Description

The Empire of Tamriel is on the edge. The High King of Skyrim has been murdered.

Alliances form as claims to the throne are made. In the midst of this conflict, a far more dangerous, ancient evil is awakened. Dragons, long lost to the passages of the Elder Scrolls, have returned to Tamriel. The future of Skyrim, even the Empire itself, hangs in the balance as they wait for the prophesized Dragonborn to come; a hero born with the power of The Voice, and the only one who can stand amongst the dragons.

Skyrim is a fantasy role-playing game by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. Skyrim is the fifth installment in The Elder Scrolls series, and is a sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
The game takes place in the Nordic land of Skyrim, on the fictional continent of Tamriel, about 200 years after the events of Oblivion. At the time of the game, the King of Skyrim has died, provoking civil war amongst the native Nord race. The war is the last in a sequence of events (depicted in each of the previous games in the series) that fulfill a prophecy foretold by the Elder Scrolls; the Nordic god Alduin arises to destroy the world.

Skyrim uses a new, internally developed engine, rather than the Gamebryo engine used for the previous two installments in the series.

Bethesda made their official announcement confirming the game and launch date on Dec. 13, 2010.

Quotes (from this video)
  • But, uh, I'll be honest, Vantage when they said it's not a campaign, there's no impact to the box, but it's a sandbox. I was like, I don't know how that can be a good game that I'd be interested in.
  • I have gear fear where I like I'm afraid to like lose my gear.
  • It's It's me. I'm I'm admitting it. Like I'm not I'm not hiding it. I'm telling you why. This is what my problem is.
  • Oh, man. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that that felt cool. That that's like where acrobat is cool. And I didn't even do the um, the changing positions and damaging a bunch of things cuz that when they have armor it's not as good.
  • The fact that you saying I'll wait. It it it it's not so much of a problem because you're only waiting weeks, months. Usually the game's announced and it's out a month or two later and it's usually already printed and and shipping, which is the crazy part.
  • Quest units cannot gain status effects from abilities or rules unless explicitly stated.
  • The player's own 'gear fear' affects item usage and overtaxing.
  • Stonemire Games is known for like a game gets popular. I know this I think this how Jamie kind of works is what I've kind of understood for the last like following his games and playing his games for like the last like 12 13 years is like he sees a popular game in the industry that that fires off in most situations and then he'll go oh I want to make my own version of that or take components of that game in some other popular game that just fired off and got super hot and I want to make my own and like put my own twist on it, my own high quality production.
