Description

Your dwarf clan has been chosen by King Grimsteel to mine the vast riches buried within Treasure Mountain. You must dig deep, keep your axes close and beware of the pillaging dragons that plague the mountain in search of treasure.
Dwarf clans earn victory points by mining gems, earning gold, building mines, and fighting dragons. The clan with the most victory points at the end of the game gains the favor of King Grimsteel and wins the game.

Treasure Mountain is medium-light strategic worker placement game with a unique "bumping" mechanic that also creatively integrates some tile laying. With multiple paths to victory, which will you choose?

Mechanics (from transcript analysis)
  • Action Drafting — comes back to your pool of dwarves you can use and you're going to be able to use it again later. So, the game kind of revolves around this idea of putting dwarves places where you know someone's going to go later so you can get a bonus and then get kicked out and then take another action.
  • Take That — the dwarf with the longer beard can kick out a shorter beard dwarf. So if you're level one dwarf goes out and does something, I can send my level two or my level three out and it'll kick that dwarf out.
  • Worker Placement — This is a worker placement game

  • And what a clever game.
  • Really a clever clever game.

  • And that brings me to the number one game of the comp for me, and that was Theology.
  • I think the powers of each of the gods are very, very powerful in that way that I love where everybody has a broken power, but since everybody's got a broken power, nobody's broken
  • it has tons of situational effects, which I really like.
  • It was such a wonderful first game of so many people who didn't play and I got crushed.
  • But there you have it folks. That is Dundracon. my thoughts on it, what can be improved, and my top 15, really 16 games of the con.
