Quotes (from this video)
- I tried playing Xenoblade Chronicles 1 the Definitive Edition. I may try to go back to that one, but it is too much like playing World of Warcraft, which I don't I like World of Warcraft. Like it's but I when I play a JRPG I don't want to play World of Warcraft. I want to play a JRPG. And it's just too much like that.
- I played that and I beat it three times. Yes. And then it said that's not the real ending. This is another ending. And I was like, then I started playing it and I'm like, well, I'm playing the exact same thing I played the first time through.
- Um boy, I really wanted to like this one and I didn't. But apparently Octopath Traveler 2 uh fixes all the problems.
- And I just don't I'm not that interested. This is not engaging me. You know, I'm not saying objectively that's good or bad. It's just for me wasn't doing the trick.
- Like the game those games are like really really fun. Obviously I played 50 and 60 hours all the way through them. They're really fun. But like that that's a bad game to me. Like that's not worth an 8.0 on whatever website. It's like oh when I had to go and like read this because it didn't make any sense and it's like no, you they've ruined the game. Sorry.
- there's not really been a good JRPG board game. There just hasn't.
- And to me that's what's that's what's the most fun about most of these games. And then also telling in some cases, especially like Trails and some of the Ys games for sure, and the Eden Chronicles games, even the Dragon Quest games, telling like a you know, mildly interesting story that has some moving moments and some some loss and some gain and some happy moments and some you know, personal relationships and stuff.
- The relationship part of the game was like, well which which one did you have sex with? You know, okay, that's the relationship. But in some of these other ones it's like, oh no, this is actually interesting, you know, platonic relationship that has nothing to do with sex or being, you know, intimate in any way. It's just um you know, this person was your friend.

- God, there's a real interesting sort of analog digital tension going on here with some of these early games.
- This is very like board gamey.
- It feels very analog because I'm detached from the online.
- It's it's a digital little, you know, ones and zeros little etched thing on this this motherboard or this cart that is detached from, you know, the master control of, you know, the online social media nonsense.
- It feels very like almost post-apocalyptic, like you've you've dug up this thing and then you have this little like working device and then you like you slap it a couple of times and it like comes alive and it like does a couple of things and then it goes away and then it it feel goes back to the earth.
- There's something about there's a sinisterness to it to that sort of master control type of online thing.
- Like my brain after a session of, you know, one of these things I've talked about, it's in a similar spot to my brain after a board game night.

- Here we've also got the good old games Doom 1 Doom 2.
- Yeah, so you know, it's Doom.
- It works.
- And while we're talking about it, same idea here with Heretic and Hexen.
- this is just Doom fantasy.
- And then here we have System Shock 2.
- But, it's it's a remaster of System Shock 2, so it's a little bit updated.
- But it runs good just like basically right out of the box there.
- And this is last one this Pico-8.
- So, what Pico-8 is, it's almost like it's own little console.
- But then, you get like hundreds and hundreds of games for free.
- these little like Gameboy S games.
- This top screen runs at 120 Hz.
- So, if I'm just playing like, you know, retro games or something, I don't worry about it.
- And if I'm especially if I'm playing the dual screen games here, then if you set this to 120, this bottom screen is like a little bit weird cuz the screen technically can't go to 120, but it kind of fakes it out.
