Knights of the Hound Table Board Game - Quick How to Play

today we'll be showing you a quick how to play or overview of knights of the hound table so hopefully you can get a flavor for this game coming up [Music] hi it's taryn and stella from eagle university we do a lot of how to plays live play through videos and more so if you're new here consider subscribing and hit the bell to be notified when we post new videos now let's get to the table knights of the hound table is a battle deck building game in which teams of hounds fight for supremacy it was designed by kenny chapman cole jarvis damian roberts and stephen krauss illustrated with cute amusing canine characters by claudia dillard and published by we ride games the game plays two players with variants for three and four in 30 minutes and is of light to medium complexity in the basic two-player knights of the hound table players will lead their teams of hounds into battle attempting to drain their opponent of 30 life points or cause five of the opposing hounds to faint to begin the game players draft 12 hounds from the starting deck of 24 then draw a hand of three each round the players will secretly choose which one of their hounds will attack placing it on the left which will defend placing it on the right and which will resolve its text ability placed in the middle then reveal the players resolve the text abilities of the two hounds in the middle in power order and then resolve each battle where the attacker's power exceeds the defenders then the defender loses life points equal to the difference and the attacker earns treats in the same amount many abilities allow players to bolster exchange or otherwise alter the attacking or defending powers in that round's battle giving many different tactical options after the battles players have the opportunity to spend treats in order to buy powerful heroes from the market heroes have higher powers and stronger abilities and if they attack and defeat a starting hound in battle then that starting hound faints and is out of the game the game ends when one player has run out of life points or had five starting hounds faint and at that point the other player has won the game knights of the hound table utilizes light deck building and distinguishes itself by always forcing the player to use every card in hand for one of three purposes this coupled with the game's simultaneous action selection leads to great tactical decision making and tension the game escalates in pace quickly as players earn heroes making the early game as important if not more important than the end game the basic battle plays two players but with a variant the game can also play three or four at these higher player counts players draft heroes into their starting decks and each round players will still allocate their three cards simultaneously but then in turn order will choose their opponent before revealing there are no life points and a player is eliminated once three of their starting hounds have fainted also available is the sails and tails expansion which introduces new hounds the corgis and the huskies and banner cards in red blue and green each round a random banner card is drawn and hounds of the matching colour will get a bonus to their attack defense or treats adding a new layer to the strategy and that's quick how to play of knights of the hound table we hope that you enjoy the video when we filmed this video knights of the hound table is shortly going to kickstarter and we will put a link in the description below when it's live so you can check it out and do note that the components and rules in this video are prototypes and so everything you see here is not final if you enjoy this video please help us by hitting that like button subscribe to us and you can also hit the bell in the corner to do so and hit the bell icon so you'll be notified of our new videos you can also follow me on instagram for my board games journey and if you have any questions comments or feedback please leave them in the comment section below until next time
