Slide Quest & Cupcake Academy Board Game - Should You Play?

0:24 hi it's tyrone and stella from nipple university today we're not just going to show you one game slash toy but two because these two are quite sort of like has got that similar it's completely different game but they're both cooperative they're both fun to play and we'll show you how it goes yes they're both from blue orange games and they're both you know they're very much aimed at children they they bridge between a toy and a cooperative game and they do so in a very elegant way so we've got slide quests we've got cupcake academy as well take you through each one i'm children then i'm a child sorry because you know i really enjoy this anyways we're going to show you cupcake academy first yep so cupcake academy it fundamentally builds on the old tower of hanoi puzzle which yeah i think most most children get introduced to that at some stage that's the one where you've got all the differently sized rings and you've got to move them from one peg to another peg with a third peg in the middle and you can never put a larger disc onto a small with this this one we're dealing with a little cupcake pans there's a stack of five inside here and if you come down onto the board each player in the game will have three plates so i've set it up for three here but you can play two or four players so each player has three plates each player has a stack

1:55 of these cupcake dishes like so of all different colors and then there's one common dish in the middle and you flip up a card and then everyone has to work together within a time limit there's a timer that comes with the game to recreate this essentially and so it comes down to that of course you can't put a smaller cupcake on top of a larger cupcake and so players need to work out how they can recreate this pattern here yeah and of course that means so the time is actually um there's a same timer and you gotta finish i believe ten within the time the given time i think it was about seven minutes or so and you can see that you have to recreate that um so you need to transfer cupcake from one to another and you can only only use one hand and the middle is the transfer plate you need to end up with yes almost like that and it becomes a cooperative game because you can only handle your own pieces and transfer to each other through this middle plate yeah so it fosters that cooperation it fosters that thinking about the tara hanoi puzzle um and and yeah it's good in that way yeah i really enjoy it because i first played this with gamma 2019 that's before everything went uh down spiral 2020. sorry that's 2020 yeah 2020 yes and i like i just remember oh yeah and then i

3:26 just got it recently and there you go it's a cooperative sort of like puzzle i took it to meet up when we were in lockdown and then it's just a enjoyable cooperative game that is um also for family when we went out of lockdown yeah went out of the lockdown well gone locked down again but anyways um it'll be over soon hopefully not the game not the lockdown so that is cupcake that's cupcake academy um as you can see i i didn't get to the point of recreating that while stella was talking but you can see the way that one flows so yes so let's uh have a look at the other one so this transfer plate i think is really good there are times like oh no i need to you know move this but i don't have a space okay like i you know your your friend would be like okay i'll take it back and then well you can temporarily use this but then at the end you have to make that empty yes all right let's put this aside and i'll show you slight quest which is it's really fun one it is um toy as as terran say so this is i'm going to put it sideways like that so a slide quest it plays um one two four yes one might be a bit tough but it is i did i did also um one at that same time when i um talk about cupcake academy so this is a cooperative slide puzzle we've each got these uh tabs here on the side and we need to move the knight around the path so you need to raise that side a bit

4:57 more uh the path is here yes we're already off oh right now i'm struggling you should no don't raise yours so this is back yeah thank you and you must not no no you you yeah so we're not ah we're not must not fall into that hole the hole yes so you've got a little score tracker it gives you a number of uh number of lives to keep track of some of these levels just involve moving around a path like this so some of them just involve moving around the path some of them involve pushing guards into holes and pushing enemies into holes um completing sort of different different steps on the pathway we've got these nice 3d rocks and fences and things in here so you can see it's sideways there this is using the game box so you're just gonna take the white insert out of the box and then put these handles in and then you'll get the choose you're meant to do it from one to two so this door there's a number here so there's number six i believe six to seven so you're gonna move it from six to seven and then there's number one two two three and so on so at um increasing level of difficulties and this is actually not that easy it's just quite hard yeah so 20 different levels it sort of takes that old um marble labyrinth game that i think a lot of people played as they grew up and again it

6:29 turns it into a very cute and very and cooperative um cooperative exercise not that we're good about um playing this we just keep falling especially the higher level um the uh other ones as well i'm going to show this is six to five to six so this one here you get to place the villain over here put it sideways but you need to put it then then you need to push the fill into the hole um sort of sorry the guard and the villain this is where's that villain over here and you get to put this little um nice archways in here as well it's really cute it's got good table presents um and all and there's also uh the dynamite um level which has got the entire mat and you must not um you must it must not destroy it knock it down you can move it around but um that is a slight puzzle so there we have it um cupcake academy and slide quest um like puzzle throws likewise yes yes um both of them yeah they fit really well into that niche cooperative you know the cupcake puzzle one is educational from a presence puzzle solving standpoint oh yeah this one is yeah it's it's got that nice it's got a very cooperative element to it uh they're both cute they're both good um good toys fun games for adults young at heart look i'm doing it on my own solo almost almost went almost when darren look let me do it

7:59 yeah thank you yeah it's um i really enjoy both do you have any preference um look the i think not that you know it's probably not a fair comparison it's stupid yeah i mean i know how to solve a tower for noise so there's not a great deal of challenge in the uh academy for me so yeah the slide puzzle the slide puzzle has more interaction yeah i remember playing this yelling at each other not yelling at each other but here you go no no i go no no stop stop lifting it so it could be a bit chaotic as well as usually good puzzle chord game of good chord game like overcool yell at each other um so this is it so have you played any of those because these are not just came out these came out maybe two years ago a year ago so you probably there's a chance you have played this um have you played with family um i would recommend it i think if i'm you know much younger i would really enjoy playing this too yeah and the cooperative makes the kids not fight each other maybe maybe not in theory what
