hi everyone it's Taryn and Stella from Maple University today we'll be showing you a quick how to play or overview for Monsters of Loch Lyman let's get to the game Monsters of Loch Lomond is a card game with partially hidden information in which players compete as Scottish Clans trying to banish the monsters from their myths it was designed by Robin stockel and Peter yarn vanderveek the game plays two to six players in 30 minutes and is of light to medium complexity in Monsters of Loch Island players are Scottish Clans in the Loch Lomond area the problem all of the monsters of Scottish folklore are hiding in their midst now players will take turns trying to clear those monsters and Lead their Clans to safety players begin around with four face down cards and it may only look at their bottom row of two they cannot look at or change the positions otherwise unless an effect allows it there is a closed Central Highlands deck and one card is flipped to make an open discard pile cards range in number from negative 3 to 13 and only those below the number four are not monsters the game is played in turns each turn you'll draw the top card either from the open or the closed deck and then you'll swap that card face down into your clan and discard the replace card face up if you drew a closed card you could also simply choose to discard that one and resolve the action printed on it if it has one your main aim is to get all of your monsters discarded to the open deck and by doing this reduce the total value of cards in your clan shoeing monsters away is a key means to do this whenever any other player discards a card if you know the location of a matching card yell shu the first player to do this reveals and then discards the match discard your own match and you'll have fewer cards in your hand to deal with discard an opponents match and you replace it with any card from your own Clan either way if you guess wrong then a new closed card joins your clan as punishment once you believe your clan is free of monsters wait until your turn and call sarsa each other player gets one more turn and then the Clans are revealed add up your scores lower is better and gain any tokens or bonuses for end of round abilities these will help you in subsequent rounds if the player who called sarasha is indeed monster free and has the lowest score that player also gains a victory token as bonus call Sasha with a monster still in your clan and you'll get an eight point penalty now Shuffle up all the cards and deal the next round Whoever has the lowest score after all four Victory tokens are claimed is the winner Monsters of Loch Lomond is a quick round based card game with all of the tricks and balances necessary for a competitive hidden information card game the high numbered monsters are valuable their powers will give you information or the right to mess with your opponents but discard them for those powers and you'll give your opponents a chance to share their own high value cards away and there are many interesting combos including the evil priest who turns good for an 11 Point swing if you also have a missionary or the monster eggs which hatch into baby monsters which you can use to sabotage an opponent's clan in future rounds the game leans into its theme with many featured creatures from Scottish folklore to enjoy and that's our quick health copy here of the game so the rules of components may not be final and do check out the project page for the game we'll put a link to that in the description below thanks so much for watching everything you do will help us every single comment and let us know that you're there and make sure you're doing something fun today see you next time
