Description
An evolution in dexterity games, featuring all-new artwork by designer Yves Tourigny.
Flicking Finches is a "delightful dexterity game for the whole flock". In the game, players can "evolve" their finch discs by changing their characteristics, such as beak size, body size, or body markings. The players then flick their finches across the playmat as close as possible to the Darwin figure, who awards them seeds based on the characteristics he's currently studying. After sketching a finch, Charlie moves to the next island in the Galapagos, with the finches giving chase. The player with the most seeds when Darwin's sketchbook is filled wins the game!

Mechanics (from transcript analysis)
- chirp — Use a chirp action to attract Darwin's attention; Darwin sketches the closest bird and moves to the next island in sequence.
- Evolve — Change one feature of a bird (size, color, stripe pattern, beak shape) to better match a sketch, using a free evolve action or as a later action.
- fly — Flick a bird across the mat to move it; collisions with clouds or birds can reposition pieces, and if a bird falls off the board it returns to supply for potential re-use.
- hatch — Place a new bird on a nesting site that corresponds to the island where Darwin is looking; this adds birds to your board and advances your options.
- pattern_matching — Score by matching bird features to the currently targeted sketch in Darwin's notebook, driving both placement strategy and flicking intent.
- resource_and_scoring — Eggs collected from knocked-off opponent birds grant extra actions or end-game bonuses; seeds collected become victory points and drive final tallies.
- set_collection_and_completion — Players race to complete three rows in Darwin's sketchbook; game ends when three rows are completed, creating a push to optimize early choices and long-term planning.
