Best thing about being a wizard, Nick, just vibes. Just vibes. All vibes all day, dude. I've seen Gandalf at a party. Vibing.
Absolute mad lad.
Firing off fireworks.
His beard lights on fire every single every single time.
He doesn't mind.
What's up everybody? My name is Nick.
I'm Mike.
We are the brothers Murf. Today at the game house we are playing That's Wizard.
Boom. This is by Mana Works Games who are sponsoring this one. Thank you so so much for that. There's a campaign that is live right now. You can check it out down description below. Big big shout out to them for sponsoring.
Absolutely. So, this is a game where we are going to be playing uh one v one wizard duels. Uh and you have to shout your spells. So, I've lost my voice already. Uh, but we are going to be playing cards, uh, spending our power to, uh, kind of set the those the level of some of those spells, trying to counter each other and be the first one to win two duels before your opponent does. So, what we're going to do, show you an overview how this game's going to work.
Uh, and then we'll hop right in.
In That's Wizard, players are, you guessed it, wizards who are dueling it out. Each player has a deck of cards and will choose which cards to keep in their seven spell hand. You can choose these cards yourself or use one of the pre-made characters in the rule book. The game is a best of three duels, and whichever wizard wins two duels first wins the game. Each round, you will choose five of your seven spell cards to have in your hand, along with your counter spell and focus cards, which both players have and are not spells. You will then choose which two to take out of your hand, so your opponent never truly knows what spells you can sling at them. Then the game will begin. Each player will choose a card to play and they will reveal them simultaneously along with their power dial which denotes how much power they are using for this card. The player who's using the least power goes first as more powerful spells take more buildup. If there's a tie, each player rolls their die and the highest roll goes first.
Some cards have a set power cost like conflration which always cost six power, but many have a range that you can choose from. With something like spark, you can choose one to three power. You may choose to not do the maximum power every single time for a few reasons. One reason is that you only have 10 power, so you may not have the power to fully use the card, or you may want to save some. And another reason is that some cards benefit from using certain amounts. If we go back to spark, we can see that it does more damage if you're going first in the round. If a card ever has the letter P listed, that is equal to the power that you spent. So, if we activated first with our spark card, we would do damage equal to the power we spend plus one. Note that some cards don't trigger immediately. Cards with the hourglass will trigger at a different time stated on the card. And sometimes these can trigger for multiple rounds, like this tongue tied card, that makes your opponent pay more for their power cards. Each player also has a focus card, which is not a spell card and costs no power, but will reset your power back up to 10. And each player has a counter spell which will cancel your opponent's spell, but it will damage you for one for using it. If next round you use it again, so you're using it back to back, it will damage you for two and then it'll damage you for three if you use it again and so on. So you can't use it indefinitely. Once a wizard is reduced to zero stamina, the round immediately ends and the winning wizard gains a star. Players will then take back their set aside cards and choose two more to set aside for this round and the duel starts again. Once a player has won two DS, they're declared the winner of the game.
So, you don't know where, right? Where where is everything in my deck? Like, where is everything?
I don't even know.
I don't even know. I don't even know either.
It's not for me to know. Oh, no. That's wizard.
That's wizard, man.
Uh, something like this. Pretty wizard.
I love it when we say it like that. It sounds like we're talking about a specific That's Wizard right there.
That's wizard right over there. He's a guy who looks exactly like a wizard in every way. That's That's who that is. That's wizard.
You know, sometimes they say you're born into something by the name you're given, and with that, like, I hope you're magical.
Yeah. Right. Um, we're new best of three. Little quick little
little best of three. We're doing three duels. We're just wielding our magic. Uh, so in this game, again, you can kind of craft your deck. And we went with uh some suggested pre-made decks, which are in the rule book, but you can, of course, craft your own as well.
Yeah. Um, so we have selected our two cards to set aside for the round.
Yep.
Uh, for this first duel, we'll get them back. Um, so I guess all we got to do now is choose
choose our spells. Yes. Um, and then choose the the power and we do this. Okay.
Okay, I have made my selection. All right, they're going up.
I'm going to play tongue tied at a power level of four.
Oo, I am playing shock. I have a power level of three.
Okay.
Um,
so you're going first since you committed less power.
Yes, indeed. So, uh, this is something that happens this round. And the effect is if I go first this round, which I am, I will do, uh, P of course is power plus one damage. Otherwise, I would just do my power damage. So, I do an extra damage if I'm going first, which I one, two, three, four.
Yep.
Uh, and that cost you three power. I'm playing tongue tie, so this is going to come into effect starting next round. Um, I'm doing a level four, so it's going to get four counters on it. Woo. And this is saying your opponent must pay two additional power when playing a spell card. Um, the added cost does not increase the spell's
strength. Power.
Yeah. So, that costs four power. One, two, three, four,
two extra. And as I'll put this over here as a reminder to you, that's in effect starting uh this next round.
Okay.
Um so you're going have to pay a little more.
Okay. Boom. Done. Got
fix.
Yep.
All right.
Doing three.
Doing three. I'm doing two.
Okay.
So, uh I will go
point flip first. Point flip. This is reflect. Um, so this round if you go before your opponent, I am going before my opponent. Uh, I reverse any spell they played that targets me and has a power of four or less. So, it's going to blame flip it back on you.
So, this is now hitting me.
Yes. Oh, that's not good. Uh, so now it says whenever my opponent takes damage, increase that damage by two and it's going to last for three rounds. Oh, that's not good. So, now I have both of these on my Yeah. O. And it's going to cost me five power to do that because the extra two. Wow, that's very bad. Um, okay. This is a quick guy, so it comes back to me. I did have to pay two power to do that, though.
Okay, that's not good. Um,
Um.
All right. Okay.
All right.
Focusing.
Do I ignite?
Um, but you're going first, so go ahead. Yeah, you're
I'm going to focus. This is not a spell card, so this won't count. Um, I'm going to go back up to 10.
Very nice. I'll play Ignite. So, at the uh end of the next round is when this will trigger. I'll deal um three power plus three damage. So, that's going to be six. Uh and then uh the card will go away. So, again, end of next round, it will trigger. All right. Put these on you and just kind of stack them up over here. I'm just getting all the cards. That cost one, two, three power to use.
And you removed your counters, I think. Right. Uh, yeah. So, I'm sorry. This one goes away. And I did move that one in.
Cool. So, I'll make sure Um,
all right.
Oops. I went straight up. That's fine.
I'm going to focus up.
Yep. You've figured you out ahead.
Zero. I'm going to set my power to 10.
All right. I'm doing explosion. So, I'll deal P plus one. So, I did five. Um, so I guess it's going to cost me seven, though.
Okay.
Uh, damage. So, six damage.
Six. That brings me down to 10. Ow. Yeah. Then you're going to hit me for six for this one, right? I sure will. Actually, you'll hit me for eight because of this thingy.
Chaining them together, baby.
Yeah. Comes back.
It's definitely good. Okay, so
Interesting. All right, I'm ready. All right. Okay, I'm going to do stun.
Do a shock. Okay,
so I am going first. I'm going to do P plus one damage. So, two damage to you. Boop. That's going to cost me three, unfortunately. Okay. Uh, okay. I'm playing stun at a power level of two. So, your opponent loses uh power plus two power.
Uh, so four. If you remove more power than your opponent has, they take the rest as damage instead. So, you're on zero power. It's going to be four damage.
Yep.
That cost two power to use. Those will go away. Um, bum sash. Bum sash, bro. Bum sash, bro. Um. So, okay.
I'm ready. All right. Flip them count. Oh, you cheeky guy. Okay, so uh that is going to cancel this thing, which uh
I'm guessing was bad.
It's a bummer. It was going to be the ignite where I put six damage and give it to you. So
that's why I figured
that negates that instead.
I was just like, I got a hunch this is not going to be good.
You have to lose one stamina to do that. If you play counter spell twice in a row, that starts to stack. But I feel like that was a smart move.
Yeah. I was like I feel like there's a a whopper coming
coming at me right now.
Interesting. Well, do you have to pay your power when you do that?
I do. Yep. So that was three. Darn. Extra bummer. extra bum. Okay, now I'm gonna focus.
All right, makes sense. So, you'll go that I'll shock. So, if I went before my opponent, which I knew I would not.
Yes.
Uh, I would deal an extra damage, but instead it'll just be three.
Three.
Okay.
And that costs one, two, three power. All right. Okay. Did the gambit work, Mike?
Maybe.
Maybe. I don't know.
All right. Shock six power.
Yeah. So, okay. I guess So I'm going before you.
Yeah.
So I go before your opponent. I get P plus one damage. It's going to be three.
So in this case, do you win? Is it instant? Okay. Yeah, that's kind of what I
So what does Polymorph do?
So basically round if you're at P plus two, which you're which is eight, uh you get turned into an animal and you're forced to forfeit.
So that was the I was like, I need to get you down to eight. But me doing so was going to put me down to power and I was going to have to
focus back.
Oh wow.
To get it to get you back. And then I was just like, I'm going to I'm going to have to spend too much time doing this. That's why I put that counter spell cuz I was like, you know, I have to focus. So I was like, I'm going to play this counter spell because I have a hunch you're going to really hit me hard. It ended up not making a difference. I wish I had just focused instead because the one you did do was going to not happen till the end of next round anyway.
Sure. So, I wish I had just done it um instead of countering that because I think it I maybe could have won. Sure. Otherwise. All right. So, now we're back. So, now we're choosing two uh cards again to um uh to take out of our game here.
Get rid of those two. I say a mystery, of course. So, if I win this next round, it's over. So, I'm going to try to do that. Yeah. Yeah, that is that is fair. Best thing about being a wizard, Nick, just vibes. Just vibes. All vibes all day, dude. I've seen Gandalf at a party. Vibing.
Absolute mad lad at a party. firing off fireworks.
His beard lights on fire every single every single time.
He doesn't mind.
He doesn't. He doesn't care.
All righty. We back. Hey,
we are back. New duel, new day. Everything has been reset. How to begin.
All right. Okay. So, cheeky counter spell.
Oh, good idea because you were about to lose half your health. Um,
what?
Yeah. So, this is your opponent takes fatigue equal to half their current stamina rounded down.
Oh my god.
It was a good idea. I had a hunch. I was kind of worried.
I was like, he's going to do something big at the same
when I when I put it out there. I was just like Mike's about to counter spell right now. I was I just had a hunch going.
Power.
Yeah,
because it loses half your stamina rounded down. Start of the game. That's 10 of your stamina. Okay, that was scary.
Yeah, I was just like I was like I had a hunch. I was like Mike's going to counter spell for playing the counter spell.
Gonna counter spell me. I know it. But
that is uh impressive. That is impressive.
All right.
I'm going to ignite.
Yeah. Figured
figured
one two three four five predictable. So predictable catching stuff on fire. I'm going leave that over with you. Don't worry about it. End of next round. Don't even think about it. Cost me one, two, three power. Too much
flip. I'm doing shock. Oh, shrinking you again. Dang.
Can't stop me. Okay.
All right. You're talking first though.
Uh, I am. So, I'm going for you for three. So, I'll do four damage.
Yep.
And then you are going to remove half my damage rounded down, which I think will be
nine. I'm on 19.
You have 19 rounded down. Yeah.
Nine. So, it does bring me down to 10.
Yeah.
Oh my gosh.
But I'm going to take six now.
So, it's We're both at a 10. Let's be honest.
Bear. There.
It's a lot. That is a brutal card though.
Yeah, but it's it's really expensive.
It's a level four spell.
Yes. Yes. That's my biggest uh transmute I think is what it is spell. Yeah.
Yep.
She LEG she and George.
She and George and Lorge. Lorge Morge.
Lorge. Morges. AC. So,
okay.
What will Mike do?
Oh, wow.
Okay. Oh, so I'm not going first. That's kind of a bummer.
Uh, I'm just going to focus. Go up to 10. I thought you were gonna do counter spell or something. So I was like, let me do something different.
Yeah. Yeah. I was hit you for one.
Hit me for one. All right.
Yeah. Did shock. So if I went first, I could have hit him for one more. But I I really thought I was going to go first. I didn't think you're cuz you had a couple energy left. So I figured
I didn't strictly have to go
No. Yeah. With a focus, but I thought you were going to counter spell. It's like let me counter the counter by not playing the spell.
But alas, RIP Ted. Um, that's what
uh Okay. I mean, yeah. Vibing, wizard, dude. All right. I am ready. Counter spell.
I knew you were going to counter spell.
I hate that one. I don't like that one. Get out of here.
Dang it. Make you pay more power, baby.
Yeah, I thought Yeah, did not like that. Thought you were going to do it again.
Don't like that one.
Okay. And you lost your stamina for doing so.
I did. At least there's that. Um, okay. All right. Now I got to boost. All right. I will shock you. I did not go first, obviously. So, I'll pay one, two, three, and do three damage to you. All right.
What are you going to do? What are you going to do?
What's he gonna do?
All right. Oh, we're both shocking.
Shocking. Oh, we did the same. Oh, we got to roll off.
All right, so highest roll breaks the tie.
Three.
Yes.
Dang.
So, I'm doing two, but I'm going first. It'll be three damage.
I will do two damage.
Look at us go.
I know. Same. Look at us go.
Paid two power for that.
I got shot guard. It's simple. It's easy.
It's good stuff. Okay. All right, I made my selection.
Boom.
All right, you're first.
I'm first. So, if your opponent has power plus three, five stamina or less, you disarm them of their wand and force them to forfeit the duel. Dude, this is such a bummer. You just keep beating me, too. I'm about to turn you into a chicken again with a chicken.
Damn. But that is a second.
That's such a bummer. That's two times in a row. Mike, I literally was about to win and then Mike just happened to play something with slightly lower power. Dang.
Close both times then. I was very
that thing same thing where I'm like man
I had to play that one just right to get to get you down enough health and play the disarm.
I almost did counter spell.
Yeah.
And then I was just like and then I'll play my chicken card and then I was like no let's just do it now just in case you do well. Yeah. I should have done
it would have helped because I would have used all my power. So
yeah know I should have done it cuz I I almost last second was like oh you should use counter spell just in case. I didn't which was silly. I could have won that one. Dang.
The old disarm man. The old nonviolent tactic. One out in the end. GG.
Yeah,
I narrowly avoided being a chicken
twice much twice.
That's so true. So that was boom. Each time I was so close to winning both of those rounds.
Want to make me a chicken so bad.
My gosh, we really just like Yeah, I really wanted Mike to be a chicken. But nonetheless, that is that's Wizard by ManWork Games who are sponsored. Again, thank you so much for that. Make sure to check it out down in the description below. Get you some of that and let them know that we sent you.
Absolutely. We'd really appreciate that. Give your comments uh on your thoughts on this one in the comments below and we'll see you next time in the game house.
Bye everybody.
