Description

Think there ain't much on these here plains that you haven't seen, heard, or shot at? Put your skills to the test in the solo version of Circle The Wagons.

Contains:

6 scenario cards.

Put your skills to the test against a wily opponent in the solo expansion for Circle the Wagons.

Lone Cowboy is a series of solo expansions for Circle the Wagons and Second Shot. Each set introduces new scenario cards. These tell the player which scoring conditions to use in the game as well as adding specific rules to determine the behavior of the non-human opponent. The solo game is played over two rounds but otherwise follows standard gameplay.

To setup a game using any of the Lone Cowboy sets, choose 1 scenario card and place it in the center. Find the two scoring conditions listed on the scenario and add them to the center.

Deal out 8 cards in a circle. The player drafts and places cards on their turn as normal, with any skipped cards going to the opponent’s pile. The opponent follows specific drafting criteria to determine which card they take. Skipped cards go to the player as normal.

Once all 8 cards have been taken, deal the remaining 8 cards in a circle and repeat the process. After all 16 cards are gone, the opponent scores based on the scenario card as well as for the three most common territories in their pile. The player scores their town as normal. If the player’s score is higher, they win!

Quotes (from this video)
  • I think that the new scoring objectives in second shots really work well on their own and in combination with some of the earlier versions.
  • I love that you have unique scoring each game too, so hearing that there was more of it that is combinable was just a really exciting time for me.
  • Hearing that there was more Circle the Wagons goodness I really love the Lone Cowboy scenarios as well for this second set and the updates to scoring in the original Circle the Wagons for the solo mode.
  • The titling and drafting just works really well and the scoring is very succinct.
  • Prior to that I was a little turned off by calculating out all the math and counting all the territories for the opponent but doing it this way where each card is just worth one, two, or three points on standard mode or you can increase or lower the difficulty of course...

Quotes (from this video)
  • It's going to be from my least favorite to my most favorite.
  • I hated so much. It filled me with so much raw anger that I rant about it in the gen jog, but I'm not going to talk about it in public cuz I like my channel to largely be a positive, uplifting source of board game news.
  • Circle the Wagons, Lone Cowboy. Circle of Wagons um is already a game that was in my top 10 forever games.
  • It's a brilliant solo game and that's really no surprise.
  • It's the greatest co-op deck builder ever and I'm just continue to be amazed at how the designers keep coming up with new content.
  • Everything about it is awesome. Aon's End always continues to be awesome.
  • Earth is in my top 10 games of all time.
  • Earth is one of the best games of all time, and this just makes it even better without slowing the game down at all, which is uh sometime, you know, and that's one of Earth's great strengths.
  • my number one game of the month, the excellent Earth Animal Kingdom.
  • I don't have time to film all this stuff myself anymore, folks. There's too many other things going on like stuff that might be going on in this very space soon.
