengers. Okay. Or I can customize it with their six and I guess my own six. But they won't be Avengers.
I assume it won't be Avengers. Um, let me see. That one says Avengers right there. Okay. Oh, it is showing me on here now where it says them. Okay, cool. Makes sense. Uh, Daredevil's cool. I like her a lot. All right. Well, maybe this will be a little more interesting if I get to modify my my stuff a little bit. Patriot is no good in a deck like this because everything's going to have abilities. Agent Coulson, he's cool.
Uh, I need some. Let's see. Wong is pretty sweet.
Sure. Let's rock and roll with that. Confirm that. Let's go. Yeah. So, they have six preset that they give me and then I get to pick my own six. That's That's not bad. That's a good way card to reveal here with plus two power. Sounds good.
No cards revealed this turn. Add this card's power to your back row cards. That's a thing.
That's okay. I've never seen that before. So, I think if I put him here, it'll actually be revealed at the precinium because I got because I think that'll happen first.
Good. That's what I meant.

Okie dokie. I'm going to move the shield because I want to make a space over here. So, I'm moving the shield back over here. And I'm going to play big man right here. There we go. Let's do that. I got a super chat. I feel bad for you playing this given what I hear. Like that it's tough. I don't understand what that means.

I do win that barely. We tie it in one and then I win the tiebreaker in the other one cuz I have a bigger disparity in scores. Okay, cool.
A win is a win. I guess there is that. And the game does an amazing job of keeping you hooked. You know what I mean? I mean, they've they've they've finessed this game and sort of figured out the the rough edges as far as keeping people playing, as far as keeping you engaged. They've done that to perfection. Though, I will say, last time I played a long time ago now, there was certainly a lot of monetization in this, but now, my goodness, it's everywhere. There's so much more of it now than the last time I played. Wow.
All right, I'm going to play a normal game. I am going to change out my deck and try one of my other previous decks from before. Let me see what I had. My Patriot deck. I like that quite a bit. Um, my Mr. Negative deck. had you basically swapping this was the lynch pin here. Swap the power and the cost of all the cards in your deck. And they were all all my cards then have the inverse of that. I'll try it. I don't remember how well it works, but guess who's back is a very fitting uh name actually.

Let's see what she's got. If your opponent played any cards here this turn, copy one of them into your hand. Okay. And then Jubilee. Add the top card of your deck to this location. Okay. Morph. Become a copy of a card in your opponent's hand.

The game's going okay. The game is going okay. It's been a long time. I've been out of it for a long time. Between the sort of wild amounts of flashing things on the screen, it's it's just it's going to take some getting used to again, right? But I remember why I enjoyed it so so much. It is really a neat game. It's a fun game. I do feel a little bit on the outside. I feel like a lot of the changes I might actually need to read up on to understand why is the leveling up of cards look different? Why do these, you know, all the different economies, all the different things? It's been a little bit, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit.
The team clash, on the other hand, I thought it was just okay. I don't know if I would say I would do that a whole lot, but from what I understand, it's going to go away very quickly here anyway in about a in about a day, right? Um, and then I'm curious to see what the next thing is. I'm kind of sad that I missed the drafting thing you guys are all talking about. Um, definitely looking forward to trying it when it comes back around, but I'm curious to see what they're cycling through these days, what they do. You know, it's neat. It's fun. All right, folks. That's going to do it for us for today. I played a few games. I enjoyed my time. Of course, when you come back to this game, two things happen. They give you a bunch of things for having been away. They're like, "Oh my god, welcome back. We got him again."
And then they throw you into a lot of bot fights that they pretend are not bots. They make it seem like you're playing against real people and they let you win pretty handily. And I am okay with both of those things very much. Oh, no problem there. But for now, I'm going to go ahead and get out of here. Sorry about all the technical difficulties, folks, but we got there.
