[Music] it is 1985 you want to it this much as you can in all-you-can-eat buffets and play this clock machine but beware not to get the bat prawn do you want to learn how to place coq10 in this video we're going to take you through the equal rules for the game of scoffing and if you stay tuned to the end we hope you can pick up some tips and strategies along the way coming up [Music] hi it's turned and Stella from you boy University we bring you afraid to equality watching videos now let's get to the rules of Scotland game by Marcus Finlay and Gavin Vance and published by vamoose code it's a typical Friday night in 1985 you and your terrible haircut have headed down to the local all-you-can-eat restaurant Scotland to try to eat your fill you've handed over your four dollars 95 in 1985 purchasing power money and now it's up to you to get the best value for money you can through the game you and up to three other diners will compete to get the best cuts of meat from the floor and try to complete today's hottest menu ideas once one players belly is completely full of food players will total up the value for money points they've gained through completing menus eating quality foods or even winning on the floor machine and the player with the highest score wins in this video we're teaching you from a prototype copy of the game and so the aren't rules and components may not be fun I won't to step you through the full setup of the game but I'll show you what the end of the setup is like you'll be seating the main restaurant board with all of the various food tokens in their appropriate places salads soups ice cream desserts coffees and buffet items these three stacks are called the kitchen and they are effectively your discard piles you'll shuffle up and have your three decks of cards ready the claw machine cards the lost-and-found cards and the management cards then you'll prepare your menu cards you will always use the card labelled sweet tooth and then the other three cards will come from all of these savoury menus available in the game there are four numbers printed on each of these boxes and you'll stack these tiles in ascending order and these will represent the points that players will gain for completing a menu from that car next to the lost-and-found space you'll lay out three lost-and-found cards in a two-player game or four in a three or four player game each player takes a belly board three matching maples and a sneeze then pick a first player and you're ready to play scoff turn is a round based worker placement and retrieval game in the first phase of each round players will place their maples onto the action spaces and claim dishes players will place their maples one at a time clockwise around the table after all the maples are placed you'll move into the management phase where a single card is flipped from the management deck and then resolved this can interfere with some of the action spaces that players have already selected then follows the worker retrieval and activation phase once again starting with the first player and going clockwise around the board players will retrieve a maple from the board one at a time and activate its effect players need not retrieve their maples in the same order they placed them once all maples have been retrieved from the board the round ends and you'll proceed to the next round this continues until one player has completely filled all the compartments on the player board and this will trigger the end of the game so now let's look at each phase in more detail in the worker placement phase players will take it in turns to place one maple at a time onto a placement space there are many different types of space in the game the first type is a space where food or beverage may be retrieved when placing at one of these locations take the top token from the corresponding location and then place the maple on top of it your maple has claimed this food from the stack when you visit the soup station you have the choice to choose between either soup or bread at the dessert and salad stations your choice depends on your play account in a four player game you must choose from the stack you place in front of while in the three or two player game only one of these two locations is available and you may choose from either stack when taking it other placement spaces on the main board are the restroom the claw machine and reception next to the main board will be three or four lost-and-found cards depending on your play account and each of these is its own worker placement space finally there are two personal worker placement spaces available on each player board for the player to perform table actions the situation may arise where a player really wants a certain food item but is unable to take it for whatever reason when this happens the player has the option of walking up and sneezing on the food to do this place the sneeze token and place the meeple on top no other player may take a sneezed upon foodstuff but you may come back in a later round to claim that food as your own remember that throughout the activation phase the three discard piles in the kitchen are off-limits both to worker placement and to sneezes finally as the night wears on in this filthy restaurant you'll start to see spills appearing at different locations on the floor and this can happen through some of the cart effects in the game and a player cannot place a meeple onto a space that has a spill note that reception and the restroom are resistant to spills once all meeples have been placed in this phase proceed to the management phase in this phase you'll flip over the top card from the management deck and then resolve it this will have some impact on the restaurant floor which may invalidate some of your worker placement choices this will make more sense after we've talked about resolving actions so I'll come back and show you some of these later in the video next follows the activation phase and in this starting with the first player and going clockwise players will take it in turns to retrieve one meeple from its space and then activate the location to activate any location where a meeple is retreating food place the food item onto one of the four slots on the players table and then return the meeple to the supply if your table is full when you attempt this action then there's no space for it and you simply discard that food to the bottom of its matching this car when you retrieve bread you may place it either onto your table or into a bowl of soup and when you retrieve ice cream you may place it again either onto your table or onto any dessert this is up to a limit of one round token per square token you will likely want to do this as the ice cream and bread are worth more points when paired than when by themselves note however that the converse is not true bringing home soup to a table that already contains bread does not allow that bread to be put into that soup the equivalent applies for ice cream the other type of retrieval is to retrieve a cup of coffee and when doing this the coffee goes into the saucer in the center of your table multiple cups of coffee can be placed into this same pile over the course of the game finally when retrieving an ice cream you may choose to put that ice cream into a cup of coffee to make an affogato when doing this you'll take a cup of coffee from your saucer and place it onto a dish space on your table this has now changed from being a drink to being a dessert next we'll look at the four actions available for your table meeples your first action is to eat and to do this you will simply take one of your food tokens and then place it into any one empty space within your stomach any types of food may go into the top two chambers of your stomach while only desserts or bread are allowed to go into this bottom chamber you can still put desserts and bread into the top chambers if you wish eating foods will grant players the number of value-for-money points shown by the dots on the tokens but more importantly will lead the players towards completing their menus if at any point one of the three stomach chambers is completely filled that section is completed and scored first check to see if the combination of ingredients meets any one of the menus on the board if so take the top value for money points token into your ashtray as a reward then count up the number of value-for-money points on all of those food items here it's 5 take value for money tokens matching that amount from the supply and then replace the foodstuffs in that stomach with the token you can keep your value for money tokens facedown to obscure the number of points you've gained but in this video we're keeping them face up for demonstration this compartment is considered full and cannot be used again items removed from your stomach are placed onto the bottoms of their corresponding discard piles a few special notes bread and ice cream by themselves are worth half a point and a stomach section score is rounded down so this whole section would be worth five points and this one would be worth four however the value of bread or ice cream goes up from half a point to one if it is in soup or on a desert respectively as such this stomach section would be worth a total of eight points finally when completing a stomach section containing prawns you'll need to check for the poison prawn but I'll take you through the implications of that later in the video there are three other table actions available by using one of your table meeples the first is to settle and by taking the settle action you may rearrange any of the items inside your belly in incompleted stomach sections this may help you to change strategies from one menu item to another the third action is to call a waiter and by doing this you may remove any items from your table that you no longer wish to eat returning them to the bottom of their relevant discard piles finally you can spend your action to rearrange your table and this is the only way that you can put bread that's already on your table into soup or put ice cream that's already on your table into a dessert when doing this action you may make as many rearrangements as you'd like when resolving a lost-and-found item the player retrieves the meeple and then follows the text printed on the card the card is then discarded at the end of the round anything which wasn't taken remains in place and the rest of the cards are replaced from the drawer deck a player resolving the claw machine action takes the top card from the claw machine deck this could yield a prize worth as many as four value-for-money points or as is more likely you'll fail and get nothing either way if you gain any points or rewards you'll take them in tiles immediately and you'll shuffle the entire claw machine deck back together for the next player there are two actions available to be taken at reception the first is to say in a loud voice the service here is terrible which makes you the first player from the next round the second is to say this place is disgusting and this will trigger a clean and restock of the restaurant to clean remove any spills from the board and he sneezed upon food is discarded to the kitchen and sneezes returned to their owners and discard any food which is on the wrong sort of pile and this can happen through some of the card effects in the game then restock any discarded ice cream bread soup or coffees go straight back onto their relevant piles and the kitchen stacks are placed back into their relevant locations this is done first by filling empty spaces from the top of the pile then building all the stacks up to roughly the same height by adding tiles underneath that way the longer it's been since something was discarded the sooner it will come back to the top of the pack then clear out any cards from the lost-and-found which do not currently have Knievel's placed on them as usual those will be replenished at the end of the round finally management gives the complaining player one cup of coffee to smooth things over when taking a maple back from a sneeze token simply retrieve the meeple and take now action you'll have to go back to retrieve the sneezed upon food in a future round the final action space is the restroom and we're doing this a player may digest any or all food items in an uncompleted stomach section to do this choose the items to be digested gain value for money points equal to the number of dots and then return those tiles to their discard piles once again if you're digesting prawns you must go looking to see whether you have in prom there are four different prawn tokens in the game one of which is poisoned because and let's be honest all you can buffet prawns are a bit of a lottery anytime you digest prawns whether it's through the restroom action or through completing a stomach section you must check to see whether or not it's poisoned if it's not poisoned then the prawn is worth three points as usual if it is poisoned then you're in for a bad time discard the prawn returning it to the bottom of its discard pile and then also discard either all other prawns in that stomach section or a total of half of the contents of that stomach section you'll gain no points for those if you are working on a menu item you also get no points for that menu item but you do get to keep the remaining foods to try again finally if the prawn was found while dealing with a completed stomach section take one of your Diner meatballs and send it to the restroom you won't be able to take any other action with that meatball for the next round when one players stomach is completely filled the end of the game is triggered finish the current round and then proceed to end of game scoring any player with a completely filled stomach gains a bonus three points as part of final scoring players who are not completely full still get to score the value-for-money points based on the items that they've already eaten foods the player is yet to eat score no points but any coffees on the players table even though they haven't drunk them are worth one point each players add up all the scores they have collected through the game and the player with the highest score wins if tied whoever is closest to first place in the final turn order wins the game before we finish I'll take you through a few of the management cards in the game as these can interrupt your plans the food fight forces players to discard food and drop a spill on the floor different types of waiters will come and clean and restock the restaurant in particular these guys are going to clean up your sneezes and so you won't want to leave your sneeze tokens around too long and the bread waiter and fresh bread cards served to slow you down by filling up your tables and stomach with low value bread the bread waiter puts bread on your table and the fresh bread card compels you to eat one everyone knows that filling up on bread and an all-you-can-eat restaurant is bad value for money finally be wary of the lost-and-found clear out as this will discard any lost-and-found cards and mean the meatballs placed on them Mysti turns and bets have to place cotton we hope
