Description

Circus Break is a fast-paced card flipping game, which involves players competing with each other, in order to obtain a key to escape from the circus that is run by a horrible owner.

Each player receives a unique character at the start of the game, which needs to be hidden until you wish to use the characters' abilities.
You will need to identify turned-over cards and use them wisely to process the game, read more cards, obstruct others etc. , and eventually be the first to escape the circus by using the key.

Our game contains different character abilities, varieties of action cards, random game-changing events. This will create countless situations and make our gameplay more exciting and fascinating.

Mechanics (from transcript analysis)
  • draw_and_decide_keep_or_discard — On each turn, a player draws a card, looks at it, and decides whether to keep it or put it back; hand space is limited and taking back cards can take a full action.
  • event_cards_and_effects — Event cards can cause all players to return their cards to the pool, significantly altering the board state.
  • Events — Event cards can cause all players to return their cards to the pool, significantly altering the board state.
  • Hidden Roles — Each player has a role with special abilities; revealing your identity allows you to use that ability.
  • hidden_roles_with_reveal — Each player has a role with special abilities; revealing your identity allows you to use that ability.
  • key_and_meat_mechanics_and_escape — Escaping requires the key and meat resources (lion needs meat; gate opens when key held and meat is present); the escape is announced and resolved with key/meat conditions.
  • resource_collection_to_escape — Characters collect specific resources (e.g., Zoe needs batteries, a torch, and a map; the giraffe/monkey/lion have other food goals) that interact with the escape objective and the key.
  • scaling_and_variant_for_two — The game scales down to two players by removing the lion; at three and above, the lion and other roles may be added for higher replay value.
  • special_character_abilities — Different characters (Zoe, giraffe, monkey, lion) have unique abilities that affect draws, lookups, blocking, and stealing.
  • steal_and_block_actions — The lion can steal a card from another player; the monkey can block (reject) an action via revealing itself; other actions can be used to block or manipulate others.
