Sally Face Strange Nightmares:Corruption Preview
Transcript
Hello, my friends. It's the Game Boy Geek here today. We're diving back into the world of Sally Face. As corruption spreads through the shadows, you and your friends must work together to investigate mysteries, gather items, and confront the evil rising beneath the town before it consumes everything. In Sally Face: Strange Nightmares Corruption, which is an expansion to the successful board game, which was based off the popular video game. That's for one to five players, takes 45 to 60 minutes to play, is for ages 13 and up, and published by Maestro Media. Now, I've already produced an official rule school video to help you set up and learn the base game. So, in this video, I'm going to be highlighting the expansion, which is being crowdfunded right now. So, here we go.
This is a crowdfunding preview, so all the art and components you see here are not final. These are prototypes. To see the most up-to-date art and components, check the link in the description of this video. I've already produced a rule school tutorial video for the base game of Sally Face: Strange Nightmares. So, in this video, we're just going to highlight some of the new things that are in the expansion. Now, the base game's strongest asset was the story deck, and the expansion brings four new story decks into the game. Now, each of the story decks include five new starting item cards, and these might be things like a potato light that has you move an enemy to a floor with no enemy, or a cell phone that allows you to gain progress on each mystery after a curse, or motorcycle that allows you to move to another location after locking dice. There are also new mystery cards that get shuffled into the deck, bringing new flavor to every story. Now, there are new story cards in each deck. Now, I don't want to show you too many of these cuz I don't want to spoil much of it for you, but these are designed to deepen the story and introduce unexpected challenges. And each story deck has their own finale cards making each story have different challenges and endings to the game.
There's also five new floor ability cards giving you new tactical tricks up your sleeve. Some stories have their own boards and new mechanisms like the blood clock where you'll be advancing the hands of the clock which will do things like removing progress tokens, having all the players trigger curses, or adding cultists. Or the necro guitar board which is a mythical paranormal instrument that converts shredding notes into necroelectricity which can be used to complete some mysteries and finale cards, gain bonus effects, and gain a form of consecration to reduce corruption hits. To play a note on a card, you must be at its location and they can only be played after all other progress requirements on the card have been met. After locking dice, you play any notes during the rest of your turn by spending all the notes matching die requirements at once. For example, two guitars for the A note which will allow you to defeat an enemy, where the E note gains you two health, or the B note gains you two sanity.
Now there is a collector's edition a set available and that includes the base game and the expansion in a wooden box that is literally a super gear boy. It also includes wooden cubes, dual layered apartments, an official wearable Sal's mask, a spirit board play mat that resembles the old school Ouija board, corrupted dice and Jim's journal. It also includes Sally face figurines, two new figures, a tarot deck with the corruption flare, also four pin sets one of which is new. And a Sanity Falls t-shirt. But be sure to check out the campaign to see all the up-to-date things that are included in this pledge as well. Well there you have Sally Face Strange Nightmares Corruption and as I showed in the overview, there's new story decks each with their own items, mysteries, stories, and finales keeping things fresh with some of the stories coming with their own boards and a new set of mechanisms.
