Description

Your playful (and oddly short-limbed) cat Tyrannosaurus and her friends know you're tired after coming home from work — so of course they will jump and run around the house to their hearts' content in order to create a sweet little mess for you to remember them by! Because as long as you're family, every day is a holiday for Tyrannosaurus!

Tyrannosaurus's Holiday is a roll-and-write game with a unique "roll-3-dice-and-hide-1" mechanism that brings interesting player interaction to the game. All players may fill in the numbers of the two public dice freely on their game sheet, but the number of the hidden die has a strict limit as to where it can be filled in. Pay attention to the dice-roller's sheet so that you may have a chance to take advantage of their hidden die!

Pros
  • charming, humorous theme with cat antics
  • engaging, compact playtime (~30 minutes)
  • strong puzzle charm for fans of number-placement games
Cons
  • chaotic at times; can feel random with dice
  • some room rules can be fiddly or feel unintuitive
Thematic elements
  • cat mischief, home life, and puzzle-like constraints
  • domestic chaos with a cat-obsessed household
  • playful humor with a slightly ridiculous premise
Comparison games
none
Mechanics (from transcript analysis)
  • Dice Placement — players roll or reference two numbers (via dice) and place them into rooms with specific constraints
  • dice-driven number placement — players roll or reference two numbers (via dice) and place them into rooms with specific constraints
  • room-based constraints — each room has a different rule (e.g., numbers identical, ascending, or specific sums) and numbers must fit those rules
  • scarcity and strategic placement — the cat-treasure mechanic and the need to fit numbers into limited spaces creates tense decisions

  • folded wishes was just a little bit dull
  • the art on the tiles is wonderful, like something you'd find in a magic I 3d book
  • the three rounds of the day, you know, nap at the end—this is your work life turned into a game
