Piri Piri Summoners - How to Play Board Game
in the valley that is blessed by the spirits we are Summoners compete to try to born with the spirits in Pur Summoners and today we'll be teaching you how to play Peri Summoners game designed by Louis Su and Emy aun and published by MOA and hello everyone it's Stella and Tyrant here from Maple University all right let's get to the classroom in Peri per Summoners players are Summoners represented by these wooden figures racing to be the first to sumon their Spirit cards to the valley players will use playing cards which they draw from the common deck or purchase from the common market trying to make patterns which will welcome their spirits and bring them closer to Victory while at the same time doing what they can to flank bump and take Mana from their opponents the game will play until one player has played all of their Spirits or until no one can play anymore in which case the game is decided on points from Spirits and manner to set up each player chooses one of the four wooden sculptures to represent them for the game these are cibara Tanuki Japanese hair and wild boar you begin with your wooden sculpture alongside eight wooden manac coins any coins not distributed to players during setup are returned to the Box they will not be used in the game the game comes with what is in effect a deck of 54 standard playing cards a to King in four suits with two jokers split the Cards into two decks the Jacks queens and kings are called Spirit cards and they'll comprise the first Deck The Jokers Aces and all of the number cards which are called element cards comprise the second deck and this is collectively known as the playing card deck shuffle each deck face down with the spirit cards deal three cards secretly to each player and then return the rest unseen to the box your spirit cards are the cards you'll be trying to play onto the table during the game to win for the playing cards deal a hand of four cards face down to each player then place the deck in a common area and lay out a face up Market of five cards finally deal one card face up into the center of the table this is the beginning of the common play area choose a first player and you're now ready to play Peri Summoners is played in turns starting from the first player and going clockwise around the table until the end of the game is reached each turn involves gaining one card from the deck or Market using one card either to discard it or play it into the general field and then optionally place in spirit cards if the conditions on the board allow it as you take your turns your wooden sculpture will follow the cards you play on the board when done with these steps play will pass to the next player clockwise so let's have a look at the three ways you can take the compulsory action on your turn for these we're considering only your hand deck and Market of playing cards not your spirit cards you have three different options the first is to cycle playing cards through your hand first discard any one playing card from your hand returning it to the bottom of the main deck then replace it with the top card of the main deck you'll take no other action and your wooden sculpture whether it's in your supply or on a central playing card remains where it is your second option is to draw and play a playing card first draw the top card from the deck to your hand then play any one card from your hand into a legal place on the board move your wooden sculpture to the card you just placed and then your turn is over your third option is to purchase a face up card from the market spend one Mana returning it to the supply it is now out of the game choose any one face up card adding it to your hand and replace that card from the top of the deck then then as was the case for the previous option play any one card from your hand into a legal place on the table and move your sculpture to that card so let's take a look at card placement restrictions the first and simplest restriction is that you cannot place a card so that it is not adjacent to any other card it must always touch at least one other card even if just diagonally note this applies only when the card is placed cards could later to be removed meaning that at that point cards won't be touching when playing an element card remember that's any numbered card from 2 to 10 you may always place the card diagonally adjacent to other cards without restriction so this this this this or this would all be legal for any element card however to place a card orthogonally adjacent to any previously placed cards you must check its suit and number on the bottom of every card you'll see an icon like this and this shows you the order of priorities for the four different suits this is a circular priority here you can see that blue overlaps red and so blue is a stronger suit than red red overlaps green so red is stronger than green green is stronger than yellow and yellow is stronger than blue suits which do not overlap like green and blue are considered neutral to each other so to play a card orthogonally you'll first check the suit if the suit of the card you're playing is stronger or neutral to the one it's adjacent to then you may place it this could legally be placed here and this blue card could be placed here because it's neutral to Green as well as to itself however if the card you're placing is of the weakest suit you must now check the numbers if the card you're playing is of the higher number then it's legal to place if it's equal or lower it's illegal as such this placement here is not legal the six is not large enough to beat the 10 likewise this placement is illegal the red eight is of the right suit to beat the Green 10 but is of the weakest suit and lower number so can't beat the blue nine this placement on the other hand is legal because the red eight Beats the blue too even though it's of the weakest suit because it's the higher number for these purposes Aces and spirit cards once they're on the table are considered higher than any of the numbered element cards since red is the weaker suit than blue there is no place adjacent to any of these cards where a numbered red card could be placed but remember that numbered element cards may be placed diagonally without restriction when placing a joker it's considered to have wild color and no number so you can simply declare that this matches a suit which may legally be placed in any location once it's already on the board other players May treat it as any color of their choice as well effectively giving you the flexibility to place any card next to it finally Aces have a special ability making them stronger than the other playing cards in terms of placement it's considered a high number than any of the element cards but weaker than any Spirit cards on the board which means they may be placed orthogonally adjacent to any card except for a spirit card in its stronger suit you may also play an ace on top of any previously placed card except a spirit card once it's in play and when you do this the card you replace Leaves play and goes to the bottom of the draw deck if you play an ace onto a card and another player's sculpture is currently on that card then you displace that sculpture as well as the card you played on after putting your own sculpture on the newly placed card as you'd always do the displac player retrieves their sculpture returning it to their supply to be placed next turn and if possible must pay one Mana to the player who displaced them if your play results in a card being surrounded either above and below or left and right by cards of its stronger suit then that card is considered flanked if it's a playing card remove that card from play and return it to the bottom of the main deck if this causes another player's sculpture to be displaced treat this the same as if you'd played an ace that is it returns to the player's Supply and the displacer steals one Mana from the displaced if able Spirit cards once they're on the table can be involved in flanking and the spirit cards themselves may also be flanked however if the latter happens the card is not removed from the table but any wooden sculptures on it are with the exchange of Mana occurring as usual Jokers can provide great flexibility when flanking but are likewise in their own right relatively easy to flank one of the game's primary aims is to play Spirit cards onto the table the Jacks are the easiest to do followed by the Queens than the Kings although you don't have to place them in that order a jack may be summoned in any location where it is flanked either on left and right or top and bottom by playing cards of the same suit the summoning location can be empty or it can contain another playing C so if this blue card were played here the location of the yellow eight becomes a valid place to summon a blue Jack Spirits do not need to be played on your turn if you ever see a situation where you can play a spirit you're allowed to do it if multiple players want to play Spirits at the same time whoever is next in turn order starting from the current player is the one who gets to play the spirit to play a spirit place the card in into the location move your sculpture there pay two of your Mana back to the Box you must have at least two Mana to be allowed to take this action and consume those two surrounding cards as usual returning them to the bottom of the main draw deck if you summon on a space which already has a card then the card that you cover is consumed as well and if you consume a card which has another player sculpture on it then just like if you place an ace or flank that sculpture you return that sculpture to the player and steal one Mana from that player The Manor is stolen after the cost of the action is paid as usual Jokers provide suit flexibility with these spaces being valid for yellow or red Jacks playing a queen Works in a similar way it still cost you two Mana but you must find a location with three adjacent cards of the the matching suit Queens are stronger than jacks on the board and so unlike Jacks where you may only use and consume playing cards Queens are also allowed to use and consume Jacks right now for two Mana a blue Queen could be placed here consuming these three cards or could be placed over this Joker consuming these four cards including this Jack the yellow Queen could be placed here consuming these four cards and a green Queen could be placed here over this blue Jack to consume these four cards rules for placing and displacing the sculptures are unchanged from the Jacks finally kings are another one step up in difficulty it will still cost you the two Mana to play but now you need a location which is surrounded on all four sides by cards of the matching suit this can include both Jacks and queens all us ual rules for displacing sculptures and consuming cards apply if at any point you've played all three of your spirit cards onto the table whether they're still there or not you immediately win the game however it is entirely possible that the game never reaches that point remember each player begins with eight mana and will need at least six to play all of their Spirits if people keep stealing your Mana by display placing your sculpture then you may not have enough to play your final spirit and if players keep spending Mana to buy cards from the market then it may reach the point where nobody can complete their Spirits remember there is no way for new Mana to enter the game once it's been spent if you reach the point where everyone passes and nobody has any more actions they wish to do then you will instead determine the winner based on points gain one point for each of your manner gain two points for each Jack you've played Four Points for each Queen and six points for each King the final copy of the game will have specific two four and six point wooden coins which you take as you summon the cards this is where a player who has randomly dealt a more difficult hand of cards to complete can still win the game by completing some of it and having more points also remember each of these cards did cost you two mana and therefore two points to play the net points for playing a Jack is actually zero but nevertheless count up your points one 2 four and six and the player with the highest score wins if tied Victory is shared and that's how to play per per Summoners we are using a prototype copy of the game so the rules and components may not be final and do check out the project page for the game we'll put a link to that in the description below and thanks so much for watching your like and comments are much appreciated subscribe to see what's coming and let us know what games you've been playing have a great day bye
