Description

In Doctor Who: Nemesis, you play one of the Doctor’s many adversaries seeking to twist space and time to your own ends.

Your old nemesis, the Doctor, endlessly seeks to thwart your plans. Worse still, his other adversaries have their own schemes, and they don’t involve you controlling everything. You must send your minions out to thwart both the Doctor’s and your opponents’ schemes, while bringing your own to fruition!

Have you got what it takes to remake the universe?
Can you defeat the meddling Doctor?
Will you finally triumph for all time?

Pros
  • Variable win conditions enable a large variety of paths to victory, not just a single fixed objective
  • Each Nemesis has unique powers and cards, increasing replayability and depth
  • A high volume of game-changing moves creates dramatic, tense moments and meaningful strategic decisions
  • Strong thematic integration with Doctor Who IP and a clear, thematic villain-vs-heroes dynamic
  • The game scales across 2-4 players with meaningful interactions and board state shifts
  • The ability to win off opponents' doctor schemes adds meta-game layer and strategic sequencing
  • Fits all 14 doctors into the starter box, making it relatively self-contained for rotation and variety
  • Encourages fast learning of new wind conditions due to its evolving state and flexible strategies
Cons
  • Flux (shifting win conditions) is polarizing and can frustrate players who prefer stable, predictable goals
  • Complexity and breadth of options can create a steep learning curve for newcomers
  • No solo mode, which excludes single-player experiences and time-shifted play
  • Reliance on variable win conditions may lead to analysis paralysis or perceived imbalance among some players
  • Thematic blending with multiple Doctor Who elements may feel crowded for players seeking a tighter scope
  • Longer play sessions in practice can occur due to the depth and number of decisions per turn
Thematic elements
  • Conspiracy, control of the universe, and shifting power dynamics using personal schemes and villainous strategies
  • Doctor Who universe with the Doctor as a central figure opposing the Master and various iconic antagonists (Cybermen, Weeping Angels, etc.)
  • Asymmetric interaction where the Doctor is the opposing nemesis and win conditions evolve; emphasis on adaptability to multiple schemes
Comparison games
  • Disney Villainous
