Playthrough 1 | Mech Bunny (Solo Game of the Month)
Transcript
One range is also good, but if I like work with a lot of movement, I think I'm fine. So, I will take this one. And sleeve that in here. I love that mechanism.
Hey everyone, this is I got today. I'm happy to present to you Mac Bunny and play through one of these Neries here. This is Gabe Barrett. Gabe is the one doing the solo game of the month series. Not all of these games are actually games that he designed, but this is like a series just for solo gamers, right? And I own almost all games in this series. Not quite all of them, but almost. And I have brought two or three to the channel already. And today I want to show you Mac Bunny, at least part of it. This has like several runs, so several like small, let's say colon campaigns, right? It's like a rogue-like game, so but I call them campaigns now. They're called runs. And each of them has like four or five scenarios, and I'm going to play through one of them.
Through through one of them to like show you how this game works. All right. Before we get started, as usual, grab yourself a cup of tea and let's do this. Oh, that was quite full, actually. But that is no problem. There we go. Okay, so what is the game about? Well, this game is like a solo deck construction game. A rogue-like game where you control a bunny in a mech suit sent to an alien planet crawling with like hostile monsters. You'll be moving between locations, fighting enemies with the cards in your hand. You're managing your energy and the heat, and you're upgrading your deck as you go, trying to finish the mission before your mech overheats or your ship gets taken out by the enemies. So, let's get into it. Um I will do it like this today. I will set the game up in a moment, then I will show you how the game plays. Just a small overview, but the main rules I will show you like while playing. That's like the format that I usually like the most. All right, so let me just quickly set up the game.
All right, and with that, I should have set up the game in its entirety. Okay, there's a lot going on here, um but I will uh guide you through all of that um in just a moment. Um yeah, I tried to put it as compact as possible, so um you can just see as much as possible of um but um that took me a little while to like figure out how to better arrange it because in my test place for this video, I had arranged it a little bit differently, but I think that works fine. All right, let me just uh guide you through what you see here. So, here on the left, we have the planet we're trying to explore. Um there is like not only the rulebook, but you also have like the scenario book here, and this has like several runs. There's like the first contract, like tutorial mission, um that I've already played, of course, and then you have like different runs.
We will do the explore run. Um it's time to see what you can learn about this new planet. That one is like easy difficulty, and you see like explore one, explore two, explore three, and I think there should be a fourth one. No, it's just three. Uh three explores, and then we have a different one, the entangled run we have with medium. You see like entangled one, two, and three. That's only it's always three scenarios. And then we have the infiltrate run on hard, and we also have escape run deadly. They're different runs. Uh you could like also translate them as like something like campaigns. And um we will play through one of those um and through the first scenario, searching for intel. You find your plasma shield that fell from the ship when landing. Um so, uh what you see here is on the left, we have the planet. Um we have like different tiles here. These are spawn tiles. That means like every round monsters spawn here. Then we have the planet tiles. Um, these are mainly just like for setting the scene, but also like for where where more monsters can spawn with the location deck here. Oops.
We will get to that a little bit later. Here we have like the uh draw pile of the monsters. Below that we have three of these search tokens. We need to find all of those in order to get closer to um winning the scenario. Um, then here we have the spawn card. That means like each round at each spawn tile one monster will will spawn plus one. And we will determine that with the location deck where it will spawn. I will get to that later. Then we have heat cards here. Heat cards we get whenever we receive damage. You see like our little miniature here on uh on the tile of the ship here, on the double tile here. Um, and whenever we receive damage from an enemy, then we need to take one heat card and put in our discard pile. These are just dead cards. They mostly don't do anything. There are cards, I don't have any of those at the moment, but there are cards that demand you discard one of those, right? So if you force me to get those.
Um, and uh but otherwise they just clog up your deck. And then here we have the garage. This is like where we can get our upgrades because that's the special thing about this game. Um, when we get an upgrade we can take such a card and we slot it in here. And since it's transparent, hope you can see it well enough on screen, we like upgrade our cards with that, right? So we don't get any new cards into our deck, but we just upgrade the ones that we have. Um, and then uh here on the right we have our batteries. This is just like how many actions we can do during your turn. Um, we can also like we usually do three, but we can do a fourth one, but that one costs one heat, right? So we also have to take one heat in our discard pile. Then here there's our XP die. Whenever it reaches six and then wraps over to one, um then we can take one of these upgrades and upgrade.
And these are so our deck, we have uh the 12 cards in our deck. We had 13 because we start the game with 12, but uh before the first scenario we unlock one card. Um so I had to like choose 12 of these 13. Uh I discarded this one here. Um that one just cost a little bit more heat and isn't as good as some others I find, so that's why I uh kept that out. And these are the the four cards we draw at the beginning of each turn. This is like what you see here. So, what is this game about? Well, we are trying to explore this planet and uh we have the objective of uh searching for intel on the new planet and we have to fight our way through hostile creatures in order to find it. Um whenever we have these three resource uh search tokens, when we have collected those and we have um returned to our ship and cleared the ship of any monsters, then we win. Um even if it's like in the middle of the turn, we win immediately, right? We don't like play the entire turn. We lose if one of two things happen. Either we have to draw a heat card from the supply here and they are none.
Um or if
[snorts]
um our ship receives two damage. So, you see you may see these two uh these two squares here. And whenever the ship receives damage, you put like one damage cube on here and that can happen second time. And the third time the ship would then take damage, we lose. Um so, we definitely want the monsters not to attack the ship, which they will try to do. This is our This is like our setup. This is our objective. And now I would suggest we just start playing. The first round will take a little bit longer, but uh because I will be talking about how the game works, but you can also use timestamps um in the description, like down there, at the bottom here, in order to uh jump to whatever part interests you the most. All right. So, um a round structure always goes like my turn, monster turn, right? So, first of all, we do my turn. We draw four mech bunny cards. I've already done that. Um whenever our draw deck is empty, when we have to draw something, then we shuffle the discard pile, like all the cards that we've discarded, I will get to that a little bit later, and we increase the spawn tracker here by one. That means like more monsters spawn at the end of each round. By the way, another loss condition I forgot, if you get to the very last square here, you also lose.
You just take too much time. So, that's like after like 10 rounds or something. Um, but I've never even gotten close to that yet. So, now we can use our energy to do things. Um, energy we use for two things. Either we spend one energy to move one um, adjacency here works um, uh, for like locations, but not diagonal. So, if I want to move one adjacent, adjacent, I can only go here. And from here, if I go one adjacent, I can go up, I can go here to the right, or I can go down. If I were here, I could go up, I could go here to the left, and down, right? That's like how adjacency works here. It's like different than in other games, right? But, these uh, these locations are connected like that. Um, either that, or I can play a card. You see here in the left on the left, um, that it costs like one energy to play a card, except that one here. That one is like crossed out, that doesn't cost anything, which is nice.
Um, so, let's just see what we can do. So, at the moment, all we can do is defeat monsters, right? Because the search tokens are not on the on the planet yet. We will find the first search token whenever we, um, defeat all the monsters here, right? That would take like three to two to three turns, I would say, about. So, let's just start like, uh, getting some monsters down, because like whenever we defeat a monster, we also get XP. We get as much experience as they have health. So, that's how we want to like try to defeat them as soon as possible. So, um, I have nothing to move here, right? Except if I like defeat someone. Uh, I will show that to you in just a moment. So, let me just, uh, spend two energy in order to move two. I will move one up here. And then I will move Hmm, where do I move? I think I will move right here, like this.
So, that's like uh what I spent two energy on. And then uh now we can start spending cards. So, what I would first do is um spend this card here, right? Um that means now I need to pay one energy, so I turn another energy over here. And now this card tells me several things. First of all, um I do one damage. That's what the shield uh icon with the one tells me. One damage. I can do that two like in a range of two. Range of zero means right here where I am. Range of two means I could now uh damage damage where I am. I could also go up. I could also damage this guy over there. And I could also damage that guy over there, right? This is like all that I could uh damage. Um and then one energy, I already told you that. And then optionally I can also like resolve whatever's down here.
Um these have like usually have like several costs, not always, but sometimes they cost something. Here, for example, um if I kill an enemy, if I defeat an enemy with this card here, then I can also move one. If I defeat an enemy with this card, then I can repeat this card, which is like really good. This is like really really good. Um and then I also have um this one here that says like if I spend one energy, I can do that effect, right? So, quite interesting actually. And this one I already told you. So, now I only have one energy left. Um I want to spend like I wanted like do this card here. Um but then again I could also do this one instead, right? I could also do that one instead, but I think I will do that one. So, um one damage, uh range of two.
Um one damage, range of two. That means I could um defeat that one or that one. Lost health does not carry over to the next round. So, I need to defeat one enemy within round within a turn in order to defeat that enemy, right? I can do that with several cards, but I cannot split my damage. There are cards that let me split damage, but I have none of those here yet. Um this one only moves one next round. That one is not that dangerous, but that one is quite dangerous, right? Because that one moves two. It gets like very close very quickly and also it can jump. Um jumping means that you just like skip one location and uh go further there. So, that is pretty dangerous. So, one health. Perfect. So, I will use that one to do one damage. Uh two far, that's fine. Like do with the range of two. That's fine. So, I can defeat this one here. That means I discard my card. I put it aside. You will not see my discard pile. I will just put it off screen.
And then um I have defeated this one here. So, now I gain one experience. That means I raise my die to two. And this one is just discarded. I will just have a discard pile up here for the monsters. Whenever that um stack is empty, we will also like reshuffle our discard pile there. All right. So, I defeated that one. And what I can now do is now I can move one because I defeated an enemy with this card. And I will move Ooh, where will I move? I think I will move over here. Like this. I think that is not too bad. Okay. Um So, and now I do have one energy left. I think I will use that one. Um what I will do is I will now Ooh, actually Yeah, okay, that's fine. I think I will use Which one will I use? It doesn't really matter which one of these two I use. I think I will use this one here.
This one costs me one energy again, okay? So, I will spend that energy, but now I gain one heat. So, I take one card from the supply and put it on my discard pile as well, right? Put it right here. Um and this card now allows me to do two damage um within a range of zero. So, right here, two damage. That's two health that the enemy has. So, I can defeat that enemy. That's great. Um, so I receive two XP. Uh There we go. I'm almost I am I can almost level up soon. And since I've defeated that one, I can also move one. So, I think I will move back one here, like that. For now. I think that's a good idea for now. Is it? I guess, because that enemy will now come here. I will get to that in just a moment, and then I'm already here.
That's fine. Okay. So, um This is all the energy that I could spend, right? So, that is like the end of my phase of my of the of my turn. And now I do the cooling down phase, the end of my turn. That means first of all, all my unplayed um mech mech bunny cards go to the discard pile. So, just imagine the discard pile here on the right. I will now draw new cards now. I will do that at the beginning of my next turn, which is like a little bit different than other uh deck building or deck construction games. And also, if I had any heat cards in my hand here still, I would not discard them to the discard pile, but I actually discard them back to the supply. That's important. That's like the way you manage your heat, right? So, there are still five cards in here in the supply. So, I'm still fine with like having to draw five cards, right? As long as I like return some at some point again, I'm fine again. That's the end of my turn. Now, for the monster turn, there are always three phases in the monster turn. First of all, the monsters attack.
So, um monsters always attack if they're in the same location as the mech bunny or the ship um or if they um if they have range. If they have the specific range there. So, this one for example has a range of zero um and does one damage. But, range of zero there is nothing. Uh there's neither the mech bunny nor the ship. So, now we go to the second phase, because there are no other monsters. The second main phase is move. So, if a monster is not engaged with the mech bunny or with the ship, which is uh true for that monster here, because it couldn't attack anyone, then it moves. It moves as much as it says here on the left for the movement icon, and it will always move um to the shortest path path possible to the ship. So, it will move over here. And how we how we uh And how we show that a monster is at a specific location, you just take the hex tile, you put it to the hex tile of the location, right? It doesn't matter where I put it. If I put it here or there or there there there, it doesn't matter. It just needs to be connected, right? And I should not uh do it like this, right?
That it's between both locations that I don't know like where this monster is. This monster is here at this location. That's the second phase, and the third phase is the monster spawning. That means now we spawn monsters at all uh locations with spawn tiles, which are these tentacle-like things here. So, um we start like from the top, and then we go left and down. So, we will spawn one monster here. That is a flyer, I think it's called. Then we spawn one here. That is a Is it a digger? No, it's not a digger. I'm not quite sure how they are called, all of them. And then one of them we will spawn right here. That is a digger. Yeah. Like that. These are very dangerous here. That's why I wanted to defeat it immediately, because they have like this uh root symbol here. And that means when I'm at the location, I cannot leave anymore, except if I jump. This specific card let me jump.
So, now we check our spawn tracker. We have a one there. That means we turn over one location card. This one here, right? And now we check the first uh the number one here, which is uh this tile over here where I am at. And this tile where we spawn another monster. So, um I actually have two monsters on my tail right now. Okay, that's definitely a little bit dangerous. Okay. Um if we had to spawn even more monsters here because of the tracker, then we go first one, then two, then three, and then four. There can never be four additional monsters uh more than four additional monsters here. All right, that was the end of the turn and now it's my turn again. And [clears throat] I start my turn again by drawing four cards. Why is it important that I draw them at the beginning of the turn not at the end of the last one? Well, the reason for that is as soon as I have to I have to shuffle my discard because I can't draw enough cards, then the spawn tracker cube advances one spot. So, what I said like at the beginning with like we have only like 10 turns or something is of course not true, right? We have like many more turns and before we would lose here, but of course the game is still gets like more difficult the more monsters spawn, right? So, we need to get rid of them as soon as we can.
Um okay, so let's see what we have here. We have one card that doesn't cost anything. This is nice one because if it's like the top discard uh top card in the discard pile, then we can ignore one attack. That is really really good. Okay, so these two will both attack me this turn. Um this one has a range of one. It will also attack me. These two will not attack me, right? So, I should try to get rid of these two of these three here if possible. So, let's see what we can do. These have both one health. So, I can definitely get rid of one of them, but if I do that, I can move once. So, I don't want to play this first, right? Um this one also does one damage and this one as well. But this one needs to needs to be the top discard. So, I don't really want to play that now just in case I do get attacked, right? So, let me see.
I think what makes sense to Well, actually I can also move here. Right? Oh, this one is very nice as well actually. This one is very very nice. So, I might take this one. This one is the chain symbol. The chain symbol means that I can distribute the attack power between different enemies, right? That means I could now take this card use this card here. By the way, I forgot to turn this over last at the end of the last round. Um what I could do now is I could actually do two attack um on both of these enemies. And they're both gone immediately, right? And I did that with only one card. That is pretty good. I think that's the best thing to do right now. So, but then again Yeah, I think that's a good idea. But I actually have even a better idea because I have a range of one here. Let me do a little bit differently. Let me Let's play this card here, right? So, um let me just pull it up so I know that I'm playing it. It only cost me one energy. Okay, that's fine.
Um and then uh in up up to a range of one I can deal two damage. I would deal one damage to this guy here, which is one experience. And then I will do another damage to this one here, right? So, this one only has one health left. So, I'm just going to take one of these cubes and say it has one damage. Um okay, that was that card. Um and then I will use this one here. This one also cost me one energy. That's fine. I will do one damage to this guy here. So, this one is defeated as well. I will gain one experience. And now since I defeated that one with this card, I can move one. So, I will move over here. Okay, so this one is discarded as well.
Um and now I still have these two cards left. Okay. So, what would make sense now? Um Yeah, it would make sense to take this card here. Actually, uh this one top discard. No, we don't want that. So, I'm going to um I'm going to do play take this one here. Um this one does one damage as well. Cost me one energy. One damage to this guy. It already has one This this guy already has like one damage, right? So, the second damage point would then um defeat it. That's two experience, so we go up to one. And then we would go up to two. So, and now we do a short interruption because I've now leveled up, right? Um I need to discard this card now.
So, let me discard which one did I use? This one here, right? So, let me discard that one. Um I can still move one. So, I will do that immediately. I will just move uh to that guy over there. Um and now um since I um since the die the experience die wrapped um to one from six, I can take one of these three cards and add it to any card currently in my hand. If I had no cards in my hand, I could just take the upgrade and then add it to a card next round. Um so, I will add a card to this one here. I don't want to have this one because this one is not bad. Like whenever I defeat one with this card, I can move two, but I would like uh I would cover this effect here, right? Because you can see this one would cover that one. Um it is already free, so that one doesn't do anything either, but I could take this one here.
This one says um that I can draw a card, right? So, whenever I play this card here, Oh. Whenever I play this card now, um it doesn't cost me anything. I can do one damage and I can draw a card, and if it's the top discard, I can even ignore one attack. Actually, that is not a very good idea because then this one cannot be the top discard anymore if I draw one card, right? So, I don't think I will do that. Give me just a moment. I will just reverse a minimal thing of my last tour of my last thing that I did. I just used this card here, right? Defeated this one here, right? But I think instead I would have used this card, right? So, I could have not moved. Sorry about that. I would have used that card, which also does one damage, but without any energy.
And now I would be able to upgrade. I'm going to upgrade this one here instead. So, drawing another card is good. Moving two after a kill is like really good. But having that for free, I think is even better. Having that one for free would be really good. So, you know what? I will take this one and upgrade like this here. Like that. Okay. So, and now we rush the garage immediately from the pile. Oh, that one does one damage. That would be good for this card here that has zero damage at the moment. Um so, and now I still have energy left. So, I don't need to use that one for this card here. Now it's free, right? Um so, I will use one energy to move here. And then I will play this one for free um in order to do one damage, which is enough to defeat that one, which gains me one XP.
And also um I can now move one again. So, I will just move one back here, I think. Like that. I think that works. Sorry for the slightly messy turn, but that actually worked quite well. Okay, very nice. And now it's the monster's turn again, right? So, they attack. This one can't can't attack because there's nothing there. So, it um moves one down here to the next location towards the ship. And that's it. Now we spawn again. We spawn one here. We spawn one there. Um oh, that's a flying one. And we also spawn one here like that. And then now we see that these are revealed, right? And this like just specific to this one scenario that we are playing here right now.
Um like whenever this one is now visible, we take one of these search tokens and we put it um on any location um with a spawn tile. It's my choice. So, I will put it of course here where I am at the moment. Um that definitely makes sense. Um and then we just reshuffle all of these. Let me just give them a quick shuffle. Do it like this. And then give them a cut even if they're not cards. [clears throat] Put them back on top here. And the second time these are revealed, we put them on the other two locations. Um and if you remember correctly, um we um if we have like collected all of those all three of those, we have returned to our ship and cleared the ship of any enemies, then we win the game. So, now we spawn another one as you can see here. He spawns tracker, right? We spawn that one where the fountain is down there. Ooh, that is dangerous.
That is right next to the ship. And oh, it even has a range of one. So, it could damage the tip ship this round. So, we need to get there and defeat it, for sure. Okay, interesting. That's going to be rough. All righty. Then it's back to my turn. I draw four cards, which I can do. I have just these four cards. So, next round, this uh tracker here advances. Okay, so let's see what we can do. We definitely need to go down here, defeat that one. Oh, we have a range Do we have a range of two? No, we don't. We need higher ranges. Um Uh this is like a range of one. I said a damage of one. That's That's not true, but you can see like there will be a range of three at some point. Maybe we can get to that at some point. Okay, so let's see. This one can also move two.
It's not but it's not that it's not it's not as um dangerous here. One thing is, since we're at the location with the icon, we can like immediately just collect it, right? So, I will just put it right here as one of the collected tokens, one of three. Okay, good. So, now let me think what we can do. Uh here with this one we can move two. That wouldn't be too bad, right? I think I will use this one here. That costs me Oh, I always forget to replenish these. Uh that costs me one battery, one energy. I will spend that one. Um I can do one damage. I will do the damage to that guy over here, which grants me one XP. Um and then I can move two. So, I will move two down here because we need to get rid of that guy. That one is very dangerous. So, let me um remove that one, discard that.
Okay, so we just needed we need to do two damage here. So we need to use two cards. But then again, we could also use this one here. I think that one is not too bad. Let's use this one. Although it Yeah, okay, let's see. Let's see. I will use this one here. That cost me one energy. I will do one damage to the guy over here or over there, but I will do it to that one here. Right here. Like this. And now I can spend one heat, which I will do. I will take in order to do an additional damage. This one is actually now defeated. That grants me two XP. I'm up to six. One more and I can upgrade a card again. That's great. Um and now since I defeated that enemy, I could draw a card. But if I draw a card, I advance the cube there. And I don't think I want to do that yet. So I think I will not draw a card. I don't have that much energy anyway, right? So I will just discard that one. That's fine.
So um but I don't have any movement anymore. But I still would like to defeat another one. This one for example here, right? Um Yeah, I need to defeat as many as possible. So I will spend one energy to move here. I will spend another uh battery here in order to use one of these two cards. Uh I don't know which one here. It doesn't really matter, I think. It doesn't really matter at the moment. Let me take this one. But since I spent that one, I need to take one heat. Oh, I took three heat cards already. I kind of need to be careful now. Um so I can defeat that one as well. I wrap back up to one. Actually, now it does matter which card which card I use, but they all both have at the top. But I actually like the one with pushing away enemies. Like I like that one quite a bit.
So I think I will spend that one. So now I can upgrade this card that's still left in my hand. Um I could either add a range. That wouldn't be bad. I could add two movement after a defeat. That's nice. Drawing cards, I'm not that I'm not that keen on especially I think that one would cover the other one, right? Yeah. So, one thing is I can upgrade a card as often as I want to, right? I can like put like 50 of these uh of these transparent cards in there, but that would be a little bit too much, but you know what I'm you know what I'm getting at. But as soon as I cover something, it's covered, right? So, that effect then doesn't count anymore. Um the two movement is nice. It's like up two movement, right? That one is pretty nice actually. One range is also good, but if I like work with a lot of movement, I think I'm fine. So, I will take this one and sleeve that in here.
I love that mechanism. Um there are other games that do that. Um Unstoppable for example and also a few other ones, but there are not many solo games that do that. Unstoppable is one of those. Um but this one is like a really simple solo game, easy to table and still um um really nice with the upgrades that you do here. Okay, and then we put the next one here. That's just two movement. It doesn't matter whether or not I defeat anything or anyone. Okay. That's it. I'm going to de- I'm going to discard everything. Um that was the end of my turn. Did I miss anything? I don't think so. Okay, then we do the monster turn. So, for first uh we do the attacks. Range of zero, range of zero. So, they both can't attack anything. So, this one actually moves and this one moves two.
So, this one moves two. One, two down here. So, also quite dangerous, but not this round not next round yet because the range of two range of zero, so that's fine. And this one will move one straight the shortest path to the ship. Both paths are the shortest, so I can like choose where it goes. So, just down here. Doesn't really matter too much. And now we do the spawning again. We spawn one here. We spawn one here. We spawn one here. And also we spawn another one as you can see. Um also down here. Oh, there are three monsters at that location here. Ooh, that is that is dangerous. That is really dangerous. Just one more spawn and we get the other two search tokens. Okay, we are getting there.
We are definitely getting there. All right, it's our turn again. We don't have any cards here anymore. That means what we now do is now we have to shuffle the cards here. And also we have to advance the spawn cube by one. So now we always spawn three plus two, so always five monsters instead of instead of just four. And I again forgot to turn these over again. All righty, so let's shuffle these cards here. There we go. Give them a nice cut. Put them here and then we draw four cards again. One, two, three, and four. So what do we do? Which ones are dangerous? This one is dangerous next round. All right?
This one moves two. This one would attack me this round. Uh because like range of one and I'm I have uh I'm like uh I have like a range of one and I'm here at J on an adjacent tile. So I would like to get rid of that one and this one and preferably also that one because that one moves two at the end of the round. So let's see what we can do. Maybe we can chain a few actions here. That would be nice. Um like movement, but we don't have a whole lot of movement here. I can see that is kind of bad. But let's see what we can do. So I do have a few ideas. First of all, I think I want to play this one here. This one is a very nice one. I can show you in a moment why because I will spend one energy here in order to play that and I do one damage um with a range of one. So I will just get rid of that one here because that one is really annoying.
So I get rid of that that grants you one XP, that's nice, and it's discarded. So, no danger there anymore. But, now I've defeated someone, and that means now I have that arrow here, that means I can repeat that action. So, I can, for free, without spending any energy, I can do that again. I can deal one damage with a range of one, and I will get rid of that one here, that also annoyed me because it could more move, too. That's another experience, and that one is gone, as well. Okay, so see, like these uh actions are really great to repeat um specific things. Okay, so, we've only spent one energy, and two enemies are already down. This one, I don't care about this one. If I defeat this one, if I go there, I have to defeat this one, because otherwise I can't leave anymore. So, this one does two damage with one range, that's actually pretty nice.
That's actually pretty nice. Let me think how we can best do that. Let me It doesn't matter where I go, but it makes sense to go on further. Let me see, 1 2 3. If I take another hit, but it's getting dangerous with the heat now, right? Oh, but I think we can do it. I have a few ideas. I do, yeah, I do enough damage. So, I would take do this one. That cost me one battery, so one energy here. That is um damage one, range one. So, I can defeat this one here. That's great, that's one XP. We are close to leveling up again. And since I've defeated that one, I can also move one. So, I will move right here, into the lion's den, so to speak. Um then I will spend another energy for this one here, which lets me make two damage. I I do this do two damage. I could now um split the damage again, but I don't want to. I actually just want to defeat this one here, which is two energy, uh which is two XP.
This one is gone. Um all right. And then I think I will like go all out and I will actually also spend another one which makes me take one more heat. So, I'm I need to be a little bit careful here in order to do one more damage to that guy as well. Okay. And since I've done that, I can also I can also like jump. That means I can jump over an adjacent location, right? That means I could jump here for example. And I think I will do that. I think I will do that. Just to be not in range of any monsters too quickly. Um all right. So, I discard that one. I get one uh I get one XP. So, I'm up to one. And now we have that special case that I can get taken upgrade, but I don't have a card at the moment, right?
Um so I can take an upgrade and keep it for next round. Um I think like having an a range is good, right? But, I do have a lot of range cards as well. If I now draw a card with a ranged symbol, that would be kind of stupid, right? But, drawing extra cards, I'm not really keen on it the moment, right? Um in movement is always good. You know what? I will take the movement here. I'll just put that one here for next round. And then we will see. Here we have if we spend a heat, we get an extra energy. Hm, we get energy back. That's not too bad. That's not too bad. I just need to be careful with the heat management here. All right. First we do the attacks in the monster phase. This one here can't attack anyone, so it will move two. So, it will move one, two down here.
Then we spawn. We spawn the first one here. Right there. Actually, moving two down here would be stupid. I would have moved up there. I will tell you the moment why. Um and now we need to reshuffle the the enemies before we continue spawning, but we have like these two location tokens first, right? So, we will put one one right here. We will put the other one here because these are the two spawn locations where we haven't spawned one yet. All right, and then we shuffle these. And we spawn quite a few more enemies. Okay, so I can now win within one or two rounds.
[snorts]
I just need to be a little bit careful, but I can do it. So, um we spawn another one here. Um we spawn another one here. And then we spawn two more as you can see here, right? So, first at the one location, which is down here. Oh, that one is a little bit dangerous because they now can move to the ship this round. Oh, that's going to be rough. And we spawn another one right up here. Oh, that is really bad. They're both rooted. That means uh I have to defeat them, otherwise I can't leave, and they have two health each. I might have to like do some damage down here first and then move up there. Oh, this is going to be really dangerous. But okay, that's that's the way it is. So, um and with that, it's our turn again. So, what we do now is now we draw these four cards, as usual.
And one of them I can upgrade with the upgrade card that I just got here, right? Um the only card that doesn't cover the top is this one here. So, sure. Let's take this one here and upgrade that one. Okay, nice. Good. There we go. So, let's uh continue here. So, uh what do we do? It's kind of dangerous because we need to get rid of this guy, and that we need to get rid of these two guys. So, I think what I should do is and of course, I forgot to turn these over again. Man, that's like the one thing I always forget. Um so, I will use this one here just uh spending one energy. Um no, wait. Wait. Wait. Before I do that. No, first I will spend one energy to walk over here. And by the way, I could pick that up, right? Because I was at the location.
Then I will spend one energy use this here in order to do one damage to this guy over here. Um that's one XP. Fine. Um and that one lets me now move two. So, I move two down here to that guy. I have a lot of like uh I should have taken that range one, right? Because these are all uh close combat cards. And this one um similarly Um how do I best do that? So, these are all not extremely dangerous this round, but they will like keep piling on, right? So, I need to defeat a few more. I think but you know one attack would be nice to have at the end, right? Let me think. Let me think. Let me think. I should have do that at the end.
But I only have I don't have a whole lot of energy anymore. I will Yeah, I would have to spend everything. Yeah, I think I would do take this one first. That means um that cost me one energy. I will um do one damage this guy here. That's um one XP. That's fine. And now I could push someone uh an enemy at my location, but there is none. But since I um defeated that one, I can move up to two. So, I will move up here. Um then I will spend my last energy taking one heat. Oh, there's only one heat left here. Oh, man. This is got to be really rough. Um just take this one here to do one damage to that guy. That's another experience. And now I could draw another card, um but I'm not going to do that.
Um and then I will use that card here. That one is free, right? Doesn't cost any energy. Um I do one damage, but there is no one here, but I can move two. I will move up here. Actually, no. They will do damage to me. And they will do damage one range. I will move, but I will move over here. Yeah. That's what I would do. Because they all have range and they they definitely going to defeat me because I don't have enough heat to withstand that. Okay. Ooh, that was my turn. That was not Ooh, that that's rough. I don't know. I hope I can still win this. This is going to be a very rough uh next a very rough one or two turns now. All right. So, this one can't attack. These also can't attack. So, this one moves one and this one moves one.
Uh and well, maybe they would probably move down here and this one move also would also move one. So, what I now need to do next turn is go up there, get this, and then go down to the ship quickly. I can't move that much, but let's see what I can do. Okay. Um and now we spawn. That's like the main issue, right? Otherwise, it would be fine. Oh, no, wait wait wait. Not that yet. First, we spawn on this location here, one in this location, and one here. This location is getting really overrun. And then we spawn one up here. Oh, man. But now these are rooted. That's good. They don't keep me there. And we spawn another one down here at the fountain. This one will definitely do damage next like in two rounds, not yet to the ship.
So, I think we're fine with that one. Okay. So, it's our turn again. I would draw four cards. That's a heat card. That's good. We need to get rid of the heat. That's wonderful. But we don't have a whole lot to do anything with. Oh, man, that's bad. I can I cannot really move. Oh, what do we do? Uh what do I do? That is kind of rough. I can I have to do this one here, right? I forgot to turn these over again as usual. I would do two damage in my Well, I can move a little bit. This one isn't dangerous at all yet, right? So, I could actually just uh spend some batteries for movement. Yeah, I think that's what I'm what I have to do. I will spend one battery to move up here.
And I will spend another battery to move here to quickly get that token, right? So, I have all three tokens now. Then I will move use this one here, which cost me another battery in order to do one damage to It doesn't matter. To any of these two. This one moves too far. So, let's damage this one here. Uh I can't damage this one. This one needs a ranged attack. As you can see here in these symbols, so I need them need to defeat Well, no, I want to defeat that one anyway because that one moves too. So, defeat that one, I get one energy. Um so, I want XP. So, this one is gone. And I can now move one. Let me take uh let me move here.
And then what I think I will do is the following. I will use this one here, but these will move down here and then next round is going to be really tough. Next round there going to be two at the ship, but I can deal with that. Okay. So, sorry uh for that I'm taking that I'm taking this long, but it's kind of rough, but Okay, I will do zero damage to that guy, but I will spend one energy taking the heat here in order to do two damage. So, this one is gone. Gives me one XP. Okay. Just one less guy to worry about. I think that's fine. So, I just count this one here. And uh I'm done with And all And like these don't go in my discard pile. These actually go back to the supply. So, I'm fine with the supply here actually. Okay. Ooh, this is going to be really rough. Okay. So, nobody can attack anything at the moment, but this one will move to the ship.
Uh you cannot see him too well. Let me do it like this. This one will move down here. This one will move down here. Oh, it's getting a little bit tight here. Let me just rearrange things a little bit. Um so, you can see everything here. You know what? Up here it's not going to be too interesting anymore anyway. Let me move those up a little bit more like this, right? I think that's fine. Like that. Yeah, I could also zoom out a little bit, but I want you to see as much as possible. Okay. So, this one is only adjacent to that one, right? We need to remember that. All right, and then this these are also going to move. Let me move them to this location here. Like this. Okay. Oh, come on. There we go.
Um, and this one is going to move down here. Did I move anyone? Everyone? I hope so. Okay, now we spawn. We spawn one here that is not rooted. That is good. We spawn one here. Um, also not rooted. And then we spawn two more. Uh, one we spawn right here. And the other one we spawn up here. Up there is fine. Up there is no issue. I can't really see it. Let me just put it right there. Okay, now you should be able to see everything. Okay. So, we win as soon as we are at the ship and there are no monsters at the ship. So, we just need to move one. These are all not rooted. One, two, three, and then defeat that one. We should be able to do that. So, it's our turn. We draw four cards.
We can only draw three. So, what we do is we shuffle the discard pile and also advance the tracker here. Okay, I think we are fine. As long as we can move far enough. Yeah, we can. We can we can definitely move enough here. Okay, so I'll draw one more. Okay, yeah, we have just one heat card here. That's fine. And we could have drawn like many more heat cards, right? I still have four in the deck. I could have drawn four heat cards and that's that would have been our defeat. That's actually a drawback if you have too much heat, right? Um, okay, so what do we do? Well, actually, uh, we just want to move. We can move here with that guy. We can move this zone. We can even jump with that one. That's even better. Okay, then let's take this one. We deal one damage to this guy here. That means we um get one XP and we level up. There's one thing that I haven't shown you yet.
Um whenever we like level up, we can also like spend one of our XP uh like like if I were like two, I could spend one or I could even like wrap back to six in order to discard all these cards and draw a new one. And but if I wrap back to six, then I can still do that, but I can't um then upgrade, right? Because we lose that XP again, that level. Okay, so um I can now uh take any of these three cards and upgrade one of my the remaining cards here. And that is important even though we are um almost done with the round because um I can take these upgrades into the next game. Drawing more cards could soon become valuable because we will have heat cards in our deck, right? So, I think having one card, but then this one here is also nice.
Spending one heat to get an ex- extra to get an extra energy. I think I'd rather do that. I think that one is nice. So, essentially, this card then is kind of free, right? As long as I take a heat. I think that's good. Okay. So, um and now I can also jump. Um which I will do. I will jump right there. Okay, then. What I will do is I will use this one here. That one lets me uh in a bit of range of two. I forgot to do all of that again. I think I have this right. Yeah. Um with a range of two, I can do one damage. So, I will damage this one here at a range, right? So, this one is gone.
I receive one XP. Also, I could now spend a heat to gain energy, which I will not do. But since I defeated that one, I can move one. And with that we have finished the scenario, right? Because I have collected all of the three tokens here. I have returned to my ship and this ship is free of any enemies without the ship having taken damage and even I haven't taken any damage, which is amazing. And still it wasn't easy, right? It was not very easy because like at the end I had to take one damage like in between I would have lost immediately, right? But I was able to like move around a lot, which is really really nice. Well, and this is how you play the game Mac Bunny. I really hope you enjoyed this little play through. I really wanted to show this to you because I really enjoy this game. I think this is a really really good design.
I really like the way you operate your cards. It's nothing new, but it's like very nice way of doing that in such a small solo game here, right? It's a really small box, right? That's like the size of the box. And there's like loads of gameplay in there because you have like loads of scenarios and the cool thing is now I continue my run. I do the two more scenarios, but I keep my upgraded cards, right? I will unlock more cards and then I can like pick up those 14 that I then have I can pick 12. But I will like keep the upgrades on here. That means like I get stronger each scenario, which is really nice. Just between the runs between campaigns you would like reset everything, right? And resetting is very easy. You just take all cards that have like these transparent layers in here sheets and you just remove those and that's pretty much it. So, yeah. This is how you play Mac Bunny. I really enjoy this game.
Let me know in the comments if you would like to see the entire the entire run the entire campaign here. I might do the entire run because it's just three scenarios anyways, right? Unless we lose at some point, but maybe that would be interesting for you to see, but yeah. This is a game that I really thoroughly enjoy and yeah. I really wanted to show this to you. So, yeah.
