So You've Been Cursed - Kickstarter Playthrough
Hi everyone, my name is Monique. And I'm Naveen from Before You Play. And today we're going to be playing through a game that is currently on Kickstarter called So You've Been Cursed. Yes, this game is designed by Scott Almes and published by Luddy Creations who are helping sponsor this playthrough.
And in this game one of us is going to be taking on the roles of a wizard who has been cursed and is trying to find the cure. And the other one is going to be taking on the role of a monster who is trying to become a legendary creature. Yes, this is an asymmetric game for zero to two players and it's actually a standalone follow-up to another game called So You've Been Eaten.
And so today as usual we are going to start with a quick teach of the game and then we'll go straight into our two-player playthrough. If you'd like to jump around we'll include timestamps in the description below. Now we do have to mention this is a prototype copy of the game so things are subject to change in the future.
If you are interested in the campaign there's a link in the description which you can check out at your leisure. And lastly if you like these kind of videos and you want to see more in the future please consider subscribing. And with that we are ready to begin. So if you please direct your attention to the center of the table we're all set up here for a two-player game of So You've Been Cursed.
Welcome to the village. And so like Naveen mentioned in this game one player plays as the wizard who has been cursed and is turning into a monster. And so over the course of the game their goal is to try to find a cure. On the other hand the other player plays as the monster who is basically trying to strengthen the curse and turn into the legendary monster.
And so each player has their own respective tracks. The wizard has the cure track while the monster has the curse track. And whoever gets to the top of their tracks first immediately wins the game. Now the village is divided into four different districts and they are separated by background color as well as these walls and bridges.
So we have this light green, this dark green band, this yellow section as well as this kind of red orange over here. That's right. And in each district there are several houses that contain villagers. There are actually 20 of them spread out across the board and each house is numbered. And this is important because over the course of the game the wizard will be purchasing ingredients from these villagers and the monster will be eating them.
So then the wizard player's always starts by adding one villager to the board. They will roll the 20-sided die and then draw a random villager from their bag and place it on that specific spot. But this step is skipped if all of the houses are already occupied such as in the first turn of the game. Then once that's done the wizard may take up to three actions on their turn.
And in this game both the wizard as well as the monster are represented by the same token. And so when it is the wizard's turn they'll be moving around using this token and as soon as their turn ends the monster's turn will pick up from the location where the wizard left off because we are essentially the same person battling the curse after all.
Now there are four different types of actions that the wizard can take and on their turn they may only choose three of them but they can take the same action multiple times. Now the first type of action is buying ingredients and in order to do this the wizard must be at a house that contains a villager because these villagers correspond to the different types of ingredients in the game that the wizard will need to turn in in order to find a cure.
And so the cost of the ingredients depend on the house that the wizard is located at. And this will range anywhere from one to four coins. There are these small coin symbols at the different locations. And when buying the wizard may purchase several of that type of ingredient for one action. And so in this example had the wizard been here they could buy the green ingredients for one coin each.
But the wizard may only hold up to three ingredients in their their satchel. And there is an uneven number of villagers. As an example there are fewer nobles which are purple as well as merchants which are yellow. So sometimes it might be difficult for the wizard to purchase a specific type of ingredient and if so they can always travel to the market which is located here in the center of the board where they can purchase any one ingredient for five coins.
Now as you'll notice sometimes the wizard will need to travel around the board. And so if ever the wizard needs to go to a different location that's within the same district the wizard can freely move around those spaces. So this does not cost you one of your three actions. However, if at any point the wizard needs to move to a different district by crossing the walls or any of the bridges then they'll need to hire a carriage and pay one coin basically for each crossing.
Alternatively if the wizard player does not want to spend any coins or if they don't have any money then they can instead spend one action to cover the total coin cost of moving. But that is essentially how buying ingredients works. Now the next type of action is probably the most important one and this is mixing a cure.
This is how you actually progress up your cure track. This action can only be taken at one location and that is the wizard's laboratory which is actually the starting space for the game as well. When taking this action the wizard player can spend any number of ingredients in their satchel to progress up this track always spending the next ingredient on the track.
So in this case I would have the green ingredient as well as the brown. So if I was to take this action I could spend both of these to go one, two just like that getting rid of these ingredients and then my next one would have to be a black ingredient in order to progress in the future. And again that is all for just one action.
And of course as soon as the marker gets all the way to the top then the wizard player wins immediately. And those are the two main things that the wizard is going to try to accomplish. Gaining ingredients and spending them for the cure. In addition the wizard also has two other types of actions. If ever they are in need of money they can attempt to steal from villagers' houses and this can be done if the house is empty.
And so as an example if the wizard were there they could attempt to steal from this house and it would always be successful but they would only gain one coin. Alternatively if you'd like to try to steal more money then the wizard can go to an occupied house and attempt to steal as many coins as is showing on the actual space.
So in this example if the wizard were stealing from location number seven they can try to steal up to three coins. But you would first have to declare how many coins you're attempting to steal and then they would roll the six-sided die and if the value is greater than the number that they're attempting to steal then it is successful and you gain that many from the supply.
Which by the way is limited to 25 total coins. Yes and we haven't mentioned this yet but we are playing with deluxe upgraded components. The retail edition of this will come with cardboard chits. But if they rolled equal to or less than the value then it is not successful. But it's not the end because they can choose to spend one whole action in order to make it successful essentially.
Sure. And if they choose not to then there is no consequence. You just don't gain the money. And the last type of action that the wizard player can take is casting a spell. Now the wizard has access to this spell deck but can only hold four cards at any given time. And spell cards look like this. They typically have requirements on the left-hand side of the card that will typically require the wizard player to be either at a specific location or to spend specific ingredients.
Any spells that have the lightning bolt symbol are immediate effects and some spells will provide the wizard player with ongoing effects but all spells will always provide a certain amount of coins. So if the wizard player really needs some money then this is a good a really good way to gain some coins.
And we'll discuss what the spells do as we play the game. But that's essentially it. As soon as the wizard player has taken three actions then they end their turn by drawing back up to a hand of four spell cards. Then play proceeds to the monster player. And again the monster will always pick up from where the wizard player left off.
We'll just be flipping over the token. We are the same in the end. We are the same entity. Now again the monster's goal is to progress all the way up the curse track and they'll be doing this by moving around the village and eating villagers. And so on their turn they can either choose to take a feeding action that'll allow them to do that or a quiet night turn.
When the monster feeds they can take up to three actions and unlike the wizard their actions are virtually the same. They will move up to two spaces and then optionally feed. Now in moving the monster player is required to move along the pathways. And so adjacent spaces are considered one movement. And unlike the wizard player when moving across walls and bridges they do not have to pay any money because I'll actually not have any access to money but they do have to flip over these guard tokens.
And on the other side of these guard tokens will be an immediate effect that will either require them to discard a certain amount of energy which is the monster's currency, decrease movement, or increase the panic level. Or a couple of them have no effect. Then as soon as the monster ends its movement if the location that it's at contains a villager they may optionally eat the villager.
And just as a note you are not required to move so if you start your turn with a villager in its space then you can just choose to eat them. And when moving you must stop at a location if it does contain a villager. And so eating villagers gains the monster energy and the amount of energy depends on the type of villager.
Farmers and hunters as well as sheep will gain the monster player one energy. Woodcutters and butchers gain two energy and merchants and nobles gain three. And that also represents the rarity of the villagers in the bag. And each time they are eaten they will go into the leftmost space of the monster's stomach.
And this is important because similar to the wizard the monster also has a deck of cards but these are called power cards. And their requirements include uh spending a certain amount of energy in order to put them into play as well as having a certain type of villager in their stomach when playing them.
And before or after feeding the monster can play any number of these from their hand. In addition once the monster's turn ends we're going to look at the types of villagers that the monster has eaten. And they want to eat multiple villagers of the same type. And so if all three of these were the exact same type of villager, then at the end of their turn, they would increase the curse track by two as well as the panic track.
And depending on the threshold that the marker is in, the wizard player will start to have benefits because it represents the panic that is ensuing amongst the village. Mhm. Once the marker is in the yellow zone here, then each ingredient costs one fewer coin. As soon as it gets to the orange zone, then no villagers are added at the start of the uh wizard player's turn.
And if at any point the marker is in the red zone, then the wizard now gains one additional action on their turn. So a fourth action. Yes, and all of these effects are cumulative. So it would be all three of these if this gets to the red zone, which is very bad. And so as you can see, in order for the monster to progress their curse track, they will also be raising panic.
And so over the course of the game, there will be a few opportunities to decrease the track by playing power cards, but also the monster can spend energy in order to put these three enhancements into play when taking their action. And these can be done at any time as many times as the monster would like on their turn.
They can spend two energy in order to move an additional movement when moving, and again they can do this several times in order to move further and further away. They can spend four energy in order to discard an ongoing spell that's either in front of the monster or in front of the wizard. And they can spend six energy to decrease the panic track by one.
But the monster can only hold a maximum of nine energy markers. So it's not going to be a an overabundance of these. But that is the general idea of the monster's turn. If there are ever two of the same type of villagers, then you would increase the track by one only. And if you don't have any matching villager types, then you don't increase the curse track at all and you actually decrease the panic track by one.
And sheep by the way can only be eaten if the monster is at an adjacent location. And they typically don't refill. Sheep cannot be used to increase the curse track. They're typically used for energy and some power cards will require you to eat sheep. And once the monster's turn ends, sheep go out of the game, but villagers are placed back into the villager bag.
Alternatively, instead of taking a feeding turn, the monster player can take a quiet night turn, which essentially decreases the panic track by two, but also decreases the curse track by one. Mhm. So it is helping you manage the panic track, but you're also sort of going back backtracking on your goals.
But when doing so, you can also play a power card, one power card from your hand for free ignoring any of the requirements on the card. And you would end that turn by drawing two new villagers. So there are ways to place more villagers on the board when it is the monster's turn. And that's essentially it.
All spells as well as power cards we'll discuss as we play the game. But again, as soon as either player has reached the top of their tracks, then they win immediately. But that's essentially it. So I think we are ready to begin. Are you ready, wizard? I am. All right. Got my four cards. I also have my four power cards.
And so today I'm going to be playing as the wizard, I am playing as the monster. And like we are mentioning, the wizard always goes first. So please, whenever you're ready. So it is my very first turn and in this particular instance, we do not have to add a villager because all of the 20 locations are filled.
So I have three actions. The very first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to go ahead and freely move within this particular zone. Uh-huh. I'm going to move over to the greenhouse over here. Okay. The and I'm going to purchase some ingredients from them. I'm going to buy two green from them. Okay. So purchasing each one is going to cost one cuz that is the amount of gold that is depicted below.
Mhm. And so I'm going to spend one, two of my coins. Off they go. All right. One. Oh, that's not the right one. One, two. Nice. Because again, you can purchase as many items as you can hold, I guess. But only of the type of the villager that's there. Right. And so green villagers are farmers and we have all of the the villagers standing up for our gameplay.
So that was action one. Action two, we're going to now go ahead and move on over and visit this house, house number eight, where our hunter resides, one of our few hunters. The cost here is two. Now the problem with that is I don't have two coins. I only have one coin. So am going to attempt to steal from the hunter and use their own money against them.
Okay. So this is going to be my second action. I am going to declare two coins. Okay. So that's the maximum you can de It's the max I can declare. Cuz that's what's showing on the location. So essentially I need to roll a three or higher. Yes. Okay. So let's go ahead and bring in a die tray, a dice tray.
And I need to roll a three or higher. Let's go four. Four. All right. So I'm going to gain two coins. Congrats. action two. You've robbed from a villager. I have robbed, but honestly, I'm just going to give it back to them. I'm going to purchase one black ingredient from them. Okay. And so it's going to be two coins cuz that's what's depicted below.
And I'm going to get this one here. Okay, what is it? It's like a like a claw. Okay. Nice. So there we go. So now I have I'm fully loaded here. That was all three actions. So one was here, stealing two, and then purchasing that stolen with the stolen money. For three. Okay. So that's it for me. I didn't play any cards, so I don't have to draw anything up.
Now it's going to go to the monster. All right, it is time for the monster. So I'm going to flip over the token and I am going to begin my turn where the wizard left off. And you know, the monster is ravenous, so we're going to try to eat as many times as possible. Now again, on my turn I can take a quiet night turn or a feeding turn and I'm going to take a feeding turn.
I can move up to two spaces, but considering the fact that there is a villager in my space, I'm just going to feed at that location for my first action. Okay. This villager is a hunter and hunters gain me one energy when I eat them. So now I have three energy. Now the name of the game for me is eating villagers of the same type.
So for my second action, I'm going to move to location seven and eat another hunter Okay. gaining me another energy. So it's not a lot of energy, but it'll help me increase my curse track. And then if I'd like to eat a third, I need to move over here. So that does require me to cross the wall. Are you going to do it?
So yes, I am. I'm going to go ahead and cross over and because I crossed the guard, and the guards look like this by the way, we have to flip this over and resolve its effect. Oh, okay. Oh, nice. We have to increase the panic track. So getting that party started early. So there that is and this goes out of the game.
So from now on, each time I go to cross that same spot, I I no longer have to flip over any guards. And now that I'm there, I'm going to of course eat this hunter. Ah. They're hunting. They're hunting. Trying to hunt me, so I was defending myself. So that's one energy. And before I end my turn, I'm going to play a power card.
So this is otherworldly howl. Okay. And it does require me to have a hunter in my belly, which I have three. Mhm. But it also requires me to spend two energy. So I'm going to go ahead and spend these two. And this is basically a one-time benefit that I can resolve, but I can decide when to do so. Okay.
And it allows me to move a villager to a different house location within the same district. So I can't teleport, you know, villagers between district via this specific card. Okay. And that is it. That is the end of my turn because I've taken my three actions. So now we are going to adjust the panic and curse track.
I I ate three of the same type of villager, which means we are going to increase the curse track by two as well as the panic track. One, two. We need to get that up. I'm one step closer to being in this threshold that will give you a one-coin discount on all discount. ingredients. So now let's go ahead and digest these villagers by placing them into your draw bag.
we go. And now you have some spaces to fill and I'm going to draw a new power card. And that is for my turn. So now it is back to you as the wizard. Okay, so we are going to roll the die and see where the newest resident of our village is going to be residing. So let's go ahead and roll it. There you go.
We got an 11. 11. So this is one through five, this is six through 10, 11 through 15, and then the rest are here. is already occupied. So when that's the case, I get to draw and decide where exactly I want to place this individual. So let's see what we got. Each house can only hold one. Ah, look at that.
We brought them back. Um well, let's go ahead and put them on So this is a one, right? Yeah. Let's go ahead and put them on this one right here. Cheap spot where they where they formally were. So now it's going to go to the wizard. Let's go ahead and wake up the wizard. Okay. And the wizard has no idea what is happening by the way.
Ooh. Clueless. They just wake up to sights of sheep and bones and Like bad things. So for my first action, I am going to go ahead and cast the hypnotize spell. Mhm, okay. Now this one is going to require me to spend one of my green ingredients. That's why I purchased two of these cuz I knew I wanted to play this card.
Okay. And essentially what this does is it allows me to choose a villager from the bag, roll the die, and then place them in the corresponding location. Oh, nice. Very similar to how my my last roll went. Yeah. So I'm going to have to spend this. So off that goes. Okay. This is going to get me five coins though for doing this.
So now I have six coins to my name. This is a one-off bonus. Yes. So this is done. And let's go ahead and I'm going to grab a yellow villager, merchant. Oh, the merchants. They are rare. Merchants and nobles are quite rare. Very rare. So let's go ahead and just place them in Well, no, you have to roll the die.
The spot that the die tells me to do, yeah. I'm hoping that I roll a repeat. Okay. One. One is occupied. It's occupied. So I'm going to go ahead and just place them in the I think the only vacant lot. I could put them here, but I don't want to do that. So let's go ahead and put that one right there.
Okay. So that is action one. And the card that you just played is in your discard because if we ever run out of cards in our deck, we do get to reshuffle them. Yes. Okay, seeing as I need this ingredient in order to uh continue my advancement towards my end game. I happen to be in the same location.
So, for a free movement, we're going to go here and we are just going to purchase a simple single brown resource for one coin. One simple coin. Okay. Just one coin. One simple coin. It's the cheapest it gets. Simple ingredient. And then I'm going to go ahead and just place that there. Nice. So, that is my second action.
Now, as my third action, it's time to go back to my shop, my laboratory. So, I'm going to cross over this wall here. Oops, not that one. I'm going to cross over this wall here. Okay. And because I really want to do it in this action, I have to pay a fee for that. Yes. You're hiring a carrot. I'm hiring a carrot, so it's going to cost me one coin.
So, my five gets eroded down to four. Okay. But that was why you needed the money. Yes. To do all these things. And then now with my third action, I am going to brew all of these different potions. So, we have the green for this one, the brown for this, and then the black for that one. So, all three will go out.
Yeah, I wanted to just do it all in one turn and we go one, two, three. Nice. Congrats. So, this is why I brought the yellow out because I cannot get off the block unless I have yellow going. Now, obviously, Monique is probably going to consume that one. Well, But who knows? The yellow the merchants, they do gain me the most amount of energy at three.
They do. But I really want to consume several of the same type and they are in different districts. So, I would have to keep on crossing. I don't know. It's hard. And then I draw another card. All right. So, then it is back as the monster. And again, if you did not join us for the teach, we are playing with some upgraded components.
So, as you can see, we have these coins as well as the the energy markers. And so, in the retail edition of the game, they will be a cardboard markers. So, I'm going to go ahead and take another feeding action. And of course, I am the monster who's trying to become a legendary creature. And you know what?
I am now realizing that this is such a bad spot for me because all of the colors of villagers around me are different. And even if I wanted to eat the yellow villagers, to cross locations that contain villagers. And when moving, I'm required to stop at locations that have a villager. Right. So, I guess I'll just have to do something else.
I'm going to move one space. I'll consume another hunter. I really have a vendetta Yeah. against these hunters. That gets me one energy. I'm going to move again this way. I'm going to consume the merchant. So, that old merchant. Gains me three. Three, yeah. That's the most valuable. That is the most valuable.
Any time I could spend these as enhancements, so I'm going to spend three, four, five, six to lower the panic track Okay. by one. Or wait, no. I don't want to do that yet. Hold on. One, two, three, four, five, six. I just realized that this space is the one that's adjacent, not this wall. So, in order for me to get to this yellow villager, I will have to move an additional space.
Yes. So, for my last action, I'm going to go one, two, requiring me to cross this guard, so I do have to flip it over. And it increases the panic track by one. Here we go. Ugh, that's unfortunate. Now, we are in the yellow zone. Okay. So, if this stays here, Naveen, then you get a one coin discount I'll take it.
ingredients. Sure. And I'm going to spend two energy in order to move one additional space. So, I'm going to move over here. So, you're going along this track right here, this line. path. So, you're avoiding the butcher that's over here. I'm avoiding the butcher and I'm consuming the merchant. Merchant.
So, that's another three. One, two, three energy. Give us peace. Um before I end my turn, I'm going to play a power card. This is fast food. So, I have to have a merchant in my belly and I have to spend one energy. Okay. And this is an ongoing ability that basically says I only need to spend one energy to move an additional movement.
So, this is going to stay in front of me. just made that ratio of two to one now one to one. It did. Fast food. Now, there are cards that allow us to discard cards in front of each other. Uh-huh. But for now, that is going to stay there. Dang it. And I'm also going to spend six. One, two, three, four, five, six.
Well, I guess there's no point cuz it's going to end up on that yellow track anyway. I'm just going to hold on to my my energy for now. I was going to spend it to decrease the panic marker, but it's going to end up in yellow anyway because I consumed two of the same type. So, because of that, this is going to increase by one and so will the curse track.
So, I'm now three spaces up. So, let's go ahead and digest these unfortunate unfortunate souls. And I'm going to end my turn by drawing a power card. Okay. So, this goes back to me. Let's go. Yes. What do I end my turn here? Yeah. So, I'm going to go ahead and flip it for you. Thank you. So, I have a one discount.
You do. You have a one discount on ingredients, which means if you were to purchase from houses that Yeah, like like this one. Those are free. Free? So, this is bad for me. I need to lower the panic marker. Okay, so let's roll. Let's see where the new villager will be. Heading in. Where are you going to live?
Three. Three. Three is up here. This one. So, it's occupied. All right. Now, I don't get to choose what comes out of this bag. The bag will choose. It is a woodworker. Okay, so we have the brown. Mhm. Where do I I want to I do not want them in the same zone. I need to have them kind of spread out so that Monique does not have access to consuming them all.
Yeah. Let's just bring them into location eight. Okay. Seems like a nice one. Well, the first action I'm going to do is I am going to go ahead and move on over here for free in the same zone and I am in the farmlands. So, this new farmhands spell that I'm going to cast, it requires me to be exactly in that location.
Mhm. And so, essentially what I am able to do is I basically repopulate the village twice very similar to how I start my turn. So, I don't get to choose what comes out of the bag, but I'm going to roll twice and then place them out twice. Nice. And then I'm going to get six coins though. Oh, that's so much.
Money. Money is very important. Yeah, so much money. As the wizard. Okay. I don't have to steal, you know. So, that's in play right now. Let's go ahead and roll the first one. So, Okay. where are we going to be? It is an 11. All right. Want to go ahead and draw. 11 is here. So, you get to place them out anywhere.
And the vacant spots are seven, 12. wanted something really nice to be at the four. So, let's see what we got. We have Okay, another one of these, which is not good. Well, I don't have to put it there. You don't have to put it there. Because 11 is the one that's occupied. I'll put them in seven. Okay.
I'm really hoping for a merchant to show up again. You consumed two of them in the last one. Yeah. And I need to get a yellow resource I consumed them. I know you did. You know exactly what I'm up to. I do. All right. Ready? We have Oh, no. Another one. Oh, no. They are needed here, but I have one for cheap here because of the discount.
Says one coin. So, I mean, the thing is you can always go here to purchase one one ingredient of any type type. for five coins, but really four. Right now. I'll place this one here. Okay. I mean, the thing is you have access You have to roll this. Oh, yeah. I'm assuming I'm not going to roll a four, basically.
Okay. There we go. 19. So, I will occupied here. Place them there. Okay. What's the distance from here? One, two, three. Yeah, we're going to go back here because then you're going to have to spend at least one of your energy. Okay. So, this was an instant effect that is gone. So, I have two more actions.
I'm going to go shopping. So, I'm going to go and send myself over to this one and for free, I am going to get one black claw resource right here. Gosh, I need to lower this so desperately. And then I'm going to head on over here to house number three. Yeah. And here, it's going to cost normally two coins for one of these white wishbone, which is the what the butcher gives us.
Uh-huh. So, I'm going to buy two of those at a discount of one each for a total of two of two coins. four. Okay. And then now I have these two. Okay. So, that should have been three actions. One was playing the spell, two, three, and then that'll wrap up my turn. So, the wizard is at location three.
Location three. All right. So, that is going to end your turn. I'm going to go ahead and flip it over to the monster. If you'd like to draw up Yes. Thank you. All right. So, now it is back to me as the monster. Unfortunately, there is a fair amount of panic in the village because of what I've been doing, which I guess is deserved.
But just so you know, I believe the guard tokens that caused me to increase the panic level, I believe no more of those exist. There are only two of them. Yeah, and I pulled them both. both? Yeah, I did. So, those are those are both gone. And some of the guards have no effect. So, I think for my turn, I would like to decrease the panic track.
I don't like you having a discount with all this money. You have eight coins. I'm going to take a quiet night turn. Okay. So, the the village will be And it will be able to rest a little easier. Okay. However, that also means that the curse track is reduced by one. So, that is keeping me one away or like, you know, it slows my progress.
But I also get to decrease the panic track by two. So, I'm no longer in that yellow threshold, which means that your discount is now gone. It is gone. And I get to play a power card for free. Oh, interesting. And this means ignoring all requirements, which means I'm playing noble blood. This typically would require me to to eat a noble, which is a purple Yeah.
villager, and increase the panic track. But because this is for free, I don't have to do that. And this basically it back. Yeah, it increase the curse increase the curse track by one. So, this is now discarded. That's a one-off. So, I'll go ahead and draw a replacement card and then I end a quiet night turn by drawing two replacement villagers.
Now, I think there's actually only one vacant spot, right? I think 12, the house 12 is the only one. Okay. So, then I don't even need to roll this. yeah. I'm just going to Can you pass me the bag, please? I'm just going to randomly pick one. Who shall join? It is you. Yes. But no at the same time. A merchant.
Yes, but no because they're in the same spot. My friends, hello. All right. Get out. That's it for me. So it's back to you, wizard. Dang it. I wanted them badly, but now I don't want them in that same spot. Okay. So I'm going to skip adding a villager because all 20 locations are populated. They are all being resided.
So this wizard is going to go ahead and we are going to be traveling we are going to travel to let's travel to this location right there. So because I am crossing over this bridge this way, we are taking a ferry or a carriage A carriage. across that bridge and we are going to go to this location and that's going to cost me one coin.
Yes. So that's a free action. If I did not want to pay, then it would cost me the entire action. Right. And I'm going to go ahead and cast a spell, the box of holding. Now this one requires me to be exactly in that location that I have depicted there. Okay. That's why I had to go there. Yeah. And then I have to give up one of those white resources.
That's why I bought two. That's a wishbone. a wishbone. Yeah. The butcher. Yeah. Yes, yes. So this is that. So I'm going to get four coins. Okay. So I'll take a five and give back one. Mhm. And what this basically does is it gives me a fourth capacity. So now I can hold up to four different ingredients.
That's bad. For you, but for me it's good. That's so bad. I have 11 bucks. There we go. Okay. Now don't forget you can always spend four energy to get rid of one of my cards, which is probably what you're going to do. That's a lot of energy though. It is. Now seeing as I need this help from this merchant to get off this block we are going to move over to the cheaper merchant, the newly residing one and not go to the one that costs four.
And I am going to purchase one gold for two. So I'm going to get three change. So if I five goes out, three comes back Mhm. and then I get gold back to me. Okay. And then we are going to not make it as easy for you to just eat both of these two. We are going to go ahead and come back to the lab spending one coin in our pathway Yes.
to cross over that bridge and we are going to go ahead and we're going to go ahead and mix a cure with the gold, the white, and the black. So gold, white, black. All three of those will go out. Oh, wow. And then we are going to move one, two, three. So now for me I'm looking for the brown, the green, and the white.
to get far away from this place. Yeah. And now I just have to draw a card and then it's going to be back to you. All right, let's go ahead and flip this over to the monster side. So will you be feeding? Yes. Seeing as you need brown Uh-huh. first I'm going to move here and consume the woodworker. My cheap woodworker.
So that's going to be the last two energy. Now I don't have any more energy in my supply, so it is best for me to use these. I'm going to spend six. One, two, three, four, five, six. Um Are you bringing down the the to bring down Yeah, I'm going to bring down the the panic. So So that even if I do consume two woodworkers, I'll still be in the green.
Sure. Then I'll move here and I'll consume the hunter for one energy. Off you go, hunter. There's that. And then I'm going to go one, two, three paying one energy because of my fast food for that extra movement. And I have to flip over one of these two cuz both lead to the same. Let's do this one. Please.
Haha, no effect. All right, that goes out of the game. So let's consume this unfortunate woodcutter. That is two two energy. And so I have one, two, three, four, five. Okay, I'm going to play a power card. Now again, this is free for me to It doesn't take an action. This is spell writer's block. So I need to have a hunter in my belly and I have to spend one energy and this allows me to discard No, sorry.
This doesn't discard anything. This This gets placed in front of the wizard. And as an ongoing ability or punishment, you no longer draw up spell cards. So if you cast them, you won't refill them. The only way to get rid of this is by buying gold. So you can get rid of it. It's just going to cost you because you don't need gold until the very end, you know?
So if I buy gold from a merchant, this automatically goes away? That will go away, yes. So that was your three actions, correct? Doesn't my three actions, but before I end my turn, I'm going to spend the last four of my energy to discard your box of holding so that you don't get to use it. You got your coins.
You swapped my abilities. All right. So I have You didn't I've eaten two woodworkers, so that is one curse increase and a panic marker increase. So 10 to 10. perfect panic spot right there. go. It goes in your bag and I'm going to refill my power. So now it's back to you as a wizard. Please leave me alone.
So let me go ahead and Now we are going to roll. We are going to see who is coming to the village. That's right. There you go. Because you have a couple of vacant I do. Yeah. So let's go. Okay, 14. 14 is like I'm on top of 14. Oh, right. Look at that. So you're going to get I feel like that's a nice spot.
It's only one coin. Wow, you don't I really need brown and you just consumed a couple brown. Let's get a brown. Please be brown. Black. Okay. All right. It's a hunter. All these hunters. They are the most The hunters and the the farmers They are. are the most are the most abundant. Yeah. Well, I really need that brown ingredient and there's only one woodcutter out there.
There they are. Over yonder. does that cost? That That's three plus one for moving over there? Yeah. All right, I'll do it. Let's do it. So I'm going to move over. We're going to go all the way over. We're crossing this bridge. We're taking a little ferry slash um carriage. Yeah. So that cost me one coin.
I will pay the fee cuz I I I need the action. And then now I'm going to buy just one single brown, which is going to cost me three, which is depicted there. So five gets eroded down to two. You're eroded. Eroded. I only have four coins left. Scary. So you get brown. get a brown, which is definitely needed.
Then so that was action one. How much is this white over here? Oh, that's a one. And how much is this one? A two? Two. All right, let's do it. So I'm going to go ahead and purchase by moving over to this one. Mhm. They're both two, right? Yes, they're both two. They're both two? Same thing. So I'll just go ahead and hang out here.
Spend two. I I I really like that discount when I had it. Two. Oh god, I'm glad that that it's no longer a thing. it's gone. Yeah. And then now the last one we are going to move within the same zone not paying any fees for doing this. Visiting the butcher in house number 16 paying one coin Uh-huh. to get that white resource that is so desperately needed.
So that's brown, green, white. Close. Getting there, but now I'm a little concerned about money. Okay. So the wizard is at location 16, right? 16, yep. Okay, so now the monster begins. Can you imagine the wizard is being friendly all day and then eats them Yeah. at night. It's It's his struggle. Awful.
Now seeing as you don't have much money, I really don't want to raise this without having a plan to to bring it back down. Okay. So I'm going to take a quiet Oh, interesting. Because I'm also really far away from the laboratory. So it does require you to track to go back there. It's basically going to cost me a whole action.
Yes. So I reduce my cure track by one, but panic goes down by two. And now I can buy a power card for free. So this is stunned stag. It It's supposed to cost seven energy, but this is free and this is It's getting right back. back up on the cure track. All right, this gets discarded. I'm going to replace this and now how many vacant spots we have?
At least two? A few, yeah. Are these the only two? Uh one, two is what I see, yeah, cuz you didn't eat anybody. All right, so then I'm going to just add villagers to those locations, but I think I have to roll the die Sure. just in case you land it. Yeah, the So there's a seven and an eight. So it's going to be a woodworker.
Let's see. 14. Um then I guess I'll place it at eight. Okay. So we just put it in the little housey. There you go. How soon are you going to need brown? You have brown. brown. The last one is the very less expensive of the two. And a merchant will go on the three three coin spot. There we go. All right, that's it for me.
So wizard, you are still in the same spot. You probably just had a nap there. Now I think we're fully loaded, right? There's no vacancies. So we're just going to skip adding a villager. I do not have much money. I know. I will be I have eight coin. I will be leaving and going back to our lab, but I am going to say it's going to cost me a whole action.
I'm not going to spend because normally it would cost me one two two coins. I only have one coin, so I'm taking the entire action Right. Cuz the action covers the cost of the entire trip. Correct, yeah. Okay. Okay. And then now we are going to work in the lab. So this is going to be one, two, three.
So it's brown, green, white. Oh boy. All right, so that's number two. All right. And then now and I have no coins and this is my last action. So I'm going to put a spell into play, I'm going to have to move first. I'm going to move over here. Don't like it. I'm going to play summoned steed. So this one basically needs me to be in the windmill spot, hence why I'm there.
And then essentially anytime I am taking an action to go back to the lab to mix your potion my potions, yeah. I do not have to spend any of the money. So very If I had this in play prior to doing what I just did, then I wouldn't have had to waste a turn, you know, so. But really I need this for the two coins.
So this is going to be an ongoing thing. I'll just kind of keep it here. Okay. And then I'll get two coins for myself. All right. And now you don't draw up because you have spell writer's block. I do. Which is an unfortunate element happenings Yes. uh to wizards. All right, done? Yep. So, then it goes back to me as the monster and I will start here.
You, I think, are definitely further along on your track, so I have some work to do. You think I'm a little too afraid of panic. You you are. So, I think it is time to consume some merchants. Mhm. They're in a nice little string. So, I'm going to move for one and eat. Yummy. So, merchants gain me three uh three energy.
So, that's what's kind of nice. is I need merchants out there and I want to get rid of this card. your problem, isn't it? it is. I'm going to move across this gate that I've traveled to once before Okay. and consume that merchant. So, that's another three and then finally eating people. merchant. Boom.
And that's another out on energy. out on energy. So, I'm going to spend four energy to discard your summon steed so that you have to pay. So, go back home? back home. This is not coming back to me. No, hopefully not. a one-off I never even got to play. There you go. All right. Yeah, it did cost a lot of energy though, so that is But you did consume a lot of energy, so it's kind of that.
All right, that's the end of my turn. So, I have three of the same kind. So, now I get to move up twice. So, one, two. One, two. So, I'm going to leave those to hang out in that nice upper extreme of the green, yeah. Yeah, that is a place that you you should be hanging out at. You don't want to cross these these boundaries.
So, the wizard doesn't deserve any favors. No. All right, back to you. Mhm. All right, so wizard time. Let's see. You must roll. I must roll. There are some I would like a vacancy. I would like this to be filled. I want to gamble. It's really expensive. It is. Seven. Where is seven? Oh, that is a Seven is here.
where they go. All right, so Let's see who is the new the new unknown Oh, this is not good. It's another woodworker. We do not want too many people who work in the same profession in the same area because Monique will eat them. That's true. Okay, since I'm in this location here, we are going to go ahead Well, let's try to let's try to steal first.
Oh. I'm going to try to steal. Okay. Trying to trying to figure out uh Up to four. It's up to four. I What do you think? I want I want the odds to be on my side. Yeah. I'm going to say What do you think? Should I go for three or two? You tell me. Just say that that's I don't want to be responsible. Two.
I'm going for two. This is this is a very Yeah. sad. Yeah. One. One. You don't It's a fail. an action though to make it succeed. And I would get the two. And you would get the two. All right, I'll do it. Okay. I guess I'll have to do it. So, that was action two. Yes. So, I'll take the two coins. That's a bummer.
One more action left. I do. All right. Well, seeing as black is one of the next uh kind of spells or potions that I need on deck, so I'm going to just move over here freely Mhm. and just pay the very cheap one very very cheap one Okay. uh and just get myself one single ingredient. That's that. Yeah.
going to need purple first, which means you want to try to get there maybe. Sure. All right. Done? That's it. Okay, let's go ahead and flip over to the monster side. This is not really ideal. No. But I felt kind of comfortable doing that, but I should have said four and failed it. Well, Naveen, discount time.
Oh, are you feeding? I'm going to feed. I'm trying to I want to go blip blip blip. That's my goal here. I Well, you know, one of us has to. Yes, one of those one of those have to. Consuming the unfortunate Are you going all green? farmer. That's a single yeah. I'm going to go down this way. Uh do I Yeah, I guess I'll just go through the garden.
So, one, two Okay. And we have to flip this over. Negative. I have to spend an energy. So, I lose one one energy. The one that you're about to gain back from eating. From eating the green green, so you get it back. villager. So, I get one back and then I'm going to move over here Ah, yeah, yeah. and consume this one.
So, I have a lot of energy. I'm going to go one, two, three, four, five, six Oh. and I'm going to bring the panic marker one down. But it's not enough because I consumed three, which means it's going to go up by two. Yeah. So, curse marker also one, two and one, two. So, you get a discount. times. This goes into the bag the bag and you start over here.
I do. All right, so we are going to roll. Let's just see where our new resident shall reside. have a few options now because you have a few vacant spaces here. We have a 17. 17, that's here. So, you you can choose where they go. Okay, so I know I have black. I need purple, but I'm in that area and then I need black I'm sorry, I need green, which is the next one.
Should probably bring back a green. I want to put them on a really cheap spot. You don't have a choice. You have to bring back. So, That's true. But I'm assuming it's green. randomly. That is so true. It could very well be green. No, it's not. It's brown. How do I keep brown away from you doing exactly what you did?
I'll put them here. Okay. Away from everybody else. All right. Well, first action, I know I definitely need to get that purple, so we are just going to move on over here. Instead of paying two for a purple, I'm only going to pay one Okay. to get one single purple. Okay. And so that comes back to me.
I only have space for one more. And how much how much money do I have? Three? Yikes. It's kind of bad. I am going to go ahead and move all the way over to the green spot. Oh. And I will not be paying my fees to do that. So, that's action two. Okay. action three will be taking one green ingredient for free cuz I get a discount is one minus one, so zero.
Uh and that is my entire turn. Wow. You moved. I moved. Really far. I did. But now it's time to feed. It is. Yeah. Okay, back to me. I'm going to take a feeding turn because I feel like I'm close, which means these I mean, they're they're good for the wizard, but also, you know, not too bad for me. Yeah.
So, maybe we do increase panic. Sure. So, I'm going to start by feeding on this villager. So, it's a green villager. Okay, that's one energy. I gain one energy. Okay. So, there's that. Then I'm going to move over here. So, one, two. And the reason why I took that way is because I have a card that I'm going to play in a second.
So, let me consume the woodworker first for two energy and I'm going to play a power card. This is courier horse. So, I need to have consumed a green villager and at some point in my turn have to have visited that. I've been trying to play this for so long, but I couldn't find my way to this this area for some reason.
Wow. It just gains me three energy. So, pretty straightforward. So, that's done. That's an immediate thing. And then for my third movement, I'm just going to move up one space here to consume the other uh one. So, you're at max again? I'm at max again. Max nine. I'm at max nine. One, two, three, four, five, six You're just going to lower it.
Lower this by one. No. It's still going to be in the yellow zone. I need push. Push. But that is it. So, my people I have two of the same type here, which increases by one. Okay. And back into the yellow zone. Man, is that a nice Come on, people. And I get a new power card. I've been wanting to try to refresh my power card for a long time.
Oh, you didn't like that? That was It seemed pretty good for whatever you had. really hard to get there, but now I have at least another option, so. Let's see who's coming in. We have to roll the die. That's right. All right, so I will roll the blue one and it is at location nine. I feel like location nine's here somewhere.
It's occupied. All right, so Well, okay, so I have everything for a purple black So, I need Okay. Okay. wizard wizard. It is going to be a Oh, a yellow. A yellow. Must eat. I'll put them here in house 10. Okay. Cuz I'll be able to get it for free and then when I do, that'll break this curse. Well, action one, I'm happened to be in the same zone as my lab, so we're going to go ahead and move over here for free.
We're going to turn in purple, black, green, so it's purple, black, green. So close. one, two, three, four, five, six. I got I got to do that twice. Uh I don't know. We we have a good race here. Next, I'm going to go ahead and move on over to this character here and I am going to purchase uh from the butcher, which is going to cost me zero because it's one minus one.
I'm going to purchase two free wishbones. Okay. Oh, gosh. the butcher and I are working together here. We're a little bit in cahoots here. the butcher. I'm kind of sick of the spell writer's block, so we're going to just move on over here and get a free gold. A free gold. You've done this. I've done this.
I've broken the spell writer's block spell. Off it goes into your discard pile. That'll wrap up my turn because that was three actions. So, I went one Mhm. two, three. I have three cards, so now I get to see a new one. Finally, right? Yeah. All right. Finally, yeah. Back to me as the monster. No quiet nights remain.
So, then I am going to move over this way. I'm going to cross a different district. So, one, two via the Oops, sorry. Well, might as well eat him, right? You stunned him, ate him. Um yeah, I just crossed over through the wall that I had already crossed before. So, hunters gain me one energy and then I'm going to cross through a new wall.
So, one, two and then I have to spend one energy for three because of my fast food. Typically, it cost two. Um and I have to flip this. What is it? Energy. The discarded energy. Which I think is the energy you're just going to get back from feeding on them. Well, I would have had an additional one, but yes, I'm going to feed on that one.
So, I gain another one and I'm going to move over here I'm sick of it. and pick off a third hunter. What are you doing over here? What are you doing? Is that two advance? So, that's going to be two. Two progressions, one, two. One, two. No villager will arrive at the start of your turn. But you get you continue to get that discount.
So, this goes into your bag. If this panic tracker gets to the red zone, then the wizard, aka Naveen, will gain an additional action on his turn. Yeah, I'd love a I'd love a fourth action. Uh that would be great. That would be horrible. So, we're going to have to manage. Yeah, cuz we're in the orange, we do not draw anymore.
Yes, we do not. So, just go straight to the Good and a bad thing at the same time? Your turn. Where did we Okay, here. You're there. I am there. Okay, my very first action, what we're going to do is we're going to slide on down to the windmill over here. That's going to cost me one coin. I will pay it.
Okay. Uh because I do have to take a carriage across. Uh and then my second action, we are going to play mind control. Now, mind control uh is a spell that is an immediate resolution. your first action. You're right. Because you don't actually have to Yeah, yeah. Why was I paying if I didn't Yeah. Uh it's going to cost me that wishbone, hence why I bought two for free.
Uh and then this one right here is be there. So, that's the resource. Okay. The ingredient. And now I can I can bring a villager to any house. Any one. Move one. Yeah. Yeah, it's an empty house. So, seeing as I need green badly and green is on the absolute most expensive space possible, uh we're going to go ahead and just bring them on down to a location that is a little bit more affordable.
Yes. You know, on the other side of the tracks. And you also get money for that. I do. I get three coins. It's something I should not be shorting myself as I need money. So, now I have five coins here. They're They're kind of stacked up. Okay. Uh so now, second action, we're going to go ahead and visit with said person spending one coin instead of two because of the discount and I'm going to gain myself that green.
Oh, you have everything. we're going to go ahead and just slip ourselves into the old laboratory. Mixing. Oh, wait. I don't have the purple right now. There was a supposed to be a setup. This is not supposed can remedy this, though. So, do you remember how you had the the hunter you ate out there? Yes, the string of hunters.
Okay, so I have this card, Mhm. invisibility, and this one required me to spend gold and be in the fountain area, which is what I would have had at the time. Okay. So, basically, I would finish my turn here. So, I would do that as my first action. So, let's do that do that first. Go ahead. So, I started You started here.
Yep. You're going to do that spend the gold. the gold, be at the fountain, and then this one basically says every single uh round, every single turn ongoing, I can do one free steal action. Oh. And so I get two coins for for doing that. So, I'm going to take a five and give back two. Uh sorry, give back three.
Interesting. Okay. Uh and then so that would be action one. Action two would be coming here uh and then doing that mind control that I did. Yes, right. Right. And then action three would then be going and purchasing that at a discount, that green at a discount. Does that make sense? Okay. Yeah, and I would not be going to the lab.
Okay. And then with this in play, I would then do my free steal here with the green. Okay. Sounds good. Okay, so let's get the the die tray. Oh, you're going to Oh, cuz they're occupied. I'm free stealing. can steal up to two coins, it looks I'm going to say two. You're going to say the full two? You don't have room to fail.
Three. Three. All right. All right, so I get two coins. All right, so now my total coinage is eight. And then that makes more sense cuz now I needed space for that purple. Yes, so I need to get you away from this area. You do. So, I do draw back up to four cuz now that curse is gone. All right, well, I'm going to go ahead and flip you over cuz it's my turn.
I'm only three away. Yeah. There's not that many There aren't that many options. You ate them. I ate everybody. There's a lot of white out there, so if you can somehow fly across the board, you can probably do it. All right, well, I I just want to run away from the laboratory. So, I'm going to go one, two, three, four.
So, that's going to cost me two energy, one energy per additional movement. I'm going to consume the unfortunate woodworker. That's another two energy. I'm going to put monstrous leap into play. So, I have to have a woodworker in my belly and I spent three energy and one time I can use this to move anywhere.
To just go anywhere? It's a monstrous leap after all. A leap. Okay. Thematic. Okay. Um now, I will not be leaping, but I am going to go uh I guess I'll eat the butcher. So, one Well, I have to flip this over first. Ah, discard my energy. Perfect. And you had one. Okay, that's one, two. And I will consume the butcher for two energy.
And then I'm going to move down here. One, two, and consume the woodworker. It's you causing problems. two more energy. And oh, do I do this? Oh my gosh. You're going to take away my ability to steal? I'm tempted to. No, I'm going to hold on to my my energy. I may need them in the future. Okay. So, I'm going to end my turn.
I've consumed two of the same, so this is going to go up by one. I only need two more. I need to bring that back. goes up by one as well. So, these go into the bag even though we are not going to be populating the bag with anyone. population. All right, we're at the tail end here. Oh my gosh. Naveen, back to you as the wizard.
Well, as the wizard, we definitely need purple. You put us into a position to get that. I did. So, it's going to be a one discount, so it's only going to cost me one. So, off that goes, I get my purple. Uh what are all the fees to get back home? It is going to be Two. Two coins. Just one, two. And Okay, that's good.
That was the So, had we stayed here, it would have cost me three minus one. So, okay. Our four minus one it would have been three. So, it's the same price whether I'm there or coming back. So, I'm going to come all the way back. It's going to cost me that two. Mhm. Okay, one, two. And then now we're going to do what I was set set out to do.
Mix. We're doing white, Yes. purple, and green. So, I am now Oh my gosh, you're three away. Three away. I don't know, though. You're You're doing pretty well right now. So, I know. So, that was the second action. Uh the third action is Oh, sorry. You know what? I have supposed to draw a power card. Okay.
Uh the third action is going to probably be Well, I know I need gold. Mhm. There's the one time there's a gold out there. You're probably going to eat them. So, I might as well go. Uh it's going to cost me nothing. One minus one is zero. So, I get my gold and I'll just put it into that slot there. Okay.
Um Oh, I get a free steal action. steal. Interesting. I should have done it when I was at the purple person. Um okay, I will I will steal for one. For one? Yeah, I mean, that's all I can move to a different house in that that that district? Oh, just in order to steal? Yeah. That's right. I won't, though, because if I move to the most abundant one here, you're going to use your leaping ability and eat all my purple people, which I don't want to have happen.
Okay. All right, so I'm just going to steal for one. For one? For one. I need to roll a non-one. Yes, you just need to roll Okay, six. Ah, so close to a one. It would have been great to roll a four, but okay. I get one coin. Yeah. All right. So, that is me. All right, back to me as the monster. Let's see.
Can we do it? I hope not. I think I can do it. I would have to eat the butchers because I have to basically go up by two. Sure. So, I'm going to start by moving here and consuming this butcher. Mhm. So, two energy. Although, I'm not really Well, I actually I do probably need these to move. Then I'm going to um leap monstrously Uh-huh.
and I'm just going to leap uh all the way over here Oh, no. and consume this butcher. The butcher. So, another two. And then I guess I could also spend my otherworldly heal No. to move this butcher a little bit closer. No. I'll leave them there. And then I'm just going to go Run. one, two, three, four to spend two energy to do that It's too good.
and consume the butcher. That is it. We have three of the same type of villager increasing the curse track by two as well as the panic track. We're I would have had an extra turn?
