Oo, that looks tasty. Welcome folks to the Hungry Gamers back with another crowdfunding preview. And today we're talking about No Puppy, designed by Tate Woo and published by Dead Alive Games. And before I get started, please do note that what you're about to see here is still in the prototype phase. And additionally, please make sure you turn on your cling on subtitles because if I make any mistakes in the rules overview, that's where you'll find the corrections. And finally, I will just say that I am friends with the publishers at Dead Alive Games and the designer and have worked with them in an official capacity in the past on other titles. Though that being said, I'm receiving no compensation for this video whatsoever. And so what this game is is it is for one of a better description a variant on the game BS. And what's going to happen is is every player will have out in front of them, and I'm only going to put two of them out for the moment, even though in a two-player game, you would actually have more, but I have the camera zoomed way in, is they will have cards starting out face up like so. And each player will also have a scorecard like so. And then in your hands, you will have a series of these puppy cards that all have different suits. And the suits mostly just matter. So you're able to kind of count the number of cards that are out there and each one has a different number on it. And the numbers are mostly what is important here. And so what's going to happen is on your turn and we'll assume it's my turn over here. You're going to take one card and

play it face down on one of the stacks on the board. And the rule is you have to place either the same number or one number higher. So placing this five would be legal over here. It would not be legal on this side. But you're going to place it face down. And you are going to declare what number you have. So I would say five. And then you wait a few seconds and anybody else at the table has the opportunity to say no no puppy. And then points get awarded. And here's the way the points work. If I place this down and I said it's a five and someone called my bluff by saying no no puppy. I flip it over and then I would receive two points for having for telling the truth and being accused of not telling the truth. If however I were to place a card and I said this is a five and I was called and I flipped it over and it was not a five then the player who called it would gain the two points. If I said this is a five and then no one challenges me and then I flip it over and it turns out that I was that I was bluffing then as before I would get two points. And there are a few cards that have certain rules that go with them.

most importantly is if you have a 13 out then the next card can actually be a one two or three and there and finally there is a wild card which one is whatever card you say it is. So I could say this is a 10 or I could say this is an 11 and it would be true. And you'll note that the next card played can be of any number. Then what's going to happen is I'll just place a few more cards out here. Once everyone's played all their cards, then you will receive bonus points for your particular stack. So in this case, you ignore the first card, but then every card after you look at does it follow the rules. So in this case, well, we have the three does not follow the rule, the four follows the rule, the 10 does not follow the rule, and the 11 follows the rule.

So I would gain two more points for having cards that follow the rules in my stack. and whoever has the most points will win that round. And that's how this game works. So, with that said, what do I like about this game? First off, right, I mean, take this sucker anywhere. This is a type of thing that honestly I I don't know if they're going to do a box for sleeve cards. So, this one looks like maybe it could fit sleeve cards, but this is probably a type of game that I would sleeve. Why? Cuz I would take it with me to the distillery where I play lots of games and just have something quick and fun to throw down. So, I I like that. This is just a prototype, but I mean, come on now. How fun is that? Also, not for nothing, that is Beatatric, the board game dog right there. And is that probably a a bribe for me to say something nice about the game? Probably. They're good guys over at Dead Alive Games. They've met Beatatric many times. Tat is a good guy that I know as well. So, take that for So, maybe take this whole thing with a grain of salt. But come on now. How cute is that? Beatrice in the game doing what she loves. Well, probably the most. She sleeps all the time. So, there she is right there. I got I love that. But on that note, it's got lots of real cute puppy art.

You can't be mad at it. There's just a bunch of cute little puppies. I love all of that. Neat stuff. Now, talking about the game itself, truth be told, I mean, come on. Look at that. It's cute as heck. But anyhow, talking about the actual game. So when Bernie and Tate explained this game to me, they said it's like playing BS with some strategy. Now, in middle school and probably some of high school, we played a lot of BS and it was always fun, but there's nothing to it. you're just lying and maybe counting cards. Like that's it. And so I was skeptical. I was very skeptical. And we played at Kublacon in the morning and I got to say it was fun. And it was fun one because I'm a bit of an idiot savant at the game, but it was fun because there really is some strategy to it. Yes, it's a lot about okay, who's a good liar around the table and who can tell the story and yes, there's some counting cards and all of that kind of comes together in an interesting way, especially because it has that little bit of ah well, I know there's only three cards of this in there and you know that and I know you know that and I know that you know that there's only six cards left around the table so that means one of us has to have so there's

that part of the game to it which is always very interesting but just the simple bit about the way that you're placing the cards, then the cards will also score points for wherever they are at the end of the game suddenly adds a little layer of strategy to this 15-minute game. And that's really satisfying. It's really interesting to try to have the moment where you're like, "Okay, I'm pretty sure I can get two points if I put the card over here." However, that will give that other player a point at the end of the game, guaranteed. So, is it worth it to me to maybe not get any points and give them a point? Or I'm going to give them one point to get two. So, that's only a one point swing for me against that player. And then when you add into it, there's the wild card, which you're probably gonna play on yourself, but you don't have to. It is an interesting game for something that is teachable in 2 and 1/2 minutes or whatever, plays in 15 minutes. I can't complain. It is something that I thought, you know what? Excuse my language here. I thought the whole thing sounded like but it's not. It plays like with some actual with some actual strategy. That's all I gota say. That's fun. Now, with that said, what are my quibbles with the game? It plays best

with at least four or five. That's when it gets the most interesting. You can play with lower numbers and you have multiple stacks where you can put cards out. And it was fun. We played with Micro Max and we found out Micro Max is the worst liar in the world. But he is such a bad liar. he became kind of a good liar at the game and finished at a close second. So, still fun, but definitely better at the higher player count. And then the only the only other thing I can say about it because there's is not a lot going on here. It's a super super light game is well, do you like the idea of this bluffing BS? If you do, you're going to like it. If you don't like that, this isn't going to make you like it. But that's it. As always, if I made any mistakes in the rules overview, I'm a putt because there's what, three rules to this game. But let me know in the comments with the time stamp. I'll get that into cling on subtitles. As always, if you found this video useful, please like, subscribe, share, maybe become a channel member. As always, thank you so much for watching. Have a wonderful, wonderful day.
