By the way, some of these customers are actually like um people in the board gaming board gaming scene. Hey everyone, this is Today I'll bring you my second playthrough of Crumbs, the sandwich filler game by Jonathan Angel and um illustrated by Rory Mulun. Um, I'm saying second play through because um, this was on Kickstarter a few years ago and before the Kickstarter, I gave you a preview of this game uh, with my old setup and everything. So, um, I've been wanting to do another video on this game um, for a while now uh, especially now with my latest setup because I think this could speak to quite a few people and that's what I'm doing today. All right, before we get started, as usual, grab yourself a cup of tea and let's do this. All right, there we go. What is this game? Well, this is a solo game that you can also play at a two-player account. I have only played it solo so far and where you try to fulfill sandwich orders. So, let me just uh do a quick setup of the game and then I will show you how this works.

All right, and that already concludes the set of the game. So, what do you see here? Well, um this is like the area where we prep our sandwiches. Um, here I have a few tokens. Um, and uh, here up here is the counter. This is like where I can get the ingredients from. By the way, I did this the wrong way. It should be like this rather here. Let me do it like that. Um, uh, this is the counter here including the bread. Um, here are the orders that I want to fulfill. Um, we start with like the first order card here on top and then we reveal more as we clear customers here. Each customer has one to three sandwiches they want fulfilled. the order of the ingredients don't matter between the types of bread. Also, the bottom bread doesn't count. Like the type uh doesn't matter unless it's an open sandwich that has no top.

Um but the top sandwich does count because there are several types of bread in here. So like the regular uh uh white one here and then we have the brown one and the dark one here. Okay. Um and also we have our five action tokens here to count how many actions I still have left for that round. How the game works is pretty simple. We have like five actions that we can use during our turn. A a turn always ends either when all action tokens um are uh have been used or if a order has been fulfilled. If I don't manage to fulfill an order, an order is like like one sandwich, not an entire order, but a sandwich. If I don't manage to fulfill a sandwich uh during a round, I lose. I win if I finish all three order cards. That's pretty much it. The actions I can take are very simple as well. I can take an action to take any one of uh the ingredients as many times as I want to and put them on my sandwiches. Um the second action is if I have a bread, I can turn it over to toast it. Um and I can toast several at a at one point also. Um after I fulfill sandwiches, they will go into the pantry. So I can't use them. I can do a restock action with an action here in order to take a sandwich like take one type of ingredient and refill that with as many cards as there are. There is a maximum of two per ingredient. So I am quite limited there. And that is pretty much all the actions that I can take as soon as the sandwich is done. The round

like the round or the turn ends immediately and I fulfill that order. That's pretty much it. There are a few extra uh things here. There are the um the quirky customers. That's like a module you can play with. And these are the the symbols up here and they do specific things. Um I will play just the base game for now. If you want to see a play through with the quirky customers to make it a little bit harder, uh let me know. All right. And with that, we can get started. So, um you see here we have Maggie and James. By the way, some of these uh some of these people, some of these customers are actually like um people in the board gaming board gaming scene that are well known. That's pretty cool. All right, so with my first action, of course, um I will um use my first action to get some bread. Um so I will definitely take one, two, let me take three.

Can I take three? Yeah, I think that's a good idea to take three. I think so. I think let me take a darker one for the bottom here. So, this one I can't do right now, but like this I think um there are quite a few that I can make. Yeah, that's fine. Okay, for my first action, I will just take one ingredient as many times as I want to and put them on my sandwiches. Um and then let me see here. So, we need some ham. Avocados we need. So, and we do have two avocados here. So I will just um take two avocados. I will put one on. It doesn't matter. Uh one here and one I will put here. Actually we want to also finish this one here. Like this. Then I will take one for some salmon I think because I do need salmon on that sandwich as well.

Yeah. But then again I could also take some ham. Um then I could like finish more sandwiches quicker. But I don't think I would do that. I would actually take these. Oh, actually I only have one salmon from salmon. I only have one because one of these order cards, let me just turn them over. One of them is a salmon. So that is the reason why I only have one uh salmon or I only have one egg. That's one important thing. So I can't combine uh salmon here, which is kind of bad. I would have liked to do that, but I guess I can't. So, um, then, yeah, let me take the salmon anyway and put it on this one here. So, I still have two actions. Um, yeah, I need to finish this one here. So, let me take another action to take some bread. So, we will put one bread on this.

Actually, I will not do that yet. I will just put a salmon on a bread. Let me let me just think. Let me put a bread on this one here. Um, and let me put a bread on this one here. I think it's a good idea to do that. Um, so this sandwich is done. You see here, uh, we have the bread. Then we have avocado and salmon. The order doesn't matter, but I have the right order. And another piece of bread. So this, uh, is finished. So instead of me being able to do another action, the round ends, I would turn in this sandwich. Let me take like one of these order tokens here and put them here on this sandwich. So we um so we note that we have done that one and these all go to the pantry. So now for finishing that sandwich I get one free restock action.

Um do I need bread? I need a bit of bread but I also need like salmon which is important. Uh you know what? Let me get a salmon back as a restock like this. And then I get all of my uh tokens back here and we start a new round. Okay, so let me see. Um let me take one action to take this ham here like that. Um and then let me also take a bread like this. Would I actually do that? I think I will. And then let me do a bit of restock. So, um I will do some restock here to take uh take the avocado. Actually, I would get the avocado in just a moment probably. But still, let me put the avocado there as a free re as a restock action. Um and then I need one action to toast here. Yeah. Then let me take one action in order to toast these here. I could toast both, but I think I will only toast one for now. I think that's a good idea. Let me just toast this one here for now. So, this one is immediately done. So, we fulfilled that order here as well. So, we will take all of those, put them back into the pantry.

But from the free restock action, I will take all of this bread back here like this. And we get all of these back. Okay. So, this one here, I just need to toast and then I'm done with that. So, I have a bit of time to do other things. So, let me take some bread. Let me actually take two breads here. So, I don't need the dark one for now. So I can take that as the bottom one for one of them like this. So then let's see what else do I need. I need two salmon. I only have one salmon. Yeah, that's like the issue. But let me just uh put some stuff here. Uh let me prepare maybe this one here. Let me put a salmon on here. Um and then yeah, let me just finish that one up like pretty much like almost at least. Then we put a bread on here and a salad like this. These then I'm almost done with the next sandwich here, which is really good. And then the last one here I will use to toast this one like this. So we're also done with that sandwich. So let me put an order token on that one here. So we're also done with that one. And with the free restock action, I do need bread for sure. Yeah, I can't finish this. But actually when we finish this one here, we can get bread back. So instead, what else do I need here? I have ham. I have salad. I need Oh, I need the salmon. But the salmon is over there. I don't really need anything from here. So, let me just take something that I might need later.

Something like the avocado or something, I guess. Yeah, sure. Why not? Okay. And then we continue here. Uh, let me take Oh, let me take all of these back. I almost forgot. Uh, so let me take um some cheese and an egg also. Let me take uh the ham. Put it on here like this. And uh I can I still have enough here to take the salad and also the avocado like that. Okay, not too bad actually. Um and then the last one I will take to use I will use to take this bread here.

So we're done with that bread here as well. The bottom bread doesn't count because we have a top one. So it's it's fine. So we finished also James's order. And now look at this. So first of all, I will put those back. And now since we've uh fulfilled all of those, we just take one of the order tokens, put it on their face. So we know like that customer is done. And as soon as we have only uh like as soon as we have a customer done here, we can take the next order card. Oh man, now I'm messing it up. The next order card and slide it [snorts] here. There we go. Like this. So now we have our two order cards here. So now we also know like some other orders we need to do. Okay, I see. So, also we get a free restock. Of course, I would take all the bread. That's a no-brainer.

Um because we definitely need all of the bread again. Okay, then we take all of the tokens back. Um this like all pretty empty here. So, I will have to do some some restocking in just a moment. All right, so this one is almost done. We just need salmon and the bread. So, let me do a restock in order to get the salmon back. Um, and then I will use one of my tokens here to also get the salmon on here. And then we can put the bread on here to finish that up. Um, but let's do something else first. Let me first um take more bread. But I will not put the one on top here yet. So, let me just finish up a few of these bread thingies here. We don't need the very dark one at the moment. So, let me also put that one down.

Um, and then let's see which ones can we combine. None really. So, let me just start maybe with Yeah, maybe with a cheese. Yeah, maybe we'll start with the cheese and put it on here like this. And then with the last one, I will actually take the last piece of bread I need and finish off this sandwich here. So, let's see. Do we have everything? We have everything even in the right order. So, Maggie is also completely done. That's nice. Okay, so we have one order card completely fulfilled. So, um yeah, we can put all of this in the pantry. We do get a free restock action. Um I think we do need some salmon, right? Uh we are still fine here. So, let me take the salmon. There's only one salmon. Yeah, right. I forgot about that. Uh poor.

What do we do? We could also take the avocado. Let me take the avocado. Okay, so that's fine. Uh, let me take all of these tokens back here. Like that. Okay, so we do need some bread. Um, I will finish that off in just a moment. So, what I will do, I think, is I will put um I will take some bread. I will put one here at the bottom, one here on top. This is for that one here. Um, also we can really remove the order card here as we know we already fulfilled that one. Let me just like remove it for now. Okay. So, what else do we need to do? Let me see. Yeah, let me uh take some avocado here and then let me just do a few few restock actions. So, we will need some salad later on. We need some ham. So, let me take the ham first.

Um then also let me take some salad [snorts] here for another restock action. And then with the last action I will do a toast. So uh we have this one done here. It's all toasted. So we can put that back in our pantry. Of course with the free restock we will need some bread because we don't have any anymore in our on our counter here. Okay. So, let's take all of these back. So, okay. Uh, some bread. So, let me put this one here to put a ham on here. Then, let me take a bread action. Uh, let me put one bread here, one bread here, and one here. I think that is No, actually, but with the middle one. Let's take a darker one because we need that one in just a moment.

Okay. So then let me take a salad here. Put that here. And then let's Are these here? Uh these are the tokens that I still have, right? Yeah. I'm some getting a little bit confused because there's no real way to actually like put them where you need them. So usually you put them at the at the um at the ingredient where you use it, but then again sometimes it get it gets a little bit messy. But that's like kind of how this is. Um, I do need some restock. Let me restock on some salmon here. And then let me do the bread action again to put a piece of bread on here. So this is like the one for Caesar. So that one is done. We have completed that one. It goes back into the pantry. But we need bread for sure. So let me restock with bread again. Uh, there we go. It's only three pieces, but that's better than nothing. Let me take all of these back here. Okay, cool.

So, here we need some salmon. Let's do that. Let's get some salmon on here. Um, and then ah, yeah, let me do a bit of restock for later. So, let me take the egg here. Uh, also I need one more action to get the bread that I need. So, you know what? Let's just restock everything. We might need it later. Who knows? Um, and then let me do another restock. And yeah, I guess let's take salad. Let's see. And with the last action, I'll get some bread. I will put um I will put a darker bread here. And then I'll put the this one right there. So the one for Claire here is also done. So we take an order fulfillment token here. This one is done. we get a free restock action.

Before we do that, since we have completed CLA and there's only one customer left here, we can also h see the next order card. Um, before we know what to restock uh because I still have like a bit of bread here. So, I might not even need that immediately. We need avocado, salad, ham. Actually, I think we have almost everything we need here. So, let me actually do a restock action for the bread for now. I think. Yeah. Uh yeah, I think that's fine. Okay. So, let's take all of these back. And now, let's do the other stuff here. All right. Let me first get some egg on here. Actually, let's put it on this one here.

And then, let me get a ham here. And also a salad. And then I could take some bread. I could finish both of them at the same time. Does that make any sense? Not not really to be honest because I only get one restock action. That wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. So, uh, let me restock and get the avocado back because that's one I still need here. And then let me get a bread, but only one bread. And I will put that on let me let me think on this one here. Yeah. And now I do kind of think like which one I'm finishing. So that is the one for Simone. So let me take this one. Um I get a free restock action. I think I have pretty much everything that I need. No, actually no, I will need some salmon later on. So let me take the salmon. Oh, and to finish this one here.

Oh, I'm fine. I'm fine. I will take the bread next round. Okay, let me take all of these tokens back here. Um, and then let me first get some bread out. I will do a second bread action in just a moment. So, let me put these here like this. And then let me get avocado twice. One here and one there. That's nice. Then let me also get some salad here on that one. Then I will get some salmon on this one. No, that's not not true. No, no, no. We can't do that. We can't do that. We will get to get some bread and put it on here. And then we take another token here to toast that one. So that means this one now is also done for Caesar. So all of his orders are done. So with our free restock action, well, you guessed it, most likely we will take more bread because that's what we need.

Um, let me put that right here. So this order card is also done. Let me just put that aside. And these are the last two ones I have. Actually, quite simple. Now, we can maybe finish that even in one round. Let's see. So, um actually, no, we can't. So, let me do a restock and get some egg. Um but then we have almost everything. So, let me let me see. Let me get some egg. Put it here. Let me get a salmon and put it here. And then we will get some bread. Put one here and one here. So now this round immediately ends. I could now still toast this one, but the round ends immediately. So we will score that one for Kyle. So we have completed Kyle's order. We will also put like the order here at the top. We get a free restock.

Uh, let me just take the bread. But it doesn't really matter because in the next round, we just use an action in order to toast this one here. And with that, we have also completed Simone's um sandwich. We can also turn that one in. And we have completed all of our order cards. There you go. This is how you do a speedrun of Grums, the sandwich filler game. So yeah, that was like very quick. Um, I just wanted to show to you like how quick this game actually goes once you understand how it works. Um, and uh, yeah, so there are like um, ways to increase the difficulty or to make it more exciting. For example, the quirky customers like all of these symbols here, these actually do something that is actually quite interesting because these actually make the game a lot harder. Also, you see like these numbers here, I have now reached nine. And if you take a look at the rule book here, there is a table here. There you go. 6 to 7, 8 to 9, 10 to 11, 12 plus. That's like your ranking. So, at the beginning of the game, you can like take higher numbers in order to have like a higher rank. So, I like took like a medium rank nine. And that's like what I did now to show you the game, but I've also like completed the game and won the game with higher uh higher numbers here because these are like harder. You see here, this five, for example, are like five sandwiches and also like one really large one. the twos you see like these are like less sandwiches and they are smaller and also

like there aren't as many um ingredients that you need several times. So that's like kind of how that works and yeah that's how you play the game. Um has a lot changed to the prototype? Not really. The box is nicer. Um and also there's like I think like the quirky customers maybe something that wasn't in there before. Also the at least the Kickstarter edition. I don't know about retail, but um it came with like this secret ingredient promo card. That's like a um it's like a transparent card that you can put on an ingredient um and it counts like a wild I think. Um that's like one thing that also changed. But apart from that, I don't think that a lot of has changed apart from that. So yeah, this is still a solid game. I like the idea that you can um that you don't have to put them in a specific order.

That means you can like use several ingredients at the same time to kind of fulfill your sandwiches. It has a small caveat because you only have two um two ingredients that you like only two cards per ingredient and there are two ingredients where you only have one. So for these ingredients with like the one where you only have one each, this uh using them to uh put them on different sandwiches at the same time doesn't work of course. So that's like one thing um that u reduces the puzzle factor a little bit because with these ingredients you just can't plan really ahead. Um but that means with these ingredients you need to finish these sandwiches just faster. But it's a very it's a very neat little solo game um that from time to time I also enjoy playing. It is pretty straightforward though. So um there aren't like a lot of like very difficult decisions you have to make because like actually it's like quite simple. You try to fulfill, you need to fulfill one sandwich each round.

And you try to do as many turns, like use as many actions before you fulfill a sandwich. And you should try never to fulfill two sandwiches at the same time because like the free restock action is actually very valuable. And once you know all of that, um, the game is actually quite straightforward, but still it's a nice little solo filler. So, um, if you enjoyed what you saw today, um, you can see if you can find a copy. There may even be a print of play version of that, but I'm not sure. I can't really say. All right, well that concludes my video for Crumbs, the sandwich filler game. Thank you so much for watching and thank you so much for sticking to the very end.
