That was a really good turn. I keep saying this. It's going just too well at the moment. So, it can only go wrong quite soon. Hey everyone, this is Attackers and today I'm going to bring you my playthrough and review of Sally Face Strange Nightmares. I got the deluxe edition here designed by Steve Gabry and published by Mass2 Media. Steve Gabry also um did the graphic design for this game and he is also the developer of the video game this is based on. Right. So pretty cool that the developer of the video game also made the board game which I really can appreciate. All right, before we get started, grab yourself a cup of tea and let's go. Oh yeah, that's the right temperature. But that's also because I had to set up everything here in the living room because we do need a bit more table space here. All right. So, this is based on the video game Sally Face. Um, and we are investigating strange occurrences at the Allison apartments and we are exploring the apartments as Cell and his friends. I'm going to show you the solo mode today. The solo mode is a little bit different than the multiplayer mode, but not by a lot. So, I have this really cool sleeve here because I do have the deluxe edition. Um, that means if you like take off the sleeve, you see like the real cover, like the real box art, the regular one here. Um, and this is

like also like the design of the video game of the rest of the game here. All right, so um, a huge thanks to Master Media for providing me with a review copy. Looking forward to showing this game to you today. All right, so before we get started, as usual, I will just quickly set up the game. All right. And that is the set of the game. It looks like quite a lot, but actually it's not that much. Um, we have the base game components, and then we always have like these story boxes. There are four in the game. This one is the first chapter called Another Dead Body. Um, those of you who have played the video game might or will know the story or like the main story beats of what we will be playing today because that is like how the video game starts as well. So, I guess spoilers of course, right, for the first story. Um, so if you don't want to be spo uh if you don't want to have like too heavy spoilers, you should just start watching my video and then you can like turn off whenever you got a good idea of the game or want to play it yourself or whatever or maybe want to play the video game. But, um, of course, story spoilers, right? So, um I will put that aside. And these little boxes, they come with additional item cards, additional department cards here.

Um and the finale cards and also the story cards. We have the story deck here. And the story deck is always in a specific order, right? I will say something about that in my review later on, but that means like the story is always fixed, right? So, if you know the story, if you also kind of know like what's coming up, then this um this will not be a surprise to them anymore. But you will still have random stuff happening with like the items, the finale cards and all the apartment cards that are all like randomized, right? Like the apartment item cards, as I said, there are like base cards that you have in every episode. And then you have like these chapter cards that are also shuffled in there. I have done that already. What do we see here? Well, um let me just guide you through what you see here. So, first of all, we have the apartment uh the we have the building here, right? The apartment building. And here are like all these different uh doors that tell you where we have to like face specific challenges. I will get to that a little bit later. That's with these cards here obviously, right?

Because they look the same. We have S here. We are playing solo. So, I decided to play S, which is like the main character of the game, the video game as well as the board game here. I just I just took him. Um, and he will be placed on floor four because that's what the character board says up here. Then we have the corruption track here. Um, this is like corruption like goes up here and we don't want it to go up all the way here because then we lose, right? Um, it's kind of like the basis you have to defend in other games such as Grreyfold for example in Neon's End, right? Where you like have like a specific number amount of HP and you don't want that HP to go down to zero. Here it's like similar. You don't want the track all the way to go up all the way up there. There is like this consecration token here that we can activate that kind of like stops corruption for a little while. Up here are just some further components that we will need later. Here we have two two further applications. We have the apartment room. We can go here at the end for the finale cards. Little spoiler, but we will get to that in just a moment. And then here we have the treehouse. We can go here and we can like um we can like like refresh our charge tokens. And then we can like also gain health and sanity which is very important. There will be no enemy or mystery cards here. Mystery cards being these apartment cards. I always call them apartment cards. I think they're called mystery cards. So, uh, don't be too mad that I might be using other words here. Then here we have our four friends. These are all ghosts. And this one is active. Larry. I just decided for Larry to be active at the beginning.

These are only for the solo mode. You will not have those in the multiplayer game because in a multiplayer game, of course, you will have different characters, right? you will interact with each other and you will like take turns like trying to solve the mysteries. I'm by myself so I'm at a huge disadvantage and this is why I have these friends here that are helping me. You have the story deck. Um this is like the win condition to go through the entire story deck. More on that in just a moment. Here we have the dice that we were using each round. We have our charge token here because we have an item here, our starting hiding cells mask that moves ourself ourselves a different player. we only have ourselves. So it will move us to a any location. Um but we need to use our charge to for that. So I will just do it like this. Turn that over when we have used it. And then here we have cells curse. There are specific points like in the game that are triggered uh where the curse is triggered which is very bad.

This always makes me lose one sanity and also remove one progress from all mysteries at the location I'm at at the moment. At the location I'm at is always the floor I'm at. Last but not least, um we also have like specific abilities here for the different floors that we can use when we are on those floors and have the dice to spend. So that is what you see here. So how do we win and how do we lose? We win when we go go through the entire story deck and manage to finish the last card. Easy as that. Uh we lose um in in se several different ways. So usually in a multiplayer game um whenever um one of the health or sanity um are reduced to zero we have 15 then uh that's not a loss condition but in a multiplayer game when all players have um have lost one of those like reduce one of those to zero then the multi in a play multiplayer game you would lose. In a solo game that's not the case. In a solo game you lose whenever the corruption track goes up to 20. But if we don't have health and sanity anymore, we need to lose some of that. That instead is direct to the corruption track, right? So we definitely still want to keep our health and sanity in check. We can do that by also using the treehouse off and on, right? That is quite an important component here. Actually, this is how you win and lose the game. So what I will do now, I will now sip have another sip of tea and also maybe brew a little bit more because this will be a longer video here. and then I will just start playing and explain like the game while I'm playing. That's like the format that

most of you enjoy the most. All right, so I'm back and ready for the video. So, um I have just laid down my character as you can see it. One last thing before we get started. Um these components here are, as I said, for the deluxe edition, right? So, I have like these really nice acrylic stand also for like all of the enemies here. These look like really really nice. I really like those. Um, also we have like these glow-in-the-dark dice here. These ones, right? Um, and also like this is acrylic an acrylic token. These are acrylic tokens here, right? So these are all like for the deluxe edition. I'm not sure about all of the changes in retail edition, but at least like these I think are cardboard if I'm not mistaken. And like everything acrylic is not acrylic, I think. And also these dice are like regular dice in the normal version I think. So, but I'm not 100% sure like what the differences are, but I'm sure you can find uh that information online. I'm mainly here to like show you how the game plays instead of like analyzing all the components.

So, how the game works is actually quite simple. It is also like depicted here on your turn order track on your your little gear boy here. How is it how it's called? Right. So, um, what we first do is we always reveal the next mystery or story card. Um, but only if we haven't finished like whatever is written on there. So, let's just do that. Let's just start revealing those. And this one says, "A death in 403. You just moved into Addison Apartments. Box is still stacked and unopened. You hear voices in the hall. Apparently, something horrible has happened in room 403. There are cops guarding the door. Someone mentioned that the room belongs to Mrs. understand. Listen, there's a rumor that she might have been murdered. Oh, okay. Well, that doesn't sound good. And then there is like an arrow on here that says next. That means we just reveal the next card. So, we have a police tape here.

You see there's a room 403, right? So, what we do now is now we just um take this one and put it on the fourth floor. It says here 403, right? and also says, "Place a cop on your floor." So, we will just take a cup and put him right here between the elevator and the rooms. Now, the reveal story card still shows next, right? Because we play the mystery card there. So, we are now taking another story card. Another dead body. Well, that is how the chapter is called. Place two cops on floor will do. Oh, quite a lot of cops here. See, we already have three cups. Oh, let me just put place them more there. Well, I should just go to the left here like this. Usually, you would have more room because you would be standing them up, right? But for the video, I will not do that. Place the apartment room and treehouse next to the apartment boards.

I already did that over there. Shove the finale cards. I already did that as well. And deal three of them face down in the apartment room. I already shoveed those, but let's do another cut. And then we place three of them face down in the apartment room. A little spoiler, these will be well the finale. Um this will be the last thing we will need to do in order to win the scenario. And these we don't need anymore, but we'll just keep them lying down there. Why not shuffle the mystery cards? I already did. Deal four of them face up to the indicated locations. So what that means is the following. I will now take the top four cards here. I will now deal them. So that means we take the first one here. This one says 104. So we take the first floor. We put it right there.

Usually we would now check the rune up here in the left. And if that type of rune is already in a different on a different card, we would trigger that card, which is bad, right? So I will just put that one right here. Actually, that wasn't correct. The first cop I put here, I wouldn't have to put it there because it hasn't been triggered, right? So that was actually wrong. Okay. Then here we have 101. We'll just put that here. That is broken elevator. And then here we have 401 also in the fourth floor. Malignant migraine. And then here we have 502. You'll put that one right there. So um there are several things that um usually happen. So um um if we place a card here and has the same rune, then we trigger all of the runes with the same rune, which is bad because they usually have like bad effects. like this one. Place a cup on your floor or here lose two health and to sanity which is amazingly bad. Um and also if you put a you see there are only two doors on each floor, right? So if you had to put a third card there then uh we would have to remove a different one and that's bad because we lose progress on those cards.

But more um on that in just a little moment. All right. Um so this one is done. We have done everything that is said on here. Um and now it says next. So, we take the next card. Cause for distraction. If only the cops would leave the crime scene, you might be able to see what happened. Cook up a scheme to distract the cops and get into room 403. That's the one we put right there. Remember, that's the one we need to get into. Whenever a mystery is placed, also add a cop on that floor. This effect ends when you solve police tape, which is that card. So whenever he plays a mystery, he also plays a cop on that floor. That's pretty bad. And now it says like stop. So we don't continue through the deck now. Solve the police tech mystery to keep going. All right.

So let's leave that there. Um I hope I will will not forget to put like cops on the floor whenever we reveal mystery cards. All right. So we have done that. Then we refresh our charge token. It already is refreshed. And then we roll our ability dice. We have these six standard dice here. They have like different symbols on here. Um, and we have our own ability die that belongs to Cell. Each character has their own ability die. So, let's just roll all of that. There we go. All right. So, and we have a few things we can use here. So, you see like these have like different symbols here like the guitar for example um or this pentagram here. And you see on these cars there are symbols as well like six guitars, six intellect tokens like the gear boy tokens uh symbols. Oh, like actually all of them. Um, and we can do different things with our dice.

So, what we can do is we can just choose any dice um in order to move to any location. We can also use any die in order to defeat a policeman because it might be a little bit small, but it says down here any die. Other enemies have like different uh different things you need to spend in order to get rid of them. And what we can also do is add progress to a card, right? So, for example, this one up here would need six guitars. I could spend two guitars in order to put two progress tokens from here on there. And as soon as we have six progress tokens, we um we can remove that card and gain a reward. Right? Now, you may think, okay, but that is a little bit random, right? It kind of is. But what we can do, we can actually use um use two rerolls, right?

just like in yatsi or dice thrown. So we can take any number of dice and reroll them. We can do that up to two times. So rolled three times so to speak, right? And one thing to there are two things to keep in mind. First of all, this mask here on this blue cell die is these are wilds, right? This is very good. These demon tones cannot be rerolled. They are put aside. That's like the push your luck mechanism because as as soon as we have three of those, this is pretty bad, right? because um this will then uh trigger our our curse here. And um also you have like this fingerprint like this swirl icon here. This one always corresponds with the one on our character board which is a guitar. So at the moment we have two guitars, a third one, three guitars, one like demon icon here that we cannot roll and two pentagrams and also here two wilds. Not too bad, right? We could like uh start to solve this mystery here. We need to solve all the other mysteries as well because otherwise they will like trigger because of the runes and also we need to free up all of that, right? Because as soon as you put a third card in the floor as I said, the other mystery fails, right? And that is bad because then we have to do that um that bad effect here on the right and that is usually putting forward that um that token here which we really don't want to do, right? We really don't want to have the corruption all the way up there. So, um, what I think I will do, I will reoll the two pentagrams because there's no way we can use them, right? So, let me just reroll these two. All right. Yeah,

we have two of these gear boys. That's really good. We need six of them to continue in the story. And I think with that, I am kind of happy actually. Also, one thing to note, we can only solve um solve a crime here as like solve a card here if we actually have um disposed of all the enemies on that floor, right? So, we need to get rid of those first. But I will now lock in the dice. So, what we do is we just lock in the dice. Um let let me just leave them here on the board and whenever I use them, I put them there. So, now we go to the next phase, which is act by solving mysteries. So, now we can um use our items here. We can now use dice in order to move to locations, dispose of enemies, and solve mysteries. Right? That's all we can do. Um, so, uh, first of all, we need to get rid of these two policemen, right? I would do that with two guitars, right? I would just spend these two and get rid of these two, uh, these two policemen. Um, thematically, I don't know, playing guitar like somebody's playing guitar to, um, distract them. I'm not quite sure. Um, and now we are trying to put as much progress here on here as possible. Um, and also we can use dice in order to uh look uh to um do all these effects here on the left. You see here after locking your dice, you may reroll all demon dice, which I will do. Oh, that's another gear boy. Yeah, perfect. Two, three, four, five. Oh, that's almost enough, but not quite. Okay. Then what I will do is I will use these uh two,

three, four, five um five gear boys. I will use all of them in order to put five progress on this card. We need six. Two, four, five. And we have five already, which is really nice. And now I dropped the token. There we go. All right. And we have the last one here. I will just use my item here in order to move to any location. I will just move up here to use the guitar to put another progress on here. And that was already my turn pretty much, right? And now we will pass our turn clockwise. But since I'm the only player, we don't do that. We just restart the turn. So what happens now is now we reveal the next mystery or story card. We can't reveal the next story card because we haven't progressed here yet, right? So what I will do, I will have to reveal a mystery card instead. So, we just turn over that card and then uh we place it like on the floor belongs to 302, which would be right here. Now, we check the rune. Um, and the rune is the same as that one here. So, we have to activate this card here. This says movement cost an additional die. I hope I don't forget.

And also, we lose two sanity, which is not good, right? Okay, there we go. Um, and then we refresh our charge token and also our our ability. By the way, I wouldn't have to put it like 90°, right? That wasn't necessary. And then we roll the ability dice. So, now you kind of know how the game works, right? Um, I will like show you a few more things, but one thing you don't know yet is the following, and that's the ghosts here. These ghosts are our friends that are like helping us solve this mystery. They're all deactivated at the moment. whenever I roll three masks um or whenever I um like I just only have to roll them. I can still use them, right? Or whenever I spend two of these swirl icons here, then I can activate one of these friends, right? I can use them like an activated one as movement.

I will just turn it 90° and then I can move to any location. So, I could have also done that last round, but I just Well, actually, I think I would have done that and moved back here because we want to finish that up, right? Um, and what I can also do is just use their charge token in order to do that um ability that they have. And this one here for Larry, who is active at the moment, says, "Solve a non-story mystery at your location. Lose one heart or one sanity for each missing progress." That's why I didn't do it last round because this one is really good, but I will lose like a lot of health and sanity, but it can come in clutch at some point maybe, right? So, I could use it right now and just solve that police tape and just lose one sanity or health. That would actually be okay. But let's see what we roll. And another another two things are um I can also deactivate an active friend in order to prevent like one of these the corruption token to go up one. Um, and if I ever roll three of these demon dice, right, then I also would have to deactivate one friend. That's how these work. You only have those in a solo game, which is relevant for today. All right, I think now you know pretty much everything.

Let's just roll the dice here. Okay, so we have one gear boy. We need that for here. We have Oh, two demons. This is pretty bad. Oh, I don't want to roll a third one, actually. So, I think I would just have to deal with whatever I have here. This one plus heart. That means we gain one health. We already have all the health we need. So I will just put this aside. We don't need that. All righty. So um also what I forgot. I told you I would forget. Put one cop on the floor here because we added one room card. Okay. So I will lock all of these dice. Um because I don't want to roll a third one of these demon dice. Um but we are on that floor. So now we can reroll these two. Two guitars. H I don't need guitars actually. But okay, so I think let me think what we can do. So let me first spend that gear boy one here in order to put last the last progress token on here. That means we have solved it, right? So we can just uh take these off and remove the card. Uh let me just put it right here. And it says like solve the police tape mystery to keep going. So now we know right that the next round whenever we draw the next myster uh whenever we have to draw the next mystery or story card we we can uh draw the next story card which is good.

All right. So, let's continue. Up there, we have already started, right? So, let's just use the pentagram here to move one up here. Actually, we don't need to use the pentagram. Let's use the ghost of Larry to move up here. And I would have three guitars plus one more. That's four guitars. That's pretty nice. So, that's four progress. One, two, three, four. And we only need one more progress here. Um, so let me see now what I could do. I could use that special ability, right? I would lose one health or sanity and could solve that. That might be an idea. I think I will actually do that. I think I will actually do that.

This one here. Let's see. We also have one pentagram. Place a consecration on the corruption track. That is actually good. I think I will do that. So let us do different things. First of all, I will use um the ability Larry in order to solve one nontory mystery, which is that one here. And we lose one health or sanity based on uh the pro to it um missed and that was one. So, we lose one health. Okay, that's fine. This one is solved. That's really good. So, we have freed up a little bit over there. That is not too bad. Um, then I will use my ability here to move me to another location. I will move down here because this one says if I spend a pedagram, I can place a consecration on the corruption track. I will do that. I will put that right here. Right. So, next time this would move one up. Instead, I've just removed the consecration. So, that's good. We are fine there. I think that was a pretty good turn actually. Yeah, I think that was a pretty good turn. All right, we start the next turn. We now don't draw a mystery. We actually draw the next story card. So, let's just see what we got here. Chalk outline. As you enter room 403, the chalk outline and splashes of blood paint is seen. You have heard that Mrs. Sanderson loved collecting valuable toys, and she had all sorts of expensive looking trinkets throughout her room. Suddenly, something suspicious catches your eye. You notice a gap in her collection of toy ponies and there

are bloody prince nearby. Maybe the killer was after something in particular. Missing toy 403. So you put that right here. And uh whenever we um whenever this one is triggered, we suffer two corruption. We need five guitars. Well, that is our symbol. So that is good exit strategy. You love to explore this room all night, but you can hear the cops roaming the halls outside. You need to get out of here before you are caught. Suffer one corruption, which we don't do because we put the consecration there. Place two cops on your floor. Well, actually, we are not even up there. We are down here. So, we will have two cops down here. It's good that we moved. It is very good. And now it says stop. Solve the missing toy mystery and one other mystery to keep going. So we need to solve two mysteries. This one here and a different one. Ah, I shouldn't have solved that that dark ritual yet because that would have been a breeze otherwise. But that's the way it is. All right, refresh the charge tokens here. Also, put him back here.

Didn't I have three masks round last round? I think I could have refreshed one of those, but I'm not quite sure. All right, let's roll our dice up here. All righty. So, we have two demons again. I hate this. I absolutely hate this. So, we have two pentagrams, which is pretty bad. We can use one of them to place a consecration here again. Okay, that's good because we will lose uh we might suffer a little bit here. Uh we can lose use one to move. That's okay, but it's not perfect. We will gain one health. That is good. Yeah, this is really not good what we're doing here. But let's just kind of work with that. So, let's just leave all of that. I cannot reoll these two, but I can use these two to move or to remove a cop, right? So, I will do that in just a moment. First, I will use the pentagram here um in order to put the consecration one back here on that token. Uh then I might use these two demon ones in order to remove these two cops, right? Yeah, I think I will do that.

Um, then I will use my own movement in order to move up here. I will use this one here to gain one health back, which is good. Come on. By the way, we can also heal back up when we're down to zero. Just saying, right? Um, and then I will use the pentagram in order to remove that cop. And then I will use these two here in order to put two progress tokens on this member. Okay, I think that works quite well. That wasn't a horrible move. All right, next next round. So now we don't do that, right? Instead, we draw a mystery card. We don't place a cop um on that floor where we put the mystery card because well um it doesn't say that anymore, right? That was the the other card. Okay, this one is 402, which is bad. This is this floor here, right? So what we will have to do is we will have to remove one of those and fail them. We can't fail this one here, right? Because that's a story one.

So, we have to fail this one here. And this one says gain one corruption if we fail it. Well, we have the consecration token at least, which is good. So, it doesn't happen any. We put that one here. And now we check that rune. That rune is also down here. So, we also place two cops at our location, which is not so good, right? So, you see it's like a lot of like crisis management like in a lot of um cooperative and solo games, right? Just one thing to mention. All right. So, let me have another sip of tea and then we can continue. All right. So, um we now need to um refresh the charge token here and then we can continue. So, what do we have? So, I would like to finish that one up. We have one demon. Only one. Okay, we can work with that. I don't I want to I would like to reroll this one because we have full health. Um these two gear boys I would like to keep. and also the wilds. I don't really need the pentagram. So, I will reroll these two.

We have a demon. And we have this special symbol here, which is bad because that will always triggers our curse. And our curse is lose one sanity. So, we're down to 12. And also, we remove one progress from all mysteries at your location. Well, that's bad. Okay, that is pretty bad. Also, the cursor is always triggered on these red on these red uh um spaces here. Okay. Well, uh let me see. Well, we can reroll one more time. Let me reroll that one more time. Okay, that is nothing. Okay, I'll just put that aside. Okay. Um what do we do? I will use these two here to remove these two cops again because they're really annoying. And then we use these four dice here in order to put four prog troers on here.

And whenever we do that, you see we have five on there. So we actually solve that mystery. That's good. We don't get a reward, but at least we get rid of that mystery. Also, I will put one progress token here on our story card just to note that we have like um that we have solved like one mystery. Now we also need to solve that one here. All right, that was already our turn. So, we draw a new mystery card. 504 up here. This one triggers this one down here. Movement costs one additional die again. I think I missed that. The other turn. And also, we lose what? Two sanity. We're down to 10, which is pretty bad. Time is ticking down somehow, right? Okay. So, let's roll our dice here. Um, wait. This one lets us refresh our charge token so we can like move more often. I think I might actually use that. And this one as well for deconsecration. We have we have four guitars which isn't too bad. I would need one more guitar. Ah, you know what? I would actually reroll these two here. Okay, another demon, which is bad.

And we trigger all curse. Horrible. So, uh, we lose one more sanity. That was bad. I shouldn't have pushed my luck here. And we we remove one progress from all mysteries all location which is not a thing. Let me reload that one. Okay. Nothing. Alrighty. This doesn't didn't work too well. Um so what will I do? Let me let me let me think. Let me think. You know what? I will of course move up here. Then I will spend these four guitar uh guitars here to put four progress on here. It's better than nothing. We still have like these demons here. Uh but that actually, you know what? I could use one of those to move the treehouse. And then once per turn, we can refresh our charge tokens, which doesn't really matter. And we gain either four health, four sanity, or two of each. And I will actually gain four sanity up to 13. And then I will use that demon die to move back here on that floor. I think that worked quite well. Um, yeah, better than nothing, I suppose. Okay, next round. We have the next mystery card here, which is a question mark. That means we can put it anywhere. So, let me just put it down here. the spirit board.

Okay. And this one will trigger this one here. So, we suffer one corruption and roll the ghost dice this turn. That is pretty bad because the ghost die is the green one here. And we roll that and we lose one health. Actually, everybody would lose one health, but we are playing alone. So, that's how that works. And then also this one here is triggered. Place two cops at your location. Well, that's bad. By the way, you never trigger like the rune of the card you just placed, right? All right. So, it's our turn again. So, let's just roll these dice. Okay. So, I need one guitar. That's fine. I I'd have that. Um, this one is good for gaining one health. I will keep that. These are also like a lot of guitars. I don't really need those actually, right?

And I also don't need those really. But what I could do, I I need two to remove these two cops, right? For example, these two. And then I would have three that I don't really need, right? Um but then again, we could also go down here and start like removing stuff here. That wouldn't be too bad, you know. But let me roll the guitar. That's a pentagram. That's also okay, you know. Let's do this. Let's keep it like this. I think that's fine. So, we use this one here in order to heal one. Okay. So, we're doing okay with 15 and 13. That's fine. Then I will use these two to remove these two cups just to distract them. Uh then I will what would I do then? Then I will use that one guitar in order to uh solve that mystery. Let me put that right. Let me put that back here. And also put another token on here so we know we have done that.

Um, and then I will use the movement here of Larry. I forgot to refresh him last time. And move down here, spend that pendagram in order to place a consecration on the corruption track. I think that's a good idea. And then I will use my own movement here, my S's mask item to go down here and use these two gear boys to put two progress on the police investigation because this is like the first card that if we solve it, we actually get something. We gain an item and items are very helpful. All righty. I think that was a pretty decent turn. All right, so now we don't reveal the mystery card. We reveal the next story card because we have solved that fanboy. While casually investigating your new neighbors, you're invited in by Charlie Mansfield. He wants to show you his toy collection that he's absolutely obsessed with. As he sips his Addison tea, he tells you how he has finally completed his set of glitter ponies. Well, interesting. We suffer one corruption, but we have the consecration token on there, so that's fine. All right, we continue. Glitter pony 204 goes right here. keep this card upon solving it. All right, because it's an item we collect, right? We need that later on. Then seven guitars and if we ever trigger it, we suffer one corruption. All right, let's continue.

The Smoken Pony. When Charlie shows you his new prize toy, you gasp in horror at the sight of blood stains at the bottom of the little pink pony. Stop. Solve the little pony mystery and two other mysteries to keep going. So, we need three mysteries this time. That's a lot. All right, let's get going. Let's see what we get here. We get one demon, which is bad. Oh, we have like four guitars here. We need those all for the pony. That's actually pretty good. We trigger our curse, which is bad. That means we lose one sanity. And also, we remove one progress from each token at our location. Um, okay. But I think I can almost keep it like this. Let me reroll this one here. Yes, two mask. Two masks.

Very good. I think I'm fine. I'm fine with that. So, h this one I forgot to refresh again. And this one as well. So, several things. Let me see what we can do. So, first of all, I will move up here to the glitter pony, I think, with the ghost of Larry's um ability. Move up here. And then I will spend four dice here for the guitar right here. Let me think. Let me think. And then I will spend these two as well. Two more. So we have six. What I will then do is activate Larry's ability. Oh no, I can't do that because that is a story. That's a story card. We can't do that.

Um, oh, but I wanted to do something different. I have another idea. Um, then I will use my Oh, no. I will put the I will use this one here in order to put like the consecration token back on the corruption token. And then ah, it's a lot what I'm trying to do here. And then I will use my own ability to move up here and then use this demon die to move one progress from any mystery to another. So I can move this one up here. So now we have seven what we need, right? So we have solved this mystery which is amazing. So I will just put that here where my items are. Right? And also I will put one token on here to denote that we have solved one of three mysteries. That was a really good turn.

I keep saying this. So, it's going just two at the moment, so it can only go wrong quite soon. All right, so next turn, we draw one of those. 404 lost 404. Get it? 44 not found. Very, very good. We put that on floor number four. We need five gearbox characters. Uh, five gearbox tokens, I mean. And there are like a lot of things that happen uh that Oh, place your character on this mystery. You may only work on solving this mystery. Ooh, that is pretty bad. That is pretty bad. As soon as it's triggered, it's not triggered yet, so that's fine. But that is actually pretty bad. All right. Well, I guess that's the way it is. Uh, we should get would have to get rid of that quite soon. All right. Let me roll these dice here. So, we would have three, four guitars.

That'll be fine for solving that mystery here. Maybe one demon. Okay, one gear boy. Uh, what do we do? Like there are like lots of those here, right? That's not too bad. That's not too bad. Let me reroll these two. Okay, a pentagram. Sure. Let me reroll that one as well. And we gain one health, which we don't need. Okay, so let me put that aside. Um, all right. What can we do? I will use Okay. I always forget to refresh this stuff here. So, I I will use Larry to move down here. Then I will spend these four dice here. Uh these four guitars to add four progress here. That's four.

Um what else can we do? Not too much actually. This wasn't a very good role to be honest. What we could do, we could move to the treehouse to heal up a little bit. We could do that, right? Um, that might actually be the best idea because we can't place the consecration on the crotch track. We already we have already done that, right? Um, but actually, I don't think I really want to um want to heal my sanity because when we ever we reach 10 or less sanity, we unlock our second token here, which isn't too bad. So, maybe I don't want to heal. Is there anything else I can do? Not really, but I roll like a lot of guitars. So, what I can do is I can do another movement. Move up here and then use that die here in order to move one progress from one mystery to another.

And I will just move that one up here because that one will be also necessary. We need to solve that quite soon, I think. And then we use this one to move another step maybe up here. Okay, it's not perfect, but I think this is something we can do. All right, next turn. Let's see what we get here. Tormented spirits 303 right here. Uh, seven pentagrams we need for that. Uh, and now we trigger lots of stuff. First of all, here we suffer one corruption or we don't roll the ghost dye this turn. All right, so we just take the ghost dice, this one here, and we just roll it this turn. All right. Um, then down here, place a spirit on this floor. Spirits are these fine young gentlemen.

Um, and we can defeat them by spending a pentagram token. Or we can defeat them by losing two uh sanity, which isn't too bad. We could get another one of our activation tokens. We don't need it yet, but maybe sometime. And then this one here, place two cops at your location. Oh man, it's getting crowded here. Oh, it's getting really crowded. We need to get rid of all of these uh all of these different mysteries. Okay, let's see. We have one. Oops, that was a demon. We have one demon. Okay, we have three wilds, which is pretty nice. And since we have three sally faces, we can actually activate one of our friends. And since it's looking so bad with all of these cards here, I think I will actually use uh activate Todd because what Todd does is we can use the charge token, place it on any rune card at the beginning of our turn uh on any mystery card and that rune ability will not trigger in case a card is drawn. I think that will really help us. I think that's not too bad. So, let's have this one here. All right, cool. So, what will we reroll? Um, I want to finish this one here. I need gear boys. I have these three. Uh, we lose one health, by the way. Not great. Um, I need two dice. Anything to get rid of those. And I would need one more gear boy. So, what I will do is I will just

roll this one here and just hope that I get one. I do. That is nice. I'll keep it like this. I think I'm happy with that. And now after long hair dies, you may reroll all demon dice. We'll do so. Another gear. That's good. So I will spend these two here in order to get rid of the two cops. That is important. Get rid of those guys. And then I will spend two, four of those. Will I spend four of those? Yeah, I think I will spend four of those in order to finish that mystery here. So let's just put that right here. And I will put a token here. So, one more mystery and then we can continue with the story. That's good. Then I will use one movement to go. Where do we go? We go down here and then there are several things we can do.

I think what I will do, I will actually lose two sanity in order to defeat the spirit. And that now gives us the second charge token. We don't need it yet, but as soon as we get like another item, which we will uh get soon here on these purple ones, we receive items. And also maybe down here when we solve that. So um then we have it. And then I will use another movement maybe my own movement but also I can like use my mask twice right with two charge tokens. So it's just good. Now I have a lot of movement, right? So I will do that movement to go to the to the treehouse. I will now refresh and I will gain four sanity back just like that. And then I will move back and I will actually move here just so that we can reroll our demon dice in case we need to. And I think that's okay. That's fine for now. With this one, we can't really do any Well, actually, sure.

Sure, we can. I could have instead I could have moved down here. Um, then I will use that mask to put one more progress on here. Actually, you know what? Let us move uh use Larry's ability to finish that one up here. We need to suffer two damage in any way. Um, let us suffer two. Yeah, I guess like sanity goes down very quickly usually. So, let's use health like this. And we're fine because now we don't uh draw a mystery card, but a story card, which is good, which we will do now. So, let's store a card here because we have solved three mysteries. Hatched plan. Charlie must be the murderer, but the cops aren't listening. You decide to steal the bloodstained litter pony, which we did, and take it to the detective as evidence. You know Charlie will never let you walk away with one of his prized possessions without a fight.

So you hatch a plan to spike his favorite drink. Addison tea with your dad's sleeping pills. First of all, we suffer two corruption. Um here we get an item card. I will draw one. Put it right here. We will look at that in just a moment. And then place two cops on your floor. We'll do. There we go. Then we continue. Addison T room 103. We keep this card upon solving it. We need five gear boys. And now we need to fail one of those. Um, let us fail. Oh, let us fail this one here, I guess. And if we fail this one, we get another corruption. And that triggers our curse.

So, you see now I'm losing a little bit of control. We trigger our curse. So we lose one more sanity and also we remove one progress from all mysteries at our locations. There is no any that's fine. Okay. Um then let's continue here and then we look at our item sleeping pills. Keep this card upon solving it. Um all right. So that goes on 402 right here. Six panagrams. All right. Let me continue. Addison T please. Addison T please. And thank you. You say to Mr. Addison through his mail slot. Hopefully, he hasn't run uh run out of the alluring liquid, you think yourself as you wait for him to return. Stop. Solve the Addison tea and sleeping pills mysteries to keep going. Put this one here and that one right here. All right.

So, then we draw an item. Paintbrush. Reoll up to two non demon dice. All right. Very cool. Let's put that uh let's put that right here. like this. And this one says like dye. That means that we have to like usually it says like which kind of dye we have to spend in order to use that. It doesn't tell us of any dice like that at the moment. So um yeah. So I guess we don't have to spend any dice for that. Maybe we can only use it once. I'm not sure. I'm not I don't think we can like rule as often as you want to, but maybe we can. Um this isn't um really similar rules. And I will say something about the rule book um later in my review. Okay, so let's just roll. We need six pentagrams and we need five gear box. Oh, we have a two demons already.

That is bad. That is really bad. Oh, by the way, I would have moved back um to that uh to that um floor later on. So the cops would have added being been added here. I just forgot to do that. Let me just um refresh everything here. All right. So, um I have three masks. That's good. The guitars don't help me. The gear boy is okay. So, let's reroll these two and hope that we don't have a demon die. We don't. Pentagram is good. Guitar doesn't help us. So, let me reroll that as well. And that is another guitar. Okay. Well, that's the way it is. Okay. So um then let us see what we can do. So we need to spend two dice to get rid of these cops. We have to let's so let's spend these two. Oh, I can reroll these two by the way. Okay. Two demon dice again. I will spend those two to get rid of these two cops. Then I will spend one two three four. Four of these masks here uh in order to put four tokens on there. By the way, we have three cell masks, which means we can actually um activate another one of those. Now, let me see what these do again. Ashley at the start of each turn place Ash's charge token on a mystery card. The mystery card rule will not trigger.

What's the same ability as to that's not too bad. Then we can like mitigate a lot. And this one here, move any number of enemies from your location to another and lose um insanity per enemy moved. No, I don't want to do that. Let's do Ashley. That is pretty nice. That's pretty good. I didn't do it this turn because we didn't uh we didn't draw any mystery card, but for next turn, I will do that. All right. So, let's move once. Um and I will move. Where will I move? Actually, let me move down here. So, we can spend a guitar to move a progress to any mystery. So, just up there. I think that is not too bad. Um, and then I will use this one here to put a progress token on this one here, the Addison T one. And then I will use another movement in order to move back up here because like re-rolling all these demon dice is like really good.

Okay, that's not too bad. That works. All right. So, now it's the start of our turn. Um, what I will do, I will now use these two here and I will actually put them like on the bad runes. Um, this one is like kind of bad. This one and these are pretty bad. These two. Let me put it maybe here. No, let me put it here. Okay. Okay, so these don't trigger now. In case they would be triggered, and they would be triggered. Existential monolo 102. All right, so we put it down here. That means we fail one of those. I would have to use this one because the other one is a story one. And that means now we place two cops at our location as a reward. Well, that is wonderful. So, let me put that one right there. Uh, and now we trigger all of these. We don't trigger these two runes, but we trigger this one. suffer one corruption. Roll the ghost dice this turn. All right, we'll do and then we can roll our dice. Let's see what we can what we get here. All right, so first of all, we lose one health. Well, of course we do.

So, and now let's see. We have one of these demons. So, I need one pentagram, which I don't have. Oh, with this one, we gain one health. That's fine. We need one pentagram and we need we need four gear boys. Actually, we can take these four two gear boys. We could also take one uh one guitar instead of one pentagram. That would war. And we need to get rid of these cops as well, right? Um but let's see what we can get here. More guitars. No, let's reroll these as well. More guitars. Okay, then I guess we will have guitars. So, I will take two guitars in order to remove these two here. Um, and then I will Oh, we can reroll this one.

By the way, another guitar. Come on. Uh, then what will I do? I will use one one movement in order to go down here. Then I will spend one guitar to add one progress to any mystery, which is this one up here. So, this one is done. Really good. I'll do that like at the end of the turn. And then here, I will spend two gear boys here in order to put two more tokens on here. And then I will use that one here again. Spend a guitar to put another progress on here. So, one more and we're done. And here we will gain one health back. That is good. So, this one is done. So, let's remove this one here.

uh and put it right here. I will also put one token on here to denote that we have done the first of the two. Um and that's it. Start of the next turn. We refresh everything here. And I will put these two on there. All right. Oh, by the way, I would have used one more movement to move back here. I always do that, right? Okay, then let's start the next card. 103. That's bad because that's down here. So, we fail this one here. Triggering this one um just uh gives us one corruption and we gain another item. Okay, that's actually not too bad maybe. Right. And now this one would trigger these two, but these two are actually locked, so that is fine. The item we get charge add one progress to any mystery.

Ooh, that is good. We have two charge tokens. Check this out, man. This is amazing. Oh, this is really good. This could change a lot of things. That could change a lot. Nice. It's nice to be lucky for once. And these were famous last words, I suppose. All right. So, we have two demons. We have four masks. Oh, wow. And a giveaway. That is amazing. That is really good. I will not reroll anything. Of course not. Um, and we have four of these cell faces. So, we can also activate Travis. really good. Really, really good. Um, okay. So, let me see what we can do. We just need one token here. That's it. Um, so we can't add like four anywhere else.

Let's see to like kind of like do H. Let's do this one down here. So, I will move once. Oh, before we do, let's uh reward these two dice here. Guitar and a demon. Okay. Uh so now let's do the movement down here. Right. Then I will spend one year boy here in order to finish this mystery. Nice. Oh by the way I keep these two cards when I have solved them. We are having a lot of cards now. Let me just uh do it like this. So we are done with this card. Okay. And then I will spend I will spend these four masks here. Yeah. In order to put four on here or progress on here. 1 2 3 four. And then I will use my charge tokens once to add one progress to any mystery right here. This one is solved as well. And when solved, gain an item, it says. So we gain an item. Magnifying glass passive. When solving a mystery, move one progress from it to another mystery. That is really nice. We need less progress tokens. We are having issues here with our items. We have a lot of stuff. So, let me put the charge tokens. Let me put them up here like this. And then move everything a bit more to the right. That is amazing. We have so much stuff we can now do. Uh let

me do it like this. Let me put the charge ones there, the die one, and the passive one right here. So, we have loads of stuff now. So, what else can we do? Actually, let me spend that guitar one here to use this ability to add one progress to any mystery. Um, which one is pretty bad? Um, actually, I think this one's quite bad. Let's put it here. Maybe we can solve that at some point. And then I will use another uh well yeah I will need another charge token here for the walkie-talkie to add one progress to any mystery also right there. And then I will use a movement here to move back up here. That was an amazing turn. That was really really good. Really good. All right. So then I suppose we can continue with the next turn. I will leave these two on there. It's fine. But we will continue with the story anyway. So uh let's do this. Go to sleep. Charlie griddily slurps down the laced tea and within minutes his eyes are drooping and his head begins to sag. You hear mumble, I don't feel so well. As he seemingly dozes off, you reach for the bloodstained pony, but at the last second, his head snaps up, eyes wide, but unfocused. "What? My pony!" he bellows and snatches up a knife,

charging at you in a stumbling, murderous rage. "Oh, look at this. Uhoh, he's not too happy. Charlie Mansfield during the finale." You see there we are. Be sure to read the overall rules on the story cards as well as uh as all of these specific rules you on the finale cards themselves. First move all players to the apartment room. You may not leave. So what happens now is now we go to the apartment room. And what I will do, I will just take it. I will just put it here in the middle. So we don't need this one anymore. I just put it up. Right here is the apartment room. So, we go right there like this. Then we reveal all of the finale cards. Look at this. Look at that. And then we now need need to defeat Charlie by swapping all the finale cards in order. So, here um uh here is here are the rules. Ghost players who lose well, we don't do that right now, but I said that before, right? Ghost players who lose health instead suffer um corruption. Insane players who lose sanity instead suffer corruption. Whenever you roll a demon, choose one, lose one heart or one sanity. After locking all dice, if you have three demons, suffer two corruption and remove one progress from each finale

card. That's pretty rough. If corruption hits 20, draw story card 18. If you solve all the finale cards, draw a story card. 19, right? So, you have two different endings here. 19 and 20, as you can see. All righty. So, now let's go. And I misread that, right? It said like uh solve them in any order. So, all right. Now, we have our regular turns, right? Uh what we don't do anymore, we don't draw these mystery cards anymore, right? Because it says here at the start of your turn, lose. So, at the start of every turn, we lose three health and three talented. So, this is really, really rough. This one also says, "Whenever you lose um health, lose an additional health." That means in like two turns, we're done. We need to do that one first. When you solve another finale card, remove all progress from this card and lose that much health. So, we want to do that later, right? You want to do that first. That we're going to do as the last one. And this one says the first cell phase you roll each turn becomes a demon. Okay, this one first, then this one, and then that one, right?

Then I put them in this order already because so I know which order I want to solve them in. All right, so it's not the start of our turn, right? Because the turn has already started. So I think we don't I I think we don't lose health and sanity, right? As as of now. So let me just roll these dice here. Wow. And we have four demons. This is really bad. This is really, really bad. Um, and also we trigger our curse. All right, so we trigger our curse. We lose one sanity. Oh, this is horrible. And we move one pro or mystery cell to relocation. But okay, so in the first cell phase, we roll also becomes a demon. Look at this. This is horrible. We have five demon phases. We cannot do anything with those, right? At all. So, all I can do this turn is just to use a cell face to put one progress on here.

One of six. Well, actually, we could have rewrote this one first, which is another curse. Oh, no. That's horrible. Yeah. Then we will just leave it like this. I will put that one on there. And that's already it, right? Wow. So, it's the start of our turn. We lose uh two, four, we lose, we lose three health and plus so we lose six health at least. At least that's how I understand it, right? Six health and we lose three sanity. Next round we are done if we can't finish this one here. This is horrible. All righty. So we have one demon. That's fine. The first cell phase becomes a demon. We gain one health. That is good. We have three guitars which doesn't help us at all. I need to reroll all of these. This one is fine, I suppose. But you know what? cuz we were all of those.

No demon, please. All righty. Oh, by the way, um we had more than we had three demons. So, we would have gone here twice. We would have triggered the curse again. Um so, lost one sanity. And also, yeah. Yeah, that's it. Okay, so we have two penttograms and we have two guitars. That is really bad. I need to re one more time. There we go. Oops. That was I think a pedagram. Two pentagrams to guitar. Same thing again. Okay, we at least we gain one health. That is something, right? Okay, these don't really help us anymore at the moment, right? That's the problem. They can't really do anything. They can just prevent corruption. That's something. Okay, then we have like two pentagrams. The two guitars. I can't do anything, but two pentagrams is good. We need those, right? Um, I thought these were something else, but these are ventagrams. So, okay. And then as you start the next turn again, we lose three sanity and six health. This is not looking good. We have one health left.

That is really bad. Alrighty. Oh, by the way, we would have put them there. So, we have three guitars, which is horrible. We have one demon, and this one becomes a demon as well. Then we reroll all of these. That's another demon. That means we go forward to here. Actually, I will now use these here in order to prevent that to prevent these two corruption because I don't want to like overdo it there, right? It's getting a little bit dangerous. Okay. Um, and also we trigger our course. So, we lose one sanity and remove one progress token from each mystery here. Oh, this is bad. Um, I will reoll all of those. All right, better than nothing.

Uh, I will use these two here in order to put two more progress tokens on here. Um, and the guitar will not help us at all. Yeah, next turn we will lose six health again at 370. So, we're down to zero sanity and also we're down to zero health and we lose five more health which all will be translated into that here. So, I will actually let me rewind. Give me a moment. What I forgot is that I have my charge tokens, right? And I could have used two charge tokens last round and the round before in order to put tokens here, right? So, of course would have done it. I would put would have put two three on here and one on here. So I would have solved that last round already. So turn that over like this, right? So I would have not you lost all that like that much that much health and sanity, right? So instead I lose two sanity now and I would lose two health. That's down to zero health and then one corruption which I will use one of my friends for. I'm sorry for that. Okay. Okay. Now, we could actually maybe make it. Let's see.

So, two cell faces. That's good. One of them will become a demon. That still is an action. We have one pentagram. That's good. The two guitars don't help. This one is fine, I suppose. So, let's roll these two. There's another cell face and a guitar that we don't need. So, let's roll one more time. Another guitar. All right. So, um then I will use these three here um to charge up uh to char put like three pro tokens on here like this. All right, let me put those like just to the side here. Then I will use this one here to put one charge token on here. And then I will use two of my charges. I will just leave them like this, but I will just use those two in order to put two more charges on here. So, we already s also solved this one here. All right, next turn we lose one sanity and also one health, which I will use Larry for again like this. And also, sorry, sorry about that. I made another rules mistake. I forgot to actually um lose one health or sanity every time I roll one of those.

I'm not quite sure how many I rolled, right? But I guess like about five or something. So, let me one, two, three, four, five. Let me just go five up. I would have triggered my courage again, which would have gone one more up actually. And let me remove that token here just for good measure. H that was kind of ah that was that wasn't perfect, but that's the way it is. I would gain two items usually. Um a plunger. Remove one enemy from your location. That doesn't help us at all here anymore. And after locking in, any player may roll their demon dice. Your curse still triggers. That is pretty good, actually. and the charge ability as well. Okay, next turn we lose one health, one sanity, we trigger our curse, lose one more sanity like this. That is pretty bad.

And now we roll. So now we actually pretty much like need to win, right? And also we need to reroll these two. I also forgot that. So we lose one sanity, one health, which pushes up all all the way up to 19. And with these three demon dice, we are totally done. We it totally sparred out of control. Um yeah, that that's it, right? There wasn't anything I really could have done, right? Um I could have like put two more progress on here plus this one. That's three more progress, but that's pretty much it. So, we totally lost. But that is nothing new. Like I think I've never beaten that boss at the end the finale because like you don't have like these abilities here. You cannot move around. you cannot heal and stuff, right? Because you just heal and you just need to roll the right stuff and these cards were like really tough. That was a very tough combination that like really spiral out of control quickly. Well, so this concludes my playthrough of Sallyace Strange Nightmares which really went south quickly at the end. But how do I like the game? Well, let me tell you visually the game may be a dream come true for people invested in the IP in the original video game as the visuals are very well done and very close to its digital counterpart. Also, the component quality of the game is very nice.

Though, keep in mind that I have the deluxe version here, right? So, I can't really say anything um about the component quality in the regular edition. But just as an example, um apart from all the acrylic stuff that I showed you before, uh look at these gear boys. Um when you have like full sanity and health, like full full health, I mean, you see that you have like 15 health here, right? And as it gets lower and lower, you also see the battery here on the left becoming more yellow and then red and then black at the end. Isn't that cool? I think that's an amazing touch. I think that is a really really cool touch. I just love the attention to detail. Thematically the game may also speak to a lot of fantasy franchise as it effectively brings the video game to the tabletop. Like for example, the first uh the first story here is actually like the beginning of the story like in the original video game. Yes, you roll dice in the board game here, which is different from the video game. What you do there, but the story will feel familiar to fans of Sally Face. This is pretty well done. It also makes sense because the developer of the video game is also the designer of this game. There's a story line with four scenarios you can play through, which is cool, and it's easily expandable with further story lines in the future. I suppose you just saw the first of four story lines today.

Regarding game play, what I really like is that they didn't just slap the word solo onto the regular cooperative mode, but I actually developed a dedicated solo mode and it works well for sure. The game is also quite elegant. It is light on rules, but still offers some strategic depth. And generally, I tend to like games with the Yatsi style mechanism of free rolling dice. I don't know why, but it's just really engaging to me. Also like you have like a lots of options to like move around to heal then you can use these option these actions as the corruption grows which is bad. You still get some items which help you later on kind of a mechanism also Cthulu death may die uses with like more insanity you actually become stronger. It's also similar here. So that is pretty cool. What I wasn't a fan of is the rule book. While it gives you a decent overview of how the game is played, it's lacking clarity in certain areas. So, you'll probably have to look up some rules online, but since the game isn't too widespread yet, you might not even find those rules online. I asked a few questions to the developer and just hope I got all the rules right today.

But there are still like questions I have in my head like with specific cards come up. I would also say that there is some limited replay-ability here that mainly depends on how much fun you're having with the dice rolling mechanism and like the moving around and these abilities. There are four story lines that of course stay the same on repeated plays because you never shuffle those. You always have the story cards in the same order. The only changing aspects are the random mystery cards you draw and also the item cards I suppose and the finale cards like depending on which three you get of these 10 that are in the game. Theatically the game does a good job of replicating the video game. That's amazing news for fans, but due to its very specific and very dark story and characters, this might not speak to everyone, especially those unfamiliar with the source material.

All in all, Saliface Nightmares is a well produced and thematically strong adaptation of the video game with engaging mechanisms and a thoughtfully designed solo mode. While the rule book could use more clarity and the replay-ability is somewhat limited, fans of the original game will most likely enjoy the experience here, especially if they're into dice driven games.
