Tabletop Inc: The Crowdfunding Revolution ►►► Is this new expansion revolutionary?
Transcript
Hey everybody. Today Roto runs through Tabletop Inc. Crowdfunding Revolution expansion. But before we begin, please turn on your subtitles to the Cllingon channel so that when I have an oops moment, you'll know about it. Hey everybody, Kimberly here and I'm really excited to share with you the expansion which is the second expansion to Tabletop Inc. This is Crowdfunding Revolution. Now, this game plays 1 to six and takes about an hour to play and is a worker placement game about making board games. So, there's a lot of lovely theme here. And I have got the deluxe components in this run through with the exception of one item. So, let's take a look at my board here. I've got this. This is my component collector, but I've got all the really cool upgraded bits in here. But everything else that you see on the table is part of the game. Now, if you want to jump ahead and just hear my final thoughts specifically on the expansion that I am covering here, Crowdfunding Revolution, you can jump ahead in the chapter system or hit that timestamp in the description below. But as you might know if you're a fan of the channel, I have already covered uh this game before, Tabletop Inc. And so I'm really excited to revisit. Now, there is another expansion, Golden Pear, which this new expansion is compatible with, but I am not including it just so I can highlight this specific one. You'll see over here on this side, this is a brand
new neoprene rollout mat that is specific for Crowdfunding Revolution. Everything else out here you see might look familiar, but there are some woven in components and elements and uh pieces of the game that come with the expansion. So, we are again building board games from the bottom up. You're going to see a ton of action spaces out here, which I'm going to explore throughout this run through. I will not cover exhaustively here, but players are going to have a table that they have essentially a CEO that sits at this table. In this case, I'm playing Gon Games. You'll see the lovely play with the existing board games out there. This is my CEO who I am playing. And yes, it's yellow. And again, if you're a fan of the channel, normally Lewis, who I play with in these runthroughs, two-player runroughs, plays yellow. Uh we have recently switched colors.
Shocking, I know. But these are going to be some stamps that will give me an ability to have level boxes, which you'll see over here. There's one, two, three, and four level boxes. There is a mechanic, and then there is a component. So, this is going to be the mechanic symbol mechanism in your game. And this is going to be the components in the game. And they are leveled one to four. And so I'm only able to build what I am capable of building with these stickers or stamps. So I need to come up here and get some specialists, maybe get some freelancers, get some skill upgrades, and then I can start building bigger and better board games. So what players are going to do on their turn is they're going to either place one of their mele workers out onto an available space on the board or they are going to retrieve their workers. When they retrieve their workers, they will advance this time marker on the side. This keeps track of the time. We will move this marker backwards towards the zero. Our player score markers start at zero. But this marker starts at the level of players you have. So, we have two players.
You'll see the marker here for three and for four and so forth. And you're going to be moving them back. So, you're going to take back your workers. Um, retrieve them. Moving this forward. the number of workers you bring back. So, let's get started by just placing out a worker. I am going to start the game. Lewis is going second. He gets a dollar. And uh we are going to place this little guy out here. Now, to get started, a really strong strategy again is to bring in people to help you make your board games. So, I actually want to go up here to the freelancer. I want to hire somebody that's going to help me do a really good job. You place your uh mele inside of one of these spaces. Now, if you ever see the dotted line that has um a color behind it, either red, green, or blue, that is going to be for four, five, and six player games. So, in a one to three player game, in which this is a two-player game, we are simply going to be using the spaces that are not inside of the dotted lines for each of these actions. And when you place your worker in a space, you gain what is underneath it. Some spaces might require um a safety cost and they have a picture of a hard hat with something underneath it.
So that is for spaces where you have specialists or if you just are the second player to get there, you might have an added cost. So if I place my worker up here, I covered up an hourglass. I'm going to take an hourglass um uh component, put it in my player area, and then I take this action. I can take the card over here in this space for free. If I take this card, I have to place a resource on this one. If I take this one, I have to place a resource on either of those. And the new expansion for Crowdfunding Revolution gives us an opportunity to play with four cards in the specialist and in the um freelancer row, which is new. They are also double-sided. More on that in just a minute. So, if I want to pay to get these, I'm going to have to pay resources. But actually, I really just want this card. This is a really good card. Um, I'm going to take this and I'm going to pull out the matching uh acrylic uh worker. So, I'm going to put this worker. They don't get to be in my player area just yet. So, I'm going to lay him down, but I'm going to want to put this table person at my table and they're going to give me another stamp towards components. So, now I can when I essentially fully hire them, I am going to have two uh level two components. They're going to give me a better chance of getting basic resources at this location right here.
You'll see that that actually matches. They're super super good. And they also don't have to pay the hard hat cost or the safety cost if they go to the specialty space that costs a little bit more. So this person doesn't necessarily work for me right now, but I essentially hired them, but they haven't had their first day yet. So I can't use them until I put them at my table. And so now I'm going to move these down and move this new one up. And we have four cards available. That is my turn. I I placed one worker out. I did my uh turn. And now it's going to pass. And players are going to go in turn order placing either one of their workers or retrieving all of their workers. Now Lewis saw me go and do that. And he thought, I can't hire somebody just yet. I don't have enough resources to go there for the hard hard hat cost, but perhaps he sees an opportunity with a freelancer. And the freelancers are right here. They do not give you a figure that you can place out onto the board as a worker, but they do give you an opportunity to place one of your meeples in a space to gain what's listed. And they also will give you, as you'll see here, uh, stickers or stamps towards your skills. They also will give you endgame victory points.
And this one in this case gives you two upgrades for free, which is a place you can go on the board, but it also allows you to do things better than your core skills allow you to. So, he thinks I can maybe go and grab one of those and of course get a resource or two myself. So, he's going to go in the free spot right here. That is a light bulb for free. He's going to get this uh over here. He's going to grab the light bulb, put it in his player area, gathering components, and then he's going to take one of these workers. Now, he could possibly take this one. This one is part of the expansion. And you'll see that the cards are going to start including this symbol. This symbol right here is that marketing symbol.
You'll get your cogs for your skills. This one's going to be for mechanisms. This is going to allow you to take the advertising uh uh action or your token and it gives you three victory points at the end of the game. And uh I have been ignoring this symbol down here, but if you pay one of those tokens that you get, you get to flip them over and they become more valuable for uh victory points and for skills. So, that's going to be what the new upgraded freelancers and your um um uh workers up there will give you, which is kind of fantastic. Okay, so he's gone there. Which one does he want to get? This is free. This will cost a resource if he wants the second one over, if he wants the third one over and the fourth one over, so forth. So, you place one resource on each of those.
I really like the idea of the upgrades, but I also like the idea of the um uh getting getting really cool stuff towards your advertising and towards the crowdfunding expansion. So, let's have him put the dollar on this one, his resource. He could put either a dollar or he could put his light bulb that he just got. And he's going to take this, place this person into his player area, which is not active. that person needs to be placed at the table to be accessed or used much like the previous um action that I did over here. So, he's going to put that person here, not at the table. Can't use them. But, we're going to move this down and we're going to move this down. And again, that's it. Turns are pretty fast, especially if you're thinking on other players turns and you know exactly where you want to go. There are other places at the same location, but some of them just cost a little bit more. So, back to me. I see that Lewis got this uh freelancer and my specialist. I really want to make sure I activate. So, I'm going to now go to the table. I've been talking about this. Sending a person to the table means that you are um activating them. Now, if I go here, I also get an hourglass. So, let me get that hourglass. Now, I've got two hourglasses. And I will put this person at my table. And where I place them, I get that bonus. another hourglass, a light bulb, a dollar, a magnifying glass. Now, the POW and WOWs are for
advanced play, and you begin with specialists that are more unique than your basic starting player. And POWs are negative cards that players begin with that they have to essentially get rid of or they're going to be negative points. Again, advanced play. So, we're doing the basic start. So, what resource do I really want right now that I will need to build components for light? I need light bulbs for components. I need dice for mechanics. I need uh hourglasses for the uh um um uh components. Let's do Let's do this. We're going to turn my uh wheel just a little bit sideways because I want to make sure I can see everything. And I'm going to put my worker up here. So, I'm going to place my worker above the magnifying glass.
And I'm going to put that right here. And now this worker is in my pool. So, I'm going to place my worker right over here in my pool. And now I've got essentially three workers left to play with. Got my bonus. And now I can use them to go here and I can gain uh five resources instead of three resources. And they are the basic resources which is why I chose the magnifying glass instead of the dollar, the uh hourglass and the lamp is because the or the lamp the um light bulb because these are going to be the ones that are harder to get to. So that's why I made that choice. And now it goes back to Louis. He says, "I can't really pay two dice to activate my worker to get them at the table. So maybe what I should do is come down and get some resources." So there are several places where you can gather resources. Here is where you can get a three in any combination of those basic resources. Two dice, two magnifying glasses, and over here any number of meuples can come here for simply one of those four things. That's where your basic resources are going to be.
He will come here and grab dice so he could possibly get someone at the table or he can come here to grab items. These cards are just good. When you come here, you get to place your worker in one of those free spaces. Same thing, free. This costs a resource on the previous card. This one has resource on previous two cards and so forth. And you simply take it. And when you take it, it might have an immediate uh sorry and and uh um one of these guys that says forever you get to have this infinity and they are skills. And then these are whatever you want to pay them in. You keep your card and then you can turn it in at any point to do those things. So, I maybe instead of getting those those dice, those resources, maybe he comes here, grabs an hourglass, and he says, "I'm going to grab some of this stuff over here to really beef up my um CEO free." This one, he might have to pay a thing to get one of those. He's going to maybe he wants to really work on that advertising. That might not be the worst thing. However, getting two skills forever.
Really, really good. Let's have him take this for free. This is very, very strong. I like that move. Strong, strong move for free. And he gets to keep that. So, now he's level two mechanics. He's level two components. He's level one box. And you need to have all three of those items to create a board game, which I have on the top here. All of those board games are available to play. There are tons of boxes that you get with all of the base game and the expansions and they're just fun. So, the boxes are just part of the flare and the theme. Um, okay, that was it. He did that. So, I'm going to move these guys down. We're going to come here. And now I'm looking at my two workers or my fancy uh worker. This is going to be my specialist. And I think I want to use my specialist to go and show you how cool it is because you do not have to pay the safety cost, which is the hard hat symbol, to go to that space. He could go here and get a dollar and do the action or he can go here, get the get the magnifying glass, which is harder to get, and not have to pay the cost. Now, if you ever have to go to the safety cost space, or I could go to this one, and I could get that bonus essentially, which is the prediction. Right now, we don't have any prediction cards out.
I'll talk about that in just a minute, but this would be no two dice cost. Um, and I don't have to pay that cost with this worker. So, I'm going to place this guy right here, and it's going to be an hour an hourglass. It's going to be a magnifying glass. And instead of three of each of those items, he is going to receive for me five of them. And this says no hard hat costs. Very, very good. I'm excited. Let's get some of these basic resources. I have two hourglasses already. So, let's go for some money because I might want to come over and get some skill cards. So, there's two. Let's get two light bulbs so we can maybe get a box. And then the last one is, let's see here. I wish I could get some dice with this, but dice are Yeah, not dice. Not. Um, let's get another dollar.
Okay, so there it is. All of this good stuff. I mean, that guy was really fantastic. Again, my turn's done. Goes to Lewis. He's looking at maybe getting some more resources. Um, he's looking at uh essentially upgrading. He's got a chance to get a level one box and he can get a die for it. This is so good. This is so good. So, let's have him come here. He's really jumping ahead of me. So, this is the um mega box. So, he's going to put this out here, gaining a die. And then he gets to essentially have a level box of his skill, which he has level one skill, and each level cost him one light bulb. So, he can only do one.
He pays one light bulb. And he takes this level one box right here. See these little boxes? He takes this and he puts this right here inside of his table. And you can only have one game that you're working on, which is a box representative at any given time. And you can get the box or the mechanism or the component first. There is no order to it. But you can only have one of each of those before you box up the game and publish it. That was fantastic. I'm so excited. He's he's doing great. So now back to me. I saw that I can invest in uh components with my magnifying glasses. I don't have the dice for the mechanism. I also can come here and grab some of that stuff and just really hoard a bunch of resources. Um where is there it is. This is a skill I was talking about. I'm going to come here and see if I can give my person a little bit more uh I can give myself a some higher stats. So I come here, I get a dollar and now I get to come to this stack over here. These are the skills. So I go 1 2 3 four. You draw the top four and you look at them and they are going to cost money.
So in this case, this one is a dollar. I will essentially receive a dollar and I will get a permanent skill that I can attach to one of my uh workers, which I have two workers at the table, but only one skill per worker. And so the more expensive ones are going to give you more of those uh stats, and then the middle ones are going to give you medals. So, let me show you these close up. Here's that expensive one. Cost $3. I'll gain an hourglass, but I'll get one more of each skill level. I think this is the one I might want to get because I have enough money and it's a great investment at the beginning of the game. However, let's say I come to this with fewer dollars. This might give me a chance to get started and to have a skill and to buy something because this always costs money. And then the middle ones were these guys right here. If I'm really looking to get a die, I might want to pick this one for two bucks. And then I get one of each of those. But I might really be looking specifically for a box level. So I might want to take this one. So let's go with the one I said. I'm going to pay full monies. I'm going to put this and I'm going to attach it to my Oh, one thing. Let me put these back at the bottom of the deck.
I'm going to pay my $3. Gain my hourglass. And then I attach it. So now my Seimon games, my person is level two on everything and then my specialist here adds one more level on components. I think that's so cool. I'm so excited. Okay, so that was fantastic. And I still have quite a bit of resources to play with. Now Louis has one more worker. You can always retrieve workers even if you haven't played all of your workers out, but I think he sees a chance to go and get some more resources. So, he's looking at needing to get components and needing to get mechanisms for his game. And he has a level two for each of those, but he only has one die and not even any of those um hour um magnifying glass symbols. So, let's have him come here with his last worker, gaining the light bulb that he covered up. And then he's going to gain two of these U magnifying glasses. He's prepping for next round when he gets all of his workers back and he can go places.
Now, for me, I can place this worker or I can retrieve workers. And I will tell you, you have to keep your eye on the track. So, if you're looking at this hourglass and you see that it's going to cross over one of these clouded spaces that has a picture of an icon in it, when you activate that and move it back, you gain those resources andor, in this case, an action, which is a free worker anywhere you want. You do not gain what's inside of something. You do not have to cost what's inside something. You simply activate the area that you want to go to. And it could even be the advertising or the marketing over here. And so thinking about that is really important. Do I want to place this worker out or do I want to pull my four workers back and go 1 2 3 four gaining the free action that would have been this worker here. So I'm going to do that. I'm going to do that and I hope it's going to work to my advantage.
Something else that happens when you retrieve workers is that you get to do a prediction. Players have all of these cards that match every single location on the board. And they even added the brand new card here, which is the advertising. And so everything here is very woven together with the brand new expansion. And what you do with this is you simply choose, do I want to predict what my fellow player is going to do. Now, you have to pay uh these uh magnifying glasses. But just so I can show you, if you make a prediction and you get it correct, meaning your fellow player that you select, in a two-player game, it's obvious it's the other player, but in a multiplayer game, you pick one person.
You will pay an hourglass and pick one of those actions and if it's correct, you'll get two. But you can make multiple predictions during your retrieve worker action phase. Each one costs a magnifying glass and then it just scales up. So you might actually receive victory points as a passive action as part of your uh retrieve workers. Right now, I'm saving my two magnifying glasses to come up here to to get my um components. So, I don't know if I want to make any predictions as I return my workers, but I'm going to think about it for next time. So, I take back three of these workers and also my specialist. That moves it down 1 2 3 4. I activate the purple worker, which is a free worker action. And perhaps I would like to grab this would be free and I could grab this card.
Getting one of the um marketing actions. That might actually be really good. Ah, okay. Maybe I should do this. And then I can do the marketing whenever I'd like. So if I take this, I'm going to put this in my player area. And I can just hold on to it. And it was free because it was at the end. And I will use it whenever I want to. You do this action up here, which is gaining resources, but also gaining those little tokens. And those little tokens allow you to upgrade your workers, which you can upgrade either your specialist or your freelancers. Okay, so that was my retrieve workers. I'm good to go. It's going to go over to Lewis. He is now going to have to retrieve his workers because he is all out. So he takes these back. One, two, three, four.
He can choose to predict as well, but he's doing a very similar move of saving up those magnifying glasses. But he gets one. 1 2 3 4. Check it out. Instead of getting a free action, he got one of those magnifying glasses. Now, it's a little tough for me in a my brain playing two players out here to guess what my fellow player is going to do. So, I am probably going to pass on predictions for this run through, but I just wanted to explain what that was and how it works and how it can be really uh beneficial for victory points. So, that's going to be his turn. And it just simply comes back to me uh and I'm going to place out one of my workers. I can place out my specialist or one of my mele workers and I'm going to place it out on the board and we just go. Again, one of the really great things about getting this card instead of um essentially doing the marketing action is that I don't have to pay the hard hat cost, which is the safety cost. So, I'm going to spend this card um and I'm going to put it down here underneath the deck and I'm going to take this marketing action up here. Now, I'm not necessarily going to get the bonus inside the mele shape, but I also don't have to pay the hourglass cost. And I'm simply going to take one of these tokens and then collect what it says in the box where I take it. So, what resource do I need? I can get a victory point, a die.
Oh, I'm going to get a die. I'm going to get a die right here. So, I take this and then I take this resource token like that. And guess what? At any point on my turn, I can pay my marketing token to flip over any of my cards, any of my workers, which is again the freelancers or the specialists. So, I'm going to pay this token that I just received. I'm going to flip over my card. Here's the front side. I'm going to pay it. I'm going to flip it over. And now I've got upgraded skills. And uh I now get six instead of five whenever I go to the super cool place. So now this guy is just super souped up. And even better, anytime you pay one of these tokens, you place it back into one of the spaces.
Now in a one to three player game, you only have two in each. Uh and so you are going to place it back into one of the available spaces. I can't put it in one of the other spaces because it's only two max. And then you get that resource that you put it back into. So when you take one or when you pay one, you get that resource. So I now have two dice, an upgraded specialist all because I went to the marketing action through this item deck. I mean, very, very cool. And guess what? I haven't even placed my worker yet. That's all free stuff for me to do. Now, do I want to go and get more stuff or do I need to go and essentially get my board game started? Because I need to get the box, I need to get the mechanisms, I need to get the components. So, I have two I have essentially a level two on all my skill on my mechanism and then three on everything else, which is fantastic. So, what kind of game am I going to build?
Boxes. I can only do two level two box. But that's ah, but that's what I need. Let me see if there's something else. I need a level two. No, a level one. Okay, this is going to be really great. So, let me show you. Every player begins with an objective card. This is it. It's going to give you different levels of difficulty and reward and different levels of boxes, mechanisms, and components. And so what players are trying to do is they are trying to build these games to then go into this display box to receive the award based on the level of the box that they built. And this represents your game and also has the woven um components and the woven part of the uh crowdfunding revolution as part of it. So you'll get an advertising or marketing. Hey, you won an award. Let's say you won build SCRS.
That's what this is going to represent. And so uh you'll you'll get this token. And so it'll say you essentially received that level three. So, my box that I want to build for my level one requires a level two box, a level two mechanism, and a level one component. So, if I'm looking over here and I see what Lewis is up to, he has his box. He can't buy another box. So, if I'm playing cutthroat, I don't want to go and get a box because it's not I don't have the leg up on. I don't have an edge. I need to go somewhere where I think he's going to go. And it looks like he's got no he's got one die, but he's really looking towards the magnifying glasses. So, if I go up here, I'm going to essentially take that spot. I'm going to go up here to build one or the other. But if I go in the free spot, it gives me a light bulb.
And now I pick, do I want to build a component or do I want to build a mechanism? I want to build a component. And I want uh to build it is a level one component. Is that right? Oh, maybe I can build a better box. Maybe I can do that. Oh, it's a level three. That's so good. Do I have three? I don't have three. Okay, I'm I've got my eyes set on this level two game, but I think I should just start small. I should just start small. So, I'm going to get a one component by paying one magnifying glass. And then I come over here and I get this guy and it shows I have a level one component. I put this on my table and I did it. I talked through a lot, but I was really excited about it. He sees that I just went there. He does have an hourglass so he can go and he can essentially pay for that second spot because if he leaves it free, then I'm essentially going to go there and get two people and really fill up the space. And I think that he's worried about me going there next. So, he's ready to fight over getting this board game out as soon as possible. So, if he goes here, this is the first time we've had one of those safety costs. So, you have to pay the cost first. He has to pay an hourglass before anything gets activated. He puts
this over the magnifying glass. And now he says, "I want to build." He can do a level one mechanism or in this case, he's got a level one box. He needs two. So, here's his card. He wants to have a level two and a level two. And that's his uh number one award card. And he does he's got two for mechanism and two for components because he has a skill and he has this person. So let's have him pay two of these magnifying glasses and he's going to grab a level two uh component. So there it is. He's got it in there. Um, he needs to get essentially another die so that he can do the uh mechanism when he gets a chance to. Back to me. I feel like the money is not there. If Lewis is going to get money to get that last one, I think he uh he's going to have to race really hard, but he doesn't have the dice either. So, I'm going to slow down. I'm going to come here to get my box. I'm going to pay this. Get a die. And I'm going to pay what I need for my box, which is two. I need to pay two light bulbs. I have level two access to boxes.
So, I'll take my level two box. I'll flip it over and put it. And now I've got a level two. I've got my one component. This is working really well. I'm super excited. Now, back to him. He's looking at this going, I need dice. He's thinking, I need probably cash monies, but he also wants to get his person to the table. and he sees it's for free. So, he's going to get his freelancer. He's going to put this down, grabbing that hourglass, and he's going to take this freelancer and he's going to put it around his table, gaining that resource. And this is going to allow him to take the advertising action just like I took. If he puts one of his workers there, it also gives him that um mechanism skill upgrade. Oh, this is so good. So, he needs What did I say he needs? He needs dice. So, he's going to go and get his dye because otherwise he won't be able to get his last thing. He needs a level two.
So, I'm going to turn his table just like I turned my table. And we're going to stick this person right over here and get that. Yes. Fantastic. So, that gives him a die and now his person is at the table and he just simply for his turn can go here and do that action. And again, it doesn't have a hard hat cost like it has over there on the board. Okay, that's so exciting. He's seeing things. I'm seeing things. I need cash. I think I need cash cuz if I want to come here, I need the dollar bills, but I get the bonus action. So, let's go free over here. Um, do I want to go here? Do I want to go here? The money was what I needed, but magnifying glasses are so good. And my my freelancer doesn't have to pay the heart, not freelancer, but my specialist doesn't have to pay the hard hat cost.
And now I get six because he's upgraded. He did some marketing. Oh my gosh. So, six. Let's get $2. Let's get $3. Let's get a light bulb. Let's get $3 and two light bulbs. And let's get Oh, boy. Let's get another light bulb. Okay, we're going to build a big box next time. All right, there we go. Fantastic. And I still have two workers. He's looking at two workers. Where does he want to go next? He cannot go here. These over here are ways to upgrade your components and your mechanisms. This is where you publish and this is where you go for awards. Maybe he wants to check out the objectives. We each were dealt an objective at the beginning of the game.
If you do not meet your objective, you lose points. If you do meet it, you gain points. And so there's a way for players to just gain victory points. And you have to have some kind of um condition met. So we each gain one face up. That's where you can come here to gain those. But maybe he Oh, yes. Okay. He loves coming here to get the items. He's going to go here, grab that hourglass, and he's going to take this card. Or he can grab some money. These are upgrades. This is just free skills. But I think he wants this one. So, this one shows you this skill right here and it shows you this um icon, not skill, but icon. So, you will gain a freelancer and then put them at the table immediately. And this is all in one card. So, he's going to hang on to this cuz it's really, really dynamite.
And this is going to sc. So perhaps he just does it now cuz this card right here says that he gets one of each of those skills to add to his uh person. And right now it's great to get those stats so you can build bigger and better board games. Or you can just take this one for free and take the dollar on top of it. It's really really good. We'll come back. Maybe he'll decide what he wants to do. Here I go. I'm going to go up here and I'm going to cover this up. It costs $2. That's why I went and got all that money. So, I got $2 just to pay the safety cost, but I get the purple action. What I should do is gain my mechanism and then take my bonus action, which is going to be essentially to publish my game. And so, I'm very excited. Let's see what I can do. I need to get my mechanism. So, it's dice. I need to pay for uh two. So, I'm going to pay two dice and I'm going to get my level two mechanism. Put it into my box.
And then for my free action that I got here, that purple uh worker, I'm going to box it up. Now, when you publish your game with the expansion for crowdfunding revolution, you can come down to crowdfunding instead of a traditional publishing route. You can choose to crowdfund. And what you do is you will look at these different costs. You'll say, "Okay, this is an A," which are shuffled up and dealt out. They're random. So, it's a dye if you want to publish zombies, which is just a random box cover. Um, you can pay a die and an hourglass to do this one, or you can pay two and two. Now, I just ran out of that last dice. So, I can't publish the best game here, but I can do this one. And you'll gain what's underneath it, which is four victory points and a marketing action.
Now, in a one to three player game, you only have one available, but if you have more players, four to six, you get to have two possibilities of crowdfunding publish. So, I'm going to publish. I'm going to publish this box. I'm going to put my components in there. I want to publish extraterrestrial. So, I'll put the lid on there. I will pay an hourglass and a die. And I essentially am going to receive the four points. And I get one of the marketing chips. So, let's grab I always want that dye because I never have enough dice. I'm going to take it again. I'll take the dye. So, I'll take this and put it in my player area, which gives me a dye. And I essentially publish through crowdfunding instead of through again traditional means which is just grabbing any box lid from anywhere.
And then this is how you're going to publish over here. So um I didn't get what's inside but I did get four victory points plus one of those marketing tokens. Ah I'm so excited. So, is he going to play here and essentially do a marketing for one of his actions because then he can upgrade this person? That's not a bad idea. Or he sends this person out to maybe grab one of those specialists. He can't go here. We really filled up that space up there. But I think he might want to come here. He's going to do that marketing action again. No cost for those safety costs. And then he's going to take what resource he's got. Let's give him a dollar and a chit. And he's going to essentially do the same thing I did.
He's going to pay it back to gain another dollar. And he's going to upgrade this worker. So he has this person. He upgrades them by paying that marketing token. And now they've got two skills and they're worth five points. The action is still the same, but it just became that much better. So, the worker stays on there and that's his turn. It comes back to me. I can choose to place my worker or retrieve. I think at this point I want to go up for an award. I'm going to come here to the award space. It says I get um a magnifying glass. Done. And now what I do is I show everybody I've got a level two box. I have a level two component and a a level one component and a level two. And I look at my objective card here and it says if I have a level two box two mechanism and one component, I get to go up for a level one award that will be worth nine points at the end of the game. So I did. I put all my stuff back in my box and I will put this on display right down here. I'm going to take it this spot. I'm going to take this number one award, place it in my player area, and I'm going to put this box right there. And it fits right in that little space that's kind of on display. And it says I get to take one of those um those marketing chits. So, I want to take
another one of the dice. So, I take this. I take the dye. Now, the really cool thing about these um marketing tokens is for me, I want to have essentially three by the end of the game. And if I have them, I will receive five points. But also, we will have two different ways you can use these tokens at the end of the game for scoring. one of which is whoever has the most will receive points per published game and then it goes into the second most of these tokens and then the third most and you will receive points which I think is a great way to value these but they also will count for missing components for your objective cards. So every one of these tokens that you have, you can essentially say, "Oh, like Lewis has, I need four dice." He can use one of his tokens to be one of those four dice so he can receive the five points and not lose the two. So those are two ways that these marketing tokens come into play at the end of the game in addition to everything else that we've been seeing so far, like upgrading your your player, um your characters, your specialists, and then your freelancers.
All right. So, it goes back to Lewis. He is going to retrieve his workers. He goes one, two, three, four, and he brings those workers back and he goes 1, two, three, four. And it is a magnifying glass. He is not going to choose any of the predictions again with the predictions. Um, but he is on his turn. Hm. He can still do his really cool grab a freelancer and then put him at the table. Gosh, that's really good. Maybe I'll start off his very next turn with that. I simply look out and say I have all my workers out. And in this case, it's five. So I go 1 2 3 4 five. And I not only get a magnifying glass, I also get to do the free action. And so I'm looking out here thinking, what is going to kickstart the second half of the game? Because we started at 40, we're at 23. The first person to go into zero with that marker retrieving workers gets five victory points and all other players get one more turn. What do I need to really get going? I'm going to do the marketing action and I will take one of these hourglass. What is it?
Hourglass symbols. What's my next level? I need a level three component and a level three box. And I need just a mechanism of one. I'm doing okay with those resources. Let's take a victory point. All right. Victory points are always good. One. There we go. And I took my third marker. So if I hang on to these, I have qualified for my objective. Okay. So it's going to go back to Lewis. He is going to play his very first one out. We know he's going to play that super cool item card. And I have published my first game. and not only published, I have also put it up for an award. So, here is what you're going to score at the end of the game when one player has retrieved their workers and moved that um marker all the way down to zero.
You're going to count your awards. So, you're going to look at your personal objective card and see how many of these awards you got and gain those points. If you still have a game that's on your table, you will receive all of the points of the box, the components, and the mechanisms at half cost, half value. So, you'll look at all those points, and you'll essentially value by half. If you have a published game that is not up for an award yet, you published it, it's off your table, but it didn't get to award, you get full points for everything that your box mechanism, and uh component will give you. And then I also talked about the uh these cards right here. These are going to be those cards that you will score either negative points for if you don't meet. And every single card you have a component for has to be uniquely met. So if you have crossovers with dice or with resources, they can't double up. So positive or negative points for those. And then you will receive your points for marketing.
And I already talked about those which is in a one to three player game it is first place gets one point per box they finish which is a game. Second place gets one point per two boxes and then third place gets one point for every three boxes. So that's going to definitely come into play. And finally don't forget those freelancer cards. Lewis has a card right here worth five points. you're going to add up those points as well, and whoever has the most points wins. I hope you really enjoyed checking out the Crowdfunding Revolution expansion. So, I'm going to jump into my final thoughts right now. Hey everybody, it's time for my final thoughts on Tabletop Inc. Crowdfunding Revolution expansion. But before we get to that, please remember that this was a paid game found preview. And with that out of the way, here's what I think. This is a thoughtful expansion. I was so surprised and delighted by how woven in to the game this expansion is. So there are two different elements to this expansion.
The first one is called marketing and it is this little um kind of like bullhorn speaker symbol and what it does is it helps you sell your game that much better. And it's so enticing and it's so thematic because Tabletop Inc. is all about building a game, a board game, getting specialists and freelancers play testing your game and essentially getting all of that stuff built together so you can publish it and then put it up for an award. So there are a lot of stages here with this worker placement game for one to six players, but what the expansion offers is something again really delightful and very thoughtful. It actually brings in um revised components. So it will give you a brand new deck of freelancer cards and a brand new deck of specialists. And the reason this is important is because these these characters now have an ability for you to market and then do an upgrade on them and flip them over to their their specialized side, their upgraded side.
And so you're using the marketing tokens in a variety of ways, but it gave you all this new stuff. So instead of having the basic which you have all the different standies that are all the same, the characters are still the same, but they now have an upgraded site that really is super juiced and it makes you want to get the marketing tokens. And the way you get those is by sending one of your meeples as an action to go there. But surprise surprise, in other decks and other ways, you'll actually get the marketing action available to you so that you can take it through the item deck that just again feels so like well woven in, welldeveloped, and I like how they work. So here's how they work.
You put out the amount of tokens based on the player count that you have. For one to three players, you put out two tokens. So, in each of the six categories of marketing, you can get a victory point, a die, a dollar, a magnifying glass, a light bulb, or an hourglass. And when you take the token and put it in your player area, you get that resource. Then you can either keep it or you can spend it and put it back into one of the available spaces, gaining that resource again, whichever one you put out there. But when you're paying it, you are upgrading your worker. You say, "I'm taking you specialist and making you super cool." And so you flip them over and now they do super juiced stuff. It's fantastic. I love it. There are also new objective cards as part of your target objectives that will ask you to get the marketing tokens. Very cool.
Then I still I haven't even talked about the crowdfunding element. This is just the marketing element. So part of marketing too is having these tokens by the end of the game. At the end of the game, the player who has the most tokens will receive the best value for their published board games. And it's in addition to publishing your board games. Normally, you will get certain amount of points based on the amount of players for your board games. And if you're second, most tokens of marketing tokens left over, you will get some points, but not as good as getting first place. And so it goes down from there. And so you'll actually receive money for marketing. You can also use your tokens to replace any of the missing components for your objective cards, and that will prevent you from losing maybe two points and gaining five. So, with your objective cards, as before, you will take a card and you're essentially saying, "I got to do this card or I will lose the points, but I really want to make sure I gain the points." So, advertising tokens are just the best thing. I I really can't see myself playing this game without the crowdfunding revolution.
And that's even before I get to the crowdfunding. I think the crowdfunding is dynamite. So, here's what happens. There is a space on this neoprene mat that you get with the expansion. And when you go to publish your game, you are essentially getting a choice of publishing normally, which doesn't have any cost, but you can also do crowdfunding. Crowdfunding has three different levels of crowdfunding, and it's all based on your initial investment. So, the investment's low, you have to pay, let's say, a die. You'll get two victory points and a marketing token and you'll get to publish zombies or whatever box you put down here. All the boxes are just fun. There are no boxes that you have to do. You can just pick whatever box you want to box up your game. But let's say you want to do maybe a next tier crowdfunding campaign. You'll pay maybe a little bit more, maybe an hourglass in a die. And these are randomly placed out in levels A, B, and C. you'll get four points and then a marketing token. And if you want the tier top tier best, you know, crowdfunding campaign, you'll pay even more, two and two of each, and you'll get six points. And then I'm marketing. And there's only a certain number of crowdfunding opportunities.
So, there's just really, really great stuff going on here with the crowdfunding. And that's what you get in this small box of the Crowdfunding Revolution expansion. So again, thoughtful woven in just makes this game that much better and it doesn't make the game longer, which I just don't even I don't even know how. I don't even understand. It added another place to go for an action, but it makes the game better. And I love that it values the marketing as a really strong element and component to the game in the same way everything else works. So that is my final take. Again, good game, nice worker um allocation game and a lot of choices here. A nice competition with the board, but specifically that expansion crowdfunding revolution dynamite. Just totally working that in.
not playing without it anytime I pull out tabletop ink. All right, that's going to be it for me this time, folks. I will see you later. Bye.
