Quotes (from this video)
  • So, a transformational game is a term to describe a game that is designed to do something more than entertain. So, to create a change in the player that extends beyond entertainment and beyond the the um experience of the game.
  • And so the term transformational is a term that uh actually I think Jesse Shell at Shell Games maybe started or at least uh agreed that at our studio where I was when I wrote that book um we agreed that that was a better term for the the kinds of games and like sort of the breadth of the types of things that we might work on.
  • all models are wrong but some models are useful and so I think as as long as the language model that you're using is useful for the conversation then you know then you know that that's the goal of of having a term like that
  • It's it's such a weird skill, right? So I still I'm still at the age with my youngest kiddo that you know they're still developing senses of like basic words like even a little bit like they struggle with pronouns for example for some reason he calls everybody him he and and it does and it's and in one hand it's like oh why isn't he using the various pronouns in the other hand it's like nobody is teaching him this. We we all pick up our native languages just by being around people and absorbing it. It's crazy.
  • But when you're trying to build something like empathy, how what do you turn to to try to scaffold that for somebody much less put that into a game?
  • And so the framework really came out of realizing that we need to have some conversations much earlier in the process and then continuing through the process and ideally we have them with the whole team and with our clients and our experts, you know, our our other stakeholders and answer some questions about that can inform our theory about why is this in the game? Why are we doing this in the game? Why are we making these decisions?
  • Ludo for play and Liinal for in between. So, Lud Liinal is like play in the space between.

Quotes (from this video)
  • And so I'm really interested in Horrified Ravenloft and I think it's four new monsters and it's still like in a D&D theme and I really like the last D&D Horrified.
  • So that was a whirlwind tour of a whole bunch of games we're interested in checking out.
  • And there are so many more games that there are so many games at UKGE. We can't possibly know about all of them so please do let us know about the ones you think we missed the ones you think other folks would be interested in.
  • So, we will have Shakespeare the card game on sale.
  • So, this is a really exciting UKGE for us. So, please do come by.

Quotes (from this video)
  • Which was Jinxo, which we brought brought to UK GE to play with people.
  • It is one of the spiel de Jarus uh um nominees and we had not played it before.
  • It is so much fun.
  • We played it with three separate groups every time. We had plenty of laughs.
  • This has hit one of our top party games.
  • Jump Masters. This is a prototype copy, I believe, of a new game from Chip Theory Games. I actually don't know much about it, but I'm excited to try it out because Chip Theory produces some really high quality stuff.
  • So, by limiting the amount of space you have in a suitcase, you can limit the num the amount of money and games you bring home.
  • No, you have to. It has to be have six sides, but that's the only rule.
  • I didn't follow that rule when making my die.
  • Tyler made a ridiculous die because it's more fun that way. Don't try to make a regular dye.
  • Paddington, UKG was pretty amazing and honestly just the people along the way.
  • Not to not to be dramatic, but I think I would die for Paddington.
  • We saw the musical, not just the bear. We saw Paddington the musical, which was 10 out of 10.
