Bullet Review: Manic Anime Girl Puzzle Shooter
um what's up everybody today okay I don't think you can do this I should do this no I should do this what's up everybody welcome back to our Channel today we're reviewing bullet bullet is a shoot-up action sort of board game designed by Joshua van lambingham and published by level 99 games I think that's lambingham that's not right Mr Hamm designed by Mr Hamm uh he said it was okay to call him that I wrote him an email it's all good it's not insulting at all Mr ham if you're watching you know well it is a fast-paced lightly strategic puzzle game for one to four players that plays in about 15 minutes the goal is to be the last Q anime girl standing in this rainbow bullet manic shooter turns to simultaneous which helps with the Frantic nature of the game at the start of your turn you'll add bullets to your bag depending on the current round's Threat Level and how many bullets your opponent cleared the previous turn once added both players start their turn and begin taking bullets one at a time from their bag and placing it to their current board the number and color of the bullet dictates where the bullet is placed here for example the number three Red Bullet is placed three spaces down the red column if another bullet is in its path it skips that space to help with the random draw you have player powers on your incoming area board that you can use at any time provided you have enough action points so for this power I could spend one action point to move a bullet left down or right your goal is to clear as many bullets as you can by attempting to match the patterns on your character cards here if you get a red and pink bullet in these positions you can remove all other bullets marked with the starburst in this pattern if at any time you draw a bullet and you can't place it in your current it goes to your health bar if every heart gets covered by bullets you lose if by some miracle you end up Surviving that three minute round hand your cleared bullets over to your opponent and laugh at them what do you think hmm you want my honest opinion yeah I don't they do I don't care what your opinion is oh wonderful maybe they don't I don't know it's a little strange like when games have a really good storyline like almost like you are a certain character and you're following up this you're going through this adventure you know and every action you take kind of corresponds to what you met an adventure would be like this game it has tons of Adventure word two cute anime girls in a shootout that's basically every anime movie I also really like when characters have all these characters have their own abilities and I like when the type of characters corresponded ability and all these felt really random a lot no I think this feels really random I think some of the abilities like fit really well with like the theme of the character like for example yeah for example um the one in the wheelchair who's basically like a like a Professor X she essentially can move things off the side of the board right so it's almost like she's moving things with her mind the cowgirl she sort of like goes around the board rounding up other bullet tokens Russia she starts with four her name is she's not you kind of call her Russia I'm gonna call her Russia she starts with four cards and Russia is all about four cards Russia's the biggest country and she has the biggest starting hand theme works yeah I I like how you're able to pick all these random things and connect them together but I would really like if it was clearer that you know a little bit more backstory just a little more context setting what little theme there is they've done a good job like they have done a good job like if you look in the rule book they have like these full bios of the girls okay well she doesn't teach the games I teach very well but but like they do they have little bios you know the art is fantastic um scratch that my opinion is invalid because what really happened here was I wasn't hot the game well I wasn't given the full I must be from information in the theme of cute anime girls doing it impacts how one plays the game it's true you have to get indirect mindset to be like okay and this character and I bring this thing these are my abilities true I'm also strange that you would think there'd be like this huge crossover between board games and in an anime and yet there isn't because you would think like it was a Venn diagram diagram those those two hobbyists would sort of intersect a lot more than you'd think but level 99 games is the only publishing company I can think of that puts out a lot of sort of anime themed games if you're playing a two-player game it certainly has a more energetic feel to it and I think that matches the theme um it does it doesn't it somewhat feels like you're shooting at your opponent you know like when I give you my tokens that that is a good mechanic that's a good mechanic because it's like my successes become your future Doom it's fun to see you know when you're able to put a good combination of your different you'd set yourself up for your future patterns and you're able to you know clear up almost like Tetris this is as close as you're going to get to a multiplayer Tetris board game I think but anyways in terms of that interaction between all the players yeah I agree that is very fun I wish more games had that kind of I I guess some kind of mechanism where you know your successes are someone's detriment but at the same time that might be kind of harsh if you're winning by a lot someone will be suffering by a lot it will make the game very fun it's only at least they lose really quickly you know if one person only gets like four bullets cleared the other person gets like 12.
the end game will end pretty quickly but that's okay because it's only a 15 minute game and I do love how simple the game feels like it's a great way it's a great game to play when you have friends coming over and only one person shows up and he's early and you're like I guess we'll play bullet and you just play bullet like it's not a game that I would make an evening of but I but I think as that sort of filler game I think it fits that Niche really well I mean not everybody has friends to come over only to play board games you know most people learn all everybody watching only has friends for board games that is the only purpose to having friends they are just like seat fillers we won't have any friends by the end of this video oh no my friends won't even watch this video great our friends are they only use us for board games as well that's how you know our subscriber count will be completely real because none of our friends will subscribe so the only subscribers will be people who are actually interested so if you're actually real and you're actually interested subscribe leave a like and a comment saying you're real not a bottom yeah this isn't for yourself yeah but even the story games that we play I like the ones that have more strategy even when they are shorter it doesn't need to be a lot of strategy and this there's some areas where I could say like yes there is some strategy to it but a big big component to it is lack of the draw there's not a nine there is an immense amount of luck in this game you know they're going to be times when yes you can mitigate that luck you have player powers and and the power-ups and it helps it helps a lot but there are going to be times when you just draw five yellow bullets in a row and that's it but I think that goes back to the game being a little shorter it's I think it's easy to be forgiving of a game that's random when it's shorter like if this was like a two-hour epic game and it was just you know completely random then you know that'd be to its detriment I think a lot of these games have more of that appeal where if you like board games you generally like strategy and like thinking through stuff this is more for if you like that and you have a date a friend someone that may not love board games and instead likes more fast-paced things games like this there is no waiting so waiting for someone else to take that turn yeah you're both going at the same time things are moving really quickly and you kind of almost set your own pace based upon how quickly you took bullets out of your bag and the timer is essential it says in the rule book that you can you can sort of ignore the timer but that three minutes it's really more and it is nice to have games that have different end game like objectives Beyond half the most victory points like this one's just last man standing it's Last Man Standing uh we did play four players a couple times and it's not particularly good but at least if a person gets eliminated the game's gonna end really quickly anyway with two players it's it's perfect but I recommend it yes yes I'd recommend it I'd recommend again I'm not sure if I would recommend the game I would say it depends on who the target audience is true you know if you're if you're like us and you really only play games with people that like board games I'm not sure I would recommend this game you know how would you rate this game out of 10.
I I probably give it a seven like I think it's important to rate games and approach games as what they are like I'm not going into code names or bullet or whatever looking at it the same way I would look at Through the Ages you know it's the same with movies you don't go into a comedy expecting you know the Godfather too like it's not the way you know if this fits a niche it fits a niche and that's that short game you play maybe at the end of the night everybody's a little tired but you kind of want to play one more game so you slap this on a table and you say hey let's just be cute anime girls and shoot at each other so my Niche is things to entertain me things that I enjoy and this does not fall into my Niche I want to have that satisfying entertained value and I didn't get that from this game even when I won I didn't get that from this game winning or losing it didn't feel very satisfying so because of that I would rate this game heart probably a four out of 10.
harsh well seven four is what the difference what's the difference five four five four five one five yeah yeah it's okay only one of us has to be good at math I guess as a collective as a channel we don't recommend the game we have our differences of views but you know the game might be for you if you are looking for that sort of filler game to play in between games or at the end of the night then I I think that fits that well but if you're looking for something that's you know nobody's going to come to your house to play bullet you're not you're not gonna round people up to play bullet this is not gonna happen but it's a decent game the art is pretty Dart is pretty anime is awesome watch more anime the end if you want to see our list of animes that we're watching right now and the ones that we recommend I don't want to see that all wraps it up thank you very much for watching be sure to do all the YouTube stuff like And subscribe and comment your favorite anime below yeah so we can insult you and tell you that your tastes are mid I won't do that oh we will if we have nothing better to do thanks for watching bye because you need you need something to sign up on why is it I love you guys it's sincere
