Unique Themed Games

Hello. So, I love theme and board game. And obviously, we have a lot of themes that we see over and over. Superheroes, nature, zombies, dungeons, that kind of thing. There's plenty of things that are done over and over and are done well. And I love those games as well. But I love when you find something unique that is not your everyday theme and that maybe you learn something new from. So, first up, we have Gorinto. And this is a game where you are trying to use the five elements to build a traditional temple or statue, um, in Buddhism, I believe that it is. And so, in this game, you are using different plastic pieces to create the statues to get the harmonies to do what you need to. But I love that it is based on a very ancient concept that not a lot of us probably know a ton about and through a game, we can get to experience it. Next up, we have Genotype. And this is a game based on Mendelian genetics.

Many of you probably remember learning the Punnett square in middle school or high school. And this is a game based on that. You're doing a lot more. It's a lot heavier of a game than that. But you're using the basics of how peas can reproduce the traits that they can have. You're going to university. You're doing all of these things. But it's all based on different characteristics you can get when peas cross-pollinate. Then we have Bonsai. Which this is all about the art of bonsai, which I have always wanted to grow a real bonsai tree. I have a ton of houseplants. I haven't done bonsai. But in this game, you are getting to create a gorgeous bonsai. You want it to flower. You want it to produce leaves. You want it to have a lovely shape and do all of the things. So, this is a very cool game based on that theme. Then we have Diatoms, which could be one of the most unique themes ever. So, this is a game that is based on art that was made, I believe, in the 1800s based on things that were seen under a microscope in the way that this microscopic material, I think it was from pond water, would arrange itself. So, you are building out those similar shapes and trying to make this really gorgeous piece.

Um it plays solo as well, but again, what a unique theme. And then finally, we have the Fox Experiment, and this is based on an actual experiment that was done in the '60s in Russia when they were trying to domesticate foxes. So, in this game, you are breeding foxes that have different traits, trying to get the most desirable foxes. Spoiler alert, foxes have not become domesticated in the way that they hoped, but this is still based on a very cool experiment. So, those are five games that I think have a really unique theme. I would love to know what are some of the games out there that you think have some of the most unique seeming to it. Let me know, give me a like and a follow, and I'll keep bringing you more board game content. Thanks. Bye.
