Quotes (from this video)
  • This is probably my contender for a game of the year kind of thing.
  • It is a reprint though which feels like cheating.
  • Very very good game. Highly recommend.
  • Very light plays real quick.
  • Gashapon trick is really cool.
  • This is a really cool game where you actually want to leave gaps in your tile lane because when you leave gaps you're going to put in more pieces that are going to give you scores.
  • I love Bruno's games.

Pros
  • Interesting action selection mechanic
  • Tension from a neutral faction
  • Good for area control fans
Cons
none
Thematic elements
Comparison games

Mechanics (from transcript analysis)
  • Action Selection Rondel — Every round, you will um activate one of the the gods, one of the deity tiles, and that will determine sort of how many of your troops you can put out and and and that that aspect of it. But, when you activate a deity tile, it will then move to the top of the row of deity tiles, and it will essentially become more expensive the next time you use it.
  • Area Control — you are, you know, fighting for area control. You're moving um your troops out on the map.
  • Neutral Faction — There's also a neutral faction in the game. So, even though it is a competitive game for two players where you are fighting each other for control and for points, there is a neutral faction that you will both kind of have to fight, or else they will take over too much of the board.

Quotes (from this video)
  • This is a deck-building game.
  • one of the interesting aspects of this is there's 13 ways to win the game.
  • Essentially, 13 dark pacts in the game and each of those dark pacts is a unique win condition that feels, you know, it feels like crazy to get.
  • You can also play two times and three times multipliers on those cards to double every aspect of the card.
  • that just feels like a very satisfying aspect of the game.
  • the main mechanism of the game is I split, you choose and that's always one of my favorite mechanisms because it's it's not a difficult game to teach, but it's a difficult game to make decisions.
  • So, what do you sacrifice and what do you keep is also an interesting aspect of that one.
  • This is a great family game if you want to.
  • And so, there's a lot of lying and promising of other people where you're like, "Do you want to go there with me? Nobody else go there.
  • I swear to god, don't go there."
  • And so, there's a lot of sort of lying and intrigue and where you're going and promises that you're making and stuff like that.
  • please, you know, check out my new series. It's all funny and games when it drops in May.

Overall sentiment (raw)

Pros
  • Interesting area control fighting game for one to two players.
  • Third opponent faction controlled by the game makes it easy for solo/co-op variants.
  • Reminds the host of a mini Cyclades.
  • Solo mini Cyclades sounds really interesting.
Cons
  • Assumes operating two bot factions instead of one for solo play might not be bad, but it's an assumption.
Thematic elements
  • Area control fighting
  • Ancient Ireland
Comparison games
  • Cyclades
Mechanics (from transcript analysis)
  • Area Control — Players are struggling for control of ancient Ireland.
  • bot opponent — A third faction controlled by the game competes for area and scoring.
  • Deity Action Selection — Selecting a deity to take actions each round.

Quotes (from this video)
  • The push and pull really works well.
  • I should warn you that I've heard the rules have changed slightly in the final version.
  • The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers trick-taking game is the standalone sequel to The Fellowship of the Ring trick-taking game
  • The twist is there's a third opponent faction controlled by the game itself that is also competing for area and scoring points.
  • A solo mini Cyclades sounds really interesting to me, so I'm very excited for this one.
  • It's a little difficult to tell these tile placement games apart. A lot of them are starting to look quite similar.
  • The production looks like one of the best of the year.
  • I know the card play of Revive is not in Recall, so that alone seems like enough of a difference despite some of the surface level similarities.
  • Given the mixed reviews this game has received on BGG, I'm concerned.
  • I also think it just looks amazing on the table.
  • This sounds like it might improve the solo game as long as controlling the bot doesn't become too complex.
