Micro Empires (D+) How smalls the box though? - Kickstarter Critique Review
Transcript
Ohoy there YouTube. I'm back again today for another Kickstarter critique where I take a look at a different Kickstarter tabletop game project every weekday at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. And sometimes we go sluming on Game Found just like today where I am actually pretty darn excited to be checking out the ninth most popular project on all of Gamefound. It is unfunded, but it did just launch, I believe, yesterday. That's micro empires. Looking at the main image, I see art. I see components. I'd love to see those zoomed in on more because I think those are really nice looking uh meeples. Let me see. I'm at 110%. Oh, yeah. So, I'd love zoomed in on that. Like, move the art. You want to keep the art, make it smaller, but zoom in on the actual components. Um, yeah. I just like to see more. Like if your whole shtick is that we're going to put this massive mega game inside of this smaller box, then show me the small box, which you did to a certain extent here.
And then show me the components. The artwork, take it or leave it. Your company logo left corner. Take it or leave it. Like I feel like there's probably more components that would have been better utilized here. Uh or the price. You know, the main image is it's solid, but I think it could be better. Build structures, fortify your borders, pursue knowledge to guide your empire through the ages. Okay, I'd like to know more about like the mechanisms, area control, I guess, tagged down there. Eight plus, that's fun. That'd be nice, too. One to four players, ages eight plus, 60 minutes. That'd be nice. Not as necessary on game founders as I'd say it isn't on Kickstarter since obviously they have the little thing underneath there where you fill it in. As always, before we get into the video, this segment is sponsored by onero.com, who do some of the best Kickstarter services on the planet. in particular. I found out about them because I thought their videos were amazing when I did this very show and now they sponsor me. So check them out in the link down below. They're amazing. But as always with the video, we're thinking three things. Do I want it? Can you do it? How much is it? Let's see how Thirstroy Games did with their video. 57 seconds
civilization. I also have noticed, I would say recently in the last few months, this trend to move these videos to be a little bit shorter. It used to be like we're much more consistently around the two-minute mark. And I feel like we're just we have ones that are less than a minute, a lot more now. And I don't I think it's really hard to sell most games in 56 seconds, especially if your whole pitch is that it's going to be like this big epic empire game. Uh but let's see how you do it.
Great civilizations are not born in a day, but an empire can rise from the smallest seed.
For 10% of our video, uh art
draft cards from an evershifting market. manage resources to construct a thriving tableau.
Now we're talking tableau building right there. That'd be a nice buzz word to put in that uh description. Also like these components right here. I don't care about your spinx look lady looking artwork. Those components look great, especially in a mic. Look at those. Nobody wants to see your artwork more than your components most of the time. civilization.
Draft cards from an evershifting market. Manage resources to construct a thriving tableau. Advance along the
greatl looking iconography and graphic design in this
science track and leverage your leader unique abilities. Deploy armies onto the conflict map. Control territories and clear rival units as conflicts loom. Construct your 10th building or survive until the final conflict to claim victory as the true emperor.
Honestly, I'm not following along so much on what what's going on with what he's saying because there's so much to see. It's going so fast there. He's talking a lot and it's just
forge your leg.
That's great though. I want to play micro empires.
And I think that's the appeal. Like it's like all right, we just got to get him caught up in the the whimsy of our game and this 57 seconds that we're in. Especially if we have a nice price, which I imagine they will.
Great clear rival units. Victory as the true emperor forge your legacy. Back micro empires on game found. Wow. Lot of wasted space. A lot of wasted space in this video. I said at the very beginning because I always like to do this in like relative. Okay, so the first 8 seconds is literally nothing but your box, right? And then the last 49 48 like the last 10 seconds. So 18 of your 57 seconds are kind of you unused there. And I feel like it would have been great to just pad out that a little bit. Slow down. Let me see some more cards. Right. Like that was I am interested but that felt pretty quick there. Felt like it was too quick. Solid video, but left me one more. So, after the video, do I want it? Yeah. Can you do it? I don't know. But that video definitely looked pretty impressive. Can And how much is it? I don't know. But I know I'm probably uh I'm buying a deluxified miniame, right? Like a not you know what I'm saying here? So, let's check out the track record here. Always got to do it.
Oh, no. Micro jerseys is coming in the future. So, they did Micro Architects, The Big City Vacation, uh Micro Pirates, Micro Moonshine. Okay, they've done quite a lot here. Let's check out the most recent one. Look at those gorgeous components. Uh, did people get micro architects with the expansion? More wooden dodge. What is the current end date for the pledge manager? It depends on how quickly the games are produced. At this point, we estimate they're about one and a half, two months. So, that was uh one day later. Like, great customer service there. Not out yet, but awesome customer service looking good. Check out the comments on this one. Hello there. I saw today the request of the shipping. I ask what can I do next? This one's not also, excuse me, also not out yet, but once again, one day on the shipping or the uh communication, two days on the communication. Looking good. And that was on uh Yeah. Awesome. So, two projects that have not shipped out. Oh, wait. The FedEx situation. Someone reached out saying pay the FedEx and they would reimburse it. That sounds familiar to anyone else? I'm hesitant for obvious reasons. Anyone paid and been reimbursed and been told to do this? That someone is me, Camille, the co-owner of First Game. Several people have already contacted us have been reimbursed immediately. Wow. Okay. I've tried to update complete my pledge for the address, but I'm beginning in create project phase. The pledge managers has been closed for some time now. Please send an up email to here. FedEx continues. Just got a collection notice from TSI company for 2246. Email sent to both of you guys in the email you provided below. Please get this resolved. 912026. 922026. Uh, but more importantly, 3:31 a.m. We've contacted
every person individually. Might be in a similar situation on August 28. I've also replied to your email just now. So, it that's so that looks like a mistake or something and they are busting tail to fix it. That's fantastic. Like that's great. Like I'm not going to go third of a point grade bump up crazy. I also want to see do they have any Kickstarters? Thirst Roy games Kickstarter. Thirst is live. No. Did I spell it right? Thirst Roy. Thirsty Heroes. Okay, cool. Good to know. So, I've got a debt collector notice from the FedEx. Okay. So, what have they shipped out? Are these in order? So, that one's upcoming. That one's not out. That one's closed.
That one's what we're looking at. That's Microp Pirates. No, this one's not out. This one is like right now out last month and people are now getting it. And they had a bunch of shipping issues, but they solved the shipping issues. So, we need to go back one more to Micro Moonshine. Hopefully, people got their stuff. There were no issues on this one. Nearly finished my 3D insert for Micro Moonshine. Sounds like something you'd probably do if you like the game. I didn't get a tracking number. Actually, I shouldn't even say that nowadays. I have moved to a different address. Could update that. I have shipping arrow. set the business. Uh, okay. That think I might go Google all all my platforms they're on and give them some reviews about that that time for some one stars all over every part of the internet you're on. Uh, okay. That's that's not great. Anyone know how to rate a creator on Kickstarter and GameFout? Dude, seriously, your uh complaining is ridiculous. I emailed them and got a reply in a few days, so I took a little longer for them to get very back to you, but they eventually did just because they didn't jump at the very second to your whim. Yeah, you're complaining. I had stuff missing. Ease up, cars, by the way. I got my game in today, but it appears I'm missing the six whiskey bottles. I replied to your email. Okay, so wow. My gamer this week. The game is damaged. Please help. Please send us an email to this. BS, you don't respond.
Would be good if you responded. Hey, banker. Banker, don't even bother and they'll never respond. Tried five times through game town and need more through the wood fight. Is this the same guy? Uh, it is. It's the same guy. And that guy, like that guy right there feels like a lot, right? But at the end of the day, that's the oldest project that we've looked at of theirs and their customer service since that. Well, I guess I don't know. I like to imagine that that helped them be like even better on customer services, but but who knows? So, can you do it is a um that's a that's a question mark, right? Were any of those actually shipped out? Like I got to take like this. I normally don't like to linger this long on the can you do it, but normally it's a lot easier to do. This one is not shipped out. This one is also not shipped out.
It is why I never said my pledge. Never receive my pledge. So I was looking at the project. See this back one, but I seem like I missed the pledge. Where can I buy this game online, please? Uh received my got a full copy. Got everything. Okay. So, can you do it a a very big uh looks like Micro Architects was the one Micro Architects is the one that that came out and did great. And then a lot of these are just Jim Christmas. Never saw this game. I still haven't seen my game. It says place the pledge. Never seen my game. What's up? I guess mine is lost. These ones are from like years ago. I want to say one of them is one of the best crowdfunding experience ever in my opinion. I'm glad that I back this game, especially that I'm from Poland. So, can you do it is a very um I mean an incomplete. I normally don't give those, but this one's just so up in the air like I mean maybe fine. It doesn't feel great. We'll go there. One to four players, 60 minutes ages eight plus. Sorry that lingered for so long, but hey. Yeah. I mean, you want to know, right? Micro Empire's base game plus the expansion 40 bucks. That's a great price. I put that on the marquee.
Honestly, I'm sure there's going to be a more deluxified and fancy version than I'm probably probably buying, but yeah, 40 feels fine. Uh, one to four players, ages 8 plus, 20 players per minute. Thirsty Grams equals micro games. Wow. Doesn't mean that you need to have micro text. Firstly, the small size and portability of our games makes them easy to bring along on our trips to social gatherings, making them perfect for gaming on the go. Just because our micro games come in small boxes doesn't mean the gameplay is easy or simplistic. Our games offer deep and engaging gameplay, making them just as worthwhile as their larger counterparts. It all began with Micro City, which quickly built a strong following thanks to an approachable design and fast-paced gameplay. A year later, we raised Okay, this is a like this is um I mean, a personal touch would be nice. Like, I feel like this is the kind of company that I don't know why, but uh I'm just thinking like IV games. Just like whoever you want to put at the front be like, "Hey, yeah, this is kind of our lay. We do a bunch of micro games. We started with micro cities. Uh then we did microcosmos which is out I think and then micro architects and yeah like but not this. This is so much to read. The text is so tiny. It that doesn't feel fun or great or good. 7 centimeters 15 cm. I would convert that to inches as well because the majority of people bag this are probably going to be from the United States. typically that's how it shakes out that and then the rest of the world is about half uh granted they're not from the United States of America so it is going to be skewed but yeah inches would be nice um especially once again
because you're trying to convey to me the size of your game so I'll do it for you seven centimeters to inches I actually have a yard stick over there but it's behind the green screen so I can't that's two inches why did I do the side why would I do the but that's a good where the heck you got so dank projects. They haven't shipped out. Okay, we're getting out. Get get out of here. All right, so it's a 2.7, so it's like two by Yeah, that's pretty thin. That's pretty small. Okay, so 40 bucks. 25 for the base game. 96 people took that. $15 for the jump up. Uh the playmat. Wow. Oh, that's just the B. Okay, so we're just getting thrown into the shopping section. So, let's jump into it. It's $40. Gut reaction. Feels fine, right? $40. It's supposed to be a tableau building game that's like a big epic meaty game. Uh, but small components and I'm getting the expansion. Feels just fine. And you've done it before. You showed me that little graphic. This one, 25 bucks for that game. I mean, fine. It's fine.
Nobody's buying that anyway. This plus the playmat. Once again, not sure why it's here. Feels like this one could have easily just been handled with the add-on section having a playmat as opposed to having an entire pledge that no one's going to take. And I feel like most people who brought us Kickstarter, if you showed them your pledges in advance, they would have been like, "Yeah, probably most people are going to take that pledge." Be like, "Okay, this one, however, yep, that one makes sense. A lot of people taking that one. That one probably should be your feature one, honestly. 55 doesn't feel terrible, especially since that's the deluxified because you're you're showcasing yourself as a deluxified game, right? You're showcasing all those great little pieces of wood and whatnot. Thirst right kickoff, you get everything. I don't feel like this was sold particularly well. That tiny graphic was supposed to do the work here. And honestly, that's this is one of those and
h you hate to think that something like this is holding up other I don't even want to get into that. Anywh who, this didn't feel like it was sold well at all because that was sold by this. You could have sold me with awards or with quotes or with, you know, you talking or anything. And it's just like, ah, here's a bunch of stuff. And this does does that even give me the Oh, it does. And you put the expansion like it's its own thing. Whatever. So, we have essentially four games here with two big expansion or one big expansion. That feels price-wise. I mean, it doesn't feel bad, but I don't feel like they sold it well at all. I don't feel like I know anything else about any other games unless I read that. I don't feel like you like it could have been done way better. Um, also 96 here, 120 here. That's a really interesting one to look at right there because that's just 15. Like how many people said no, I don't need that playmat for 15 bucks.
And it was 96 people, which is roughly what, like 38% something like that. I don't know. Rough math there. 25 12 25 all these games which you didn't sell well. Whoa. What are these? What's this thing? What? This just random stuff here. Also random stuff that it feels like it should be in a deluxe version of the game that you don't have. This is a Micro Architects game. Oh, that's for a different game. Okay, this is this is just a bunch of random stuff to buy for your other games. I don't hate it, but the bottom line is I don't love it ahead of how much other useful information should be here. That's a cool logo on the bag that I would zoom in on. Uh, wooden coins.
What's in the box? Here we go. 75 Empire cards, 28 military units, four strongholds, five barbarian units. Yeah, this is great. This is what we should be focusing on. This is like that graphic right there. Just right before you lead with, hey, this is what's 25 bucks. I'm like, okay, that $25 price point done. We're done. I have no questions asked. Look at all that wood. They're all cool and fancy. My kids are going to play with them. Moving on. 15 bucks for this. Oh, it bumps it up to five or six players. Wow. Like, that's awesome information. That's like you should show you should have it as a one to six player game instead of a one to four player game. like just because you know that's your actual player count for the majority of people are going to be buying your game because what was it 12 people will be purchasing the game that goes up to four people whereas 200 or something is it just come on spotlight your good stuff yikes expands the table from one to four five or six player featuring a new conflict map built to handle larger battles four additional factions with custom wooden components and unique one-time ability cards. Oh, this is huge. That's like, "Oh, and we're going to vote on these? Are we going to vote on these? Oh, that's awesome. Way to not lead with any of this. I'm 17 minutes into your thing and I'm just now finding out about this cool exciting stuff."
Like, this is what we lead with. And like, this is what a personal touch can do, too. Right. Be sure to get the the expansion, which is going to which you're going to help us with because we're like, and it's not hard. It doesn't have to be a lot. And I'm sure it's in the updates or something, but pick an Empire card. So, now we're just talking about like how the game works. I'd love some quotes, too. Some quotes would have been great. Oh, a how to play video. This should be way higher. I mean, uh, awesome. Tons of videos. Yeah. So, I'm sure there's quotes. I would had some quotes smattered in here. We first quote of the day. So, right now, I want this to be seen. Like, this drives me mad. Why is the first quote of the page literally looking at the right side over here halfway down the page?
Do you like is this now where I'm going to start making my informed buying decision? No. Why do you think most people lead with a quote near the top? Especially if you got a good one. Micro because it also helps with the can you do it aspect? Because it just Micro Empires offers players plenty of challenges while still letting you finish a game in 69 minutes. And that's what we like. Offers players plenty of challenge. Uh that's an quote. Doesn't feel great. Uh guess it's saying that hey you're not going to be playing this forever. Uh why back micro empires always on time are you? We're proud to say that every one of our board games have delivered to backers on time. Meeting our promised timeline is our commitment. What was that even a fever dream? Let's see. This is micro pirates.
Uh FedEx. So this is THE FEDEX SAGA. OH, SO THEY HAVE received it and uh they had a bunch of issues. Okay. So, it looks like they have a lot of shipping issues. I think that's fair to say after what we saw here. But I beautiful wooden components. Those are great. Solo mode. Awesome. Face off against two unique autonomous arch type. This is great stuff to sell me the game. A campaign calendar. The Agora time reveals. What does this mean? We're doing things a bit different this time. No traditional stretch goals. Instead, we designed this entire campaign to be engaging from start to finish. The calendar highlights key dates when the new council will be unveiled through time reveals and when backers can help shade the game during the captain's council. So, you know, one way to read this is we did not want to get caught not hitting stretch goals that we wanted to absolutely have in the game. So, we just did it like this and we were hoping it would build more excitement and buzz.
I don't know if that's working. I mean, it's I would say probably not, but then again, I don't feel like this is its fault. This aspect of it, I feel like there's a lot here that's just not spotlighting your best attributes. Fast-paced, smooth, and packed with meaningful decisions. The gameplay is highly immersive. It keeps you engaged from start to finish. There you go. That's a great quote. Make it clickable. put it right towards the top. It's fine. It's not amazing. I don't know who nerdads.pl is, but it just it's it's way better than way down here. From small box to large civilizations. We got a preview. The essence of civilization games is different paths, different strategies, different ways of f focusing your game. This one does implement that really well. If you're looking for a fast playing civilization game, this is going to be one for you.
The second part of the quotes, take it or leave it, but the first part I think would be a rock solid one to lead with. Different paths, different strategies, different ways. 40 bucks. Okay, we're done, right? Okay, you've done this a whole bunch of times before. We're done. Okay, here's a personal video with you with a big stack of your games next to you. Can I like There's so many things that could have helped. Little things, big things. They did. I do appreciate how they uh they convert converted this to English. Great, great flow, simple, fast, great pac. It's a great design, very efficient, very satisfying. I highly recommend it. Okay, fine quotes. Uh, oh, that one showcases the size of the box. Very small box. Is that like the uh the buttons and bits size box? Micro Empires understands one important thing. You don't need a huge map at two plus hours playing time to make building an empire. Interesting. Okay. Uh, two-player playthrough. Fantastic. Like a whole one. Put it higher. Way higher.
Or mention it way higher. Uh, millimeters. I'd love to see the inches. Elevate your table. Oh, so this is the playmat. So now this is why you're selling me on that playmat, which you didn't sell me way way way way up higher, and it didn't sell uh as much as you probably were hoping it would. Elevate your table presence with the official Micro Empire's neoprene game mat with stitch edges for maximum durability. Beautifully illustrated thematic artwork, including clear delicated slots for the market, resource token, supply row, and draw discard decks. This also comes with an integrated science track and a full one to three player conflict uh wonderful one to three player conflict directly printed on the surface for a seamless immersive setup. Now that is what I should have learned the second I was offered this playmat. Like holy crud this playmat kicks butt. Why would I possibly not want this playmat? Yes, I want it.
You made me dig for it. You made me literally go go digging all the way down to the shipping section, which everybody just buries down at the bottom. One day, one day it will move up towards the top. Uh €18. Not great. US import duties covered for all pledges shipped to the United States. 10% into will be added to the pledge. This amount allows us to cover the concealable US cost. This So it's going to suck shipping it to you, USA. We're sorry. though. Still at the end of the day, 40 plus 58. I convert these currencies. That'd be nice of you. We're still at like what 70ish 75. That feels fine. You're getting the expansion. Uh and now you kind of are pushing me towards that that that one honestly. Like if you had a decent shipping price, like if you actually like I I think this would be a good one to own into if you're like, "Hey, we, you know, shipping one package all the way to the United States of America, we know the shipping cost sucks." Uh but if you go with the nine pack, like it's it's, you know, substantially cheaper.
Like it's like 20 or something. Like also you have a pledge which has everything is this to all pledge levels. So it is so it is subsidized as that. Yeah I'd mentioned that like you do here but it's still kind of tiny like I I asked I was like oh I got to read it and you say oh well why don't you just read for there's a lot to read here. There's a lot to read. Perfect for those who want the feeling of empire development and confrontation but don't want a three-hour game. Rewards really crunchy. Every turn feels rewarding. Okay. Pounder drum. It's not as long. It's not super long. Got it. His artwork cards thematically done. It's in a fanny pack. That's cool. Uh about us. Unless you fall. That's gonna like really stab you on those corners. Uh so this is this is them. They're people. They do things.
That's the stuff. Okay. Let's check out those pledges again and see what the breakdown is of it. So 100 people took the game. How many people said I need the playmat? 126. Yeah. Like there are 111 people who are like I need this game and I don't need the playmat and there's 129 said I need the playmat. And I don't feel like that's great. Like that feels really bad. And I feel like that is your fault because when you showed the playmat, it felt underwhelming. It's just like, oh, 15 bucks for that, huh? And then if you go all the way down at the bottom, it's like, oh, that playment actually rocks, you know, just because and the reason why I say that is seven to 10 times to one is the industry standard that you are crushing it on your deluxe version of the game, which in this case was the with the playmat, even though they have extra add-ons for this game or something. I like is this like I don't even know. And that's part of the like this should be better organized. And I think they tried to do it with these outlines.
I don't know. Is any of this for this game? Whatever. I don't care. Let's check out the comments. Let's check out the Oh, I went I went too far. I'm not going to go. We're going to check out the updates. How's that going? There's no updates. There have been no updates. This launched. When did this launch? That's surprising because I I thought it launched yesterday. I thought it launched Yeah, Tuesday. Let's double check these. So, no updates at all. Yeah, that's t pretty surprising. All right, so this is from yes, the micro season publishers can't wait, but you guys got to take the Romans in red, not blue. Do you guys have a plan to pay? Okay, let's check out the comments. Are there any elements of expansion that can be used in a solo or just expands the game to two players? So, go ahead and answer that. That was two minutes ago. Uh, costitos. I know someone named that the name. I like the game, but I'm on the rim for backing it.
I'll wait for stretch goals. There are no stretch goals. If you would have scrolled all the way down to the bottom, you would know that uh there are the unlocks. This looks okay as a miniame, but I usually like the bigger, richer experience for this type of game, says Kirn Crabsher 7774. $70 including shipping. The price seems a bit too high for a miniame. I Yeah, I agree. I agree. I feel like that eight like it's just and I think part of it is if they would have just sold it better I wouldn't have had as much of a problem right like and maybe these stretch goals or these things that they're going to showcase are going to make the price feel better right in which case in theory this is going to look like a much better value at the end of this campaign but I don't know I mean how many people are going to come back to see that especially with how far down so much information is. Just to clarify the TCO for a pledge to Germany. Uh so I unfortunately shipping costs also include VAT is shipping a flat rate if I order multiple copies. It looks good.
I'm really curious to SC this campaign. The time reveals for the pirate one was great. Okay, cool. That's good to know. Is there any chance I'll be able to order microcosmos to the expansion fit in the core box? This game comes a full three-player compat mech. Does that mean it can only be used with three players, not with one, two, or four? I had the same question. That's a typo. The game comes with the one to three player compat. Put it on for four. Cool. Not the kind of game you usually go to play with my group. So, did this just launch today? Do you guys have a plan to avoid the the It's already taken care of. It took me seven letters, man. Okay. Final grade micro empires. Um, do I want it? Is yes, I do. I am a sucker for small box games. I put in the I put it in the poll there. Do you like small box games? And I do. I do.
And this one doesn't wow me. And I think part of the reason is the video was too fast. So I thought it looked cool. I was like, "Oh, this looks neat. And look at all those pieces. And look at all the cards." Actually, I didn't say look at all the cards. Didn't show me as much cards, but I liked how the things worked on the cards and how the pieces were all marked and things were stacked on top of each other. It looked good. And then I saw the price. I was like, that feels fine. Shipping sucks, but do I want it? Is a very tepid. Yeah, but I am the target market. Can you do it, Chiron? It's not a terrible price, but the advance of mini games for me is that they are usually cheap. Deluxe versions of mini games seems to negate one their major attraction factors. Yeah. Yeah, that is true.
That's part of the appeal is it's like, okay, yeah, because right now, you just made me think about it like, yeah, like $70 for this game, you know, you could you could go buy like literally just about any non miniatures game that you wanted right now on Amazon for $70. Yeah, I mean, you got How much were the Tiny Epic Games? Like I do want to put that Tiny Epic Games Kickstarter just just as a barometer. Tiny Epic Dungeons. Hopefully this the most recent one. What's the cost of that deluxe? Because I do and I know it's not fair to compare that because Tiny Epics is a massive massive massive thing and they're in much they're they're in half the size of the box. So 25 30 40. But then you're not getting jacked on the shipping. All right. Yeah, I'm just not feeling it. Do I want can you do it? Is is is Yeah, I guess you told me you did there. I don't feel like going through your comment section.
People really agreed with it. Also, yeah, looking at the ratings on your games, like that's rough. Like, so this is the big one. Micro. So, it's 5832, 7226, 8361, 8911, 10,515. Those aren't highly rated games. And I know like maybe Micro Moonshines just can't I guess how many how many ratings? 131, 81, 177. Yeah, like their games aren't like wellbeloved because I was going to say maybe like having like a really impressive like hey here's the list of awards and stuff we've win. Can you do it? Is is Yeah. Yeah. They they'll get it to you. Is it going to be as good as you hope it is?
They're due. And then how much is it? It doesn't feel great, but if I was like, it doesn't feel great once we get to the shipping. And it doesn't feel great because you partially didn't sell it to me very well. So that those two factored together just really hurt, right? Like one or the other is fine, but when you have both of like, yeah, your price doesn't feel good and you didn't sell me the thing that you're trying to sell me particularly well, it results in what I think is a is a is not a great grade. I think we're in the C minusish range here.
I wanted to be excited about that. That's why I covered this. That's why I randomly covered the ninth most popular project of game fun because I love micro games and I love little tiny wooden pieces. They're all cool and I was like, "Oh, I love this. I love I love that. I love this." Which should be on the main image showcased prominently instead of some super generic looking artwork of just oh yeah like it's just you can barely make this out. like your whole spiel is like and then like you didn't sell the nine like you're because here's the thing I absolutely adore when companies do this pledge level where they sell everything. I think it's a fantastic way to to move old units to potentially jump into new print runs but you have to actually sell it. You actually have to put forth some effort to do it. And I felt like they put in the minimal amount of effort effort.
Like it feels like I'm not accusing them, but it feels like they just shoved information into this graphic and it was just like, "Ah, here we go." And it just Yeah, I would have leaned into how many games you've shipped in the past. Like there's other things you can lean into if you don't even if you don't have great ratings on Board Game Geek. So final grade. Yeah, I think it's a C minus. And honestly, I feel like this could easily be a higher grade if you just spotlighted the bottom 40% of the page. Not not actually the bottom. Not Not you. Not you. Not you. Let me rephrase that. The everything above the shipping like everything all this if this were just smattered in the first 50% of the page.
Not you. Yeah. Actually, yeah. You you right here. Right here before I make that informed decision. Right here before I decide if I want to buy all your games. All your games. Oh, you shipped them all out on time. That's a company I want to support. Oh, look at these cool little components. And all these other games have cool little components, which by the way, you didn't spotlight at all. So, why would I possibly want to buy it? This seems like a game I would snap up at $35, hesitate at 45, and wait for used or pass once it passes $50. I feel like that is Yeah, I can't disagree and I feel like there's a lot of factors against them. I also feel like the fact that their box is roughly the same size of that Gloom Haven buttons and bits which is very well priced because you know it's Gloom Haven doesn't help either. Same with the Tiny Epic series.
They're they're an uphill battle. But you know what? You get an uphill b like you Yeah, I'm going to go C minus. You could talk me into a D+ C minus. No, I'm going to go D+. Not converting like it. It felt like you were just like, "All right, we're not going to get most people back from the United States of America, so we're not even going to try. We're not going to convert the currencies. We're not going to convert the inches." Like, it's just Yeah. D plus it'd be a great game, but the video didn't see it very well. Sell it. Yeah, it didn't either. And it just needs like an extra 50 seconds. D+, let me know in the comments below your photograph for Micro Empires. And if you have a request for an upcoming Kickstarter game found, oh, an Indiegogo. Give me an Indiegogo board game. Those are always fun. Uh, let me know in the comments below. And as always, thanks for your time, YouTube.
