welcome welcome back we're going to continue the campaign where we left off if you haven't already watched episode one check out the playlist that I've included down in the video description thank you your generosity much appreciated get to business for those that care sometimes when we're playing through a campaign game if I remember we will check the overall ranking on boardgamegeek.com just for fun while we're playing it live from dayto day week to week whatever sometimes play Campaign games it takes a year or more to play them sometimes it takes a few months it's kind of fun sometimes to watch when a game that's relatively new I mean this is like a year old now so it's automatically trash uh I'm just kidding nobody cares about it once it's like a game's like basically not in prototype for on crowdfunding after that nobody cares about it anymore that's just the reality but anyways for fun we care uh to check the number there so it actually has gone up three spots in the last two days since we played it and then now insert Yogi with the joke the Rob gaming table effect on the game is causing it to rise but really it could just be other games falling you know it's like but anyways Rachel hello welcome to the stream um so yeah there's the numbers uh if you're curious uh the progression uh one of our community members George a No George not George a different George different George uh will'll leave down in the video description uh a running total and he started doing it last episode so I was like all right I guess we'll check that's not why I brought it up but it's okay okay uh but thank you so much George uh so there we are just a fun little thing to check also a way to kill some time while other people show up after getting their YouTube live notifications uh because they're subscribers and they turned on notifications so they don't miss a live episode if they care uh but you can always just swipe them away if you don't you know what I mean so it's all good it's all good um so we have some housekeeping from last episode there were some comments left thank you to everyone leaving comments with your tips those who couldn't join us live obviously you're still cool if you watch later I won't judge binday coming through with the win and coru I'm not sure how to say it I'm very sorry but uh also had a good tip here that I want to bring up uh remember when we're talking about the other like we played sleeping Gods now we' played sleeping Gods distance guys a little uh we only played one other um game from Red Raven games which was Nightfall nights nights fall just Nightfall I think Nightfall uh which we played and funny funny enough Lindsay says I missed the live stream but looking forward to watching the rest of this just as a heads up uh expect the game about Midway through to become too easy so we'll address this in a sec about the veteran mode thing um but really at the end also Pro tip use Nightfall game slider pieces for the character Health they are the same ones used on the plane which I was like that's where I've seen these before and I knew we saw them and soon as I I I ran and grabbed the box right after I read this pop it open I'm like oh there's these little cultist guys that have the hearts along the side their little standies and have like sliders on them as soon as I saw it I was like oh that's where I've seen this before I like I knew we had something and uh so I ripped a few of those off we'll we'll switch them out in a sec Lindsay thank you for this comment and helping our experience with the game yes thank you Lindsay um but another thing we do have to address oh on the same note uh core at the bottom says Rob do you have betrayal the house on the hill no I refuse to uh for reasons uh the little Clips used in that game to track stats I do remember that though when we did play it I remember exactly how how that looked um might is help on the life on these characters if you just if you don't just use dice it it says watching makes me want to break this out awesome thank you very much for those recommendations because we knew there was things that we could have used we just couldn't remember the game yeah there's George with uh with his rankings it's awesome uh okay so uh to address something else there was um brought up uh last stream in the chat I remember um about using a veteran mode and halfway through the game it gets kind of easier or something like that but then Lindsay also reiterated later at probably not watching long enough to see when it got brought up but also mentioned just the heads up expect the game about Midway through to become way too easy to the point you just Crush everything and this is kind of what the discussion in ch was about if I remember correctly um but we were like in the middle of playing and learning and I was just like let's just play the way we learned it let's see how it goes let's worry about that later but then when I stopped and thought about it later it's like yeah we've been in that situation where we're playing a campaign game and we're just wrecking it and then like the rest of it we're just like you know it's on autopilot we're just like playing it for story basically y um which is okay sometimes when you don't really feel like a challenge you just want to chill but um this is about the veteran mode that said that that one rule that was added says uh the eventex size should be six cards total I don't know what that means but when the deck Runs Out cross off a camp we'll read it and then it says but do not take a camp action else you hardly need to Camp after a certain point and it feels like the game becomes never ending so we must get a way that like stamina just refreshes or something is what I would think there or maybe you just have like enough meat and enough things yeah I don't know what that know yet yeah like I don't want to know kind of it's like spoilery but it's like okay um take from take from that what you'd like love what you guys do thank you you so much okay so let's try to dissect this I figur we do it on stream with everyone watching uh if you're watching this live you're obviously like you're in you want to know more you want to play along so we'll kind of like I was going to do like a poll but maybe we just implement it but I need to understand what exactly it's doing so over on the rules pop here I think it's this dangerous camping thing which was brought up I think that's what we're talking about here in this veteran mode yeah I think this is what what we were talking about last stream right we brought up when camping if on an atlas space with any of these locations which I'm assuming is that all the different places that have camps at them like number one is the place where we found uh like this Camp space right here is number one right mhm so if we camp here and I'm assuming on other ones it's similar like little towns or Villages or whatever it's trying to say like you're in a safe place you can camp safely but anywhere else could be trouble and then you can safely Camp again we've not camped yet we're about to do it I guess so we're going to learn how that all works but I just remember like stamina a little bit of health regen oh you get to remove one single status off one character oh yeah you get to heal two health I think off everybody and then everybody also heals three stamina and it's a concern an action oh minions guys okay oh and Lindsay's here hi Lindsay thank you much if you scroll thank you by the way it's a time crunch is what what she was talking about okay okay okay time crunch events yeah I was like trying to understand what what it was cuz we were talking about this though I think yeah that's what um on somebody was talking about last episode yeah they were trying to say like you need to make it a little harder for yourself and then hours later I read Lindsay's thing and I was trying to like I was like is that what we talked about I couldn't remember I'm like we'll figure it out when we're on streamer sitting with the game in front of us and we'll figure it out um but it's perfect okay so time crunch events this like did not read separate the event cards by level shuffle them place them face down near the play area to create the event deck take two cards of each level and shuffle them together placing the deck face down the deck size should be six cards in total yeah so two level ones two level twos two level threes then you Shuffle those together and you make a six card deck what happens when the game tells us like put a card eight cards down or whatever you maybe just put at the bottom when the deck Runs Out cross off a camp but do not take a camp action then make a new deck following the same procedure if a QUEST card oh it's right there keep here we go if I just keep reading it'll tell me if a Quest Card instructs you to place it in the event deck simply place at the bottom of the current deck huh interesting so it says adding a literally a timer on the game so we have to like kind of make progress I don't know in theory like I don't know how the game is like obviously if we can survive to this halfway is point it just starts we start getting so much goodies and we're just like winning combats with play games like this where it does snowball and and you're kind of like oh we didn't really fail where we supposed to fail now we're kind of op and we're just kind of crushing it because based on their play testing maybe like we weren't the type of player that was playing the game you know or we're not the audience it's targeted at maybe or we're playing at a player count that's not balanced cuz they play tested at a four player game or hoping only four players would play it you know um but adding a time crunch to like basically saying like you can't spend too long maybe on this map and you should go to this place and you know uh it's just like the camps are just ticking off but then when we do need to camp we have to cross one out also so here's the question I guess for Lindsay is did you use this mode the whole game or did you implement this mode once you start to feel was too easy and it does say if you're experienced sleeping Gods player which again we haven't played sleeping gods in so long but we we play these like type of games these adventure games and skill check games all the time M and you want it to feel a bit more like the original which I don't remember uh or you want a challenging adventure with more attention use this mode and we're just using part of this we're not using the whole thing yeah so this just nudges it a bit so we can't just wander around forever and then this dangerous camping was mentioned that we should also use on stream I remember was mentioned but maybe every person has their own like this is what I added to make it a little more normal difficulty you know and then some people added this one you know and maybe like all no one adds all of it unless they're like crazy right yeah Lindsay does say I did the veteran mode the second campaign I explored way too much in the first campaign oh okay okay so when you explore too much just like getting way too many like combat cards and resources and you're just like you're just crushing it I see I see I see I just worry like if we forget like what we were doing where we're going and like obviously we have quests to work on and in this game do you know if you're on the main quest line how do you how do you know that again I don't know that you know yeah because like any of these sandbox games you usually have a main quest line then a bunch of side quests and if you do a few side quests that's fine but you got to keep progressing the main quest and adding a time crunch to it makes me think like I need to be aware what the main quest is cuz I could just get lost and it's like if I'm going to lose because I'm wandering a bit too much because it's not obvious or I miss something or because I took a week off between playing I forget like or I played a different game and then I come back to this and I forget then I get punished for it so I don't I don't know but I do want to do it I like I want to do one of these this one right from now or yeah let's just try it I guess like I don't know like this doesn't need to go on forever I don't need to win the game I don't need to play everything that's in this box I'm totally okay if it's a few episodes we get to play it and we die some crazy way and then you know maybe the game gives us like a second chance and we don't get the best ending or or an an ending totally fine totally okay with it ending we definitely would have shown the game off I definitely got my money's worth it it's all good like I don't have to win every game I don't need every campaign to take a year here like it's totally fine with me I want to be able to play lots of different games that's what I love about the hobby is just trying different stuff and and and dabbling um so also I agree with blankie cat I don't think there is like necessarily like a main quest the main quest is just we have to find five totems I have you find like any way right yeah but I have a feeling maybe when we hit certain milestones in the campaign maybe like um the camping for example like it'll say like have you reached this maybe like cuz none of the none of the like missions or keywords are any story yeah um like main or side it's just another thing do whatever you want is this made me also read this earlier uh the struggling to survive thing that I forgot to read I didn't know it was in here when the first time because I just saw difficulty I was like I will play the game first before I read any of this stuff so I understand what's going on uh struggling to survive question mark okay this is on the other end like you're sucking at the game what do they need to nudge you so like this could help us make a call here and feel free if you're watching this right now or you're watching later uh I'm sure we'll have made our decision soon but let us know in the comments below or in the chat you know any input you have even if you don't know the game like what do you want us to do like I'll take any info into consideration for sure uh struggl 5 says remember to equip ability cards this I always forget I'm always holding a handful of these things and I remember that from sleeping Gods I would always forget to put them on um but it says though it costs more stacking a character with multiple ability cards with the same skill will make you efficient and you won't need to Camp as much okay so if you're doing this then you might need to start putting veteran mode stuff in if you're just like so good at that that makes sense you limit the camping uh most of the time when you're presented with an overwhelming combat you have the option of running away we saw that a level six combat is one of the lowest levels in the game okay we have no idea like where I don't know where they come up with these levels but six in my mind number that yeah yeah they just make up their counting scale starts at six mine starts at like zero or one maybe in a game I would think but there is a six uh it's like is the the final boss like 9,000 that I'm assuming that's how it goes just Skips a whole bunch of numbers um but anyways uh but even that can knock you out if you're not prepared run away if things aren't going your way and come back when you're ready to fight search for more combat cards and customize your deck be effective as possible we know this from playing any kind of deck construction game deck building game engine building game you only need to have 14 cards in the deck remove the cards that are less powerful OB obviously you put a good card in you want to see it more often statistically thin the deck down do not put extra cards in stay with the max or the minimum we familiar with and you'll yeah statistically you'll see that card more often and the deck will create more power MH if you're defeated don't worry uh the game was designed knowing this might happen sooner or later so right there makes me go okay we can play with one of these rules and the game is going to like you know all right you are bad here's your like you really get three fail attempts here's one used up like keep playing have fun um couple more and you're out you'll have to replay the whole thing you know whatever or maybe it gives you some help you know here's some item that's going to help you a little bit more cuz you sucked you died this way so we're going to give you an extra combat card to help you out or something but I feel like it shortens your campaign when you die because you cross off three camps right don't you oh yeah so that would shorten your play maybe I don't know there's stuff hidden under the hood we've seen this kind of stuff before I'm curious to see how it goes but um take what you learn and continue even if you end the campaign with fewer goals achieved than you hop for you'll be able to unlock new cards that will help you in the next campaign so it's kind of it's like every evolving game that's kind of neat every ending in the story book is a legitimate one no we want the best one all the rest are suck all the rest are failures uh even if it isn't quite what you had in mind when you started so yeah the basic say play have fun you get an ending whatever don't worry you can play it again it's all good uh don't feel like a big loser loser sleep in God's distance guys is all about balancing resources don't use characters on every challenge which I know I think we used Too Many last episode we're learning we definitely are overc committing but we don't know the card values yeah I hate this idea of just like relying on the card flip and then taking like seven Health but if we keep reading here um sometimes it's better to just draw a fate without spinning stamina if you can afford to take the failure consequences it's harder to restore Health than stamina but it's okay to lose Health as long as you're balancing your losses failing a challenge often moves the story forward even if you take some consequences we know this you see like your punishment but you still read on to the next entry in the book it's like oh okay weird um the first map is the easiest map in the game which that's why I want to explore the whole D beginning map because we'll get to poke around is kind of like a little little Buffet to to sample all the different stuff the game usually has to offer if it's designed well enough um def fight despite a few surprising dangers hidden here and there yeah we found them like some mammoths for example the far the you venture from the starting map the harder things get so there you go that I just want to read that because that kind of gives some perspective like without spoiling anything really kind of yeah cuz it's in the book so we understand what's going on I should have read that way before even starting but we talked about it but then yeah okay yeah it's all the side quest right you're just like it's the rest will happen kind of thing as you you go I think that's also why they build in those events that are happening those are going to push the story for do whatever um maybe do one normal Camp before we go we are veterans maybe experience like one Camp first I think we're getting close to needing that let's do that so let's do it we'll do this time crunch thing after our first Camp yeah I think and should we do like what's this one who was it that was here telling us to do this I forget there's a couple people brought it up I want to say like a maybe Joel was it a Joel yeah I'm trying to remember um but I'm curious safely Camp if you're camping anywhere draw fate one to five oh wild beast attacks in the night oh man I'd rather do the other one than this one yeah yeah let's just do the other one Let's ignore this one for now for now for now yeah yeah until we get some more information I think the point is just to slap one of these on so it's not a cakewalk or or doesn't get B boring yeah at some point if it makes any more exciting to watch too that's fun I guess whatever watch us crash and burn or win and it'll the win will feel just that much better if we win right or if we make it to the end okay so yeah we'll come back to this all right so yeah we'll probably do the time crunch thing didn't do the dangerous camp but yeah somebody Lindsay somebody's bringing it up last stream um before I said you was that we're like saying the same thing the game gets too easy you guys should play with this right away away and I was like wait wait wait we're applying variants already we haven't even started playing the game yet get out of here you have a lot of faith in us yeah I want to see how this game was designed and how it's sold so I understand what's going on here but yes I appreciate the help though I do appreciate it and yeah we're only going to play this once so it's like you know realistically there way too many damn games to play but um so I'm okay to take a few hints but first episode's good to just kind of show what's going on and whatever all right I don't remember where we're at we are going to put those little things on our our character that's the most important thing so here's the little things so this is the game if you're curious do not buy this whole game literally for these components but for those curious this is the game we were talking about you might have it on your shelf like we did uh Nightfall uh Red Raven games and then uh it literally comes with like exact same color everything like they literally just made these like at the same time in bulk probably and uh use the same component thank you so these should just go on cuz I think yeah it's the same thickness of cardboard yeah cuz they're all punched at the same so we're just going to slide those on and uh chose at seven one's at 11 there we go yeah we'll just slide those on there thank you really appreciate before dodging another angry bat the air Roars with shrieks and squeals as bat reinforcements swarm around you slashing and biting as you struggle to fight back you run you run from the cave at full speed until the bats call off their assault gain Quest 19 whoops Pebble of luck another dorant totem these things are just everywhere I mean more that we have that's better actually because based on what resources we're able to collect right instead of being forced into specific ones we have more more um options here so I'm not mad at this nice Rachel says bat problems makes me think of Ace Ventura I see Rachel has a quite the exceptional taste in movies I approve I approve uh so we have 1 2 3 4 five we have six totems we only need five okay well there's more here oh you don't just gain yeah that's why yeah when we go to the mountains no problem yeah okay so I want this and we get that even if we fail at this we just have to attempt it but it remains in play and at the end of now we'll have our first like end of turn effect where this gains a threat then you draw fate plus threat and if the result is seven plus minus 12 health and discard this card no we're doing this before the end of turn well could do it right now yeah we can we can I think right yeah we just need you to eat a meat to give him a um stamina to be able to Jo the challenge boom stamina okay so he is three failed to produce the correct answer cross off the symbol on map page three in the journey log map oh right you may not solve this riddle again during the same campaign return to the map oh I see so then I've just crossed it off on my on my sheet here so that's cool that's cool okay that's good to know that that's how we and you know how we're going to crush these every time you know why you know why we're going to like personally you and I are going to smoke this without even chat's help why because we had so much training in fate Forge oh on Little Riddle Clues and finding things on the map and following paths and stuff that's true we did we did if they're like that always and they involve looking at the page we going to smoke this and we really good at following the directions they gave us yeah yeah unless that was the tester that easy get harder yeah yeah F Forge fade Forge Chronicles of con is a game we play is a campaign game on the channel we played a whole bunch and they had cool little things like a whole city map that they had an artist make and they had tons of little Clues where you had to like follow your way and find things oh it was very that part of the game was very neat yeah it was very fun it's like the that those micro macro games kind of idea all right but yeah we have hours of training in this in this kind of uh riddle we do okay so we only technically have one stamina one stamina she's not even using your stamina for skills cuz she's beegan do we camp first before we continue or do I try one more location hoping it's not anything bad to do what to and it's just like a board game with Dungeons and Dragons on the front of the Box you know we have played like adventuria which was very much like yeah well no not very much it's it's but that's a board game based on that RPG world this was the line and this is RPGs and this is board games it's on the board game line but yeah it's just no I'm just like yeah I like card games and board games and that's I don't know it's just the way I am I don't know and I like that kind of stuff but yeah the whole also one thing I don't like very much and I know there's more to it than this but the whole idea every time we play a game that literally tries to mimic the like Ro D20 for like everything I'm like I can't I can't do it or like you know that it's so petty I know but it's like I like to roll Ms full of custom dice rolling like d6s or d8s or d12's or d20s whatever d100s I don't even care it's just like plain old number dice rolling them feels so archaic I like my games to have more of a toy Factor if that makes sense so it's like yeah it's just what I appeals to me from all the things I've played at conventions and stuff like that it's like yeah I've never been like no I can't do it I can't do it maybe somewhere hidden actually there used to be a game store I had a friend that owned a game store and I remember going there and like they had they had a few private rooms kind of at the back and we would go there and like one room I remember there's guys that on the night I was going to play like I don't know whatever at the time Warhammer Conquest living car game or Game of Thrones living C game whatever we would reserve one of those rooms or he would reserve the room for us to play and we'd stream in there sometimes and the room beside us they'd be doing RPGs in the room beside that there was like some guys playing like Marvel legendary or something um all night but I remember watching the RPG guys and like listening to them and then like they were having so much fun and even at the other game store that I play Star Wars limit at sometimes they have like a i i theyve remodled so I didn't know but like I opened up one of the rooms that I thought was like to the washer where it used to be but it's like this this door opened up to some private cool room they had where they were playing RPGs in there it looked super sick and I was like oh man sorry guys and they're like yeah no problem you come on in I'm like I'm I'm good I'm good I'm good wrong room wrong room uh but yeah I I've always debated that of like let me try one maybe as like a player I don't know but it's like I'm like scared I don't know if it's for me and like I don't want to go down that road I don't know and it's something else I'm buying more of it's like oh man I got no space for this tons and tons of books but yeah Matthew says what do I think about RPG games or Ro playing games uh I think that like Rob I have zero imagination I think it's definitely shown on stream when like I have to create a name or something I can do that I'm not I don't have imagination to do that so like creating a character would be very difficult for me but yeah we're boring I we are we are very boring um but I would probably be more willing to play before Rob and I think that's because he reads all like he's like a DM to me a lot of the time anyways he's reading he's telling me what to do when I do it um so I think I would be more willing to play than him but I wouldn't want to create my character and do all that like I want someone to present me with here's my character here's my skills my abilities all those things and then we just kind of play but I I'm not I'm not opposed to it yeah I I say every time I talk about genen gone to and I'm telling people about Gen Con and I know it has a huge RPG presence there but like I'll never forget and every year I do it this year we did the same or last year whatever now it's it's a new year now but last year going to Gen Con I remember always always always I have to go in that giant huge Pathfinder Ballroom where they're playing Pathfinder and starfinder and whatever the other RPGs are from that that company piso and I always love going in that room and just standing in the middle of that room and just like looking around do a little filming take some pictures but the huge banners the huge room the like endless amount of tables of people playing games and then there's people like up on like R raised platforms they have stuff up on screens they're running like huge RPG sessions and stuff I'm always a little jelly I like I want to get involved but it's like I find it so fascinating but it's just like I can't do everything same with the tabletop War gaming it's like oh yeah looks man I love staring at that when I'm at the hobby shop and going to different game stores all around North America basically and seeing like all the different setups and different places that have like we have this one place like an hour from us that's like has a Star Wars Cantina themed tabletop gaming room where they literally just play like Armada and X-Wing and and Legion and all this stuff in there and and uh it's like amazing looking place like I just wish I was in there and they have like they sell alcohol in there and stuff and I wish like I could just go there and like go on a whatever night is there night of that and just like I was watching them play when we were there the one time and it's like I wish I could just have some beers or whatever just chill and play those games but it's like that's a whole other world that's like a hobby within the hobby I talk about like painting and all that stuff is part of that and like just like the meta of like building your armies and all those rules sets and things and like oh my God and that's why I feel like RPGs are kind of like that too where they have their they're like their own hobby within the Hobby and it's like I like to dabble and it's like I don't want to go down the rabbit hole I find like the lcgs or the ccgs are kind of like my hobby within the hobby that I I dabble with and I don't even have enough time for that so it's like yeah there you have some work around I get it I get it I know there's that problem too when I play uh when we do live streams with uh low um low latency for like good chat response and stuff so we can ask the chat stuff get answers quickly but I know Adam um from Chip Theory can't turn on Clos captions autogenerated because it doesn't support it with lower latency but like I I can't do it and then I also know if a stream goes over 6 hours uh I'm not able to edit as much stuff after the fact if I need to remove some copyright problem or whatever so I was trying to keep streams like under the six but I'll never let it stop me from having fun but yeah I do want to keep this under four hours I do especially tonight yes uh when we play on week nights like I I don't like to go too late anyway but I can't promise that for weekend episodes no but but probably and the reason why is because this game requires a lot of reading and me talking and my throat I can already feel like need the break I probably should be drinking more water obviously but I feel like probably after this combat would be probably a good time to save or once like this round turn is done but do you not have a way like I know there's sneaky ways to like download videos off YouTube and cut them up and edit them and whatever you got to do but yeah I don't know I don't know if that would help you anyway um but yeah uh writing uh oh it's best if you can end on a square with an expl number the plan's location oh I see I see I see this goes like this this goes here and then we are at the plane plane start space well it's just yeah okay and then we write down their health Claire has six he has four yeah plan's location he's C's health and the plan's health and fuel Jesse has five G has five although these shouldn't fall off we can keep because we're not because we're actually because we're using these little tags here we don't have to worry too much about their health being bumped which is so so fabulous uh Place each character status tokens and equipped ability cards in a separate bag with their stande and current stamina well everybody has three so you do not need to store characters boards in these bags yeah so it's basically just saying take their current stamina and like throw it with these they gave baggies with the game too and then equipped ability cards so for this guy would take his three ability cards and put that in the baggie but then what is going to happen with the ones I'm holding put them with these cards with your adventure cards place all your resources Adventure cards combat cards ability cards in hand character boards and Quest cards in a large trough in the storage tray when placing Adventure cards in this trough put them in their own bag and put away from the adventure card discard pile face down in the pile while keeping the remaining cards face up wow okay see I have a shelf we can save most of this without doing this kind of messy save you leave like these right kind of like this the event deck in its own bag holy crap uh this is a little I'm sure it's fine once you do this a few times but just seems like you can mess this up I feel like the bag should be labeled which I guess you can just write on them with a permanent marker but like that's how I would want to do it where like this baggie is for the discard this baggie is for the deck right on it like event deck in here and you know or even this character is like it's weird that I don't keep your hand but but return I bet when you resume saving from a save yeah we probably just understand for those watching cuz sometimes people are like annoyed like certain games like are just better to leave set up on a table and play till they're done this might be one of those games I get the vibe from um cuz saving that little baggies and making sure you don't mess it up I mean it's not the end of the world if like you mess up one little card or something but it could be if it's a QUEST card that you misplaced or something yeah all right there's episode two in the books uh so we'll probably play this coming weekend not sure which day exactly but make sure you subscribe turn on
