Coffee Rush Winter is an order fulfillment game in which players compete to manage the ever increasing queue of customers entering their coffee shops. It was designed by Eugene Han and published by Korea Board Games. The game plays two to four players in 30 minutes and is of light complexity. Coffee Rush Winter is a standalone follow-up to the earlier Coffee Rush playing similarly but with rebalanced rules and re-themed for the cozy feel of a hot winter beverage. In Coffee Rush Winter, each player begins with a coffee shop, two or three customers in their queues and a barista on the main board. The aim to gather ingredients in order to fulfill the customers orders.

On your turn, move your meeple up to three spaces orthogonally collecting each ingredient you land on or move through. You can move through other meeples and still claim the ingredients on those spaces. You just can't finish your move on the same space. After your standard move, you could spend a cookie to move further if you wish. After collecting, distribute your ingredients among your coffee mugs immediately.

You can't just hold steam and milk in your bare hands. They have to go straight into a drink.

Your aim is to get the right ingredients into a single cup to fulfill as many orders as you can. This is the key puzzle. Ingredients, once they're mixed, can't be separated. So, getting the right ingredients efficiently requires careful planning ahead on the board. You can choose to discard an ingredient as soon as you've taken it, never mixing it. But, once you have chosen to put something into a cup, the only way to get rid of it is to either serve it or to pour out and discard the entire mixture. Finish your turn by completing as many orders as you can.

Keep those customers happy.

Make sure the ingredients in the cups match the requirements, and then discard the ingredients, and then flip the cards into your likes pile as positive reviews. For the more difficult specialty menu orders, you also gain a bonus cookie as reward. Your unserved customers advance in your queue, and if this causes any to fall off the bottom of your board, then they are flipped over into your dislikes pile. This will be worth a negative point, but grants you a free cookie.

Finally, comes the coffee rush.

That is the rush of new customers in search of warmth and caffeine. Each of the orders that you complete is replaced from the deck, not in your own queue, but in the queues of the next two players in turn order. That means that as the game goes on, players will collect roughly twice as many new orders as they complete, making for an ever-escalating pace as players try to serve customers efficiently. To handle the rush, players can gain upgrades, cashing in three like cards to flip an upgrade tile. These can provide flexibilities like moving diagonally or efficiencies like gaining double resources from certain spaces.

Once the order deck is empty or any one player has five dislikes, then the game end is triggered. Players score two points for each like, five points for each upgrade, and lose one point for each dislike, and the player with the highest score wins.

Like its predecessor, Coffee Rush Winter is a quick-playing order fulfillment game which suits all ages.

And rewards forward planning. The components have incredible table presence with realistic ingredient tokens including coffee beans, chocolate, steam, and tea. As well as these winter mugs in which players will mix their brews. While the two shallow ingredient trays in Coffee Rush Winter, rather than the deep ones from the base game, makes for markedly improved usability around a big table during play. A tweak to the original game's scoring improves the reward for completing orders and reduces the penalty for missing them. While there are new options for variable setup including two new upgrade tiles which provide more different ways to play.

And then the main board chaos variant where you can use these inset tiles to randomize the placement of the basic ingredients around the board. There's also variants for two players and simplified junior barista mode to make this coffee shop simulation a fun time for all types of players.
