Mechanics (from transcript analysis)
- Area Movement — Now, what you're doing on your turn is you are moving from one square to another, but you can only move orthogonally. You can only move up and down, left or right.
- Campaign play — There's also a campaign aspect of this game. If you want, you can kind of play from game to game, uh getting more experience and gain defensive experience.
- Combat — If ever a fighter ends up in the same space as you, you're going to have to defend yourself as an interception.
- Damage Track — Your fortress map actually shows the different locations on there. You've got, of course, the port starboard wing. You've got the four engines. You've got the uh rudder and and tail. Uh but, you also have compartments for your crew.
- Dice Rolling — Every time you move, you roll a die. You look at the different fighters in that area, and it's going to tell you that they activate. If you roll a number that activates them, that that is within their parameters there, you activate them. So, you're going to roll a black die that is going to kind of show you what the fighter does, but then you're also going to roll a green die, which is your fortress's defense die. So, you go ahead, and you roll the two die together.
- Modular Board — the game board itself is divided into a series of sectors.
- Resource Management — you have to expend a fuel. If you move from one air sector to another, you have to expend one fuel. So, you have to be very judicious about how you move from one air sector to another cuz you've only got a finite amount of fuel.
- Set Collection — You can spend for defensive tokens that you reroll on the fighters. You can also gain uh tokens that give you more fuel.
