Pros
- Love the theme of mad scientists competing at a monster maker science fair.
- Big bag building and push-your-luck aspect.
- Pull tokens from a bag to reanimate monsters, but risk busting if too much 'rot' is pulled.
- Tension between pushing luck and avoiding busting.
- Significant player interaction through card reveals.
- Cards have a color and a secondary action; playing the same color as another player's secondary action allows you to perform that stronger action.
- Allows for more flexibility and control over how much you pull from the bag.
- Game is on the edge of lightweight to mediumweight.

Mechanics (from transcript analysis)
- Bag Building — There's a big bag building push your luck aspect to making monsters.
- Monster reanimation — You are going to be pulling uh tokens from your bag trying to get the right things that you need to reanimate a monster.
- Player interaction (card reveal) — In that at the start of every round, we're all going to reveal a card and that card is going to determine how many things we can pull out from our bag. But there's an interesting aspect to it in that our card is going to have a color and a secondary sort of action on it. And if anybody else plays a color card that is the same color as our secondary stronger action, we get to do that action instead.
- Push Your Luck — You are going to be pulling uh tokens from your bag trying to get the right things that you need to reanimate a monster. You know, each monster has sort of token requirements to reanimate it, but there's also rot in your bag. And so, if you get too much rot, you are going to bust.

Quotes (from this video)
- Aquatica is one of the most unique games I've ever played because you're going to be getting these cards and sort of sliding them up into your board notch by notch.
- And so you have these epic turns where you're like I'm going to slide this up that's going to help me get this card that's going to get me this and that's going to get me and ba ba ba
- So, that adds this tension because every time you play it, you have to respond to what your opponent is going for and sort of block them off.
- I love the mechanism I split you choose.
- And I don't feel like it's used in enough games.
- And so you are playing mind games the whole time where you're like, "Ooh, how do I how do I put something decently enticing on the top but not enticing enough that they want to keep that?"
- Maybe they think, "Ooh, there's probably something better underneath that." And then I screw them and then I put something there that they don't want.
