One of the best parts about board game conventions like Gen Con is you get to see upcoming games. You get to preview unreleased games. Here are five upcoming games from Gen Con I thought looked awesome. In Drops of Evil, you are witches trying to brew potions. You have various workers and those can get you ingredients in different ways. Like one can just go to an ingredient spot and get you the ingredient, but another one can go between two ingredients and hopefully you get what you need. and another one can go to any ingredient in this row and stuff like that. I'm a huge fan of the game Bang and Black Flag is from the same people that did Bang. This is also a hit and roll game, but it's a little bit more complex, maybe a little bit more strategy. You are still playing on various teams and you are attacking each other's pirate ships and there's no player elimination. In every round of Mercenaries Wanted, you will draft some cards, and you are looking for cards that combo well together, have synergies together, and every round, there's also an interesting system where you have to cut some cards and keep others. In Barerilloce, you are tearing off sections of a sheet. You have this booklet with all these different sheets in it, and you're tearing off pieces of it to make different groups of chocolates. Starlines is a deck building engine building game where you are building these lines and the length of those lines will get you the power of various actions and then you can buy cards and rearrange your deck. So maybe one round you're like, "Ooh, I need to go for money, so I need to make that line long."
