Tulikko - Teach & Playthrough
Hi everyone, my name is Monique >> and I'm Naveen from Before You Play >> and today we're going to be doing a two-player playthrough of a game called Tulico. >> Yes, this game is designed by Nicolola Malay as well as Jerome Sole and published by Pandasaurus Games who are helping sponsor this playthrough.
And in this game, players are going to be taking on the roles of spirit animals, creatures in the forest. One of which is Tuliko, which is the fire fox known to run so fast that he generates sparks, creating the northern lights. >> That's right. This is a tile placement game for two to four players that plays in about 20 minutes in which players will need to strategically place out forest tiles onto their wilderness maps in four different colors in order to complete objectives and be the first to ultimately put out all of their animal tokens and their river tokens.
And so today, as usual, we are going to start with a quick te of the game and go straight into a two-player playthrough. If you like to jump around, we'll include timestamps in the description below. >> Now, if you'd all do us a big favor, turn on your cling on subtitles. If you make mistakes, we can add those corrections there or in a pin comment.
Lastly, if you like these kind of videos and you want to see more in the future, please consider subscribing. >> And with that, we are ready to begin. So, if you'd please direct your attention to the center of the table. We're all set up here for a two-player game of Tulico. Welcome to the wilderness.
Now, like we're mentioning in this game, we've been thematically transported to the Scandinavian legend of Tulico, who is the Firefox who's known to create the Northern Lights. But mechanically, this is a tile placement game, and it's also sort of a race because in this game, our goal is to be the first player to put out all of our animal tokens as well as our river tokens.
And we'll be doing this by placing forest tiles into this central mechanism, which ejects another forest tile that we'll be required to place out onto our wilderness maps. And we'll also be trying to complete the various objectives in the game. >> Alternatively, the game can end at the maximum of 12 rounds played.
And if that ends up happening, then we go into final scoring, which is basically counting up the remaining tokens that we have left. And it's your goal to have the lowest score possible. And so the way the game works is starting with your first player and going clockwise. On your turn, you'll do three things.
You'll place a tile in the central area, ejecting a tile, place it onto your player board, and you also check to see if you've met any objectives. Now, each player has their own stack of 12 of their own player tiles. And so at the start of your turn, you'll always start by flipping over the topmost tile.
And this is a forest tile that you'll place into this central mechanism. And so during this step, you'll insert the tile that you just flipped over into any of the four sides of your choice. And what this will essentially do, so just say I were to insert it up here. It'll eject the bottommost tile. And you'll be required to place this tile on an empty space of your wilderness map that matches the symbol it was ejected from.
And so in this example, I must place out this blue forest tile on a raincloud space. Such as say I were to place it here. If the tile that I just placed is now adjacent to any other tiles on my map, then I get to place out one or more of my player tokens. If they are of the same color, I get to place out an animal token.
And if it were a different color, then I would get to place out a river token. And sometimes when placing a tile, you can place out multiple tokens. If it's now adjacent to multiple tiles, let's just say as an example, my board looked like this. And I were to place out this tile. Placing this tile here allows me to put out an animal token as well as a river token.
Just like that. >> And again, the goal of the game is to place out all of your components onto your board before any of your other opponents. So, we have 12 of our animal tiles and six river tiles. And so this is why in the central mechanism here you can see a preview of the color of forest tile that is in that corresponding side so that you can eject the proper tile and place it strategically on your map.
Now keep in mind that this is actually an X formation. So there is a fifth tile here which we don't currently know the color of unless you've been paying attention of course. So this is something you'll want to consider. Then once you finish placing out your tokens you end your turn by first checking to see if you've completed any of the objectives in the game.
And so in this game, there are three different types of objectives. First, we have these four symbol cards. And you will always play with these for every single game. And these are basically a race to be the first person to cover up all five of the corresponding symbol on your wilderness map. So there are four different types of symbols, five of each.
And the first player to do this gets to place out two of their animal tokens on that card. The next type of objectives we have are these landscape cards. Now, there are three different types. We have color, river, as well as shape cards. And there are several of each different type of category that come in the game.
You just randomly choose one from each of the three different categories to play each time you play. And unlike these simple cards, all players can complete all three of these objectives. So, the color card requires you to have a certain configuration uh of colored forest tiles on your wilderness map.
You can rotate that configuration. You just cannot flip it. Similarly, the river card requires you to have that configuration of river tiles on your wilderness map. And same thing, you can rotate it but not flip. And finally, the shape card requires you to have a certain shape of forest tiles on your map.
In this example here, this requires us to have a line of different colors of forest tiles. And this can be either in a row or in a column. And just like the symbol cards, once these are completed, you put out two of your animal tokens on that card. And finally, the last type of objective are the aurora tiles.
These tiles are earned by the player who is the first to put out three of the same color of forest anywhere on their maps. So, this example, I'm only one away from the blue forest tile. And so, as soon as I place out a third, I take this Aurora tile. And now, each of these uh different colors has their own unique one-off ability that you can take on your turn once per game.
As soon as I use this ability, then I flip it over. And that's essentially it for these tiles. Now, one thing to note is there are actually two per color. If I claim the three, I cannot claim the four, which means in a two-player game, as soon as I claim the three, Naveen has to have four of the same color forest tile to take the four token.
>> Yeah. So, it just makes it a little bit harder to get access to that specific action. >> And these tiles are going to let you do things such as the blue tile over here, which lets you take the tile that you ejected and put it back into the mechanism to eject a second tile. And in doing so, you can possibly eject the tile that you placed in in the first place.
Yep. The purple forest lets you relocate a tile that's already on your wilderness map, but in doing so, you have to remove any of the tokens that you had placed. It does not undo any of the completed objectives for placing that tile, though. The red tile is really simple. This lets you claim a landscape objective card that you have not yet met, and you don't have to be meeting its requirement, obviously.
And finally, the green forest aurora tile lets you place your ejected tile onto any space, any available space of your wilderness map. It basically lets you ignore the symbol requirement. And that's it. Once you've checked for objectives, then you end your turn and it goes on to the next player. And we basically continue taking turns like this until either a player has placed out all of their animal and river tokens, in which case we would finish out the round so that players have had an equal number of turns and then the game would end or until the end of the 12th round.
Because again, at the start of your turn, you're always starting by flipping over the top tile from your stack, and each player only has 12 tiles in their stacks. Once the game ends, if only one player put out all of their tokens, then that player is the winner. Otherwise, if the game ends because we reach the end of the 12th round, then we score points for all of our leftover tokens.
The animal tokens give you two points, and you score one point each for each of your river tokens. But at that point, whoever has the lowest score wins. So, these are more valuable, meaning you definitely want to put out your animal tokens as much as possible. And in the case of a tie, the tied player with the largest contiguous group of same colored forest wins.
But that's essentially it. That is how you play Tulico. So, we're just go get cleaned up and we'll get started with our playthrough. >> Okay, we are all set up. We are ready to go. Everything has been shuffled. We reset the mechanism as well. We do have to figure out who is going to be going first. >> Audrey Evans.
>> Uh, okay. I'll go uh Evens. One, two, three. >> Even this time. two and two. >> All right. So, we have completely rerandomized everything. So, this is now the configuration. Again, there is a fifth forest tile in here. >> So, I don't actually know what color is in there. >> And those tiles are taken from a stack of neutral tiles.
So, from these tiles, we also drew our own random tile to start the game. And you just choose a spot that you want to start. So, I just place mine right there in the middle. >> Very good. Now again, when placing out these tiles, you want to pay attention to the number of symbols. We are covering the different uh landscape configurations as well as the number of the same color tiles to take.
Yep. >> So, good luck, Tulico. This is fitting. You get to go first. You are the Firefox. >> Firefox. My my uh sparks. >> That's right. So, why don't you go ahead and take the first turn? >> Okay. Start off. You flip over a tile. >> Yes. >> And then make a decision at where in the mechanism you want to push it out because what you're pushing out is what you put onto your board.
>> Right. I have this greenish one here. Uh, well, I see I have blue. >> Yes. >> And the point of the game is to get these off. I want to get these as close to that blue as possible. >> Okay. >> Um, okay. So, let's just go ahead and push from left to right like this. Do >> you want to take this out?
>> There you go. Your purple's exposed. >> So, now I must place this out on one of these uh swirly symbols. >> Yes. >> And so, I'm going to place it out right here next door to my other blue one. >> Because they match, I'm going to put out one of my animal tokens in the in between. >> Right. Because again, you only place out tokens if you have tiles that are adjacent to the tile that you just placed.
Same color, our animals, different color are rivers. >> Yes. At this point, technically, I would check to see if I complete any of the objectives. It's obviously very early, so it's going to be on to you now. >> All right. So, I'm going to go ahead and flip over my top tile here. I have a green >> forest tile, so there's going to be some green in the mechanism.
>> Yes. Seeing as I already have a purple on my board, I'm going to go from left to right as well. Okay. So, Naveen, you were right. >> Yeah, >> that was a purple that I probably wanted. And I have to place it out on the squirrel symbol as well. So, I'm going to go >> right here. Now, it is very similar, but I'm also working towards this objective because again, you have to have tiles in that configuration, but it can be rotated.
>> So, now um the tile that I place is adjacent to another tile. It's of the same color. So, I'm going to place out my own animal token. All right. It's back to you, Navine. >> All right. Okay. I will take this tile. Blue. >> Why? Why is that bad? >> Well, blue's good. It's just >> I want it here. >> An Aurora tile already.
>> I could I could I don't need to, though. So, I'm going to go here. I'm going to I'm going to move this over. >> Okay. >> I'm going to slot this top and bottom. >> Just like that. They do. I'm going to take this one. So, this red one is going to go onto one of those swirly symbols. >> And I'm going to place it here.
>> Okay. >> And that's going to create a river now. >> Yes. Because they are different colors. cuz I'm also thinking about some of these other objectives, the river and this one, the shape one also. So if I can get a green and a purple in some configuration here, then I would satisfy that one >> because again this is a row or column of all four colors basically.
And then this one is hard because you have to do this is going to require 1 2 3 four five of your six river tokens >> and they have to be in that configuration. You can rotate it again but you cannot flip. >> The river one's tough. >> The river one is tough. But I will say one thing that we did not mention in the teach is when placing out a tile.
You can choose to forgo putting out your own tokens. Like let's just say I have the option of putting out a river token. Um I can forgo doing that if it's not going to fit that shape that I'm kind of working towards. >> Exactly. So the way I see it is by me putting this here I'm halfway to this if I can do purple.
Purple. Obviously Monnique is also competing for purple. Right. >> So that's >> But this is not a race. We can both do it. >> No. No. I know. >> Are you done? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So then it's to me. Oh, I have a red forest. I'm gonna place this tile up here. >> Okay, >> I think it was not the most ideal, but I'm gonna Yeah, I'm going to push out the red >> from the bottom >> into a rain spot.
>> And yeah, it has to get placed on a a rain raincloud. >> Yeah, >> here. So, this lets me put out everything. >> So, you are going to do it. >> I'm going to put out the river token. Yes. Yes. >> All right, that's it. >> All right, let's draw. Let's see. Purple. Oh, no. Oh, where too? >> I don't like this cuz you're going to get access to this thing.
>> Yeah. >> So, I need to be careful where I slot it. >> That's how I felt about my red forest token. This is >> actually the decision space is not that straightforward. >> No. All right. I Okay, I'll do this. >> Okay, >> I'll put it here. >> Oh, you're going to get a third blue. >> Yeah, >> it's pretty nice.
>> I have to. So, I'm going to take this. >> Okay. >> So, it's going to go into one of these like moon symbols. >> Uhhuh. >> So, if I put it here, I can put out two things basically. I can put out the animal and the river here. So, I'm going to do that. So, let's do that. >> You will do both. >> Animal.
I will. Yeah. >> Okay. >> I don't know if I'm going to get this river thing completed. >> You don't want to get too hung up on the objectives. You just want to put out these tokens. >> Yeah. There's only 12 rounds. I mean, you can see how quickly it goes. Now, I've gotten three of these. >> Yeah. Three of the same color.
>> First one for the blue. >> Yeah. >> So, I'm going to take this. And again, this one allows me to basically whenever I use it, it's a oneoff >> uh to whatever I slot in, I can then take the thing that's pushed out and then reput it back into the mechanism. And that's what I would then place into my into my board over here.
>> So, once per game, flip that over. Yeah. Nothing else has been met, so it's back to you. >> All right. Uh let's see what I have. All right. >> I feel like we've seen a lot of green, >> but nobody actually has a green, so I think it's in the middle. It's not ideal, but I think I am going to just take the purple.
>> Purple. You're just going to slot it somewhere. >> Yeah. Oh, look at all the green. >> I'm going to slot it on a swirl. Let's go here. Um, now I don't get to put out any tokens right now, but I do get the Aurora tile for it because I have I'm the first to three of the purple. And I'm just going to use this now >> because this lets me move a tile that I've already placed.
>> You don't have to do it now. >> I will. I'm going to place this, I think, here. Oh, I don't have to do it now. You don't have to do it now. >> I don't have to do it now. >> Why? Why commit? >> Why commit? >> Yeah. >> So, if that's the case, then should I I'll just place it here, >> right? So, I can actually put out >> a river >> something.
>> Well, if you're going to move it, then then you're going to break something. >> I may or may not fit. So, let's just put out the river. >> All right. >> Oh, but it's not going to fit. >> No, I I I don't know if I'm going to complete the >> The river one's hard. >> That's really hard. >> That's a tough one.
>> Oh my god. So much indecision. All right, that's it. >> Flip it purple. >> Yes. >> Why? >> Cuz I have So, I'm going to do this. >> I'm going to go like that. >> Nice. >> And then I'm going to actually use this. >> Okay. >> So, I'm going to flip this over. So, then this tile that gets slotted out.
>> Yeah. >> I'm going to use it to put it back in. So, you can take your purple. So, >> I can get my purple. Yeah. >> Very nice. >> Thank you. >> So, this is going to go here. No, not the sunspot. The uh Oh, >> the moon spot. Sorry. It's going to go there. >> So, what's going to happen is I'm going to put a river.
Yeah, >> which is nice. >> Very nice. >> And then if I can just get a purple here, then I would meet this this uh thing right there. >> That is true. >> And I'm doing the river thing. >> You are doing the river thing. >> That's me. >> All right, let's go ahead and flip over a tile. And I have another purple.
So much purple. Oh, this is awful because if I put this here, then Naveen will have the one that he needs to complete this. I don't want to put it there. >> You can do whatever you want. I'm going to go here and I'm going to take this green one >> and place it on a moon space, which will be up here.
>> So, I'm going to place out a river token. Okay. >> Little box in. >> You definitely don't want to move that thing right now. >> We're not yet. >> Not yet. Uh, okay. Huh. I'm like I'm what? I'm two away from this river thing. >> So hard. >> It is hard. All right. Let's Let's uh flip this. >> Okay.
>> Blue. Blue. >> Hey. Hey. >> Okay. Blue. All right. I'm going to do this. I'm going to go from under. >> Okay. >> Push this up. >> Yeah. >> So, now this red. This will be my second red sun space. I'll put it here. >> And by me doing that, that gets me another river. >> Yeah. >> So, this river thing could be complete if I put something here or here.
That's mismatch, right? >> Yes. A different color. Right. >> Oh, that feels good. Okay. That's me. >> All right. Back to me. I am going to flip over a tile. Oh, red. I want to give you a red. >> Red. You say >> red? Okay. I cannot put it here. >> I cannot put it there. That would be so good for you.
>> It would be a good one. Yeah. >> So, I'll go up here. I know. Nina is going to complete his river. Thank you. >> But it was going to happen regardless. Thank you. >> So, at least this way I can put this here. >> Okay. What are you working on? >> I'm working on that. >> Oh, you are working on that?
Yeah. >> Yeah. So, see that? I do get to put out two rivers. Oh my gosh. >> Do it. You're not doing the river thing. Look at this. >> I know. >> What are you doing? Yeah, put it out. >> Well, hold on. You can you can use this at any time on your turn, right? >> So, before I um before I decide if I want to use the tokens, I'm going to use this.
>> Okay. >> So, that I can move this. >> Oh, okay. >> Cuz I can't I don't know when I'm going to get a red title. Let's just do this now. Not solid >> because >> is that legit? >> Huh? >> Is that it? >> Yeah. This is This >> rotated twice. >> It's rotated. Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Or just one way. Well, it's this is rotated counterclockwise.
So now these get removed. Wow. That's a lot of >> Yeah, that's bad >> tokens that I just removed. >> No, but you created one one like that. >> I did. So these these two I just I just placed, right? So let's just do that separately. I just needed a visual of what that was going to look like. >> You're going to create three rivers.
>> So I spent that. Okay. So I I am just going to forgo this card because in doing this I can put out four of my rippers, right? Because placing this tile gets me this one and this one. >> And then when I relocated this tile, this lets me put out >> Yeah, it's good. >> This one and this one, >> right?
>> Yeah. No, >> let's just do it. We just go for it. All right. >> And then now you've completed this. >> Yes. Then now I've completed this. Now again, when you complete any of these card objectives, you put out two of your animal tokens on that spot. This is not a race. Everybody can do it, but everybody has a spot there.
So, my blue rabbit spot will get filled. >> I'm also one away from completing this one. >> So, you need a what do you need? I need a purple here. >> I need a purple here. >> Oh, which is what that is right there. >> What What do you uh what's most important to you right now, Naveen? That is a question, but it is to you.
>> It is a question, I will say. Um shoot. Honestly, completing the river. >> Okay, >> I got to do it. All right. What am I doing? Yeah. Here we go. Red. H red. All right. We'll go here. >> Okay, >> we'll push this up. >> Yep. >> By doing that, this red comes out sun. I'll put it on sun here. >> Very nice.
>> So, we're going to complete this river. >> Oops. >> So, a couple things happen. So, I've completed this river. So, it's going to be boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. It's exactly what that wants. It's just kind of like uh >> this one. Yep. So, you get >> It's not even rotated. It's exactly how it wants it to be.
Yeah. >> Get extra points for that. >> Yeah. No rotation. Exactly what it was looking for. Then I have one, two, three of these. So this one, >> this one says I get to put out uh two of my animal tokens on one of these. So >> yeah, why wait? I agree. What's the thing that I'm I'm struggling? This this one I'm struggling.
I'm only one away, but I have to have >> I have to have a purple perfectly here. And I feel like you're going to constantly say no, I can't. >> I'll try. >> So I'm going to Unfortunately, I'm going to put it on that one. >> Oh, okay. Here for go. >> I don't know what you I've seen a lot of purple go by.
Yeah, >> you're going to take this one. I mean, how many are in >> and it has to be specifically the landscape. It can't be the symbol one. >> That's that. >> Nice. So, now it's back to me. Let me just see what this is. This is a red. Is there any reason for me to not put this here? I guess it gives Naveen.
That's fine. >> Yeah, go for it. >> I have to do this because I >> It helps you complete something. >> Yeah, it completes an objective just like Naveen said. When am I going to have the chance to do that? >> Yeah. >> So, I'll put this here. Let's go in a swirl. Yeah. >> So, it's going to go there. I I put out a river.
I'm going to do it. >> Yeah. >> Um and then even though I have four again, I do not get the four purple because you can only have one of these and I already claimed the three Aurora tile for purple. But I do complete this objective because I have four tiles in all different colors in a row. >> Yeah, it's good.
>> So, and again, you can do that in a column. So, two of my my um animal tokens will go there. >> All right. Good. >> All right. That's me. >> Okay. Uh, let's draw red. >> So much red. >> Red. Red. Red. All right, I'll put this down here. >> Okay, >> we're gonna slot this down. And then I like this red.
>> The cloudy rain. >> Uh-huh. >> Popping right into that cloudy rain allowing me to put out >> Oh, >> fox. Fox. >> You are so close. How many? Just just layers out. >> I have four plus one. So, I have uh Yeah. >> Oh, no. I have three, four, five, six, seven plus one. What have I done? I've been focusing on all the wrong things.
Yeah, >> that's what happened. >> That's what happened. >> Yeah, >> it's easy to get caught up in the objectives. There's so many of them. >> Yeah. >> And when you play a game with objectives, >> you want I could stall out though because the next objective is going to be a little tough right now. So, I don't know.
>> But the name of the game is still putting out the same colored tiles adjacent to ones that you already have. So, >> red is looking real good for you. >> Yeah, red is out there. >> Red is out there. All right. Well, it goes back to me. And I have a blue forest tile. I don't even want right now. >> Blue works.
>> It's tough because my purple is sort of like shielding everything. You know what I mean? >> Yeah. You need to find a purple and like put one here and then you get boom to your rabbits. >> Yeah. Yeah. There's no purple right now. I took them all. Seeing as nothing is going to get me sort of double color here.
Right now, >> I'm just going to do this >> green. So, I can take the green >> and I'm going to place it here. It doesn't get me to put out any tokens, but nothing really would have really been ideal. >> Okay. >> So, this is sort of just setting up because at least there's still this leftover three. >> Yes.
>> Tile here. >> There is. Okay. Let's see what I got. Purple. Oh, I knew it. >> You got a purple. >> I knew it. >> Very nice. Where you going to put it, Naveen? >> I don't. >> Be careful. >> I know. Oh, shoot. Okay. >> Everything is pretty good, though. >> Yeah. Okay. I will put this one here. >> Okay.
>> Slot this down. I'll take this and just plop it here. here. And this is going to do a couple things for me. >> So, we have a match. >> We have a fox going out. And then my last river can do this. >> Amazing. >> There we go. Getting close. >> All right. I know you put this there because it's only going to be this spot here, but it'll at least let me complete the the symbol objective.
It's not great, >> but it doesn't put the purples next to each other. >> You covered the green. >> I covered the green. >> Rude. Rude. Rude. Rude. >> But you get to put two things out. That's nice. >> So, I'll do this. >> Okay. >> I'll place this out on the swirl. Horrible. >> That's good though for you.
>> And then I've I've uh completely covered all of the swirl symbols on my board. So I was the first to do that. So I get to put out two of my animal tokens. >> And I now I cannot >> And now Naveen cannot do that. But the bad thing is I also cannot take those tiles because if I can't swirl, I can't place it out.
>> Exactly. >> So anyway, >> that's good for me. Back to uh this one. Uh oops. One tile. >> Uh okay, this I have to do this. So I'm just going to I'm not even thinking to think about this. I'm going to slot this down. >> Okay. >> Get this one to come out. He says >> loud here. So, we got two more foxes.
>> Two more foxes. Oh my gosh. >> One more fox. Come on. Anything. >> Anything. >> Anything. I just need >> No, it has to be >> has to be a purple here. A red. >> There's There's no way. >> Yeah, >> it's going to end in the next round. >> Maybe. >> Definitely. >> Yeah, it depends on what you do. I will say this blue is not uh eligible to be touched against another blue.
The blue moon is not a thing. That is >> I'll just point it out right now. Yeah. >> Oh, green. >> Oh, more green. >> Well, I can't let Naveen have this red red rain cloud. So, I'm going to go like this >> and I'll take the green green sun, >> which is pretty nice cuz I'll be able to go here. >> Yes.
>> I haven't put out a tile in a very long time. >> You put out two things. >> I get to put out two two tokens. Yes. One of my rivers, one of my animals. >> And I get to take this. >> You do. >> So, this lets me ignore the symbol. So now when I take uh a tile, when I eject a tile, I can place it anywhere on my board.
>> The bummer about this red is red is what gets me to finish this game. But there's no red next to a sun. >> Sun here is this blue. >> Yeah. >> All right. Well, let's just draw. >> Okay. >> Oh, red. >> Okay. How can I set myself up for a H. >> Now, one one thing to note though is even though even if Naveen were to end the game on his turn, we still finished out the round.
>> Yes, I started. >> Nine started. You started, right? I did start. >> Okay. So, how many tiles you This is the last three rounds. >> Three rounds. Yeah. >> Oh, time for chicken. >> How do I set this up? Can I put you in a box? >> Okay, I can do I can do something here. I'll do this. This won't end it.
>> Okay. >> But it at least gives me a no matter what option here. So, that's going to be moon. >> Mhm. >> And I only have um I only have two moons left. So, I'm just going to plop this down here. >> And this gives me some options. So, no matter what, I can just say push moon and end it by putting my last one out on the >> Yeah.
So this is this is >> this is going to be the last >> the last round. >> Well, you have two I have two more turns. >> You have this plus one. Yeah. >> Yes. This plus one to put out four of these animal tokens. >> Yeah. >> Not happening. And the thing that's great for Naveen is if you were to go to a tie has a tie.
It's the largest contiguous group of same colored tiles. So I think this is Naveen. It's looking like Naven's game here. >> All right. Let's see. Let's try to make this Oh, purple. What is it that you What are you gonna end this game on? You want to cover the moons? >> Literally, I can do anything. Like, no matter what tile you put, I can just put it here and then it's like all my moons are covered.
I put it on the moon thing. >> So, I guess I'll just go this way, right? >> Yeah. >> I just want the green. >> Okay. I put out more stuff. >> Yeah. So, this will let me put it on a rain cloud, which will be here. >> Yes, >> cuz I can at least put out one of my animal tokens. >> Yeah. One more round.
So, >> Yep. >> Okay. Back to me. All right. Let's flip it. Oh, there's a green. Um, well, I have to end this. >> Yeah. Yes, >> I can end it a couple ways. So, I'll end it I'll end it like this. I'll go this way. >> Okay. >> Slot this over here. >> So, red swirl. >> Red swirl. We'll go here. And that makes this go there.
>> You've done it. >> So, I've triggered end game 11. >> All of his animal and river tokens. >> There's only one round left. >> The end of the game. >> But I was first player. So, you get one more turn. >> Yes, you finished out the round. >> So, I'm just going to do the thing I wanted to do. Oh, it's a purple.
There's the purple. >> I definitely want the purple tile. So, let's take this. It would require me to put it out on a sun symbol, which is not ideal. I would like to put it here >> or here. Really, it doesn't really matter which one. >> So, you're going to use your >> So, I'm going to use my aurora, my green forest aurora tile to place it here.
>> You're only off by one. Oh. >> Oh, >> verticalize it. >> My forest. >> There you go. >> Okay. So, this lets me put out a an animal here and here. >> There you go. And that's it because I was unable to put out all of my tokens. So there's no score counting, nothing. The game is over because Naveen placed out all of his tokens.
>> Only by one, though. I mean, >> yeah. >> Yeah, that's true. >> So, if you're wondering what uh endgame scoring is, if we actually went to 12 rounds, uh it for every animal token, it's uh two points. And for every river token you have, it's one point. So, you really want to get those animal tokens.
>> And it's whoever has the lowest score wins. That is why. So again, there's two ways in which the game can end. Vine ended it by putting out all of his tokens first and he was the only person to do so. So he wins. >> Uh the other way is if we had had to place out our last tile. We were very close.
>> What do I have? >> We 12 rounds total is the max this game goes to. And at that point, if nobody puts out all of their tokens, then you do the whole score counting thing. And whoever has the lowest score wins. But again, in the case of a tie, in either of those situations, whoever has the largest continuing grouping contiguous grouping of one color, >> right?
So, I have five of one. Mon'nique has four of of one. So, you would have won the tiebreaker if it was still a tie. >> But there you go. Good job, Naveen. You are the winner today. You focused on all the right things. Naveen focused on putting out his animal. >> The the river, I think, was was good for me.
>> You think that's what won you the game because you did the >> Yeah, I put out the two things that got me going that I decided not to do. Also, the uh getting the red one was good because then I could just put out two and not have to worry about making this happen. >> I really tried to do this. >> I was close.
>> And this. And the thing about these two is in trying to do them requires you to put out different colors, >> which is going to get you a bunch of rivers, but it's not going to get you your animal tokens, which is really what you want to focus on. >> Um, >> it was close though. >> It was Yeah, that's one.
>> That's as close as you can as you can get. Now, this was Tuliko at two at higher player counts because again, this game does play up to four. The rules don't change at all. So, you still have these options. People will probably be more in competition for these as well as the symbol cards. And speaking of cards, there are several more of the landscape type that come with the game.
There are a ton of them and there are three different categories. So, you just randomly choose one from each category. So, these are the >> the Yeah, the color things. >> The color ones. >> These are the shape, right? And then the the other ones are the river ones. So you can have stuff like four or more uh river tokens that need to connect the top and the bottom of your board.
>> So you want to get like straight across. Yeah. >> This configuration the river ones are quite difficult. Do I >> It looks something like that. >> Close. I need it to be deeper and thinner. >> Um now some of them are also marked with a symbol that's basically if if it's like your first game you it's recommended that you don't play with them.
So this is one of of those we decided to just randomly choose which which made the game a little bit harder because you know having different colors makes it harder for you to put out the animal tokens. So just keep that in mind. But otherwise there you go. That is >> Tulico. >> Well there you go. That is the game at two.
