Don't make the alpaca angry. Who knew an adorable alpaca could be so dangerous? Welcome to Flying Spit. Flying Spit is a card game featuring mechanics such as hand management, take that, player elimination, and variable player powers. Designed by Zao Weng Shu with illustrations by Shu Young Xiang and Shi Yu Xin. The game is published by Yow Fish Games in 2026. It accommodates two to seven players, takes around 30 minutes to play, and is recommended for ages eight and up. In a fictional world, travelers bring an adorable alpaca back from a mysterious land and present it to the royal court. Everyone is excited to see the new alpaca and wants to get closer to it.
But with so many people surrounding it, the alpaca starts to feel overwhelmed. To scare everyone away, it comes up with a simple solution, and that is to spit at them. In Flying Spit, players take on the roles of characters admiring the alpaca while trying to avoid getting spit on. Each player has a character card with two sides. Everyone begins on side A, where their character has a spit threshold of six and their special ability is not yet available. Once a player accumulates enough spit tokens to reach their threshold, they flip their character cards to side B. Their special ability then becomes available, giving them another chance to remain in the game. If they accumulate enough spit tokens to reach their threshold again while on side B, they are eliminated. On each turn, the active player plays one alpaca card and resolves its effect before drawing a new card. Number cards feature either positive or negative values and are used to increase or decrease the current number in the play area.
Action cards have various effects that can change how the number or cards behave. After playing any alpaca card, the active player must announce the current total number in the play area. Whenever the current number reaches zero or below, or a hundred or more, the alpaca launches a spit spray, causing the active player to receive spit tokens. If neither of these conditions is met, players can also receive spit tokens through spit warnings. Each player has number tokens, and when any of the digits of the current number match their number tokens, a spit warning is triggered, and that player receives additional spit tokens. Each character also has a unique special ability that becomes available once they flip to side B.
These abilities can give players different ways to manipulate the game and try to avoid elimination. Players continue taking turns, playing cards, manipulating the current number, and trying to avoid accumulating too many spit tokens. Once a player reaches their spit threshold on side B, they are eliminated from the game. Whenever a player is eliminated, one of the elimination tokens is flipped. Each elimination token makes the game more challenging for the remaining players as the alpaca becomes more aggressive. The game continues until only one player remains, and that player wins. Flying Spit is a fun and pretty crazy card game that can definitely get a little random at times. The game really starts picking up the pace once players begin flipping their character cards to side B and unlocking their special abilities.
Then once a player is eliminated, things ramp up even further as the difficulty increases, making it harder and harder for the remaining characters to survive the alpaca's defenses and spit attacks. I really enjoyed the different characters and their special abilities, and the game can get super crazy and wild, especially with higher player counts. There's a lot going on around the table, and the gameplay can become pretty chaotic as players try to survive and avoid being the next victim of the alpaca. I've also really enjoyed the artwork throughout the game. The illustrations across all of the components are gorgeous and adorable. And they fit the theme perfectly. The components are good as well, and I particularly enjoyed the cards and tokens.
Overall, Flying Spit is a super crazy and wild card game that I've enjoyed playing. If you don't mind a bit of luck and randomness in your games, then Flying Spit might be right up your alley. Thank you all so much for watching. Hope you enjoyed the video, and see you next time.
