What does that even mean, Bowers' Game Corner?

Ahoy there, you dude. Back again today for more Gen Con of Dan's Explosion blog coverage here live at Gen Con 2016 with my good friend Adam.

Yep.

Thanks to part two on e-road.com. We do some of the best Kickstarter services on the planet. Seriously, click on the link below. You'll be like, "Wow, they work with all these people." And you'll be like, "What do they sponsor you for?" And they'll be like, "Shut your mouth." But tell them you clicked on the link. Right now, I'm very excited to be checking out uh Swing Shot Tower from Mattel. This is for two to six players, ages eight plus. There's probably some B-roll right here of us playing it, so you can see. But the basic gist is you're going to assemble the tower, and then there's like this string with a cool little metal thing on it. Think of it like a tetherball, but it's like a metal big red ring, and you're just going to chuck the metal ring, and it's going to go wee, and it's going to wrap around the tower, and hopefully it's going to land on a couple of these little pokey-out things if your circle gets on the thing. Oh, that peg.

Peg.

It's under this, then you're going to unscrew the peg, and then that's a point, and then the other person goes. And if you don't get your little circle on the peg, then the other person gets to go, and it is pretty darn fun. But that's Burning Wheel. What do you think about this one, Adam?

Yeah. Uh I enjoyed it. I mean, it's uh you know, one of those just physical games that is barely a game.

I guess the first thing we should focus on is that if you've seen this game, you probably inherently know if you would like it or not. Is it component-wise something that felt like it was going to withstand the test of time? Or at least

Yeah, I think it'll it'll last a good long while.

I would agree as well. It felt like it was solidly built. You could play with it in the box. You could take it out of the box. The assembly was pretty simple to assemble, disassemble.

Yeah.

The pegs felt pretty solid. And the core mechanism is very satisfying.

Yeah, what it felt like was somebody was at a bar and saw some drunk people playing this in a massive style and was like, I can make that a a miniature game.

I think it feels like a carnival game somewhat. And then instead of having to pay like $6 for some carnival screw you over, you can just do it at home. I think inherently though, most people are just going to want a larger version of this. So, Mattel, I get get on that. I seriously I think if you made this like 4 ft tall, people would go absolutely nuts over this. I'm surprised it hasn't been on Alibaba right now.

Uh yeah, I legitimately would like to make one. It feels like it could potentially just be one of those lawn games you see becoming really popular in like 20 to 30 years.

Oh, sure.

This game itself, I also expect the same thing. Like I I feel like this could be in like receptionist waiting room offices.

Oh, yeah.

Like it's just it's just such a naturally fun like just

Yeah, so

And naturally fun like a weight on a string. And then it's extra satisfying if you go extra hard so that it wraps all the way around the top cuz then it goes back around the other way and you you can still get it then, too.

And a very like satisfying like even

Yes, it is a very peaceful, tranquil game. If it looks like it might be your cup of tea, I'm telling you I think it probably is.

That is Swing Shot Tower from Mattel. Check it out. It's probably

played down below. Probably the Board Game Geek, maybe to somewhere else. If it's somewhere else, it's questionable. Don't click on it unless it's on your dot com. If you enjoyed the content, you should click on the subscribe button down below. And in the comments below, let me know. If you could have a magical lamp, it's a magical lamp, but it's a regular lamp. It's just a regular lamp. What's this magical lamp going to do? Not too magical. If it's too magical, you immediately lose.

It's not a genie lamp.

No, it's just like a lamp. Like it's a it's it's not a nice lamp either. It's just magical and it has some sort of magic power, but if it's too magic for my opinion, like you're you lose.

I mean, I guess we'll just do the the standard Dungeons & Dragons things where it gives me light but nobody else.

That's not too magical. I'll allow it. I would make it so that it is also a drinking fountain. Pretty cool, not too magical.

Not too magical.

Let me know in the comments below what you want for your not too magical fountain and I'll be sure to let you know if that is the appropriate amount of magical. And as always, thanks for stopping
