to the table reload fight for fame is a tactical skirmish game set in a cybernetic military reality television show it was designed by francois jose and jean-marc crube and published by colossal games the game plays two to four players in 60 minutes and is of light to medium complexity in this video we're using a prototype copy of the game and so the art and components may not be final in the world of reload cybernetic clone soldiers are set against each other in special training islands to ready them for international combat but in a consumerist world the training process is also exploited for its entertainment value resulting in the popular reality television series reload in the game you take on the roles of these soldiers fighting to best each other in combat but also showing off your flashy and popular tactics to earn the most fans among the audience each player begins with five dice on a turn a player assigns those dice to the action spaces rotating the dice freely to match the space they're placing on and these will correspond to the different actions actions include moving around the map using the action of a location picking up a beacon which can be deposited in the central tower for fame points picking up helpful equipment cards which can be equipped up to an encumbrance limit or if alone setting traps disarming traps or erecting protective walls or hideouts all of these can help the players to increase their strengths protect their tactical positions on the game board and directly earn fame points players will also take each other on in combat and this is where the game's unique dice allocation mechanic comes into effect in melee combat a player's unallocated dice are rolled and then ranked alongside all of their action dice in the combat line the defender does likewise adding rolled dice to those left over in their combat lines from the previous turn whoever has more skulls deals injuries equal to the difference then each pair of numbered dice is compared from highest to lowest in a similar style to the game of risk and the higher injures the lower in each case any unopposed dice will weaken the dice that remain this balance determines the cost of actions in the game the stronger actions on your board have lower numbers and so that leaves a player with a weaker combat line when it's either time to engage in combat or at the end of a turn when all action dice form the player's defensive combat line players need to manage this carefully to thrive in the game injuries suffered in combat result in the dire leaving the player's pool which reduces the player's action and combat capabilities until a separate die is spent on taking the heel action there are also ranged weapons which usually put weaker dice into your action pool but allow you to fight with fewer dice but no risk of suffering injuries in that attack as well as other equipment items which may help in attack or defense there is no player elimination when four of a player's five dice are injured the player reloads restarting albeit with only a piece of starting equipment but with all existing fame points intact there are big points on offer for being the player who lands the killing blow and forces the opponent to reload making it critical that you best time your attacks to maximize your fame lending heavily to the theme of an old combat video game or a television display points in reload are not tracked numerically but by adding these scoring arrows into your visual game track points in reload are earned for injuring your opponents causing an opponent to reload successfully either setting or disarming a trap or delivering a beacon to the central tower there are also bonus achievement points for completing whichever combination of other objectives happens to currently be most popular among the television audience the game ends immediately when a player reaches the end of their fame bar or at the end of the round when all beacons have been delivered to the central tower or the whole map has been affected by toxins which come into play gradually as part of the event cards and serve as a timer for the game the player with the most fame points wins reload can be played as an individual game by up to four players or with modified rules for a two versus two team game in this mode further fame points are on offer for healing your
