Description

The hexagonal board has several holes in it for the unique playing pieces. Each player uses sand timers as his pieces, and a turn is simply to move to an adjacent space, flipping the timer in the process. The number of times that each space on the board can be occupied is limited, but the more central spaces can have more traffic. The object of the game is simply to have any of your pieces movable when your opponent's pieces are either locked in place, or out of sand.

This game was originally part of project GIPF.

Quotes (from this video)
  • Trick taking is this mechanism in where you're going to be playing face up cards in the center of the table.
  • The trump suit will ultimately win over all other suits.
  • Winning tricks isn't always the goal.
  • Sometimes the game will reward you for winning as many tricks as you can.
  • There are hundreds of trick- taking games out there.
  • The joy of board games is really discovering which of these games really appeal to you.

  • Multipliers offer significant scoring potential and strategic depth.
  • Fusion cards add an interesting twist to trick timing.
  • The deductive element of knowing what cards exist is compelling.
  • It's a unique trick-taking experience.
  • The artwork is nice.
Cons
  • The luck factor can sometimes lead to dominant wins for one team.
  • Point scoring can be very fast, potentially reversing situations.
  • One host felt there was slightly too much luck and not enough control.
  • The scoring can be quite fast.

Quotes (from this video)
  • The player who played the second highest card in the lead suit wins the trick.
  • You're trying to sting the other players with bees.
  • If you collect the same valued bee, same color, same value, you get eliminated by going into anaphylaxis shock.
  • This is the meanest trick taking game I've ever played.
  • The market adds a lot of unique and interesting aspects to this game because of the way that everybody else can see it.
  • The hierarchy gets really difficult to follow like there's so many different combinations that occur.
  • The first phase is actually trick taking for cards. And the cards that you win, you'll be playing the second phase in a card shedding phase.
  • The way that this game works is you'll shuffle those two decks together.
  • I find it chaotically pleasing.
  • I think that experience along with the trick taking is very unique.

Overall sentiment (raw)
positive
Pros
  • Unique team game experience.
  • High scoring potential is exciting.
  • Distinct from other trick-taking games.
  • Plays relatively quickly once the meta is understood.
Cons
  • Can feel bad to be on the other end of high scoring turns.
  • Can seem intimidating initially.
Thematic elements
Comparison games
none
Mechanics (from transcript analysis)
  • Hand Management — But the strategy behind that is knowing what you have in your hand and kind of trying to understand what everybody else has in their hand.
  • Player Interaction (Assisted Play) — On your turn, you can ask other players to play for you, meaning they have to play your colored card into your play zone.
  • team-based play — This is a team player game. There is a version where you can play two-player, but I highly recommend playing this one at the four-player count.
  • Trick-Taking — The scoring is absolutely wild in this game. I think that you can score like 400 points.

Quotes (from this video)
  • The Lord of the Rings is something that I really, really enjoy.
  • In most instances, you are playing out your entire hand in this game.
  • The packaging and the product design of this game is also just phenomenal.
  • It's that one thing that's like everybody's trying to push their points up a little bit more like they want to, but you don't want to do it too much because everybody starts to gang up on you.
  • The scoring because you do better if other people do worse. And don't meet their bids.
  • Every time I played this game, it just has tickled my brain in the best way possible.
  • It takes this simple idea, I guess, and then elevates it just enough that it feels like Ilia said classic, but also doesn't um pull away from the uniqueness of this game.
  • It does have grand moments, which I love in games, as many of you know by now. You can be so confident that you're not going to take another trick and you're sitting at 25 and bam, you did. You've busted. Eat it.

Quotes (from this video)
  • Rudolph. We haven't played it yet, but it is Rudolph themed, so it's holiday themed, so I think it'd be great. We're definitely going to be pulling it out this Christmas.
  • when you open it up and you look at it, it's very much so. Like there's there's Holly and like mistletoe and cranberry and all of the m the mice are dressed with their little cute scarves.
  • It's a cooperative game. you're all working together to get Frodies to Mordor.
  • And I just think that this there's something. It's not Christmas themed. It's not holiday themed, but there's something like about this game that's just very magical.
  • It's cozy, it's quick, it's simple, it's festive.
  • Santa versus Krampus. That's very holiday theme.
  • which is the Christmas themed one. And this is like has a 3D tree and you're booping ornaments off of it.
  • So, I would do like just a big batch of chili with different toppings.
  • And when you order in takeout, especially like I don't know about everywhere, but here like for our Chinese food, it's always so much food. You can feed an army with what you're ordering.
  • I personally prefer the Jim Carrey one or the old like the original Grinch. Those are the best ones.
  • Elf is I don't know if you guys knew this, but Elf is literally my favorite movie of all time. not just Christmas movie. It is my favorite movie of all time.
  • This is a perfect movie. T the season to be jolly and joyous.
  • I think that could be really fun. You could have a table for like ornament decorating or cookie decorating. I think it would be really fun to do like build your own gingerbread houses or mele gingerbread decorating.
  • I almost said Nightmare Before Christmas. I'm sure there's a book about that, too. But I think that could also be really fun.

Quotes (from this video)
  • Carcassonne: Over Hill and Dale, this is one of those expansions that I just missed.
  • This is a big, grandiose game with a lot going on, and it's too slow and too boring for me to enjoy it.
  • This is my least favorite Carcassonne game. I hate this game.
  • This is one of the biggest, longest games I've ever played.
  • It's the bad quality's bad.
  • This one is fine. Um this one is not as bad as the other one I played was that you go around and you find stuff. It doesn't look very good though, does it?
  • Leaders on the other hand are a great two-player game where you have a bunch of leaders and you're trying to capture your opponent's leader.
  • Of all the games I talked about today, I think my favorite is actually Leaders.
  • Leaders is a very, very excellent two-player game.
  • This is a re-implementation of Survive: Escape from Atlantis.
  • A little auction game. There was just some really neat like there wasn't many games like this. Now, there are many, many, many games like it.
